NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/2

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/2. A solid 2-1 night with the Canes hanging on to win in OT and the Blues/Ducks putting up a bunch of goals just how we chalked it up. The Jets laid an egg but the Canucks also had all of the bounces go their way, according to their beat writer Thomas Drance of The Athletic.

It happens, and they play again tonight so maybe we just ride them again today. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Flyers/Penguins Over 6.5 Goals (+102)
  • Flyers Puck Line (+1.5, -286) over the Penguins
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +175) over the Sabres
  • Jets Money Line (-139) over the Canucks
  • Canes Money Line (-125) over the Predators
  • Lightning Money Line (-165) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +163) over the Stars

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies. This is an obvious spot for the Canadiens to shred into the Senators coming off a big win last night against the Flames. However I unfortunately have ruled out betting on the Canadiens for the remainder of the season since they have burned me one too many times. But I do like them tonight (especially in regulation), I just can’t take them.

My Picks

Free Picks

Flyers ML (-106): Sidney Crosby has been ruled out tonight so I grabbed this price as soon as the news broke. The line has adjusted accordingly to -120ish on most books, which I still don’t hate that price. No goaltending advantage for either side as Hart and Jarry have underperformed a little bit this season but both were very solid last season. The Flyers are finally healthy and should have a decent advantage over the Crosby-less Penguins tonight.

Rangers/Sabres Under 5.5 Goals (-108): Gross. An under. The Sabres and the Rangers are 3rd and 4th to last in the League in total goals/game (5.00 and 5.19 respectively). The Sabres also have struggled mightily at 5v5 on generating scoring chances. My only area of concern is that the Sabres have a pretty lethal PP and the Rangers spend the second most time on the PK in the League/game (6.3 minutes). We’re hoping the Rangers stay disciplined and King Igor shuts down this weak Sabres offense.

Premium Pick

Jets ML -127: We’re doing it again tonight. The Jets were flat last night and the Canucks had 3 lucky goals in my opinion. I think the Jets come out strong tonight and try to split this back-to-back. Both backups tonight in goal. In 4 games this season, backup goalie for the Jets Laurent Brossoit has played surprisingly well and Canucks goalie Braden Holtby has not. This is a great bounce back spot for the Jets and I like it tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/1

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/1. An easy 1-0 day after the Blackhawks hit the over (5.5, -110) by themselves with a 7-2 victory over Detroit. Not to mention all 3 Dashboard Edges hit yesterday as well, so we had quite a day. We have 7 games on the slate tonight let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Jets Money Line (-136) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +185) over the Canucks
  • Ducks Puck Line (+1.5, -225) over the Blues

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies today. Not too many dashboard edges today but those two for the Jets are quite significant. The Leafs are hoping Auston Matthews will be ready to play tonight but he is officially a game-time decision.

My Picks

Free Picks

Jets ML (-136): The Canucks have played better of late, but so have the Jets coming off 2 wins in their mini-series with the Canadiens. The Jets top line of Dubois-Schiefele-Wheeler has now had a few games under their belt and you can see the chemistry they’re building. The first game of a back-to-back against each other and the Jets confirmed Hellebuyck in net, we are taking them tonight.

Blues/Ducks Over 5.5 Goals (-103): Ville Husso is confirmed for the Blues which makes me really like this over. He has not had a good year posting a 3.77 GAA and a 0.879 SV%. Gibson on the other hand usually is an elite goaltender but has taken a step back this season. The Ducks have had trouble scoring goals and hitting their overs this year, but I think this is a good spot for them to take some people by surprise tonight.

Premium Pick

Hurricanes ML (-105): The Panthers have had a very hot start to the season while the Hurricanes have had a good not great start. I think the Hurricanes are the better team, and even have a slight edge in goaltending. But with Duclair out for the Panthers and them having to adjust their top line, I like the Hurricanes to take advantage of that spot here and play a strong game.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Monday night March 1st! Tonight is a big slate with 7 games on the schedule, and for a change we have a back loaded schedule with four games at 10pm eastern or later!

Monday’s slate features some of the league’s top players, but one player we are still waiting for information on his status is Auston Matthews ($9,000). Matthews missed Saturday’s game with Edmonton and while he did practice Sunday, he skated with the extra players and did not take any hard shots. It looks like, as of Sunday night, that Matthews is trending in the wrong direction and won’t be available for Monday’s game either. I will of course have updates on his status in discord on Monday though.

Monday night’s slate is shaping up to be a very high scoring slate with Vegas having four of the seven games with 6.5 over/under totals. There are two games I am most interested in though, Florida @ Carolina and Colorado @ San Jose.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

There are two goaltenders that stand out to me on this slate as top options and both are from the same game, St. Louis at Anaheim. Assuming both team’s number one goalies start we should see John Gibson ($7,300/$6,900) and Jordan Binnington ($8,000/$7,500) in net, that is if Binnington isn’t out there pretending to punch players and getting into fights with the opposing goalie again. Bininngton is actually priced in a spot on DraftKings where I feel comfortable to play him tonight and Gibson is ALWAYS in play for me.

After Binnington and Gibson, Connor Hellebuyck ($8,200 on both sites) is my next option in net. Hellebuyck has won three straight starts for Winnipeg and four of five. If you think Ottawa’s offense regresses some Monday (4 goals per game average in their last 5) then you could also consider David Rittich ($8,300 on both sites) a top option, but for me, I’d rather play some Ottawa skaters over Rittich.

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Like I mentioned in the open, Florida @ Carolina and Colorado @ San Jose is where I want to focus. Starting with the Panthers who have recently shaken up their lines and put Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,500/$7,300) and Aleksander Barkov ($6,900/$7,500) back together on their top line. This line will be a great play in my opinion but they will potentially be higher owned. Since I feel Florida’s number one line will be popular, I’d rather look to use their second line for value. Patric Hornqvist ($6,000/$6,300) is still on line 2, but he does play with the top guys from line 1 on the first power-play unit. Both Frank Vatrano ($3,600/$3,900) and Alex Wennberg ($3,600/$4,500) play with Hornqvist on line two and on the second power-play unit. Aaron Ekblad ($5,200/$5,300) and Keith Yandle ($4,300/$4,600) play on the Panthers top power-play unit, but Anton Stralman ($2,800/$3,700) is a sneaky good play. Stralman is on power play 2 and has been playing well of late for his salary.

When it comes to Carolina, they are more straightforward forward with their second line being the focus of any builds I make involving them. I love how their second line, especially Vincent Trocheck ($5,600/$5,400). Trocheck has a goal in four of his last seven games and is averaging over 3 shots per game in that stretch. Trocheck’s linemate is one of the better plays for the Canes, but has been cold and is due for a big game, of course I mean Nino Niederreiter ($4,400/$4,800). I don’t love the Cane D and really don’t play them, with the exception of Hamilton, but Brett Pesce ($4,000/$4,100) has been hot with one goal and three assists in his last 5 games.

Looking at the late game of Colorado and San Jose they are both strictly one-line teams with maybe a fringe player or two. Obviously, Colorado’s top line is one of the best lines on this slate and pretty much every other slate they are on. San Jose’s top line has been really clicking of late as well and has combined for 10 goals and 9 assists in their last 5 games together. Logan Couture ($6,300/$7,800) is the star of that line right now and he should definitely be a focus of any Sharks stacks. Brent Burns ($6,800/$6,300) is the only defensemen from the Sharks I’d want to roster, especially on FanDuel where he seems cheap. Samuel Girard ($3,400/$5,100) is a good value play at the point on DK, but not so much on FD.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

Top Defensemen

  1. Alex Pietrangelo (VGK)
  2. Thomas Chabot (OTT)
  3. Shea Theodore (VGK)
  4. Darnell Nurse (EDM)
  5. Brent Burns (SJ)
  6. Devon Toews (COL)
  7. Matt Dumba (MIN)
  8. Aaron Ekblad (FLA)
  9. Justin Faulk (STL)
  10. Neal Pionk (WPG)

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Samuel Girard (COL)
  2. Anton Stralman (FLA)
  3. Brett Pesce (CAR)
  4. Jared Spurgeon (MIN)
  5. Adam Larsson (EDM)
  6. Josh Mahura (ANH)
  7. Erik Brannstrom (OTT)
  8. Bowen Byram (COL)
  9. Jordie Benn (VAN)
  10. Zach Whitecloud (VGK)

NHL Betting Picks Sunday 2/28

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Sunday 2/28. A 1-2 day yesterday as Matt Murray let us down by giving up some goals you and me could’ve saved in the Senators/Flames tilt. A good win with the Flyers money line, and then a questionable goal was scored with 10 minutes left in the Golden Knights/Ducks game that pushed it to OT with Vegas ultimately winning. You be the judge if this look like a high stick:

Looks like a high stick to me, but I digress.

Today we have 6 games let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentage for the teams playing today:

To interact with the dashboard click this link.

Dashboard Edges

  • Flyers Money Line (-175) and Puck Line (-1.5, +148) against the Sabres
  • Blackhawks Money Line (-195) against the Red Wings
  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +220) against the Penguins

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies. Not too much to love on the board but there is one play I do like.

My Pick

Blackhawks/Red Wings Over 5.5 Goals: Coming off a 5-3 game yesterday (8 total goals), it’s easy to think that this game will regress to the mean and go under. However, the Red Wings are starting one of the worst goalies in the league this season in Thomas Griess. The Blackhawks are starting rookie Kevin Lankinen who started the season great before having a couple of shaky performances lately. The Blackhawks will come out strong knowing they can’t lose back-to-back games against the Red Wings and I think the over hits again today.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 2/26

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 2/26. We had one play yesterday (Kings/Wild Over 5.5 Goals) which looked great after a 3 goal first period, that ultimately had 1 goal scored the rest of the game. We look to get back in the positive today with a huge 14 game slate tonight, the biggest slate of the season so far.

We have three 1:00 games to start off, let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today:

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Flyers Puckline (-1.5, +188) over the Sabres
  • Lightning Puckline (-1.5, +143) AND Moneyline (-182) over the Stars
  • Islanders Puckline (-1.5, +210) over the Penguins
  • Blackhawks Moneyline (-167) over the Red Wings
  • Jets Moneyline (+102) over the Canadiens
  • Golden Knights Moneyline (-200) over the Ducks
  • Senators/Flames Under (6, -114)

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies as always. With such a big slate it’s difficult to stay disciplined and not get carried away betting on every game. With 7 dashboard edges above too it’s hard not to see some value there as well.

My Picks

Free Picks

Flyers ML (-141): The Flyers essentially have everyone back from COVID playing a Buffalo team whose only wins in the month of February come against New Jersey. Even with Brian Elliot starting for the Flyers I still like this price here. An even bigger edge with the Flyers if Jack Eichel (game-time decision) doesn’t play.

Flames/Senators Under 6 Goals (-114): After a huge 6-1 outburst in their last meeting on Thursday, I expect a lower scoring affair today. Both teams are around 40% on their overs, with the Flames average total goals on the season at 5.34 (Ottawa is at 6.4). I like this 6 number so we push if it is exactly 6 goals.

Premium Pick

Golden Knights in Regulation (-125): Don’t want to overthink this one, Vegas is the significantly better team. They are 3-1 against the Ducks this season (2 wins in regulation, 1 in overtime). The Ducks are in shambles and probably the worst team in the West Division. Both teams have very solid goaltending but Vegas is an all around stronger team and should handle business tonight in 60 minutes.

We’re back with another Saturday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Not a lot of games but given the games going tonight we can expect a lot of goals tonight! So, get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 2/27 NHL slate, we have a nice 10-game slate that begins at 7 pm ET! Let’s get into it!

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. DraftKings has stayed the same but don’t forget last season they revamped the scoring and added stats bonuses, so if you’re new to NHL or haven’t played in a while, check out our live stream on the WinDaily YouTube by clicking here and read through the rules on the site of your choice!

2/27 NHL Stack Report

  1. Chicago Blackhawks 1
    Kane – Suter – DeBrincat (FanDuel: $19,600 | DraftKings: $20,500)
This line has just gone insane as of late, over their past three games they’ve put together 12 points, led by star winger Patrick Kane. All three play on Chicago’s power play and will be facing off against the league bottom-dwelling, Detroit Red Wings. Neither team is great defensively but nothing compares to how bad Detroit’s defence has been this season, averaging over 3 goals allowed per game and having an abysmal penalty kill rate of 70.3%, yikes.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Adam Boqvist (FD: $3,500 | DK: $3,000)
  2. Vegas Golden Knight 1
    Tuch – Stephenson – Stone (FanDuel: $16,100 | DraftKings: $13,500)
    – This new look line from Vegas has a great mix of stars and value that will be very helpful when building DFS lines. Not to mention Vegas has a high implied total at 3.3 (one of the highest on the slate) in what is essentially a mismatch against the Anaheim Ducks. Despite COVID getting in the way of the Golden Knights season, they still sit atop the west division while the Ducks are stuck at the bottom. There is a lot of firepower on this slate and in GPPs you’ll need to be different to win. Vegas will give you the separation you need, with multi-point potential.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Shea Theodore (FD: $6,400 | DK: $6,600)

Honorable Mention(s): Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (Matthews GTD), Colorado Avalanche 1, Edmonton Oilers 1, Winnipeg Jets 1, Calgary Flames 1, Vegas Golden Knights 2, Minnesota Wild 2

2/27 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Marc-Andre Fleury (FD: $8,500 | DK: $8,500)
  2. Andrei Vasilevskiy (FD: $8,700 | DK: $8,400)
  3. (SPECIAL) Jack Campbell (if he plays he’s mispriced) (FD: $6,500 | DK: $7,400)

Honorable Mention(s): Adin Hill, Kappo Kahkonen, Jordan Binnington, Kevin Lankinen

Worst

  1. Thomas Greiss (FD: $6,700 | DK: $6,500)
Honorable Mention(s): Tristan Jarry, Juuse Saros, Matt Murray

2/27 NHL Wild Card Targets

Mats Zuccarello (FD: $5,200 | DK: $4,400)
– Not really sure what else to say, Zucc has been picked up right up where he left off after his stellar season last year. The Norweigan native has proved to be an excellent partner aside rookie sensation Kirill Kaprizov. Together they have 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points, amongst themselves. We’ve seen their price rise tremendously as of late and I don’t see that stopping if they can continue their run of form.
Stack with Kirill Kaprizov (FD: $5,000 | DK: $4,300)

Honorable Mention(s): Jean Gabriel Pageau, Gabe Vilardi, Pierre Luc Dubois

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre (Auston Matthews if he plays)

Winger Patrick Kane/Mark Stone (Stone is way too cheap on DK)

Defence Shea Theodore

Goalie Jack Campbell (if he plays) (Misprice)

NHL Betting Picks Friday 2/26

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 2/26. A 1-1 night with our underdog Winnipeg Jets climbing out of a 3-1 hole to score 5 unanswered in a 6-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens. A FIFTH straight profitable night for The Model, let’s see if we can get to 6 in a row.

Only 3 games on the slate today let’s take a look at the profitability and over win percentage for the teams playing tonight:

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -186) over the Bruins
  • Bruins Money Line (-165) over the Rangers
  • Kings/Wild Over 5.5 Goals (-103)

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies before placing your bets. A weak slate with pretty solid pricing from the books makes me not want to touch any money lines tonight, therefore my pick will be on an over/under.

My Pick:

Kings/Wild Over 5.5 Goals (-103): The Kings have been one of the luckiest teams in the past couple of weeks and sport a 5-game winning streak. They currently have the 3rd highest High Danger Save Percentage, a number that is not sustainable for a team like the Kings. They are 30th in Expected Goals For% and High Danger Chances For. The Wild are coming off a 6 goal effort against an elite team in the Avalanche and generate the 2nd most High Danger Chances For. With the total being only 5.5 and getting almost even odds, I think we are getting good value here. The Kings goaltending will regress to the mean as will their offense, but with both teams hitting over 50% of their overs we are taking it tonight.

Let’s go for 6 straight nights of profit!

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 2/25

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 2/25. We had an easy 1-0 night with the Tampa Bay Lightning easily defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0. Once that goaltending matchup was announced I knew we instantly had an edge on the books so I hope you tailed! We have 10 games on the slate today.

Let’s take a look at the profitability and over win percentage of the teams playing tonight:

Dashboard Betting Edges

  • Oilers ML (-132) over the Canucks
  • Blackhawks +1.5 (-250) over the Blue Jackets
  • Capitals/Penguins Over 6.5 (-107)

Let’s keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies today.

There are couple lines I like today but won’t officially play:

The Devils ML (-109) against the Sabres. They lost their last two games to Buffalo but are the better team and have the goaltending edge. They should eventually be able to be at Buffalo but they’ve burned me the last two games so I can’t play them here.

Flames -1.5 (+155) against the Senators. Give the Sens some credit they have won a few games no one expected them to and DJ Smith has them playing some decent hockey. Having said that they are simply not a good hockey team as currently constructed. I thought the Flames played well in their 2 game series against Toronto, with solid goaltending from David Rittich. I like the Flames to handle the Sens by a decent margin tonight.

My Picks:

Blue Jackets ML -122: Columbus is coming off of a tough loss to Chicago on Tuesday in a high scoring affair. They return to play them again tonight. Columbus has a strong goaltending edge as Subban is confirmed for Chicago and Korpisalo for Columbus, which is driving the value in Columbus’s favor. Laine and Roslovic have fit in seamlessly since being traded from Winnipeg and Columbus should take care of business tonight.

Jets ML +110: The Canadiens are coming off a bad loss to the Senators on Tuesday which led to the dismissal of their head coach Claude Julien. Winnipeg won both of their games in their mini 2 game series against Vancouver, with the last one coming on Sunday. Hellebuyck should be in goal for Winnipeg which will give them the goaltending edge.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 2/24

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 2/24. A decent 1-1 day with our dog the Chicago Blackhawks (+115) winning a wild 6-5 game in a shootout and allowing us to be profitable on the day. Unfortunately the Devils (-127) laid an absolute egg against the Sabres.

Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today:

The biggest edges based on this dashboard for tonight’s matchups are Kings +1.5 (-195) over the Blues, Panthers ML (-137) over the Stars, and the Maple Leafs/Flames Under (6, -120).

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies.

My Pick:

Lightning ML -145: The only pick of the night. The Model really likes the Lightning and gives them around a -180 edge with the confirmed goalie matchup of Vasilevskiy (TB) and Nedeljkovic (CAR). The line will probably move to -155/-160 shortly so I would take it while you can. Tampa looked like the better team when they played on Monday, and with Carolina most likely getting the better goaltending matchup when they meet again tomorrow, I’d take Tampa tonight.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night February 24th and we have a five-game slate on tap!

Wednesday’s slate is practically a repeat of the slate we broke down for Monday night, but there are some differences. Toronto is still the highest projected scoring team on the slate. Their lineup isn’t ideal right now after a rash of injuries, but Auston Matthews ($9,000/$9,300) is still the hottest player in the NHL. Matthews is coming off one of his first bad games on the season and is due for a bounce-back game. On the other side of the ice from the Leafs is the Flames again, and if Frederick Andersen ($8,200/$8,700) is out and Hutchinson has to play then the Flames and Matthew Tkachuk ($6,100/$5,600) are a top play as well. Something to monitor on Wednesday is the status of the Rangers/Flyers game. There was some talk that this game could be postponed because of the Artemi Panarin situation, make sure you are in the discord for updates regarding that game

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

FanDuel’s utter disrespect for Jordan Binnington ($7,600) continues on Wednesday night. They did price him up a couple hundred from Monday but still it is just too easy to play him. I will personally be playing a stack of Los Angeles Kings against Binnington, and I will explain why later, but if you play FanDuel, not playing Binner is hard than playing him is.

As for DraftKings, I will once again be fading the top options in both Binnington ($8,300) and Philipp Grubauer ($8,500). They are both good options, with apparent easy games, but at those prices and against teams that are actually playing really well right now, I will take my chances elsewhere. As long as the Rangers/Flyers game is played, Carter Hart ($7,800/$7,900) against a Rangers team without their best player is my top option. Hart is coming off a bad game in Lake Tahoe against Boston, but before that Hart went 3-0-2 with 30.8 saves per game in his last 5 starts.

Other options: Darcy Kuemper ($8,000/$8,200), John Gibson ($7,400/$6,700), Calvin Petersen ($6,900)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Like on Monday night, Calgary/Toronto is the highest projected game, but you already know what we are looking at that for that game, so onto something different for Wednesday. Colorado is at home for Minnesota in what I think could be a high scoring game. Unfortunately, Colorado has decided to split up their top line recently and makes them a difficult team to stack. Luckily, they left the top power play unit in tact so we can stack that unit. If you want to make an Av’s stack obviously Nathan MacKinnon ($8,800/$8,600) is where you have to start. Both Mikko Rantanen ($7,300/$7,700) and Andre Burakovsky ($4,200/$4,500) play with Mac on the top line but you can replace Burakovsky with Gabriel Landeskog ($6,000/$6,300) or Cale Makar ($6,300/$6,000).

Kirill Kaprizov – Victor Rask – Mats Zuccarello

On the other side of this game, the Wild helped us to cash on Monday and we are going right back to them on Wednesday. Minnesota’s second line has been fire recently and we will use them as the top value line to pair with Colorado or Toronto. This 3 man line stack costs a combined $11K on Dk and $14.1K on FD.

Somewhat under the radar the Los Angeles Kings have been on an absolute tear. Over their last five games the Kings have gone 5-0-0 with 20 goals scored and just 6 goals allowed. They are coming of a 3-0 victory over the Blues on Monday where Dustin Brown ($4,800/$6,100) picked up 2 goals. LA’s top line is where I want to start if you have the salary, which features Brown, Anze Kopitar ($6,000/$7,400) and Alex Iafallo ($4,700/$4,900). If you need to use the Kings as a value stack their second line of Jeff Carter ($4,400), Gabriel Vilardi ($3,400/$3,300), and Adrian Kempe ($4,100/$4,400). On the point both Drew Doughty ($5,700/$6,300) and Mikey Anderson ($2,800/$3,800) are in play as well.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

Top Defensemen

  1. Ivan Provorov
  2. Cale Makar
  3. Drew Doughty
  4. Morgan Rielly
  5. Adam Fox
  6. Jacob Chychrun
  7. Devon Toews
  8. Justin Faulk
  9. Rasmus Andersson
  10. Matt Dumba

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Mikey Anderson
  2. K’Andre Miller
  3. Cam Fowler
  4. Ryan Graves
  5. Jared Spurgeon
  6. Travis Sanheim
  7. Juuso Valimaki
  8. Josh Mahura
