NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 4/20

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 4/20. The Model finally returned to expected form last night, going 2-1 but was +2 units because the DOGS WERE BARKING. The Senators took care of business and cashed as a +185 dog against the Flames winning 4-2. The over in the Wild/Coyotes cruised as they scored 7 goals and cashed with +120 odds. The only loss was Columbus who got burned on an empty net with 30 seconds left to lose 4-2. Close from a clean sweep and a dominant night but we will take this. We look ahead to Tuesday riding high.

We have 8 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Panthers Money Line (-220) over the Blue Jackets
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -250) over the Islanders
  • Rangers/Islanders Under (5.5, -120)
  • Bruins Money Line (-305) over the Sabres
  • Penguins Money Line (-250) over the Devils
  • Red Wings Money Line (+215) over the Stars
  • Red Wings/Stars Under (5.5, -143)
  • Kings Money Line (-155) over the Ducks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. It looks like we will get the NHL debut of Spencer Knight for the Panthers tonight. One of the most highly-touted goalie prospects of the last decade and an American stud, let’s hope he gets off to a good start in the league.

My Picks

Hurricanes ML (+104): We are going back to the dogs tonight, albeit this one is slight. The second game of a back-to-back, the Canes should have the goaltending edge with McElhinney projected for the Lightning. Not to mention Stamkos is out in addition to missing Kucherov all season, and the Canes need to bank some points. Relatively even teams we like the Canes at plus money in this spot here.

Bruins -1.5 (-110): The Bruins are a different team post trade deadline. They have been rolling teams and are on a warpath to the finish. I will give the Sabres some credit they have been playing well as of late and got a win against Pittsburgh on Saturday and lost to the Bruins in a shootout on Tuesday. However the Sabres are the third-worst team covering +1.5 (53.8%) and even though the Bruins aren’t great covering -1.5 (32.5%, 21st in the league), they have covered in their last 3 games and we’re getting great value with the ML around -300.

Penguins 1P -0.5 (2U): The first 2 unit play on here, against my New Jersey Devils? Infathomable. The Devils have been getting pummeled and starting slow, trailing 3-0 in 4 (!!) consecutive games. Let’s add that Ty Smith and Mackenzie Blackwood are out tonight, in addition to Zacha and Bratt who have missed the last couple of games, and this is just too appetizing to pass up. I never take first period bets and I never do 2 unit bets so why wouldn’t I throw the hammer against my own team tonight. Too much value here to ignore.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for a Monday night and we have a 7 game slate to break down!

If you were with us last night you probably had a pretty solid night as the Stars’ top line, as well as the McDavid lines, came through for us. Tonight we have a seven-game slate with games being replays of Monday, with Florida and Dallas being two teams we want to go right back with so I won’t cover them today, but instead will look for other teams to compliment those lines.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Cash Game Goalie:

Chris Driedger ($8,100/$7,800)

Driedger is the expected starter tonight for the Panthers against Columbus on the second night of a back-to-back. In two starts against the Blue Jackets this season, Driedger is 1-0-1 with 61 saves on 63 shots including a 32 save shutout of this team back on April 4th. Last night Bobrovsky stopped 34 of 36 against this same team, so the shot volume is there for a big night for Driedger.

Other Cash Options: Jake Oettinger ($8,200/$7,600), Jack Campbell ($8,400/$8,200), Casey DeSmith ($8,300/$8,100)

GPP Goalie:

Semyon Varlamov ($7,900/$8,400)

This play is somewhat risky when you consider how hot the Rangers offense has been of late, averaging 3.4 goals per game in their last 10, but Varlamov has been equally as hot. This season against New York, Varly has 2 shutouts in three starts and has stopped 86 of 89 shots faced. I anticipate the Rangers being one of the higher owned teams on this slate so rostering Varlamov, while risky, could bring you to the top of the leaderboard if he performs as he has against the Rangers all season.

Other GPP Options: John Gibson ($7,400/$6,900), Jonathan Quick ($7,800/$6,900), James Reimer ($7,600/$8,600) – DK only play, too pricey on FD for the matchup

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Sid the Kid hosts the Lowly Devils

Pittsburgh has the best of both worlds tonight when it comes to NHL DFS. This is not just me being a homer, ok maybe a little, but their offense is all of a sudden one of the top units in the NHL again and I want to take advantage of that tonight. Obviously, their top line with long-time captain Sidney Crosby ($8,200/$7,900) at the pivot is a great play. Flanked by his wingers, Jake Guentzel ($7,400) and Bryan Rust ($6,900/$5,800) this line stack is the top overall play on the slate and is essential for cash games. On the other hand, they have a solid CHEAP value line that has been producing of late. Pittsburgh’s third line of Teddy Blueger/Zach Aston-Reese/Evan Rodrigues comes in at only $7.9K in salary on DK and $10.1K on FD. You can roster this entire line on DK for less than Sid, crazy. Blueger has points in three of his last four games, and Rodrigues has points in two straight. Rodrigues even gives you exposure to the second PP unit as well. Both Kris Letang and Mike Matheson are solid defensemen to pair up with these lines for a PP stack.

Disney Heads to Hollywood!

LA is hosting the Ducks tonight and while I like both goalies as GPP options in this game, I don’t expect dueling shutouts. Los Angeles top line has one of the safest floors on this slate and I really like them for both cash and GPP, but I think this is more of a GPP stack. Nobody ever really plays the Kings in DFS, which is understandable, but tonight I think they could be your late-night hammer. All three of these linemates had their 3 game point streaks snapped last game against Vegas so tonight is a great night to start new streaks! Anze Kopitar is the only one of the three priced over $6K on either site, and both Alex Iafallo and Dustin Brown are under $5K on FanDuel tonight making them a pretty inexpensive top-tier stack tonight.

This one’s for you, Allan!

Might as well briefly mention the Toronto Maple Leafs for my boy Allan. There you go, I mentioned them. Good night! But no, of course, the Maple Leafs are in play, and of course, Auston Matthews ($9,100/$8,700) is the best play from the Leafs. Their entire top line is a good stack tonight, as is their second line. If I am playing Toronto though, I am finding a way to get the Matthews in my lineup, even as a one-off.

The Best of the Rest

Like I mentioned in the open the same units we played from Dallas and Florida are in play like they were on Monday night. Both of the Rangers’ top two lines are in play tonight for cash games, but I think ownership may keep me off them in GPP’s. In the same game, you have to like the Islanders’ top line as well. I love Travis Zajac near min price on both sites bringing the price down on that stack and getting you exposure to Barzal and Eberle. Campbell has not been great of late so the top line from Vancouver is in play, especially with how they played against the Leafs on Sunday night. Detroit3 was a great play last night, so let’s go right back there for some value, and the same goes for Tampa2. Anaheim’s 3rd line is another good value line, especially Sam Steel and Max Comtois who are both cheap and get PP1 exposure.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

** Remember to always try and pair your defenseman up with forwards. One-off dmen are not usually the best option**

Top Defensemen

  1. Adam Fox (NYR) – Should win the Norris this year…but won’t
  2. Victor Hedman (TB) – Will probably win the Norris this year…but shouldn’t
  3. Dougie Hamilton (CAR)
  4. Seth Jones (CBJ)
  5. John Klingberg (DAL)
  6. Kris Letang (PIT)
  7. Brandon Montour (FLA)
  8. Morgan Rielly (TOR)
  9. Ryan Pulock (NYI)
  10. Drew Doughty (LA)

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Brady Skjei (CAR)
  2. Gustav Forsling (FLA)
  3. David Savard (TB)
  4. Mike Matheson (PIT)
  5. Josh Manson (ANH)
  6. Jamie Oleksiak (DAL)
  7. Ryan Lindgren (NYR)
  8. Markus Nutivaara (FLA)
  9. Danny Dekeyser (DET)
  10. Sami Vatanen (DAL)

NHL Betting Picks Monday 4/19

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 4/19. The Model had a 1-2 night on games that had no business playing out the way they did. An early Bruins win over the Caps had me feeling good. But then Pittsburgh decided to lose their first game in 9 (!!) years on the road against Buffalo in regulation. That was a shocker to say the least. Then an even bigger shock was the Maple Leafs losing to a Vancouver team who basically got destroyed by COVID. The biggest favorite to lose in the last 20 years. So that was how the night went. Fun stuff. It’s Monday though so we are on to a new week.

We have 8 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Hurricanes Money Line (+102) over the Lightning
  • Panthers Puck Line (-1.5, +107) and Money Line (-220) over the Blue Jackets
  • Red Wings Money Line (+195) over the Stars
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +160) and Money Line (-155) over the Coyotes
  • Wild/Coyotes Over (5.5, +108)
  • Senators Puck Line (+1.5, -141) over the Flames
  • Oilers Money Line (-124) over the Canadiens
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-245) over the Sharks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Wild/Coyotes Over 5.5 (+120): I am actually shocked how this over is +120. These teams are 3-3 in their 6 matchups on the over this season. The Wild have been scoring/letting up goals in bunches lately. Both teams are over 50% on hitting their overs this season (ARI 57%, MIN 53%), both teams have even better number on their home/away numbers for this particular matchup. This is great value and we are riding with that tonight.

Senators ML (+185): On paper Calgary should be a significantly better team than Ottawa, however that doesn’t seem to be the case. Both teams were sellers at the deadline and are basically out of playoff contention. The Sens have some fight and The Model prices them around +170. The Sens have won 5 of 7 meetings this season and at this price it’s good enough for us to ride.

Blue Jackets +1.5 (-125): Going pretty underdog heavy today. The Blue Jackets were also sellers at the deadline while the Panthers were buyers. They also just had a huge win on Saturday against Tampa and have been rolling. We have the best possible goalie matchup here (Elvis vs Bob), and I can even see an outright upset. However we are going to play this one safe and take the +1.5 line. The Panthers are 11-18 on the puckline as favorites this season and can see a Columbus cover tonight.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for a Monday night and we have an 8 game slate to break down!

Another Monday and another large slate of NHL action to go through for tonight. We have two North Division games that are two of the top places to start when building tonight. Both Nashville and Florida are also in great spots tonight and are on my radar as teams that may get overlooked with Edmonton and Vegas, and even Calgary getting a lot of the attention tonight because of their matchups. We also have Carolina and Tampa playing, which could easily be game of the night, but just might not be a game we want to target in fantasy.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Cash Game Goalie:

Robin Lehner ($8,500) vs San Jose

Lehner has a pretty weak matchup in San Jose and is priced up accordingly. I believe Lehner will be the highest owned goalie on this slate along with Jacob Markstrom ($8,300/$7,500) as he and the Flames take on Ottawa. San Jose has been terrible offensively in their last five games, scoring just seven goals in that stretch. Contrasting that with how the Golden Knights netminder has played, winning four of his last five games while allowing just 9 goals in the process and is coming off a shutout in his last game on Friday.

Other Cash Options: Jake Oettinger ($7,200/$7,600), Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,100/$7,800), Kaapo Kahkonen ($7,900/$8,100)

GPP Goalie:

Juuse Saros ($8,000) vs Chicago

Nashville has been on fire in the second half of the season and a big part of it is their goaltending. Saros has been practically been a wall in net the last couple of weeks. In his last ten starts the Finnish netminder has a 7-3 record along with an outstanding .939 save % while allowing just 19 goals and averaging nearly 30 saves per game. I think the Preds goalie (I am assuming Saros starts, but if it’s Rinne he has been just as good) comes in low owned because people may be scared off by the matchup with Chicago. Nashville has won all five matchups with Chicago this season and allowed just 6 goals in those 5 matchups.

Other GPP Options: Mikko Koskinen ($7,800/$7,300), Jake Allen ($7,700/$7,400), Darcy Kuemper ($7,600/$6,500)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Dallas Stars Top Line vs Detroit

This of course is only relevant if Roope Hintz ($6,700/$6,400) decides he wants to play today. He has been like an NBA player this season with the constant will he/won’t he game-time decisions. If he is healthy Dallas projects as one of the top lines and one of the lines with the safest floors on the slate. Combining Hintz with veteran winger Joe Pavelski ($7,100/$7,400) and Calder Trophy front runner, Jason Robertson ($6,400/$4,900) this is one of the most unheralded top lines in the league. Robertson is an outstanding one-off on FD thanks to his stupid low price, he is basically a must-play over there.

The Connor McDavid Traveling Circus

McDavid and the Oilers are actually having a good season in 2021 and are always one of the top plays on the slate, and usually most expensive as well. Edmonton is at home to the Canadiens tonight and of course, are in a great spot to put up the fantasy points again. Leon Draisaitl ($8,700/$8,200) is back with McDavid (at the time of writing) and makes for a very expensive mini stack. I think we could see a dip in ownership on them because of the size of this slate, but in cash games, I would make them a priority and fill in with some of the value around the league (IE: Robertson and the Wild and Preds value)

Vegas Golden Knights Bring the Value!

We love to play Vegas every time they are on a slate, but they can be pricey. Of course, both Mark Stone ($6,600/$7,300) and Max Pacioretty ($8,200/$8,00) are outstanding plays tonight, but we can’t afford all the top plays (unless you play on SuperDraft where there are no salaries) so we need to find the value in top teams. Vegas’ third line has been a bright spot for this team since last week when they acquired Mattias Janmark ($2,800/$3,600). Janmark has picked up an assist and 7 shots on goal in his 3 games since joining the Knights. Unfortunately, DK has him listed as a center so this is one of those spots where if you line stack them you will use two center spots. Luckily there is plenty of winger depth on this slate (Draisaitl is a wing on DK) to make up for that. Both Tomas Nosek ($3,400/$3,600) and Alex Tuch ($3,800/$4,000) play on the Golden Knights’ second power-play unit and are actually my preferred plays from this line. Alex Pietrangelo ($5,900/$5,800) and Reilly Smith ($3,900/$4,300) round out this unit. Keep an eye on Smith’s status since he left Sunday’s game with an injury

The Best of the Rest

Both of Vegas’ top two lines are in play of course like I mentioned above, I also really like the Ottawa Senators’ top line of Batherson/Tkachuk/Norris for GPP’s, especially if Louie Domingue starts for the Flames. Another top-end value play is the Panthers’ 3rd line with Patric Hornqvist adding PP1 exposure. I also like a two-man stack of Barkov/Gusev from Florida as well. Nashville’s top line of Grimaldi/Johansen/Arvidsson is cheap and has a good matchup as I mentioned. Two other GPP lines I like are Montreal 1 & Minnesota 3, both lines have high ceilings and low floors.

NHL DFS: Defensemen Rankings

** Remember to always try and pair your defenseman up with forwards. One-off dmen are not usually the best option**

Top Defensemen

  1. Shea Theodore (VGK)
  2. Dougie Hamilton (CAR) – Might be low owned because of the matchup
  3. Darnell Nurse (EDM)
  4. Roman Josi (NSH)
  5. Jakob Chychrun (ARI) – Because he’s Chychrun and he’s awesome
  6. Alex Martinez (VGK)
  7. Victor Hedman (TB)
  8. Mark Giordano (CGY)
  9. Seth Jones (CBJ)
  10. Miro Heiskanen (DAL)

I have already mentioned Pietrangelo with the Vegas value, so that is why he is not on this list, but he is a great play as well

Top Value Defensemen:

  1. Brandon Montour (FLA) – Great play with the Barkov/Gusev 2 man
  2. Wyatt Kalynuk (CHI)
  3. Kris Russell (EDM)
  4. Jaccob Slavin (CAR)
  5. Juuso Valimaki (CGY)
  6. Scott Harrington (CBJ)
  7. Niklas Hjalmarsson (ARI)
  8. Ben Harpur (NSH)
  9. Gustav Forsling (FLA)
  10. Jamie Oleksiak (DAL)

NHL Betting Picks Sunday 4/18

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Sunday 4/18. The Model had an even night going 2-2. The over/unders treated us well with the Sens/Habs hitting the under 6 in a 4-0 Sens victory, and the Caps/Flyers lighting up the board and allowing the over 6.5 to hit in a 6-3 Caps win. The Blues let us down starting up 2-0 then losing 3-2, and the Devils game gave us a roller coaster of emotion going down 4-0, then coming back to make it 4-3, before ultimately losing 6-3. We move on to Sunday to finish the week strong.

We have 6 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Money Line (+130) over the Bruins
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +123) over the Devils
  • Penguins Money Line (-250) over the Sabres
  • Islanders Money Line (-135) over the Flyers

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. The Sabres are playing a goalie I have never even heard of, and that is saying something for the Sabres who’s normal tandem is Linus Ullmark and Dustin Tokarski. The Canucks also are finally back of a long layoff with COVID. Unfortunately for them their symptoms were quite terrible and they draw an instant tough matchup with Toronto today.

My Picks

Leafs -1.5 (-115): As mentioned this is the Canucks first game in about 3 weeks due to COVID. Their symptoms were so bad and players have admitted they still have not fully recovered. Their mind is on their health and family (as it should be), however that doesn’t mean we can’t bet against them. They are also missing 5 players still including their better goalie (Demko). The Leafs are the best team in the North Division and I expect them to dominate Vancouver tonight.

Penguins -1.5 (+100): Another -1.5 spread, how could this go wrong. The Penguins have played Buffalo 5 times this season and have covered the puck line in 4 of those games. The only time they didn’t was yesterday. However as mentioned above Buffalo is playing a goalie I have never even heard of before. That strategy worked against when I faded Swayman from Boston however he has turned out to be quite a good goalie. This guy playing for Buffalo couldn’t get starts over Tokarski and Johansson therefore I feel more comfortable this time around.

Bruins ML (-130): The Bruins seem to be turning the corner after a worse-than-expected start to the season. Their trade deadline additions of Reilly, Hall, and Lazar are already paying dividends. They have the rest advantage here and probably the goaltending advantage too. The Caps have been hard to evaluate this season because their underlying numbers don’t suggest they should be doing as well as they are. The Bruins are 3-1-2 against Washington this season, with their most recent battle an 8-1 loss last Sunday. Look for a Boston bounce back today.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 4/17

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 4/17. The Model had a nice 1-0 night with the Habs holding on for a 2-1 win. Pretty weak slate yesterday so we will take our win and move on to today. We have a lot of games today so we will definitely be able to find some value.

We have 11 games on the NHL slate today starting at 12:30. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Money Line (-135) over the Flyers
  • Capitals/Flyers Over (6.5, -105)
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +104) over the Devils
  • Penguins Money Line (-286) over the Sabres
  • Canadiens/Senators Under (6, +102)
  • Coyotes Puck Line (+1.5, -230) over the Blues
  • Lightning Puck Line (-1.5, +150) over the Panthers
  • Red Wings Puck Line (+1.5, -210) over the Blackhawks
  • Jets Money Line (-125) over the Oilers
  • Wild Money Line (-186) over the Sharks
  • Stars Puck Line (-1.5, +133) over the Blue Jackets

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Devils +1.5 (-120): The Devils have been getting their doors beaten off by the Rangers losing by a combined score of 7-0 in their last 2 games. Before these games the Devils had the Rangers number in MSG winning the first two matchups there this season. The +1.5 number is getting us good value at -124, here is to hoping the Devils wake up and can at least cover that number. I am not even asking them to win here, come on.

Senators/Canadiens Under 6 (-105): These two teams have not scored a bunch lately, and even better they don’t score much when they play each other. The Under is 5-2 in their 7 matchups this year. Both teams hit their Overs at less than 41% this season. I like the 6 number so we don’t lose if they hit 6, you can get 6.5 around -120 if you want to pay the little extra juice to win on the 6 number.

Blues ML (-132): The Blues have finally looked like the Blues as of late, while the Coyotes have been sputtering a bit. The Model gives the Blues a price of -142, so we are getting some edge there. The Blues, who have been pretty negative on the ML this season, are actually slightly positive on the road and the Coyotes are slightly negative at home. Binnington looks locked in and we are riding with the Blues tonight.

We’re back with another Saturday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Tonight we have a medium-sized 6-game slate ahead of us. We are now past the trade deadline so we will be seeing some new faces on some teams. With that in mind, there are lots of interesting plays to cover tonight, so let’s get right into it. Get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 4/17 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET, so don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments, and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. DraftKings has stayed the same but don’t forget last season they revamped the scoring and added stats bonuses, so if you’re new to NHL or haven’t played in a while, check out our live stream on the WinDaily YouTube by clicking here and read through the rules on the site of your choice!

4/17 NHL Stack Report

  1. Winnipeg Jets 1
    Copp – Scheifele – Connor (FanDuel: $18,100 | DraftKings: $19,800)
We gotta strike while the iron is hot here. Last Thursday, Winnipeg simply outplayed the Matthewless Leafs in every facet of the game en route to a 5-2 smashing. This line scored goals two, three and five and are in a great spot tonight against their divisional competitor in the Edmonton Oilers. There’s a high chance that these teams end up facing each other in the first round of the playoffs, so they’ll want to make sure they know exactly what they’re gonna be up against. When it comes to the Oilers’ goaltending in Koskinen, there is not much to celebrate for Oilers fans. He has a mediocre SV% subpar GAA and has barely any blue line support. Winnipeg is near the top of the league in most offensive stat categories, while the Oilers are middle of the pack in terms of goals allowed per game and well behind the rest of the league in shots on goal allowed per game. Trust me, the Oilers better hope they don’t give up too many clean looks to the Jets, or else they’ll pay the same price the Leafs did last game. At a 3.2 Implied goals total, I’ll be locking Winnipeg in my lines tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Neal Pionk (FD: $4,300 | DK: $4,200)
  2. Chicago Blackhawks 1
    Kane – Dach – DeBrincat (FanDuel: $18,300 | DraftKings: $19,500)
    – I know Detroit beat Chicago last game, but statistically, this is Chicago’s game. Despite not getting on the score sheet last game, Patrick Kane has been flying over the past week with three assists and 17 shots over his past three games. Furthermore, getting a cheaper line with Dach at the centre position makes this an even stronger play. Bernier is a mixed bag in net and always has been. Sometimes he’s sharp, sometimes he’s a sieve, but the state of Detroit’s defensive lines won’t be doing him any favours tonight. Chicago has a nice implied total at 3.1, and Chicago has been lethal on the power play all season where all three of Kane, Dach and DeBrincat play on the top unit.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Connor Murphy (FD: $3,700 | DK: $5,300)

    Honorable Mention(s): EDM1, DAL1, CAR2, MIN2

4/17 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Kevin Lankinen (FD: $7,000 | DK: $8,400)
  2. Connor Hellebuyck (FD: $7,800 | DK: $8,200)

    Honorable Mention(s): Mrazek, Khudobin, Kahkhonen

Worst

  1. Joonas Korpisalo (FD: $6,900 | DK: $7,500)
    Honorable Mention(s): Bernier, Komenar

4/17 NHL Wild Card Targets

Jason Robertson (FD: $4,800 | DK: $5,700)
– Robertson has been playing some insane hockey, and I’m prepared to ride this wave to this finish line. He hasn’t slowed down as of late, and his price keeps staying the same! Especially on FanDuel, sub 5K for a consistent scorer on the top line of a favoured team? They can’t be serious. I am definitely locking Jason Robertson in, especially because the Stars face the Blue Jackets tonight, who have some very questionable defence and goaltending.

Honorable Mention(s): Vrana, Dach, Gusev, Staal, Colton, Ehlers

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Mark Scheifele

Winger Jason Robertson

Defence Dougie Hamilton

NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/16

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/16. Woof. The Model took a beating last night going 0-3. Tax Day came for our necks. It’s bound to happen, based on my research most cappers who have been dominating this season are on a cold streak now. It’s that time of year when the NHL makes absolutely no sense. We are going to navigate the waves and keep pushing. Still insanely positive this year (+28.7 units, 10.4% ROI). On to Friday.

We have 5 games on the NHL slate tonight (UPDATE: Avs/Kings just got cancelled, only 4 games tonight). Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Canadiens Puck Line (-1.5, +180) over the Flames
  • Islanders Puck Line (+1.5, -250) over the Bruins
  • Islanders/Bruins Under (5, +118)
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +128) and Money Line (-195) over the Sharks
  • Avalanche Money Line (-286) over the Kings (Cancelled)
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-245) over the Ducks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Canadiens ML (-135): Just 1 play tonight with only 4 games on the slate. This one stood out as one where the Candiens are due for a regression against the Flames. The underlying numbers suggest they are definitely the better team, however they are 1-4-0 against the Flames this season. Some times one team has another team’s number, other times it’s a bit of puck luck, sometimes it’s a combination of both. Let’s hope for the latter and we get some puck luck in our favor tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 4/15

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 4/15. The Model sputtered a little bit going 1-2 last night. The Jets giving up a goal with 12 seconds left to not cover the -1.5 at +146 hurt a lot. Two super soft penalties called against them led to a Senators 6-on-3 with 15 seconds left and they scored right off the faceoff. The Habs also laid a stinker against the Flames. At least that over hit or you might not be hearing from me today (kidding). We move on to Thursday.

We have 9 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Islanders Money Line (+108) over the Bruins
  • Penguins Money Line (-165) over the Flyers
  • Flyers/Penguins Over (6.5, +100)
  • Predators Puck Line (+1.5, -175) over the Hurricanes
  • Jets Puck Line (+1.5, -165) over the Maple Leafs
  • Lightning Puck Line (-1.5, +155) over the Panthers
  • Capitals Puck Line (-1.5, -141) and Money Line (-345) over the Sabres
  • Stars Puck Line (-1.5, +140) over the Stars

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. The Blue Jackets and Devils have some enticing ML odds as underdogs, but I can’t pull the trigger. The goalie matchup in the Jackets/Stars game favors Columbus if you are looking for a good plus-money dog tonight.

My Picks

Penguins -1 (-112): The Penguins are slowly getting healthy and even with their injuries have been playing well. The Flyers have been the exact opposite coming off a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of the Capitals. There are no trends to suggest the Flyers bounce back tonight, which is why we are taking the -1 to get some extra value on the ML which is currently around -165/-170.

Bruins/Islander Over 5.5 (+124): This is a game where the entire body of work on the season would suggest the under. Both teams suppress offense at an elite level, and the Bruins offense has been rather stagnant. However, we are getting this over at a pretty high plus-money price, they have hit the over 3 out of 5 meetings this season, and it is Tuukka Rask’s first start coming off injury, allowing an opportunity for rust. This is a great value play and we are riding tonight.

Capitals -1.5 (-125): The Sabres are down bad and the Caps are up good (if you will). The Sabres are in full rebuild mode and have nothing left to play for. The only concern is the Caps dominated the Flyers last game 6-1 and this is a potential let down spot. But we are getting 175 points of value between the ML (-300) and the PL (-125). The Caps are 3-4 on the puck line against Buffalo, but they have won their last two games by a combined 14-2 and the goals are flowing for Washington, so let’s hope they keep it up tonight.
