NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/9

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/9. Our first losing night in a while with a couple of unlucky breaks. The Wild handled their business against Vegas with a 2-0 victory. But the Blues/Sharks fell 1 goal short of the over and the Kings lost in OT to the Ducks. It happens. It’s hockey. We will bounce back today.

Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -190) over the Penguins
  • Islanders Puck Line (+1.5, -265) over the Bruins
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-200) over the Predators
  • Flyers Money Line (-235) and Puck Line (-1.5, +114) over the Sabres
  • Panthers Money Line (-130) over the Blue Jackets
  • Lightning Money Line (-360) and Puck Line (-1.5, -124) over the Red Wings
  • Blackhawks Money Line (+112) and Puck Line (+1.5, -245) over the Stars

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies. There is surprisingly some value on the Devils money line tonight as Tom Wilson is suspended. I also lean Panthers tonight as the number for their money line is a little short considering the sub-par play from Columbus so far this season.

My Picks

Free Picks

Lightning -1.5 (-125): Tampa is a monster money line favorite tonight at -360, which you could actually argue there is some value on the Red Wings, but I digress. Tampa has won by 2 goals and 4 goals against the Wings this year and I have no reason to believe this trend doesn’t continue. We are getting value at the puck line number which is why we are on it tonight.

Maple Leafs ML (-177): Toronto has not lost 3 games in a row this year (currently on a 2-game losing streak). Winnipeg has looked better of late but is still wildly inconsistent. I look for Toronto to come out strong tonight and assert their dominance atop the North Division.

Premium Pick

Flyers in Regulation (-155): The Sabres are already one of the bottom feeders in the NHL and now they are without their only elite player in Jack Eichel. Not to mention the only solid goaltending they have got this season (Linus Ullmark) is out at least a month. The Flyers should take care of business tonight and we are trying to get that extra value by taking them in regulation.

NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/8

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/8. An easy 1-0 night for The Model as the Penguins took care of their business against the Rangers winning by a score of 5-1.

We have 6 games on the slate today let’s take a look at the profitability and over win percentages of the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Sharks Puck Line (+1.5, -182) over the Blues
  • Sharks/Blues Over Goals (6, -114)
  • Kings Money Line (-124) over the Ducks
  • Canadiens Puck Line (-1.5, +165) over the Canucks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies. The starting goalies are most crucial in the Canucks/Canadiens game as there would be advantage for MTL if we get Allen/Holtby, and a strong advantage for VAN if we get Price/Demko.

My Picks

Free Picks

Sharks Blues Over 6 Goals (-114): We have a dream goalie matchup for this over in Dubnyk/Husso. Both of these teams are top 4 in total goals/game this season and love getting it at this 6 number.

Wild ML +100: Minnesota played two good games against Vegas last week but lost both. The Golden Knights are expected to be without top player Mark Stone and that gives me enough reason to believe Minnesota can come out tonight and get a win.

Premium Pick

Kings ML -124: Los Angeles has had a pretty good streak of games the last couple of weeks before regressing a little bit last week. We have Petersen in goal who has surprisingly been posting better numbers than the netminder confirmed for the Ducks (John Gibson). The Ducks struggle in all areas of play and I think getting the Kings at this number provides good value.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Monday night March 8th! Tonight we have a 6 game slate that has a weird start time, 8 pm on the east coast, so you have some extra time to get those lineups in!!

When you first look at this slate one really obvious thing slaps you right in face, Edmonton gets Ottawa on the second night of a back to back. Connor McDavid ($9,200/$8,700) is going to be the most popular play I believe and that is how it should be. McDavid should feast on a potentially tired Senators team that will most likely have their backup netminder in there. If you are playing cash games McDavid should be the first player you pick and build around him.

Other than the Oilers, I will want to get exposure to a few others games on this slate. San Jose hosts the Blues on Monday night and that will be where I want to look first to build around any Oilers stacks. If Nathan MacKinnon ($8,900/$8,300) is out again, then I think I will have some love for Arizona. Another interesting game is Vegas in Minnesota which is carrying a 5.5 over/under which seems low to me.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

If you’ve read my articles this season or have been in discord you know I don’t like paying up for goalie so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that my two favorite goalies for Monday are Cal Petersen ($7,500/$7,100) on the road in Anaheim and then Darcy Kuemper ($7,100/$7,400) on the road in Colorado. Now, if we get word that MacKinnon is in, then I will come off Kuemper. If either of these goalies doesn’t start I am fine with switching to their backups. I am picking these two because of their matchup and ownership more than them personally.

If you don’t want to pay down in net, which I can definitely understand, I would look at Kuemper’s opponent on Monday, Philip Grubauer ($8,300/$8,300). Grubauer has won three of his last four starts and allowed just 4 goals in the three wins (five goals allowed in the one loss). If there is a downside to using Grubauer, it’s the fact that Colorado does not allow a ton of shots on goal and Arizona doesn’t shoot a lot (well below the league average).

Other Options: Marc-Andre Fluery ($8,100), Smith/Koskinen ($8,400/$7,800), Jordan Binnington ($8,200/$7,500) – As usual Binnington is a better FD play because of price.

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

With a smaller slate like this ownership will be more condensed and we will need to find spots that may be ignored by the majority of players. Now, I don’t know that San Jose/St. Louis will be ignored, but I do believe they will be overlooked for the higher priced Oilers, Golden Knights, and potentially the Montreal Canadiens as well.

St. Louis @ San Jose

Vladimir Tarasenko ($4,200/$6,900) returned from injury on Saturday night and while he didn’t pick up any points he did manage 4 shots on goal. Tarasenko was minimum price on DK, but FD players weren’t as lucky. DraftKings did raise his price some, but he still a great play at $4.2K on Monday. As for FanDuel, he is priced high so he might be very low-owned on that site, which makes him a good play there as well. Tarasenko is playing on the Blues top line with Ryan O’Reilly ($6,100/$6,900) and Jordan Kyrou ($4,700/$4,500). I do like the line stack here, but I think I may prefer to pair him with one of either Brayden Schenn ($6,000/$6,400) or David Perron ($7,000/$7,100) with Torey Krug ($5,600/$5,300) for a power-play stack. San Jose’s penalty kill is in the bottom half of the league and the allow the 10th most power-play opportunities.

San Jose’s penalty kill isn’t the only bad one in this game, St Louis does not have a good penalty kill as well. The Blues allow the second-most penalties in the league and are ranked 25th in the league in penalty kill %. If you have the salary, the Sharks top unit is the way to go, but with a penalty kill as poor as the Blues, I like using the value on the second unit to get exposure to the Sharks but have the salary to pay up for the likes of McDavid and Rantanen.

I know when you look at the numbers they haven’t been producing as you’d want, but I think for their prices you don’t need much from them. My favorite play on that power-play unit is Rudolfs Balcers ($2,800/$3,300). Balcers has a goal and an assist in three games against St. Louis this season already as well as five shots on goal and 4 blocked shots. Mario Ferraro ($3,300/$3,700) plays the point on that second PP unit and has good numbers against the Blues as well this season. In five games Ferraro has 8 blocked shots, 5 shots on goal, and 2 assists. If Timo Meier sits again, John Leonard ($2,500/$3,500) should remain on line 2 in his spot.

Obviously the big teams to pay up for are teams like Edmonton, Colorado, Vegas, and Montreal, but I think people will sleep on this game and we could get some good plays at low ownership on Monday night

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

Top Defensemen

  1. Jeff Petry (MTL)
  2. Jakob Chychrun (ARI) – INSANELY cheap on FD
  3. Shea Theodore (VGK)
  4. Thomas Chabot (OTT)
  5. Darnell Nurse (EDM)
  6. Brent Burns (SJ)
  7. Tory Krug (STL)
  8. Drew Doughty (LA)
  9. Samuel Girard (COL)
  10. Jonas Bordin/Matt Dumba (MIN)

Alec Martinez is great play, but is just stupid cheap on FanDuel. He is still a good DK play, but is just insanely cheap ($3,800) on FD. Pietrangelo should be out for Vegas on Monday which only makes Martinez an even better play.

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Nicolas Hague (VGK)
  2. Erik Brannstrom (OTT)
  3. Cam Fowler (ANH)
  4. Matt Roy (LA)
  5. Radim Simek (SJ)
  6. Tyler Myers (VAN)
  7. Mikey Anderson (LA)
  8. Jacob MacDonald (COL)

NHL Betting Picks Sunday 3/7

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Sunday 3/7. It is Hockey Day in America and we have 8 games on the slate for today. Another profitable night for The Model going 2-1, including our Premium Pick winner with the Flyers/Penguins hitting another over.

Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentage for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies.

My Picks

Penguins ML (-150): The only pick for the day. At this point the Rangers goalie is not announced but if it ends up being Keith Kinkaid then this is an incredible number. Both teams coming off of a win yesterday, I trust the Penguins significantly more to get their second straight victory here.

We’re back with another Saturday Night Win Daily NHL Article! We have a loaded slate today and boosted contests due to the NBA All-Star Break! So, get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 3/6 NHL slate, we have a nice 8-game slate that begins at 7 pm ET! Let’s get into it!

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. DraftKings has stayed the same but don’t forget last season they revamped the scoring and added stats bonuses, so if you’re new to NHL or haven’t played in a while, check out our live stream on the WinDaily YouTube by clicking here and read through the rules on the site of your choice!

3/6 NHL Stack Report

  1. Vegas Golden Knights 1
    Stone – Stephenson – Pacioretty (FanDuel: $19,800 | DraftKings: $18,200)
This line has been on absolute fire and is coming off an extremely strong showing against a Sharks side with some glaring defensive issues, good news is they’ll be going up against the Sharks again tonight and while they will have their starting goalie between the pipes the Sharks will not. This line has been very consistent as of late and has the ability to break the slate. Vegas also has the highest implied goals total on the slate at 3.6 goals
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Shea Theodore (FD: $5,900 | DK: $5,900)
  2. Colorado Avalance 1
    Rantanen – Kadri – Landeskog (FanDuel: $21,200 | DraftKings: $19,900)
    – We’re getting a bit of a discount on this line if MacKinnon stays out and against Ryan Miller we have to take full advantage, not to mention that all three of these players have had extremely strong performances over their past few games. Colorado also has a significant implied goal total of 3.4 goals.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Sam Girard (FD: $5,300 | DK: $4,900)

Honorable Mention(s): Toronto Maple Leafs 1, Edmonton Oilers 1, Minnesota Wild 2, St. Louis Blues 1

3/6 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to roster)

  1. Marc-Andre Fleury (FD: $8,300 | DK: $8,400)
  2. Cam Talbot (FD: $7,300 | DK: $8,000)

Honorable Mention(s): Hunter Miska, Jordan Binnington

Worst (Goalies you want to go against)

  1. Ryan Miller (FD: $6,700 | DK: $7,400)
Honorable Mention(s): Devan Dubnyk, Braeden Holtby

3/6 NHL Wild Card Targets

Zach Hyman (FD: $4,800 | DK: $5,000)
Despite not producing last game Zach Hyman has been on an absolute tear along with the rest of Toronto’s third line. Tonight, they will be going up against a much worse goalie in Holtby and at their price, they’re well worth it. I would reserve them for GPP entries but among the wealth of solid plays on tonight’s slate I would recommend going for TOR3 guys like Hyman as a low-owned producer. Hyman in particular also sees top-line minutes and has been shifted to the top line partway through games to play with the likes of Marner and Matthews. Oh and Hyman sees both Penalty Kill and Power Play time.

Honorable Mention(s): Alex Tuch, Kevin Labanc, Zach Sanford, Alec Martinez

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Nazem Kadri

Winger Max Pacioretty

Defence Jonas Brodin

Goalie Cam Talbot

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 3/6

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 3/6. Another undefeated night for The Model as the Bruins and the Wild handedly won their contests against the Capitals and Coyotes respectively. I also took the Blues the night before because I saw good value only for Husso to be named starter at noon on Friday and ruin all the value I had. Down 2-1 with a minute left they tied it then won it in OT. I am too hot for my own good right now.

We have a monster 12 game slate today let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +210) over the Devils
  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +123), Money Line (-210) and Under (5, +118) over the Sabres
  • Flyers Puck Line (+1.5, -265) and Over (6, -117) over the Penguins
  • Panthers Money Line (-141) over the Predators
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +188) over the Coyotes
  • Jets Money Line (+120) over the Canadiens
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-200) over the Canucks
  • Avalanche Money Line (-245) over the Ducks
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -265) over the Blues
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-210) over the Sharks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies. We have 4 back-to-backs today so expect different goalie usage today compared to yesterday, especially with this condensed schedule. If I wasn’t a Devils fan I would most likely take the Rangers today as the Devils are in a full free fall, so take that for what it’s worth.

My Picks

Free Picks

Maple Leafs in Regulation (-124): Toronto is arguably the best team in the NHL coming off a loss Thursday to Vancouver. Look for them to bounce back tonight. Toronto should have the goaltending edge if Holtby goes for Vancouver. Look for Matthews to get back on the board tonight and carry his team to victory. There isn’t much value on the money line, which is why I took the regulation pick.

Oilers Money Line (-132): The Oilers are coming off an embarrassing 3 game skid to the Maple Leafs not earning a single point. Calgary just fired their coach on Thursday, with their new coach not being able to join the team until next week. Look for Edmonton to come out strong in what I expect to be an excellent Battle of Alberta. McDavid can only be quiet for so long before he erupts, and I expect that to happen tonight.

Premium Pick

Flyers/Penguins Over 6 Goals (-110): These 2 teams love scoring against each other with the over hitting in all 4 matchups they have played this season. I love getting this at 6 and am hoping for a 5th straight hit.

NHL Betting Picks Friday 3/5

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 3/5. A clean sweep of the board for Keith and The Model last night, going 3-0 in article plays and 2-0 in additional Twitter plays.

The Flyers were the most shocking of the 3 wins in the article. First, Crosby is announced to play after I already took the pick so I hated it. Then they go down 3-0 in the first period, only to score 4 unanswered and win the game 4-3. The Under 7 in the Maple Leafs/Canucks was always in control as the Leafs looked tired only scoring 1 goal.

We have 6 games today let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Puck Line (+1.5, -235) over the Bruins
  • Lightning/Blackhawks Under 6 Goals (-104)
  • Avalanche Money Line (-265) over the Ducks
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -230) over the Blues
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +188) over the Coyotes
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-205) over the Sharks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies. I originally had the Blues at -127 on my card until Husso got confirmed for tonight instead of Binnington, now it is a no play.

My Picks

Free Pick:

Bruins ML -135: The Bruins lost in a shootout to the Caps on Wednesday. Washington has been playing better as of late, but Boston is too good to lose back-to-back games. They know this is a battle for first in the division and Boston should be ready to play tonight. Vanacek for the Caps and Halak for the Bruins so no goaltending edge either way. Coyle is out for the Bruins but the Perfection Line (Pasta, Marchand, and Bergeron) is too strong to be shut down 2 games in a row.

Premium Pick:

Wild -1.5 +188: Arizona for whatever reason is really bad at home this year posting -4 units on the ML and -5 units on the PL. Minnesota played Vegas really strong in their 2 recent games, but only earned 1 point total. I think they come out strong to get 2 points tonight and make a statement against Arizona.

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 3/4

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 3/4. Another 2-1 profitable night for Keith and The Model. The Avalanche with a huge bounce back game in a 4-0 win over the Sharks, getting that value if you took regulation or puck line. The Wild who I said had value as it was a 50/50 game, actually edged Vegas in most advanced stats despite losing 5-1.

And for the Premium Pick, the under in the Blues/Ducks was always in control even though it finished 3-2. Binnington looked very solid in net and the Ducks struggled mightily to get good chances. The Premium Pick is 3-1 overall.

We have 10 games on the slate today let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Flyers Puck Line (-1.5, +205) over the Penguins
  • Penguins/Flyers Over (6.5, +102)
  • Jets Money Line (+124) over the Canadiens
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-315) over the Red Wings
  • Islanders Money Line (-195) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +140) over the Sabres
  • Panthers Money Line (-136) over the Predators
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-159) over the Canucks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. Some notes on the season so far:

Toronto is an absolute juggernaut this year and just beat Edmonton in their 3 game series by a combined score of 13-1. Tampa is also playing extremely well in their Stanley Cup defense and are missing arguably their best player (Kucherov – out for season). Florida and Chicago have been pleasant surprises this year. It will be interesting to see which teams make it out of the Central as Nashville and Columbus have underwhelmed but have the talent to make a run.

My Picks

Free Picks:

Panthers ML (-136): My Model is very low on the Predators this year and even with Bobrovsky starting for the Panthers it likes this number. The Panthers have also been pretty successful on the road from a betting perspective up 3.36 units. The Panthers are the better team and should take care of business.

Leafs/Canucks Under 7 Goals (-130): No one likes taking unders but when you see the line set at 7 you really have to assess whether that is reasonable or not. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Leafs continue their dominance against a below average defense in the Canucks and carry this over. But I think there will be a slight regression tonight and at that 7 number this under was too good to pass up.

Premium Pick:

Flyers ML (-122): This is a great bounce back spot for the Flyers coming off a 5-2 loss to the Penguins on Tuesday. This will be Pittsburgh’s second straight game without Crosby and I think the Flyers will be ready for this second game against the Pens. Finally healthy and everyone has at least one game under their belt since being removed from the COVID list, look for the Flyers to come out strong and get a win tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/3

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/3. Another 2-1 night, with the biggest surprise coming in that Sabres/Rangers Under. Four goals in the first period made me think that was a lost cause, only to have one more goal scored the rest of the game and hit the under. The Penguins pumped the Flyers, it happens. And then the Jets did exactly what I thought and took care of business with another poor night from Braden Holtby.

We have 6 games on the slate today, lets take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Puck Line (+1.5, -225) over the Bruins
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-112) over the Oilers
  • Ducks Puck Line (+1.5, -220) over the Blues
  • Blues Money Line (-150) over the Ducks
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -275) over the Coyotes

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies today. The Leafs get back beauty Auston Matthews and goaltender Frederik Andersen, although they haven’t needed them lately beating the Oilers by a combined score of 7-0 in their past two games.

My Picks

Free Picks

Wild ML +129: These two teams played on Monday with Vegas scoring three unanswered goals to win in OT. Vegas has not looked great as of late and think the books are slightly overvaluing them. The Model shows this at about a 50/50 game which means we are getting decent value on Minnesota.

Avalanche in Regulation -130: The Avalanche are the significantly better team and they just got pumped by the Sharks 6-2 on Monday. This is a clear bounce back game for the Avs, even with a couple injuries on defense, and I like them to take care of business in regulation as there is no value on the money line.

Premium Picks

Blues/Ducks Under 5.5 Goals -114: This game went over on Monday (5-4, 9 total goals) and we played it mostly due to St. Louis’ backup goalie Ville Husso who didn’t let us down allowing 4 goals. Tonight St. Louis is going back with Jordan Binnington. Anaheim hits less than 40% of their overs and average only 4.88 total goals per game (goals for plus goals against). They specifically struggle on offense only scoring 2.01 goals/game. This looks like a good bounce back spot for the under.

We’re back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Not a lot of games but given the games going tonight we can expect a lot of goals tonight! So, get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 3/3 NHL slate, we have a nice 6-game slate that begins at 7 pm ET!

3/3 NHL Stack Report

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs 1
    Marner – Matthews – Thornton (FanDuel: $21,500 | DraftKings: $20,000)
This is a scary team, there is no other way to say it and now that the top line is back together, it’ll make them even more dangerous. It’s hard to imagine that we’ll see anything but the best version of Connor McDavid tonight, so consider locking him in as well but as far as high-end lines go Toronto’s top line has impressed beyond belief thus far.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Morgan Rielly (FD: $5,400 | DK: $5,300)
  2. San Jose Sharks 1
    Kane – Couture – Labanc (FanDuel: $19,300 | DraftKings: $15,700)
    – This line has been really clicking at a consistent pace as of late and for a team’s top-performing line, they come at a huge bargain (especially on DraftKings). Last game alone this line was involved in three goals in San Jose’s 6-2 win over Colorado (aka the team they will face off against tonight)
Ideal Defensive Partner: Brent Burns (Mario Ferraro as a SalarySaver) (FD: $6,500 | DK: $6,500)

Honorable Mention(s): Vegas Golden Knights 1, Edmonton Oilers PP1, Washington Capitals 2, Boston Bruins 1 (add Ritchie for a SalarySaver)

3/3 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Jordan Binnington (FD: $7,500 | DK: $8,100)
  2. Cam Talbot (FD: $7,700 | DK: $7,100)

Honorable Mention(s): Martin Jones (too cheap), Marc Andre Fleury, Phillip Grubauer

Worst

  1. Jonathan Quick (FD: $7,300 | DK: $7,400)
    Honorable Mention(s): John Gibson

3/3 NHL Wild Card Targets

Jonas Brodin (FD: $3,800 | DK: $4,500)
– No matter how he plays his price doesn’t seem to rise, which works for me (at least on FanDuel, still playable on DraftKings). With three points in his last three, Brodin is capable of racking up shots and blocks while also appearing on the score sheet. A multi-point threat at this price, can’t be ignored.
Stack with Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello

Honorable Mention(s): Gabe Vilardi, Nick Ritchie, Jakub Vrana

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Auston Matthews

Winger Evander Kane

Defence Jonas Brodin

Goalie Jordan Binnington
