TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

New York Islanders (-250) at Chicago Blackhawks (+205) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Detriot Red Wings (+170) at Carolina Hurricanes (-205) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-166) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+140) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (+160) at Florida Panthers (-192) – 6 Projected Goal Total

1/19 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Florida Panthers -192

— Florida has been on absolute fire this season, with seven wins over their last 10 games. Their opponents, the Minnesota Wild have lost eight of their last ten games. The Wild have regularly given up four goals or more (sometimes even six or seven goals) in this recent skid and have struggled significantly in the pipes. They average 3.3 goals against per game (Ranked 22nd in the league), and the Vegas odds project them to give up an implied total of 3.8 goals against tonight against the Panthers. The Panthers’ offence has been led by all-star Sam Reinhart, who is currently on an eight-game goal streak and has an incredible 14 goals over his past ten games. The Panthers could also see the return of their top center, Aleksander Barkov, who sat out the last game with a lower-body injury and is a game-time decision for tonight’s matchup. A full-strength Florida Panthers lineup is a scary matchup for any team, but against a Minnesota Wild team who have been struggling defensively all season, this game has to be a lock for tonight’s GAME OF THE NIGHT.

We’re back with another edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches. We have an exciting new style for todays article and we have a nice two-gamer for tonight’s Friday Night 1/12 NHL action. The first puck drop begins at 8:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

    1/12 NHL Stack Report

    1. Dallas Stars 1 (Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski)

    — With just two matchups on today’s slate there is not a lot of variety for Daily Fantasy lines. Dallas is far and away the biggest favorite on the slate and holds the highest implied total after coming off a 7-2 win against the Minnesota Wild. Tonight, Dallas will be looking to embark on a three-game winning streak and their top performers will need to keep up their current momentum to make it happen. Robertson has been leading Dallas’ successful offence as of late with goals in each of his last three games and nine points over his last seven games. His linemates, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski have been just as impressive as of late with both also scoring in the win over the Wild. Dallas’ whole top line presents a scoring threat to the Predators and they will eventually overcome Nashville’s underperforming defense that has allowed an average of 3.17 goals against per game.

Welcome back to another edition of the Man Advantage. We get a solid 10 game slate tonight with some glaringly obvious plays. With that, we will have to find out how to be different. Let’s look at the best NHL DFS plays for tonight. Good luck!

    Goalies

Stuart Skinner – Edmonton Oilers: This is your cash play on the night, as the Oilers head to Chicago to face the Blackhawks.

Martin Jones – Toronto Maple Leafs: If you aren’t comfortable with Skinner in cash, Jones is another solid play that should get the win with limited upside.

Joey Daccord – Seattle Kraken: Daccord has been very solid so far this season, especially recently. He gets a good matchup tonight against the Sabres. There is a little risk in this, but ride the hot hand tonight.

Jacob Markstrom – Calgary Flames: The Flames host the Senators tonight and this should be a solid matchup for Markstrom and the Flames.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders: The Isles host the Canucks tonight, who are on the second half of a traveling back to back. Sorokin has been inconsistent this year, but there is a ton of upside in this play. Vancouver has been hot, so they may well just keep rolling tonight, so the risk is very much there.

Others to Consider: Connor Hellebuyck (WPG), Sergei Bobrovsky (FLA)

    Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Edmonton Oilers Power Play – Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins/Zach Hyman/Evan Bouchard: This is a matchup. Wow. The Oilers against the Hawks tonight, in Chicago. This is going to be a very lopsided game, and this power play should absolutely feast tonight.

Florida Panthers 1 – Aleksander Barkov/Evan Rodrigues/Sam Reinhart/Brandon Montour: The Panthers’ top line has a really nice matchup tonight against the second line for the Blues. You can also roll the power play unit here, but this looks like a spot that should fly a little under the radar.

Toronto Maple Leafs Power Play – Auston Matthews/John Tavares/Mitch Marner/William Nylander/Morgan Rielly: This is another super-chalk play tonight, as the Leafs host the Sharks. The Leafs power play has been very good this year, and the Sharks are, well, the Sharks. This is your other obvious play on the night. Take your pick between these guys and Edmonton.

    High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Nashville Predators Power Play – Ryan O’Reilly/Gustav Nyquist/Filip Forsberg/Colton Sissons/Roman Josi: This unit comes in just outside the top 10 in the league, and faces a middle of the pack PK in Anaheim tonight. Anaheim takes the most penalties per game in the league, so there should be plenty of chances for this unit tonight.

Arizona Coyotes 3 – Jack McBain/Matias Maccelli/Dylan Guenther: This is a nice value play tonight, as this line should see the third line for the Bruins tonight in a solid matchup. There is a bunch of risk here, but if they hit for one or two at virtually no ownership, you will be in a good spot.

Seattle Kraken 2 – Alex Wennberg/Jaden Schwartz/Brandon Tanev: This line is in a good spot tonight against Buffalo. They should see the second line for the night, setting them up for a great matchup. Make sure Schwartz is in fact back in tonight.

Calgary Flames 1 – Elias Lindholm/Yegor Sharangovich/Jonathan Huberdeau/Rasmus Andersson: The Flames are in a good spot tonight, and this top line should see their share of chances. There isn’t a ton of specific line matching here, which is what makes them high risk.

Winnipeg Jets 3 – Adam Lowry/Mason Appleton/Nino Niederreiter: This line takes the top opposing line when they are on home ice, setting them up for a nice little matchup tonight.
