NHL DFS Picks

Tuesday brings us a massive 11 game slate in the NHL, and with NBA off for the day, all eyes will be on hockey. 11 games means you don’t have to worry too much about ownership, and there will be plenty of options. Check out our top NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel below. And, don’t forget to use our NHL Projection Model to fill out your lineups. Good luck!

Goalies

Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning host the Oilers tonight, which is usually reason to avoid a goalie spot. However, the Oilers come into Tampa on the back end of a traveling back-to-back. While there is certainly risk to this play, Vasilevskiy should see a ton of shots tonight, and Tampa has a slight advantage overall.

Vitek Vanecek – New Jersey Devils: The Devils host the Flames tonight, who are in a similar situation as the Oilers. The Flames went to OT last night on the road. The Devils should get a jump on the Flames tonight on home ice. Vanecek has been solid so far this year, and he should see a fair amount of shots, with a nice chance at a win.

Ville Husso – Detroit Red Wings: Detroit hosts Montreal tonight in a game that they should be able to win. Husso has been playing very well all year, sporting a 1.69 GAA for the year, and a fantastic 0.86 GAA over his last five starts.

Carter Hart – Philadelphia Flyers: The jury is still out on whether the Flyers will be good with Tortorella at the helm, but Torts certainly did something to help Carter Hart. He has a 1.49 GAA this season, and a 2.02 GAA over his last five. The Flyers host the Blues tonight, who have been struggling mightily. They also just played a game in Boston last night.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Logan Thompson – Vegas Golden Knights: Thompson has been very solid for the Knights this year, and he gets a road matchup with Toronto tonight. The Leafs can score, and the road matchup makes it a bit tougher for Thompson, but the shot volume will be there, so we could be talking save bonus on DraftKings.

Others to Consider: Connor Hellebuyck (WPG)., Scott Wedgewood (DAL), Martin Jones (SEA)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Tampa Bay Lightning Power Play – Brayden Point/Steven Stamkos/Nikita Kucherov/Vladislav Namestnikov/Victor Hedman: The Lightning will be hosting the Oilers tonight, who, as mentioned above, are on a traveling back to back. Additionally, the Oilers have the 29th ranked penalty killing unit, putting this power play squarely in play tonight. The top two lines for Tampa are in fantastic spots tonight, so feel free to mix and match with the top six here.

Vancouver Canucks Power Play – Bo Horvat/Elias Pettersson/JT Miller/Andrei Kuzmenko/Quinn Hughes: The Canucks head to Ottawa tonight to face the Senators, which makes for a good matchup for them. Your primary focus here should be the trio of Pettersson/Kuzmenko/Hughes, but mixing and matching can work too.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Buffalo Sabres Power Play – Tage Thompson/Jeff Skinner/Alex Tuch/Jack Quinn/Rasmus Dahlin: The Sabres have a great power play matchup tonight against the lowly Coyotes. Expect a bunch of scoring from the Sabres tonight, which is why the power play is the way to stack it. Doing so gives you access to multiple lines.

New York Rangers 2 – Vincent Trocheck/Jimmy Vesey/Alexis Lafreniere: The Rangers moved Panarin to the top line, so this becomes a lot more risky. If, however, Panarin comes back to play on this line, it becomes a top play, as the Rangers host the Islanders tonight. Even strength line matching suggests that this line should see a whole lot of opportunity tonight.

Seattle Kraken 1 – Alex Wennberg/Oliver Bjorkstrand/Andre Burakovsky/Justin Schultz: Based on the line matching tendencies, this top line should hard match Nashville’s top line, putting them in a very nice looking spot. They should see a bunch of chances tonight, and they make for a real nice late game hammer.

Philadelphia Flyers Power Play – Kevin Hayes/Travis Konecny/Owen Tippett/Scott Laughton/Tony DeAngelo: The Flyers’ power play unit will be up against the 28th ranked St. Louis penalty kill. While the Flyers’ power play is middle of the road, they are in a very good spot.

Welcome to the Man Advantage for Monday, November 7, 2022. Tonight brings us a small, three game slate for NHL DFS with some interesting places to look. There are some pretty obvious plays tonight, so it feels like it is going to be a tough one. Make sure to keep it simple tonight, maybe play a little light, and have some fun. Good luck!

Goalies

Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: The Bruins host the Blues tonight, who have been pretty bad early on. The Blues have lost five straight coming into tonight, and it doesn’t get any easier having to face the Bruins. Ullmark has had his ups and downs, but tonight he feels like a safe play.

Stuart Skinner – Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers head to Washington tonight to face the depleted Capitals. Skinner has the best GAA on the slate tonight, at 1.84, and the Capitals will be without their top D man in Carlson. This feels like a pretty good spot for the Oilers.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders: The Flames and Islanders game could see a bunch of scoring, which makes this play risky right off the bat. However, Sorokin has very good looking numbers of late, and he should see a decent amount of shots.

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Edmonton Oilers Power Play – Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl/Evander Kane/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins/Tyson Barrie: As mentioned above, the Capitals are pretty depleted, having Carlson out on D, and potentially even Orlov. If that happens, you will want as much Edmonton as you can get. Mix and match with this unit, but prioritize McDavid and/or Draisaitl.

Boston Bruins Power Play – Patrice Bergeron/Brad Marchand/David Pastrnak/Jake Debrusk/Hampus Lindholm: The Bs appear to be in a very, very good spot tonight against the Blues, and it is a true coinflip for which of these top plays comes out as the best.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Boston Bruins 2 – David Krejci/David Pastrnak/Taylor Hall/Matt Grzelcyk: To get a little different, you can run this line out tonight. They are in a great spot at even strength, and all but Pasta correlate on the second power play unit.

Calgary Flames 2 – Nazem Kadri/Dillon Dube/Andrew Mangiapane/Noah Hanifin: This is another good even strength spot, and there should be some goals scored in this game. The top Calgary line can be considered, but this one is doing far more damage.

New York Islanders 3 – Jean-Gabriel Pageau/Kyler Palmieri/Zach Parise/Ryan Pulock: This third line should see the top Calgary line for a good portion of the night, putting them in a plus matchup. Palmieri has been kind of on a tear recently, so this look is very intriguing.

NHL DFS Honorable Mentions: STL1, CGY1

Value Options – DraftKings

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on DraftKings. Be sure to stack!

Center: Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3100) – New York Islanders

Wing: Andrew Mangiapane ($3100) – Calgary Flames

Defense: Erik Gustafsson ($2600) – Washington Capitals

Value Options – FanDuel

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on FanDuel. Be sure to stack!

Center: Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($4900) – New York Islanders

Wing: Dillon Duber ($4200) – Calgary Flames

Defense: Erik Gustafsson ($3700) – Washington Capitals

Player Props

In this section, we will highlight some NHL player props that we like for the upcoming NHL slate.

Leon Draisaitl (EDM): over 3.5 shots on goal (+135 on DK Sportsbook)

Kyle Palmieri (NYI): anytime goal scorer (+350 on DK Sportsbook)

Wednesday brings us a tiny little two game slate, as Win Daily Sports takes you Between the Benches for our NHL DFS picks. Two games means this will be a very volatile slate, about as volatile as it can get. If you are playing, the best approach here is to pair the best plays with something off the wall. Either the chalk will crush and sink you, or you can have a great night if your off the wall plays happen to hit. Good luck!

Goalies

Instead of listing favorite goalies as we usually do in this section, we will rank them by their goals against average. It is best to just correlate your goalies with your main stacks tonight and hope for the best. Goalies tonight are very sketchy.

Ilya Samsonov – Toronto Maple Leafs: 2.35 GAA is the lowest on the slate, facing a Philly team that just went to OT in New York last night.

Casey DeSmith – Pittsburgh Penguins: 2.97 GAA and he will draw the start, as the Penguins are back-to-back tonight.

Felix Sandstrom – Philadelphia Flyers: As mentioned, the Flyers are on the back end of a traveling back-to-back, so Sandstrom should start. He has a 3.14 GAA, and is definitely no Carter Hart.

Eric Comrie – Buffalo Sabres: The worst GAA on the slate, he is sporting a 3.34 and facing a Pittsburgh team who can score from anywhere. However, they did travel to Buffalo after hosting the Bruins in a slugfest last night.

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Toronto Maple Leafs Power Play – Auston Matthews/John Tavares/William Nylander/Mitch Marner/Morgan Rielly: It’s the obvious play on the board, with the Leafs facing the Flyers on home ice against their backup goalie. There should be a lot of scoring from this unit tonight. On a short slate, power play looks tend to be successful, since you get access to multiple lines. They only edge out the Penguins because the Pens played last night and traveled.

Pittsburgh Penguins Power Play – Sidney Crosby/Evgenii Malkin/Jake Guentzel/Bryan Rust/Jeff Petry: Petry joining this unit makes him a very solid play on D tonight. This unit should have some success against the Sabres, who people may chase after their 8 goal explosion against the Red Wings a couple of nights ago.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Buffalo Sabres Power Play – Tage Thompson/Jeff Skinner/Alex Tuch/Jack Quinn/Rasmus Dahlin: The Sabres power play is definitely in play tonight, as they come into the game with the 12th ranked unit. The Pens have the 27th ranked PK, so there is a chance we could see some scoring from these guys. If stacking the power play, Tuch is almost a must, and mix and match the others.

Toronto Maple Leafs 3 – Pontus Holmberg/Calle Jarnkrok/Pierre Engvall: This line is in a fantastic spot against the top line for the Flyers. Everyone should be flocking to the top line, so get yourself some of this third line to be different, with a chance at upside.

Pittsburgh Penguins 3 – Drew O’Connor/Kasperi Kapanen/Danton Heinen: This is a similar spot to the Leafs’ third line, and will definitely be different. Kapanen/Heinen make a nice pair if you want to limit the exposure.

NHL DFS Honorable Mentions: PHI1, TOR2, PIT2, BUF4

Value Options – DraftKings

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on DraftKings. Be sure to stack!

Center: Casey Mittelstadt ($2900) – Buffalo Sabres

Wing: Alexander Kerfoot ($2900) – Toronto Maple Leafs

Defense: Marcus Pettersson ($3000) – Pittsburgh Penguins

Value Options – FanDuel

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on FanDuel. Be sure to stack!

Center: Casey Mittelstadt ($4600) – Buffalo Sabres

Wing: Pierre Engvall ($3800) – Toronto Maple Leafs

Defense: Brian Dumoulin ($3900) – Pittsburgh Penguins

Player Props

In this section, we will highlight some NHL player props that we like for the upcoming NHL slate.

Sidney Crosby (PIT): over 3.5 shots on goal (+130 on DK Sportsbook)

Alexander Kerfoot (TOR): anytime goal scorer (+240 on DK Sportsbook)

Welcome to November! We are into the second month of the NHL season already, and the first slate of November is a massive one. Twelve games are on the slate tonight, so there are a lot of places to go. We will do our best to narrow down the slate to the best plays. Good luck!

Goalies

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers: The Rangers host the Flyers tonight in what should be a fairly lopsided matchup. The Rangers outmatch the Flyers in a big way, and this should be a fairly safe bet for a win.

Logan Thompson – Vegas Golden Knights: The Knights head to D.C. tonight for a matchup with the Caps. Vegas has been playing well to start the season, and Thompson is one of the better young goalies in the league. He also gets overlooked quite a bit, so this is a good spot on a big slate.

Jack Campbell – Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers host the Predators tonight, and this should be a solid matchup for Campbell. Coming into tonight, the Preds are scoring just 2 goals per game on the road. This play does present a little bit of risk, so just be wary of that.

High Risk Goalie – Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: The Bruins head to Pittsburgh tonight for a matchup with the Penguins. Ullmark has a solid 1.7 GAA and should see plenty of shots from the Penguins. We are looking for a save bonus with this play, and anything above that, like a win, is a bigger bonus.

Others to Consider: Jacob Markstrom (CGY), Ilya Sorokin (NYI), Vitek Vanecek (NJD)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Florida Panthers Power Play – Aleksander Barkov/Sam Reinhart/Matthew Tkachuck/Anton Lundell/Brandon Montour: The Panthers face the Coyotes tonight, and they should be in line for a high scoring night. Most lines are in play tonight for the Panthers, including the third line. Mix and match with the power play here, and hopefully you can nail the scoring.

Dallas Stars 1 – Roope Hintz/Jason Robertson/Joe Pavelski/Nils Lundkvist: The Stars host the Kings tonight, who are on the back end of a traveling back-to-back. They are also rolling out Cal Petersen, who has a GAA of 4.1 on the season so far. With the Kings giving up 3.82 goals against so far this year, and the Stars scoring just over 3 per game, this is a really nice matchup for the top line. Lundkvist provides some nice value with power play correlation. Keep an eye on news, though, as Heiskanen might be back. If he is, he may slot into the top power play in place of Lundkvist.

San Jose Sharks Power Play – Logan Couture/Tomas Hertl/Timo Meier/Alexander Barabanov/Erik Karlsson: The Sharks take on the Ducks tonight, who are giving up a whopping 4 goals against per game so far this season. They are also sporting one of the worst penalty kill units in the league so far.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Nashville Predators 1 – Ryan Johansen/Filip Forsberg/Matt Duchene/Roman Josi: The Preds are in a nice spot tonight against the Oilers in Edmonton. As good as the Oilers are on offense, their defense can be spotty, so this one is definitely risky. The Preds haven’t been the best road team in the league, but they could be extremely sneaky tonight.

Los Angeles Kings 1 – Anze Kopitar/Adrian Kempe/Gabriel Vilardi/Drew Doughty: Ever since they moved Vilardi to the top line, these guys seemed to be clicking. They are risky tonight because they are on a back-to-back and traveling to Dallas. However, Dallas is likely to start Wedgewood in net, who has a whopping 4.29 GAA so far this season. This line should be able to produce in that environment.

Minnesota Wild 1 – Frederick Gaudreau/Mats Zuccarello/Kirill Kaprizov/Jared Spurgeon: You can pull Gaudreau and Spurgeon out of this stack and play Eriksson Ek/Addison instead for a power play look. The Wild host Montreal tonight, and they should be able to light the lamp against the Canadiens.

Montreal Canadiens 1 – Nick Suzuki/Cole Caufield/Kirby Dach: The other side of the MIN game is the Canadiens. The Wild have had a very tough run on defense so far this season, and their goaltending has been very bad. Expect this line to be able to do some damage as well. This could be one of the higher scoring games on the slate.

New Jersey Devils Power Play – NIco Hischier/Jack Hughes/Jesper Bratt/Nathan Bastian/Dougie Hamilton: If playing a trio, the preferred will be Hughes/Bratt/Hamilton. These guys have a nice matchup tonight against the next-to-last ranked PK for Vancouver. Their splits early on show that the Devils are much better at home so far, which is where the risk comes in. They should be an interesting spot and could make for a nice late-night hammer.

NHL DFS Honorable Mentions: CGYPP, NYIPP, ARIPP, NYR2, NSH1, TBLPP, OTT1, VGKPP, ANHPP

Value Options – DraftKings

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on DraftKings. Be sure to stack!

Center: Anton Lundell ($3400) – Florida Panthers

Wing: Mike Hoffman ($3400) – Montreal Canadiens

Defense: Caleb Jones ($2800) – Chicago Blackhawks

Value Options – FanDuel

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on FanDuel. Be sure to stack!

Center: Kirby Dach ($4700) – Chicago Blackhawks

Wing: Alexander Barabanov ($3800) – San Jose Sharks

Defense: Nils Lundkvist ($4000) – Dallas Stars – especially if Heiskanen is not on the top power play

Cash Considerations – DraftKings and FanDuel

Consider these NHL DFS plays for your cash lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. Cash lineups do not need to be stacked, and it is recommended to play no more than two players from a given team.

Center: Connor McDavid – Edmonton Oilers

Wing: Kirill Kaprizov – Minnesota Wild

Defense: Roman Josi – Nashville Predators

Goalie: Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers

Player Props

In this section, we will highlight some NHL player props that we like for the upcoming NHL slate.

Aleksander Barkov (FLA): over 1.5 points (+135 on DK Sportsbook)

Artemi Panarin (NYR): anytime goal scorer (+205 on DK Sportsbook)

Cole Caufield (MTL): anytime goal scorer (+170 on DK Sportsbook)
