NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 4/7

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 4/7. The Model had a very solid 2-1 night. The Rangers pummeled the Penguins 8-4 and the Preds took care of the Wings in a shootout. The Sharks got dominated by the Ducks and didnt cover our -1. All in all good night. On to Wednesday.

We have 5 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-155) over the Canadiens
  • Leafs/Canadiens Under 6 (-113)
  • Oilers Money Line (-190) over the Senators
  • Oilers/Senators Under 6 (-102)
  • Wild Puck Line (+1.5, -155) over the Avalanche
  • Golden Knights Puck Line (-1.5, +170) and Money Line (-148) over the Blues
  • Coyotes Money Line (+100) over the Kings

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. The Kings have such a monster swing in The Model depending on if Quick or Petersen starts for LA. Quick is probably more likely to play but the line right now projects Petersen. If you’re feeling risky feel free to take Yotes now but I’m going to wait for confirmation.

My Picks

Leafs ML (-155): I am mad at myself for waiting to take this play, the line when I checked last night was -143. At this price there isn’t much edge but the Leafs are rolling and I don’t see how they lose tonight. Campbell should be in net who is 9-0-0 this season and the Canadiens have not looked great lately. The Leafs have also won 3 of 4 meetings against Montreal this season and we are riding them tonight.

Oilers/Senators Under 6 (+102): Absolutely gross, an under. On a team with McDavid and Draisaitl? Am I crazy? Probably. But the numbers suggest this has a decent chance to hit and we’re getting it at plus money. The Senators and Oilers average 6.25 and 6.11 total goals, respectively, which would suggest an over. However, these teams have played 7 times and over 6 goals would have gone 3-3-1. Even better the Sens hit their over at 31% at home and the Oilers hit their over 39% on the road. The Sens also play significantly better defense at home and we are riding this under tonight.

We’re back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Tonight we have a small 4-game slate ahead of us. With that in mind, there are clear top plays to cover tonight as well as some sneaky under-owned plays, so let’s get right into it. Get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 4/7 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:30 pm ET, so don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments, and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. DraftKings has stayed the same but don’t forget last season they revamped the scoring and added stats bonuses, so if you’re new to NHL or haven’t played in a while, check out our live stream on the WinDaily YouTube by clicking here and read through the rules on the site of your choice!

4/7 NHL Stack Report

  1. Colorado Avalanche 1
    Rantanen – MacKinnon – Landeskog (FanDuel: $24,500 | DraftKings: $23,300)
This line will be pure chalk. Colorado’s top line is one of the hottest in hockey right now, and they are coming off a nine-goal barn-burner against tonight’s opponents, the Minnesota Wild. This line took part in two of the five goals and has been one of the most consistent lines this year. If you want to stack this line with the other top-line, some compromises will have to be made due to salary, and although you won’t be able to fit the full line, it is definitely doable. Statistically, this team and this line are just insane. This team has the highest implied total on the slate, and this line has the highest implied goals total for a line in the entire league, and they each lead their team in scoring, with two of the line members appearing on the top ten in league scoring while the other is in the top 20. They’re also currently riding a five-game win streak and have collected points in their last 15 games, where they have been outscoring their opposition 67-28. Not to mention the Aves lead the league in goals per game and shots on goal per game! This team is just a different beast.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Cale Makar (FD: $5,600 | DK: $5,700)
  2. Toronto Maple Leafs 1
    Hyman – Matthews – Marner (FanDuel: $21,400 | DraftKings: $22,100)
    – I know today’s article may come off as a bit of a chalk report, but I think this is chalk you’ll have to eat tonight. Both lines are in excellent spots tonight and have performed well enough to justify their inclusion in the top two line spots. Toronto, along with Colorado, are the teams with the two highest implied totals, and in fact, when factoring in expected goals/ 60 minutes, Toronto’s top line actually outperforms Colorado’s! These guys are really, really good, and you’re getting a stellar discount with Zach Hyman, who is more than capable of breaking a slate on his own, as we have seen already this season (4 goals and 6 assists over his last 10 games!). To his credit, Montreal’s goalie Jake Allen has played well this season (hasn’t faced Toronto yet), but all the momentum is on Toronto, who are coming off their fourth straight win and rank second in the NHL in points per game at 9.3 points per game.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Morgan Rielly (FD: $5,100 | DK: $4,900)

    Honorable Mention(s): ARI1, TOR2, MTL1

4/7 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Adin Hill (FD: $6,700 | DK: $7,700)
  2. Philipp Grubauer (FD: $8,700 | DK: $8,400)

    Honorable Mention(s): Fleury

Worst

  1. Cam Talbot (FD: $8,300 | DK: $7,300)
    Honorable Mention(s): Allen, Peterson, Binnington

4/7 NHL Wild Card Targets

Alec Martinez (FD: $4,400 | DK: $5,500)
– I’m not quite sure how these sites are justifying Martinez’s disrespectful price tag. DraftKings is at least closer to what it should be but Alec Martinez has been consistently outperforming his fellow Golden Knights defensemen who are nothing to scoff at themselves. Bottom line is Martinez has put up plenty of peripheral stats (shots and blocked shots) to where he has been able to hit DraftKings bonuses with ease but he has also been able to get on the scoresheet with regularity, scoring two last game against the same team that they’ll be facing tonight. FanDuel needs to re-evaluate their price here, it’s just way off and I will continue to target him if they keep it as is. As far as Wild Cards go this pick will be on the safer end of Wild Card picks that I make.

Honorable Mention(s): Bunting, Anderson, Tavares, Staal, Kaprizov

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Nathan MacKinnon

Winger Zach Hyman

Defence Alec Martinez

Goalie Adin Hill

NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 4/6

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 4/6. The Model had an undefeated night going 2-0. The Golden Knights took a dump on St. Louis and easily won 6-1. The Jets/Senators also covered their over thanks to a Sens goal with 3 minutes left losing 4-3 but getting over 6 which is all we care about. Let’s keep the hot streak rolling through to today.

We have 9 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +190) over the Capitals
  • Flyers Puck Line (+1.5, -240) over the Bruins
  • Penguins Money Line (+107) over the Rangers
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +200) over the Penguins
  • Lightning Puck Line (-1.5, +130) and Money Line (-200) over the Blue Jackets
  • Devils Puck Line (-1.5, +150) and Money Line (-175) over the Sabres
  • Blackhawks Money Line (+102) over the Stars
  • Sharks Money Line (-175) over the Ducks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. I really wanted to take the Bruins tonight coming off an OTL last night to Philly, but they are going with Jeremy Swayman in goal. If your first reaction is “Who the hell is that?” then you are exactly where my head is at and understand why we cannot take them tonight.

My Picks

Free Picks

Predators ML (-150): The Predators have been much improved of late, going 8-2-0 in their last 10. The Red Wings are coming off their biggest win of the season in a 5-1 beatdown of Tampa on Sunday. My thought here is Detroit will have a let down after their “Super Bowl” win on Sunday and with Nashville’s improved play should handle their business tonight.

Rangers ML (-115): The Rangers are another team who has been hot lately. The Penguins are banged up with some big injuries to their offense (Malkin, Kapanen, Blueger, and Tanev). The Model really likes the Rangers in this spot for some reason pricing them at -138, which gives us a great edge on that -115 line. This is one of those ignore the names of the teams just play the numbers, and that is what we are doing with the Rangers.

Premium Pick

Sharks -1 (-117): San Jose has the biggest edge on the board with their ML hovering around -175 and The Model pricing it around -215. I like this -1 number with the Sharks covering that in their last 2 wins against Anaheim. The Ducks recently returned Trevor Zegras to the AHL who has basically their only bright spot this year. I like San Jose to take care of business and cover the -1 tonight.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for a Tuesday night! We have a huge 9 game slate tonight that is frontloaded with the top teams playing early, but could there be a sneaky late-night hammer? Let’s find out!

With only two of the nine games tonight carrying an over/under of 6 this has the makings of a low-scoring slate. Pittsburgh is at the Rangers tonight in their first game since getting trounced by Boston. Carolina host Florida in the other game with the 6 goal o/u. Both of these games are on my radar tonight, as well as a few others. Let’s dig in and see if we can’t find some green tonight!

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Cash Game Goalie:

Juuse Saros ($8,100/$7,600) vs Detroit

Saros and the Preds are in MoTown to take on the Red Wings tonight who just put up 5 goals on Sunday against Tampa. I can’t give Detroit all the credit for those goals, most of them were a result of bad goaltending or lucky bounces. Saros is a thousand times better goaltender then Christopher Gibson and should handle himself well tonight against the Wings. In his last 5 starts, Saros has averaged 30 saves per game and allowed just 1.4 goals per game. In two starts against Detroit this season (3 games played), Saros has stopped 56 of 58 shots and allowed just 2 goals for a sv% of .966.

Other Cash Options: Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8,500/$8,600), Mackenzie Blackwood ($8,000/$6,800) – Are you serious FD with this pricing?, Martin Jones ($7,900/$7,800)

GPP Goalie:

Linus Ullmark ($7,200/$6,700) vs New Jersey

Ullmark and the Sabres get very little respect and love from the DFS community, and rightfully so. But when there is a matchup that just screams out to us to play them, we must! Ullmark has actually been pretty solid in net for the Sabres of late with back-to-back wins while stopping 59 of 62 shots in those contests. Believe it or not, Ullmark is actually undefeated in 4 starts against New Jersey this season. Ullmark is 4-0 with a .949 save% against the Devils this season, stopping 112 of 118 shots faced. With nine games on the slate, and 18 goalies to pick from I think Ullmark could be criminally under-owned and help someone get a takedown tonight.

Other GPP Options: Ilya Sorokin ($7,800/$8,100), Chris Driedger ($7,400/$8,300), Dan Vladar ($7,700/$8,000), Casey DeSmith ($7,700/$8,00)

NHL DFS: Line Stacks

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Rangers

Like I mentioned in the open this game is one of the two with the highest projected goal total on the slate so we will want to try and get exposure to it. I really like what the Penguins’ top line has done versus the Rangers this season. Pittsburgh’s top-line trio of Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and Bryan Rust have combined for 8 goals and 4 assists in 6 games. Both of the wingers have amassed incredible shot totals against NY as well this season. Guentzel has 23 SOG in 6 games, while Rusty has hit the net 28 times in 6 games. I love seeing these totals because that means we don’t need to solely rely on them scoring multiple points to make value. Kris Letang ($6,100/$5,800) is the top point man on the power-play for Pitt, but we can also use Mike Matheson ($3,400/$3,600). Matheson has points in three straight games but is only a GPP play because he is point-dependent to make value.

As for the NY side of things, both of their top lines are in play as well. All three lines I have mentioned are expensive on both sites and should be considered your top stack on the night. Colin Blackwell ($2,600/$3,500) is back on line 2 with Strome and Panarin and is a nice inexpensive piece to help keep your stack down or paired up with Pavel Buchnevich ($6,000/$5,600) for a PP2 mini-stack. Another interesting player to keep in mind is superstar prospect Vitali Kravtsov for the Rangers. He is min price on both sites and saw over 10 minutes of ice time in his NHL debut Saturday. Adam Fox ($6,800/$5,900) is the only defenseman I would recommend from the Rangers, but I prefer him on FD to DK.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose’s top line is one of my favorite stacks and they are that late-night hammer I mentioned in the open. If you don’t want to pay up for either of the Rangers or Penguins’ top lines, then San Jose is where I would go for GPP stacks. Anaheim is terrible in their own zone and has allowed teams to just pepper their netminders, especially in high danger zones. They are allowing 4 goals a game in their last 3, and are 29th in the league in goals allowed on the season. San Jose put up 9 goals in early March in their last two games against Anaheim with the top line of Evander Kane, Logan Couture, and Kevin LaBanc doing the bulk of the damage. San Jose’s second and third lines are also decent value, especially Ryan Donato ($3,400/$3,300) who plays on the second power-play unit. Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns, and Mario Ferraro are the three d-men you can use with these lines as well.

Florida Panthers

We all know about Florida’s top two lines as being great line stacks and are two of the top cash lines for tonight’s slate. If you need value and want exposure to the Panthers tonight, I would look at the third line tonight. Both the top lines are in play of course for tournaments of course, but to be different and gain an ownership advantage I would look at the third line of Noel Acciari, Frank Vatrano, and Owen Tippett. Vatrano is on a 3 game goal-scoring streak and has amassed 16 shots in those three games. All three are on the Panthers’ 2nd power-play unit as well. This line projects at a high floor for their price as well, meaning they are safe for cash game value as well.

Cash game Line stacks:

I already mentioned a bunch of good cash game stacks in Pittsburgh, New York, and Florida, but there are some other teams that can anchor your lineups tonight in cash games. I really like both of the top lines from Washington and Chicago tonight as higher-owned cash game lines. Carolina 1 is always a good play, but I prefer Carolina 2 tonight. They have the safer floor and Vincent Trocheck against his former team is a great narrative play as well. Philadelphia 2 and Boston 1 both performed well last night and I have no problem going back there tonight.

As for some other value plays, one of my favorite lines is Chicago 3. They are cheap and give you exposure to both PP units. Boston 3 and NY Islanders 3 are two other 3rd lines I really like tonight as well. Nashville 2 has to be in consideration against Detroit tonight also.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

** Remember to always try and pair your defenseman up with forwards. One-off dmen are not usually the best option**

NHL Betting Picks Monday 4/5

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 4/5. The Model went 1-1-1 yesterday. The over in the Wings/Lightning game hit but surprisingly it was the Red Wings who carried that with a 5-1 win over the Lightning. The Devils hung around but ultimately lost 5-4, and then the Canes pushed with a 1-0 victory over the Stars. On to Monday.

We have 7 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Flyers Puck Line (+1.5, -175) over the Bruins
  • Oilers Money Line (+117) over the Canadiens
  • Canadiens Puck Line (-1.5, +185) over the Oilers
  • Jets Money Line (-200) and Puck Line (-1.5, +120) over the Senators
  • Wild Puck Line (+1.5, -177) over the Avalanche
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-140) and Puck Line (-1.5, +180) over the Blues
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-157) over the Flames

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Golden Knights ML (-140): Vegas is coming off back-to-back losses against the Wild. Combined with their loss to LA last Wednesday and you’ve got a 3 game losing streak. However St. Louis is on a 6-game skid earning a single point out of 12 in that stretch. Both teams are going to come out strong tonight and should have the makings of a playoff atmosphere. Vegas is the better team though and with Husso likely in net for the Blues, we should feel comfortable riding them at this price.

Senators/Jets Over 6 (-110): These 2 teams enjoy scoring goals and don’t care too much for stopping them. They’ve hit at least 6 goals in 3 of 5 matchups this season. Ottawa averages 3.66 goals against/game and the Jets average 3.16 goals for/game. Ottawa is better on the road at hitting overs (53%) than overall (42%). Winnipeg allows the most High Danger Chances Against in the league, let’s hope Ottawa is able to convert a few tonight.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for a Monday night! We have a 7 game slate tonight that looks like it could be a lot of fun with a variety of ways to build.

Tonight is another seven-game slate, which seems to be a very common thing in the NHL this season. Three of tonight’s seven games are from the high-scoring North (Canadian) Division and those three games are spots I want to try and focus on for my lineups. Boston, who just dropped 7 on Pittsburgh in their last game, is taking on a Philadelphia team that has been dreadful defensively of late as well.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Cash Game Goalie:

Robin Lehner ($8,000/$8,200) vs St. Louis

Since his return from a concussion on March 19th, Lehner has been a virtual brick wall stopping 107 of 113 shots he’s faced. Lehner gets a matchup with the Blues tonight who are an abysmal 2-7-4 since March 6th and are averaging just 1.9 goals per game during this stretch. Lehner’s price isn’t overly high on either site and he just make sense as a safe cash play.

Other Cash Options: Philipp Grubauer ($8,100/$8,600) vs Minnesota, Connor Hellebuyck ($8,500/$7,500) vs Ottawa — How do you not play him on FD?

GPP Goalie:

Cam Talbot ($7,200/$8,400) vs Colorado

Talbot is more of a DK play at this price, but either way the man has been on fire since he has returned from injury as well. In his last five starts, Talbot has averaged 32.6 saves per game and allowed just 1.6 goals per game. I know Colorado is the top scoring team in the league, but a hot goalie can shut a hot offense down on any night. Over their last 10 games Colorado has averaged 38.6 shots on goal per game, which is one of the reasons why I like Talbot tonight. Colorado will shoot the puck and Talbot will have plenty of save opportunities. In their last two matchups Colorado took 55 and 42 shots on goal respectively.

Other GPP Options: Jack Campbell ($7,900/$8,100) vs Calgary, Mike Smith ($7,400) vs Montreal, Filip Gustavsson ($7,000/$6,600) vs Winnipeg

NHL DFS: Line Stacks

Boston Bruins

As I mentioned in the open Boston takes on the Flyers tonight who have been terrible in their own zone of late. Boston has (at the time of writing) switched up their lines by moving David Pastrnak ($8,900/$8,300) off the top line and onto line 2. I prefer line 2 from Boston tonight as a stacking option with David Krejci ($4,200/$5,200) and Nick Ritchie ($4,200/$4,400). Pasta is still on the top power play unit with Ritchie so using them with Matt Grzelcyk ($4,80/$4,300) is also a great way to go.

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg is at home to Ottawa tonight and should be one of the better options in fantasy tonight. Ottawa is one of the worst teams defensively this season and has been even worse of late. They have had some really good goaltending which makes them see better than they have been though. In their last 5 games, Ottawa has only allowed 12 goals, but they have allowed at least 53 shot attempts in all 5 games, and even allowed as many as 66 to the Leafs a few games back. My preferred line tonight would be their top line Kyle Connor-Mark Scheifele-Nikolaj Ehlers ($20.5K/$20K). Ottawa has been good on the penalty kill, allowing just 1 power-play goal in their last 8 games, so I wouldn’t try and get weird with different power-play stacks here.

Minnesota Wild

Both sides of this game have upside, as do both goalies, but if you are playing GPP’s and Talbot why not run a Wild stack with him. Minnesota’s top line is inexpensive industry-wide and is one of the highest projected scoring lines in my opinion tonight. Kirill Kaprizov ($6,100/$6,000) is the highest-priced player on this line tonight and to me seems like a bargain at his salary. He is playing alongside Jordan Greenway ($3,100/$3,700) who has 3 assists in his last four games, including setting up Joel Eriksson Ek ($4,100/$3,800) for the game-winner on Saturday night. Eriksson himself has 3 points in his last 4 games also. Colorado has allowed 3 power-play goals in their last 5 games and has averaged 4 penalties per game. Because of this I also like pairing Karpizov with Jared Spurgeon ($4,100/$4,400) for a two-man PP stack.

Cash game Line stacks:

Both Toronto and Edmonton’s top lines are the best options for cash game builds. Of course, they are expensive but have the safest floors on the slate. After those two lines, Colorado’s first line, and then Vegas would be the next best options. All of these lines are good plays in any type of contest, but they will most likely carry the highest ownership.

As for some value to pair with those expensive lines for cash (or GPP really), you can look at both Calgary 3 and Philadelphia 2. Both lines are cheap and carry a relatively safe floor. Montreal 1 and Montreal 3 are two other lower-priced options that have pretty safe floors as well. Similar to Montreal, Los Angeles’ first and third lines are good value tonight taking on a Coyotes team who is on the second night of a back-to-back.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

** Remember to always try and pair your defenseman up with forwards. One-off dmen are not usually the best option**

Top Defensemen

  1. Jakob Chychrun (ARI)
  2. Alex Pietrangelo (VGK)
  3. Darnell Nurse (EDM)
  4. Ivan Provorov (PHI)
  5. Shea Theodore (VGK)
  6. Shea Weber (MTL)
  7. Cale Makar (COL)
  8. Drew Doughty (LA)
  9. Morgan Rielly (TOR)
  10. Matt Grzelcyk (BOS)

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Noah Hanifin (CGY)
  2. Sean Walker (LA)
  3. Joel Edmundson (MTL)
  4. Michael Stone (CGY)
  5. Alex Goligoski (ARI)
  6. Brayden McNabb (VGK)
  7. TJ Brodie (TOR)
  8. Vince Dunn (STL)
  9. Ilya Lyubushkin (ARI)
  10. Austin Strand (LA)

NHL Betting Picks Sunday 4/4

Happy Easter! Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Sunday 4/4. The Model had a 1-2 night however we were positive due to our huge dog Senators (+215) bullying the Habs in a 6-3 win. The Isles/Flyers played conservative and we missed that over by 0.5 goals, and the Rangers again needed OT against Buffalo this time losing in shootout. Negative by win percentage but positive by units, we will take it.

We have 6 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Lightning Puck Line (-1.5, -134) and Money Line (-345) over the Red Wings
  • Capitals Money Line (-165) over the Devils
  • Panthers Puck Line (-1.5, +135) and Money Line (-190) over the Blue Jackets
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-165) over the Stars
  • Coyotes Money Line (-136) over the Ducks
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-155) over the Flames

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Devils ML (+155): The Devils are definitely the worse team here, no doubt about it. However it is very hard to lose 8 straight games to 1 team. The Devils are 0-5-2 against Washington this year. The game on Friday the Devils played a very even game and had opportunities in OT to pull this out. This line provides a little value here on the Devs (Model ML is +148), so we are riding.

Hurricanes -1 (-107): The Stars squeaked out a 3-2 win last night against Carolina, however the Hurricanes dominated the game. They had 60% CF, 62% SCF, and 65% HDCF. For reference anything above 50% means they were better than their opponent. Petr Mrazek should be making his return today from injury and looked very good early in the season. We like the Hurricanes to bounce back today and get the win.

Lightning/Red Wings Over (5.5, -103): Late add here on the news that Lightning will be starting Chris Gibson. Who is Chris Gibson? I have no idea and that is why I am taking the over. This game also ended 2-1 yesterday so we are due for some goals. Get it quick before the line jumps as the goalie news just came out.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 4/3

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 4/3. The Model went 2-1, technically 2-2 if you count my extremely biased Devils ML play that I only took because I was at the game. I still don’t know how that Avs/Blues over didn’t hit, but at least we got Coyotes ML and our dog Sharks ML. Not a bad night.

We have 11 games on the NHL slate today starting with 2 games at 1:00. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

  • Panthers Money Line (-159) over the Blue Jackets
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +100) and Money Line (-250) over the Sabres
  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +143) over the Flyers

My Picks

Free Picks

Flyers/Islanders Over 5.5 (-120): The Flyers are on a sharp downward trajectory and they are letting in goals at an alarmingly high rate over the last month (75 goals, 4.4 goals/game). The Islanders who don’t usually score goals have actually been generating a high number of chances and goals. The Flyers hit their overs at 82% on the road (highest in the league) and the Islanders hit their overs at 71% at home, so let’s get some goals here.

Rangers -1.5 (+100): We are going to give this another try today. The Rangers won in OT on Thursday but dominated the game. They are facing the better goaltender for Buffalo in Ullmark. They led Buffalo in High Danger Chances (19-8), Scoring Chances (29-17) and Expected Goals (3.38-1.88). Getting this at even odds is great which is why we are taking it tonight.

Premium Pick

Senators ML (+215): I hate doing this but the edge is there. The Senators have given the Canadiens all sorts of trouble this season winning 3 of their 5 meetings. Do they have any business winning this game? Nope. But The Model has their line priced +175 so there is a monster edge on the +215 line which forces my hand here.

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments, and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. 4/3 NHL Stack Report

  1. Colorado Avalanche 1
    Rantanen – MacKinnon – Landeskog (FanDuel: $24,700 | DraftKings: $24,600)
Oh boy, a couple of seasons ago, this matchup would’ve set the league on fire. Now it’s turned into a bit of a mismatch, not necessarily because St. Louis has gotten considerably worse but because Colorado has just gotten so much better, and their players have really solidified their roles on the team (especially this top line). This line has been producing at an insane pace and has easily the best matchup tonight against St. Louis’s struggling backup, Ville Husso. Colorado leads the league in goals per game and shots on goal per game, and much of that production is solely due to this line. It’s safe to say this one could get out of hand fast. Colorado has the slate’s second-highest implied goals total at 3.4, only behind our other top line, and we’ll get to them in a minute. Either way, 3.4 still seems low as this line comes together for Colorado’s high-performing power play and is up against one of the league’s worst penalty kills. Now this line is not cheap, so in order to be able to afford the rest of your line, I’d consider nabbing two players from the four available options (COL1+Makar). If you want more than that, though, I don’t blame you. (Look at today’s Wild Card plays for usable value options)
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Cale Makar (FD: $5,600 | DK: $6,000)
  2. Montreal Canadiens 1
    Tatar – Danault – Gallagher (FanDuel: $16,500 | DraftKings: $15,600)
    – Wow, this matchup is borderline unfair, now, although Ottawa can cause some problems for teams on occasion, the raw talent just isn’t there, and since coming back from an extended break due to some players contracting COVID-19, Les Canadiens have come back with a vengeance. Especially this top line, who has scored two goals in each game since the absence with everyone getting involved. Stats-wise, this game is a bit of a joke. As mentioned above, Montreal holds the highest implied goal total on the slate at 3.7, while Ottawa holds one of the lowest on the slate at 2.4. Besides that, Montreal will be facing off against Matt Murray, who holds the abysmal stat line of 7-12-1, 3.84 GAA and .880 SV%. Pure trash. Montreal is near the top of the league in goals per game at 3.24, Ottawa is the league’s worst in goals allowed at 3.73 and near worst in shots allowed at 32.4 SOG allowed per game. Furthermore, Montreal has embarked on a bit of a winning streak, winning their last three while Ottawa has dropped their last two and now sits last in the North Division. As if that wasn’t enough, Ottawa’s home/road splits prove that they cannot play on away ice, and this game will be played at Centre Bell in Quebec, Canada. On top of all of that, this line is extremely affordable! Get ready for the fireworks tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Shea Weber (FD: $4,900 | DK: $5,400)

    Honorable Mention(s): NYR1, DAL1

4/3 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Carey Price (FD: $7,700 | DK: $8,400)
  2. Philipp Grubauer (FD: $8,600 | DK: $8,300)

    Honorable Mention(s): Kahkonen, Varlamov, Shesterkin

Worst

  1. Matt Murray (FD: $6,600 | DK: $6,900)
    Honorable Mention(s): Husso, Hart, Ullmark

4/3 NHL Wild Card Targets

Jason Robertson (FD: $4,500 | DK: $5,000)
– Jason cannot stop producing. Last game, Robertson potted the game-winning goal en route to the Stars’ 4-1 win over the red hot Nashville Predators. That goal marked three straight games with a goal for Robertson and capped off an awe-inspiring week for the rookie winger as he notched seven points over his last seven games. It is undeniable that this is Robertson’s break-out moment. He consistently sees 20 minutes or more TOI per game and regularly gets three or more shots on target each and every game. Tonight will be a bit of a test for Jason against a talented goalie in James Reimer, but after the season Robertson has been having, he should pass this test with flying colours. Jason stacks well alongside his linemates Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski, as well as defenseman John Klingberg.

Honorable Mention(s): Martinez, Verhaeghe, Trocheck, Fox, Donskoi

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Nathan MacKinnon

Winger Jason Robertson

Defence Cale Makar

Goalie Carey Price

NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/2

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/2. The Model had an average night going 2-3. The Isles/Caps over hit in the first period, which was amazing. We also took the Panthers live after going down 1 and they pulled it off in OT. The Rangers had a chance to hit the empty net to hit the -1.5 and the Sabres defender dove in front to save it, that sucked. The Lightning also hit a post with 5 seconds left on the empty net to not cover the -1.5 And the Golden Knights/Wild had 3 in the first and an xG total of almost 9, yet only ended 3-2 and didn’t hit the over. Pain.

We have 6 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Money Line (-157) over the Devils
  • Jets Puck Line (+1.5, -210) over the Maple Leafs
  • Oilers Money Line (-140) over the Flames
  • Avalanche Puck Line (-1.5, +108) and Money Line (-225) over the Blues

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. If we get Johansson for the Avs the over at 5.5 is extremely enticing. It’s a risk to take it before that info is announced, but as soon as that is announced it will jump to 6 or 6.5.

My Picks

Avalanche/Blues Over 5.5 (-120): I’m doing it. They have a B2B and I can see them rolling with Johansson tonight. Even if they don’t, the Avs offense has been such a juggernaut lately that they can easily put up 4+ goals and I wouldn’t bat an eye. If we get Johansson in net for the Avs that should easily allow the Blues to carry their weight on this over. The Avs lead the league in GF, xGF, and have a dominate PP. The Blues give up over 3 goals per game and have a weak PK. Let’s ride with this over.

Coyotes ML (-124): The Coyotes have a good chance now of making the playoffs with the Blues recent slide. The fact that the Blues are playing the best team in the West and the Yotes are playing the worst team should incentivize them to come out strong. The only concern for me is the Yotes goaltending as Adin Hill got lit up against the Avs Wednesday. The Ducks aren’t good though and the Yotes need this W so we ride with them tonight.
