This week we are in North Carolina for the Wyndham Ownership Projections brought to you through the courtesy of Win Daily Sports. This week we have 40 of the top 70 golfers and many others scrambling to add, solidify, or push their way inside the top 70. The number 71 golfer will be in the playoffs due to Grayson Murrays (30) successful suicide attempt. This short course offers those with smaller driving and approach shots an equal setting which means almost the entire field is in play. Discerning who has the edge is why we’re here. The Olympics final was stunning and riveting. Rahm had a 4 shot lead until the back nine prevented his medal chances. Scottie Scheffler roared up and took the gold. Then it got to him. He was extremely emotional when he realized he had climbed the pinnacle for not only himself, but for his country. A long time ago we returned some kidnapped children back to their village. The village elders brought out a tiny U.S. flag and a beat up cassette recorder that proceeded to play a scratchy and slowed down version of the Star Spangled Banner. We were ten thousand miles from home and the entire Force Recon team got bleary eyed. We found out later that they only played it for a special occasion. The early narrative is that the golfers hovering around the 70 player mark have more to play for and might do well. Hmm. If they have been playing mediocre all year they are going to hit this last tourney and smash it? Naah. I could be wrong though. Players close to the magic 70 include Hubbard, Dunlap, Vegas, Grillo, Power and Todd. (on the inside for now) with Perez, Riley, Putnam, Kitayama, List, Glover and Hodges on the outside looking in. With such a short course that brings many more golfers into the mix we have the following in our pool—Rai, IM, Griffin, Cole, Harman, Kim, Horschel, Poston, Bradley, Detry and CBEZ—More will be added/deleted once ownership comes out.

We are at Le Golf National. The last time these golfers met here it was the 2019 Ryder Cup and the Americans got their ass handed to them. It was brutal. There is a big difference between the Ryder and the Olympics as many more nations will have their best golfers there. We are looking for accuracy off the tee, SGOTT, approach and putting. We are at TPC Twin Cities, a rather pedestrian course that makes decisions for you. You have a place to miss that’s still a good shot and a place to miss that’s a bad shot. Basically there just isn’t much guesswork. There is water on 15 holes which makes this layout tougher than your average PGA or resort course. Approach and SGOT will count more towards the top. With 156 players and most of the marquis players resting up for the FedEx, this will be a week to sort the “sometime has” from “never has” The following golfers fit that criteria- Novak, EVR, Finau, Poston, Mitchell, Davis, Griffin, Hadwin, Greyserman, and Springer—More will be added/deleted once ownership comes out.

This course has had a mini makeover since the last Open in 2016. Roughly 200 yards was added to make the course just short of 7400 yards. This was added to combat the equipment advantages. The front nine is to get as low a score as possible and the diabolical back 9 is to try and hang on to whatever birdies you got on holes 1-6. The major change is to hole 10, where the new back tee makes the drive blind. The key to finding the eventual winner is previous success in Opens. The following golfers fit that criteria. Scottie, Rahm, Fleetwood, Xander, Morikawa, Rory,Finau, Lowry, Aberg, Conners, CBEZ, Henley, Perez, and Bhatia. Others will be added once ownership is projected.

When he tries to spring up once more he slips from a water bucket spilled over, flies past the bell and out the window, and 11 floors later splats on the ground. The Cardinal, horrified, runs down the stairs and sees a huge crowd gathered around the man.
