Top Expensive Line

Buffalo One – Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, Zemgus Girgensons

Buffalo will be huge chalk, as they are a -195 favorite with a very high 3.79 implied goal total. You will definitely want to have Jack Eichel in cash games and most tournaments. I guess the decision is who you want to add from there. Sam Reinhart would be the preferred pairing as both share power play time, with Zemgus Girgensons available for additional savings and full line correlation. I think Reinhart will be popular enough I will likely just pair him with Eichel given the short slate. Ottawa should be tired after a 4-3 overtime shootout loss to the Devils. The Sabres should be able to take advantage and get their second half started off on the right foot. Ottawa has been atrocious on the road this season and that trend should continue.

Top Value Line

St. Louis Two – David Perron, Ryan O’Reilly, Zach Sanford

The St. Louis Blues second line does not have phenomenal numbers by any means, but this is more of a gut call. They are simply too talented to not have some positive regression during the season’s second half. This game is a pick-em with a 2.75 implied goal total for each team, but if I had to flip a coin I would go with the visiting Blues. If you have a strong feeling regarding another one of the Blues lines go for it, as none jumps out as the clear leader of the pack right now. I do like this line though, especially with Zach Sanford heating up as of late.

1/28 Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Jack Eichel, Johnny Gaudreau, David Perron – Over 2.5 Points – The 2.5 point bet is down to 20/29 as Roman Josi and John Carlson were complete busts. We will get back at it tonight. This slate isn’t deep, but you can pick two solid options from what is there to go with Jack Eichel. In the alternative, you can also opt for Sam Reinhart but I decided to spread things out a bit more teamwise.

Welcome to Zak’s Puck Picks!! I started in Cash with Flash Handicapping Challenge and have been heating up. I am super excited to keep the momentum going and win some serious money with all of you!

A big part of my life is my 3 kids. Each one of them holds a different attribute that I would personally use to aid me in deciding what picks to make. My twins Pork and Ribs and their little brother Bean (not their real names but very appropriate nicknames).

Pork is a doer. He is one to dive into a situation and figure it out as it unfolds, usually with great success. In terms of the puck pick, it will be a gut feeling pick and be backed with some stats to explain the feeling.

Ribs, he likes to observe the situation, take in all the information, and then make an educated decision on what his next step will be. His puck pick will be focused around teams that are on hot streaks, either against a team in a matchup or on a winning streak.

Now Bean may sound cute and innocent, but he is a wild man. Not a lot of thought goes into actions and if there is some thought, its geared towards “how can I push Dad’s buttons”. His puck pick will be a little more on the risky side. There will be reasons why I think we should go this way.

As cook by trade and hockey as a passion since I was 3 years old, let’s get some puck picks in the oven and make some dough shall we?

All odds are referenced from vegasinsider.com. I will play ALL the picks mentioned in these articles.

Puck Record. The month of January #30dayhandicappingchalenge (43-42) article picks (16-18) (1-2 all-star game)

Apparently Draisaitl and Tkachuk put aside their differences to lead the Pacific past the Central and look really good in the process. That was some fancy puck-moving! Back to regular-season business and I couldn’t be happier!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Toronto -106

A healthier Austin Matthews, after sitting out of the puck action at the all-star game should be what the doctor ordered for the Leafs to get back to their winning ways. Where stripping the puck has been an issue for both teams of late, I think the Leafs have a better goal-scoring ability. Even though the Predators have won the last two games against the Leafs, they have only won 4 of their last 10. The stats Newsday sports provide that has me believing the Leafs will come out Victorious is their 4th in league scoring with 3.571 goals per game against Nashville’s 23rd ranked goals per game allowed with 3.313 goals per game.

Rib’s Puck Pick- San Jose-167

Neither of these has been very good. Anaheim has won their last two games on the road and has a ton of young up and coming talent. The problem is, they are not there yet. San Jose is and their (13-11-4) home record has not been playing well either. Another victim of a coach firing and they have not faired well under new coach Bob Bugner either. I think the talent is there for the Sharks in this one and provided a much-needed confidence boost to one Tomas Hertl. They definitely have more puck firepower than the 30th overall goal scoring team in Anaheim. The Sharks need to start this “second half” with a win, and I think it comes tonight.

Bean’s Puck Pick – Vancouver -103

The Canucks have been an absolute fire at home as of late winning their last 8 games at Rogers Arena. All-star Jordan Binnington, lost his last two starts heading into the break. I am going to follow both of these trends here and put my money on the “nucks”. The season series is split with both games going to at least overtime, so this one should be a tight one. The +1 ½ puck line might also be a good bet here. Right now Vegas Insider has that line for Vancouver at -182.

There are a few other matchups I like, however, it depends who starts in goal. I like the Canadians against the Capitals depending on who the pick stopper is. Stay tuned to the #nhl and # sports betting tabs on Discord, as well as Twitter for any changes or more potential matchups as more news unfolds!

I am very excited to join this team of highly skilled people at Win Daily. If you have any further questions, please feel free to find me on the Win Daily Discord chat (@Zak PRB) or on Twitter (@PRBpuckpicks) Thank you to you all for reading, let’s go make some bacon.

Top Expensive Line

Nashville Two – Filip Forsberg, Matt Duchene, Mikael Granlund, Add-Ons: Mattias Ekholm, Roman Josi

There are multiple Nashville lines in play tomorrow, as the Predators are a -120 favorite in a high total game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nashville might have an equal record both home and away so far this season, but historically have a pretty big edge at home. Toronto knows how to score, but can also give up their fair share of goals, as demonstrated by the 165 that they have already surrendered this year. While expensive, this line is by no means over the top in terms of price. Mattias Ekholm is the natural pairing if adding a defenseman, as he is paired with the second unit, and shares time with two of the three skaters listed above on the second power-play unit. However, Roman Josi is certainly another strong option, particularly given how often defensemen have cross-line shifts.

Top Value Line

Ottawa One – Brady Tkachuk, Anthony Duclair, Artem Anisimov

An unusual guest in the article, the Senators are a -130 home favorite against the New Jersey Devils and will be looking to get the second half of their season started on the right foot. I am not very interested in the second or third lines here as there is no need to try to be too creative when you’re already siding with the Senators. If you were to leave one skater off, it would be Artem Anisimov, who does not see any power playtime. The Devils were skidding before the break, losing 5-0, 5-2, and 7-4 games to close out the first half. I prefer this line on FanDuel where they are insanely cheap.

1/27 NHL DraftKings Rankings

Forwards

  1. Auston Matthews – Toronto Maple Leafs – $8,400
  2. Filip Forsberg – Nashville Predators – $6,100
  3. Blake Coleman – New Jersey Devils – $5,400
  4. Jakub Vrana – Washington Capitals – $5,700
  5. Anthony Duclair – Ottawa Senators – $5,500

Defensemen

  1. Roman Josi – Nashville Predators – $7,800
  2. John Carlson – Washington Capitals – $7,200
  3. Brent Burns – San Jose Sharks – $6,500
  4. Sami Vatanen – New Jersey Devils – $4,000
  5. Rasmus Sandin – Toronto Maple Leafs – $3,300

Goalies

  1. Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning – $8,100
  2. Ben Bishop – Dallas Stars – $7,200

  4. Jakob Vrana – Washington Capitals – $5,600
  5. Anthony Duclair – Ottawa Senators – $4,200

  2. John Carlson – Washington Capitals – $7,200
  3. Sami Vatanen – New Jersey Devils – $4,500
  4. Mattias Elkholm – Nashville Predators – $4,200
  5. Rasmus Sandin – Toronto Maple Leafs – $3,600

  1. Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning – $9,300
  2. Brendan Holtby – Washington Capitals – $8,000

1/27 Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Roman Josi, John Carlson, Auston Matthews – Over 2.5 Points – The 2.5 point is at 20/28 going into the second half. An assist is as good as a goal, so first let’s plugin a couple of high-end defensemen. Auston Matthews will return to action tomorrow night, so it makes sense to plug him in to fill out the third and final spot.

As cook by trade and hockey as a passion since I was 3 years old, let’s get some puck picks in the oven and make some dough shall we?

All odds are referenced from vegasinsider.com

Puck Record. The month of January #30dayhandicappingchalenge (42-40) article picks (15-16) (2-0 Wednesday one pick was a gut feel added pre-game on Discord and twitter). I also put up a Liverpool ML winner on Twitter and Discord, But this is Puck Picks so that clearly doesn’t count!

All-Star competition Edition! Disclaimer; as I usually play all the picks I write about, the all-star game is really anyone’s so I will make reference at the end of the write up about which ones I will be putting money on!

FASTEST SKATER; Connor McDavid.

Not only has this guy won this event every year he has been in it, but I also heard a reference today from Sportsnet 960’s Ryan Pinder on my way to work where he said: “This guy would get a speeding ticket in a school zone”. Even coming off of an almost year-ending knee injury, he still has the best jets in the NHL. McDavid will be the 3-time champ!

Potential upset: Nathan McKinnon.

I will be betting on this one!!

SAVE STREAK- Jacob Markstrom

This is a tough event where you always seem to have a guy come out of nowhere to take this win. I was thinking about the home town hero Jordan Binnington, but that’s too obvious. BIG SAVE DAVE Rittich? Nah, he’ll get a little goofy in this one I think. Markstrom has been a solid puck stopper in Vancouver this year and really has a shot. According to records.nhl.com, Markstrom holds the second-highest career save percentage in a shootout with a minimum of 40 shots against, within this group of goalies. The only one that is higher…

Potential upset: Andre Vasalevski– he sits second all-time on the list mentioned above where Markstrom sits 15th.

I feel good about this pick and will put a little on it

Accuracy shooting. Leon Draisaitl

You are not tied for 6th in league goal-scoring if you don’t have an accurate shot. Oh and the guy he is tied with is also the best player in the game. With an 18.8% shooting percentage and sitting second on this list. This German puck Sniper really has a solid chance to take this one home

Potential upset: Mark Scheifele

Boasting a 19.8% shooting percentage, he is the only one higher than Draisaitl on the list of the shooter. Stats gathered at foxsports.com

Will play this one small, but I like my chances

Hardest shot: John Carlson

He has won it the last three years running and currently leads the NHL with 11 goals by a defenseman. 102.8 mph was his win last year and his mark to beat this year. This guy can hammer a puck!

Potential upset: Elias Peterson!!! Only kidding. This guy weighs 120lbs after showering with his equipment on. Victor Hedman is my potential upset. Stats for D at NHL.com

I like this one too. I will probably play a unit here as well.

 Shooting stars- David Pasternak

This is a new event where the players are in the stands and try to fire pucks out onto the ice and hit certain targets. Pasternak seems like he might be good at this as he won the accuracy competition last year. The only time I have seen anyone else do this is Malkin and Crosby in a YouTube video, and of course, they aren’t in it. So why not take Mr. Accuracy.

Potential upset: Patrick Kane

Women’s 3 on 3 tournaments. – Canada

Now I try to write unbiased and follow the facts, however, as a proud Canadian, I can not possibly go against this proud nation and creator of Vulcanized Rubber (the material pucks are made of). The stats don’t follow this trend as the US has had Canada’s number in the last two tournaments. As fellow proud Canadian Allan ( Win Daily Writer of NHL Stack and Track) we just can not bet against the home team here.

Potential upset: Me, if anything other than a Team Canada Victory.

I have to put my money where my mouth is now!

As this is a once a year thing with some new events I warn you to tread lightly on these puck picks as all of these guys are really good and anything could happen, but these are my thoughts through the research I have done.

I am very excited to join this team of highly skilled people at Win Daily. If you have any further questions, please feel free to find me on the Win Daily Discord chat (@Zak PRB) or on Twitter (@PRBpuckpicks) Thank you to you all for reading, let’s go make some bacon.

The Brothers Puck PickColumbus -139

The Jackets have been playing some very inspired hockey these days winning 8 of their last 10 games and on a 5 game winning streak. Not to mention that Elvis is in the building and stopping pucks like they are peanut butter and banana sandwiches. This will be Winnipeg’s second game of a back to back common off of a ___ to Carolina. The Jets have been inconsistent lately and haven’t been playing well, losing 4 of their last 5. Even though Winnipeg owns a 3 and 2 record between these two, including wins in their last 3 matchups, I see Columbus’ 2nd overall GAA being the catalyst in their victory.

Welcome to WinDaily’s newest edition of the NHL Stack and Track! In this article, the 1/22 NHL Stack and Track, we will look at the top NHL stacks at each price range and rank the best and the worst goalie spots to target in tonight’s mini two-game slate as we approach the NHL all-star break.

1/22 NHL Stack Report

  1. Winnipeg Jets One $$$
    Laine – Scheifele– Connor (FanDuel: $21,100 | DraftKings: $19,600)
    – This line is facing off against the chalk goalie of the slate but I cannot ignore both the production capabilities of this top line as well as the early season struggles of Elvis Merzlikins. He has been as of late but in a two-game GPP tournament, he is not my favorite spot. The only issue is there really is nowhere else to go in net tonight. Winnipeg’s top line will be low owned and I do think they can administer some damage tonight and crash the chalk, not to mention both Scheif and Connor find themselves among the top 15 in goals and Scheif is in the top 15 in points this season.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Neal Pionk (FD: $4,400 | DK: $4,300)
  2. Colombus Blue Jackets One $$
    Bjorkstrand – Dubois – N. Foligno (FanDuel: $15,900 | DraftKings: $14,500)
    – Oh boy, this line is hot, and tonight they’ll be going against Brossoit who has been rather lackluster this season. Bjorkstrand has not lost a step since returning to the Blue Jackets line up after an oblique injury. Over his last five starts, Bjorky has NINE points over his past five games!! Bjork has regularly been a slate breaker as of late and I will have my fair share of him and his linemates tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Zach Werenski (FD: $6,600 | DK: $6,000)
  3. Minnesota Wild Three $
    Kunin – Eriksson Ek – M. Foligno (FanDuel: $10,800 | DraftKings: $11,700)
In small slates, you’ll need to look for those plays that will allow you to differentiate your line from the rest of the pack and yes Minnesota’s top line is the most sensible play against Howard but in a GPP setting it will be low owned value plays such as the Wild’s checking line. Not to mention Kunin has been hot with 11 points in his last 12 and Marcus Foligno has recorded four in his last five, with Eriksson Ek rounding off the line with four points in his last four.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Jared Spurgeon (FD: $4,800 | DK: $5,500)

    Honorable Mention(s): Minnesota Wild One

1/22 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Elvis Merzlikins (FD: $8,500 | DK: $8,100)
  2. Devan Dubnyk (FD: $7,200 | DK: $8,400)

Worst

  1. Jimmy Howard (FD: $7,200 | DK: $6,900)
  2. Jimmy Howard (FD: $7,200 | DK: $6,900)
  3. Jimmy Howard (FD: $7,200 | DK: $6,900)
    Honorable Mention(s): Jimmy Howard

1/22 NHL Wild Card of the Day

Cam Atkinson (FD: $6,800 | DK: $5,600
– Cam is in an interesting situation as he has been extremely hot as of late with five points in his last three games, however, he doesn’t correlate well with Colombus’ top line. Hopefully, the power play will shift and include him on the top unit but even if that is not the case, Atkinson represents a solid punt option for tonight’s two gamer.
Honorable Mention(s): Kulikov, Ehlers, Bemstrom

Game Stack of the Day:
MIN1/DET1
HM: WPG1/CBJ1

1/22 NHL Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Matthews-Tavares-Gaudreau – Putting Up Points  The Jets average 30.9 shots per game and Columbus allows on average 30.3 per game, even if Elvis lets a few in it should not be an issue for him to reach the 27.5 thresholds, this is also surprisingly low given that he has well surpassed this threshold for majority of the season

Honorable Mention(s): Blake Wheeler – Less than 4.5 Fantasy Points

Top Expensive Line

Columbus Two – Gustav Nyquist, Alexander Wennberg, Cam Atkinson

Winnipeg comes in on the back end of a road back to back and Columbus will have an opportunity to add more points before the break-in what has already been an unexpectedly decent season for them. The Jets are still giving up tons of goals as illustrated in last night’s loss to the Hurricanes. It turns out the Jets saved the awful Laurent Brossoit with his 3.67 GAA/.855 SV% for tonight’s game, after using Connor Hellebuyck last night. Not surprisingly, Columbus goalie Elvis Merzlikins will be the most popular goalie on the slate by contrast. None of the other three options are very appealing as their numbers are all very weak, to put it nicely.

Top Value Line

Minnesota Three – Marcus Foligno, Joel Eriksson Ek, Luke Kunin

No ordinary third line, the Minnesota Wild’s has been a top ten line over their last ten games by most standards. The Wild get one of the best matchups that anyone could ask for, against the Detroit Red Wings, at home. On DraftKings, they are priced a little bit over what you would normally expect from a third line but are still cheap in the grand scheme of things. On Fanduel, where they cost even less, they are an absolute steal. The Minnesota third line has eight full line goals over their last ten games, and while I would not expect that pace to continue, it may persist a while longer on the basis of this juicy matchup.

Dylan Larkin, Zach Parise, Cam Atkinson – Over 2.5 Points – The 2.5 point bet remained at 19/27 as it had to be canceled due to Artemi Panarin’s scratch right before lock. Top Expensive Line

Boston One – David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron

If paying up for a top line, you can’t do much better than the Boston Bruins first unit. With the all-star break on tap they should be ready to let it all out and provide of us with a reminder of just how good a first half it has been for them. The alternative would be the Panther’s top line but they will be on the second night of a road back to back. As a result, the Blackhawks are a favorite in that game. Boston meanwhile comes in a -145 home favorite and should be able to exploit a Las Vegas team just looking to escape the first half of the season after a controversial coaching change.

Top Value Line

Carolina Two – Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Warren Foegele

Carolina is a decent -180 home favorite as of the time of writing, as they will get a fairly nice matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. This line has remained cheap and to be fair, that is in part because they have all been underwhelming recently. However, the talent is still undeniable and at their price, they are worth taking a shot on. The Winnipeg Jets have allowed the most road goals in the NHL over the last month. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have been much better at home this season, where they sport a stellar 16-8-1 record. It will likely be the awful Laurent Brossoit in net for the Jets, who comes in sporting a 3.67 GAA/.855 SV% this season.

This article focuses on NHL DFS Picks for 1/20 on DraftKings and FanDuel. Both sites have fairly different scoring formats, particularly with the recent changes on DraftKings. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large. BE SURE to double-check both regular and power play lines at both morning skate and before lock as they can drastically change from the time of publication.

Top Expensive Line

Colorado One – Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog.

There is no need to get cute on a two game slate. Build around the Colorado top line, who will hosting our favorite punching bag, the abysmal Detroit Red Wings. The Avs are a -330 favorite with a 4.33 implied goal total, which are both extreme for NHL purposes. Even if this were a ten game slate, they would likely be at the top of the rankings. In cash games, I would prioritize having all three and any tournament fade is merely to be contrarian. I think that you need a piece though no matter what the format.

Top Value Line

Florida Two – Noel Acciari, Vincent Trocheck, Brett Connolly

On FanDuel this line is just simply way too cheap. Noel Acciari is probably the stand out play at a very low $4,000 price tag on a slate that you need savings in order to fit Colorado One. He will no doubt be very popular and a staple of most cash lines on that site. On DraftKings, you can also consider the Minnesota Wild’s top line. However, the Panthers second line has been outproducing them and Florida is the road favorite. The price admittedly is not quite as appealing as it is on FanDuel but since savings are needed, they are still a strong play. The Panthers second line remains the third hottest line in the NHL over their past ten games, with nine full line goals and 131 SATF for, during that span.

Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Dylan Larkin – Over 2.5 Points – The 2.5 point bet is down to 18/26 after a slow night on a three game slate. We should be able to bounce back here with the Colorado top line. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to mix games on this slate, so we will need to include one Red Wing.

I will play ALL of the puck picks I write about in these articles

Puck Record. The month of January #30dayhandicappingchalenge (38-39) article picks (10-13) (1-2 Sunday)

I don’t know about you but I think it is time for a winning sweep of picks. Here we go!

Pork’s Puck Pick- Minnesota -129

Full disclosure, I was not going to play this one. The more I looked into this puck battle, the more confused I became. Both teams are scoring goals with ease and have really settled down defensively. Goalie Bob has started to settle into the Panthers scheme and came back from injury strong against Detroit the other night. Both teams are on winning streaks (FLA 4 straight and MIN 2). So I decided to scrap this and take the money on Colorado vs Detroit. I thought “Only a 2 game slate, you get 2 wins you are back to .500 in the Cash with Flash handicapping challenge. Go Find Something!!”. So I did. Thanks to the Newsday sports page I see that Minnesota has won 10 of their last 11 home games. Not only that, Florida has struggled on the road this year going 5-5 in their last 10 road starts. (Losses to Carolina, Tampa Bay, Washington, Columbus, Buffalo). Another reason to believe in Minnesota is they have won 7 of their last 10 meetings against FLA. I expect this to be a close one, but after dismantling Dallas 7-0 in their last game, Minnesota rides that momentum to tame the Cats.

Rib’s Puck PickColorado PUCK LINE -1.5(-120)

What a great classic matchup this is! All those fantastic games between the late 90’s early 2000. Yzerman vs. Sakic, Roy vs Vernon (great scrap in there too!), Lidstrom vs Foote! These days you have… McKinnon vs Larkin? Makar vs… um Hronek maybe? Oh but the puck stoppers! Grubauer vs Jimmy Howa… ya, you catch my drift! Take the puck money and run! As a side note, Dylan Larkin seems to matchup-proof and manages to get points almost every game. Might be something to look at for DFS or monkey knife fight!

Bean’s Puck Pick- Panthers at Minnesota OVER / UNDER; Take Over 6 (-120)

The most recent 7 battles between these two squads have seen at least 6 pucks light the lamp. With the way these two teams have been scoring lately I don’t see this game being much different. Both squads have had at least one day off and should be well-rested for this one.

I am very excited to join this team of highly skilled people at Win Daily. If you have any further questions, please feel free to find me on the Win Daily Discord chat (@Zak PRB) or on Twitter (@PRBpuckpicks) Thank you to you all for reading, let’s go make some bacon!
