NHL Betting Picks Monday 5/10

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 5/10. The Model took a day off with only 2 games on deck yesterday. We are embarking on the end of the season so it is important to study and understand what each team has left to play for and which players are resting for playoffs/next season. The lines should have that baked in but you should also be aware before betting on teams that normally you would think is good value but might have reason why that wouldn’t be good value.

We have 9 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Panthers Money Line (-115) over the Lightning
  • Islanders/Bruins Under (5.5, -143)
  • Oilers Money Line (-110) and Puck Line (+1.5, -286) over the Canadiens
  • Flyers/Devils Over (6.5, -105)
  • Hurricanes/Predators Under (5.5, -117)
  • Blackhawks Money Line (+120) over the Stars
  • Jets Puck Line (-1.5, +132) over the Canucks
  • Golden Knights Puck Line (-1.5, +235) over the Avalanche
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -220) over the Blues

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. Games like Carolina/Nashville and Edmonton/Montreal could be interesting and they have a decent chance of facing each other in the first round and might not want to give away all their secrets in a meaningless regular season game tonight right before the playoffs begin.

My Picks

Canadiens ML (+100): The Canadiens still have something to play for as they haven’t officially clinched yet and can still get as high as 3rd depending on how Winnipeg finishes the season. The Oilers on the other hand are locked into 2nd place and have nothing to play for. McDavid already hit 100 points so they might rest top players for playoffs. Even if they don’t rest those players they might not be going full throttle. At plus money and with the Habs being home I like this value a lot.

Bruins -1.5 (+160): Both of these teams have something to play for as there is 1 point separating them from 3rd and 4th in the division with Boston at 71 points and NYI at 70 (Boston has 1 game in hand). The Isles have been reeling of late and the Bruins have been dominating. Over the last month the Bruins are +9u on the puck line and the Isles are -6.5u. The Bruins also cover around 40% of games where they are favored. Based on these trends and the value on the puck line we like the Bruins covering tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/8

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/8. The Model was quiet last night going 0-1-1. Minnesota did not play a great game and were lucky to sneak an OT win against Anaheim, but that still didn’t help our -1.5 play. The Caps/Flyers looked to be in cruise control on that over with 5 goals through 2 periods. But a flat 3rd period and only 1 empty net goal led to a push on that over, glad we didn’t bite on the 6.5. The last big slate of the year and last Saturday of the season, let’s make it count.

We have 14 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Penguins Money Line (-420) and Puck Line (-1.5, -162) over the Sabres
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -103) over the Bruins
  • Senators Puck Line (+1.5, -140) over the Jets
  • Panthers Money Line (-104) over the Lightning
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-215) over the Canadiens
  • Capitals Money Line (-180) over the Flyers
  • Flyers/Capitals Over (6.5, +102)
  • Red Wings Puck Line (+1.5, -235) and Money Line (+118) over the Blue Jackets
  • Wild Money Line (-286) and Puck Line (-1.5, -109) over the Ducks
  • Oilers Puck Line (-1.5, +100) over the Canucks
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-190) and Puck Line (-1.5, +135) over the Blues
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -112) over the Avalanche
  • Sharks/Coyotes Over (5.5, -120)

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Lightning ML (-110): The Lightning are coming off a loss to Dallas last night and have their fate set in the playoffs as they know they will be playing Florida (who they also play today and Monday). The Lightning are a completely different team without Vas in net so luckily we get him back tonight. These teams aren’t locked into 2nd or 3rd yet so these games could be crucial in getting home-ice. Look for Tampa to ramp it up as playoffs are right around the corner and leverage their experience for a win tonight.

Devils +1.5 (-121): The Islanders are reeling as of late and the Devils are getting 3 players back in their lineup tonight (Johnsson, Siegenthaler, and Wood). The Isles will most likely be without Barzal again today. And while the Devils did win on Thursday, I am not as confident they pull it off again today. However I love getting the +1.5 at -121 and think there is some serious value there.

NHL Betting Picks Friday 5/7

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 5/7. Back-to-back great nights for The Model, going 3-1 last night. The Bruins -1.5 and the Blackhawks +1.5 both at plus money hit with ease, with the Blackhawks winning outright in OT and the Bruins cruising 4-0 over the Rangers. The late add of the Habs/Leafs over was an easy hit too as there were 4 goals in the first and a 5-2 win for the Leafs cashed that. The only L was the Oilers team total over 3.5 as they lost 6-3 to the Canucks. I debated taking the game over and ultimately rode with the Oilers team over. What a schmuck I am. Still up 3u on the day so we will take that. On to Friday

We have 7 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Lightning Money Line (-155) over the Stars
  • Red Wings Money Line (+132) and Puck Line (+1.5, -210) over the Blue Jackets
  • Red Wings/Blue Jackets Under (5, +114)
  • Capitals Money Line (-186) and Puck Line (-1.5, +120) over the Flyers
  • Capitals/Flyers Over (6, -125)
  • Wild Money Line (-295) and Puck Line (-1.5, -112) over the Ducks
  • Golden Knights Puck Line (-1.5, +150) and Money Line (-167) over the Blues
  • Sharks Puck Line (+1.5, -275) over the Coyotes

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. If we get Grubauer I am going to ride the Avs -1.5, however I am waiting for that confirmation as it is not worth the risk if we get one of Colorado’s backups instead.

My Picks

Capitals/Flyers Over 6 (-125): The two highest over teams on the season and we were able to find an over 6 line. Love that. You can find 6.5 at slightly above even (around +102), but just to be safe I am riding the 6 number tonight with Ovechkin probably out. Even with him out I still think these teams put up some goals. The Flyers defense/goaltending has been atrocious all season (3.68 GA/game). The Caps also sport an elite offense averaging 3.5 GF/game. On the flip side both the Flyers and Caps have pretty average offense and defense, respectively. Both teams are well over 50% on their over win percentages this year and we are riding some goals tonight.

Wild -1.5 (-112): Minnesota is one of the best puck line teams this season while Anaheim is one of the worst. Minnesota is basically locked into the 3-seed at this point for the playoffs and looks like a matchup with Colorado in the first round is likely. The good news is they still have 4 games left, including 2 against St. Louis who also have essentially clinched their 4-seed. I don’t foresee Minny resting players and going on cruise control until maybe the last game or 2. Anaheim has been dead for a while and although they did beat St. Louis on Wednesday, I think Minnesota pushes the gas tonight and covers the puck line tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 5/6

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 5/6. The Model bounced back going 2-0 last night. The Golden Knights needed OT to finish the Wild with a nice Pietrangelo finisher. The Jets absolutely dominated the Flames winning 4-0, a nice momentum building win leading to playoffs. With the Habs losing to the Sens it is also setting up a Leafs-Habs first round matchup, which is what everyone wants. Also, that Rangers/Caps game was electric. 3 fights off the opening faceoff, 6 fights in the first period, Wilson with an ‘upper-body’ injury in the 2nd, Buchnevich cross-checking Mantha in the face. I mean look at the Caps box after the 6th fight.

Image

This game had quite the playoff/revenge vibe and I loved every second of it. Playoffs are right around the corner let’s finish off this regular season strong.

We have 6 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Penguins Money Line (-345) and Puck Line (-1.5, -148) over the Sabres
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-295) over the Blackhawks
  • Bruins Money Line (-225) over the Rangers
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -139) over the Bruins
  • Rangers/Bruins Under (5.5, -113)
  • Islanders Money Line (-250) over the Devils
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-220) over the Canadiens
  • Oilers Puck Line (-1.5, -118) and Money Line (-286) over the Canucks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. Every single money line is -220 or greater for the favorites tonight. We are getting into that time of year with big discrepancies as teams who are eliminated are testing rookies and different lineups for next year, and resting players with nagging injuries. We look to the over/unders and puck lines to get some value tonight.

My Picks

Bruins -1.5 (+125): Finally a pick I absolutely love, which means it will definitely lose (kidding). The Rangers, who are eliminated from the playoffs already, had their Super Bowl last night and are probably emotionally exhausted. The Bruins want to keep winning to move up in the standings and maybe get home ice. When looking at the PL numbers the Rangers are good over the whole course of the season and the B’s are slightly above average. However over the last month it is reversed with the Rangers only +1.9u on the PL and the Bruins are +9u. I like getting this at plus money and we are riding heavy tonight.

Blackhawks +1.5 (+108): Chicago is trending downwards losing 2 straight matchups to Carolina by more than a goal. However throughout the course of the season they have done pretty well covering against Carolina. With Chicago rotating goalies lately it is a bit of a risk to take this without that being confirmed, but we should get Lankinen in net tonight. The Canes are 43% covering -1.5 and the Blackhawks are 58% covering +1.5, which would suggest a better than 50% chance the Blackhawks cover. With that probability and getting the +1.5 at plus money, we have to ride with this tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 5/5

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 5/5. Happy Cinco de Mayo to everyone! The Model had only 1 play last night and it did not hit. The Islanders lost back-to-back games against the Buffalo Sabres. That is shocking to say the least. It also didn’t help that the Isles best player Mat Barzal was ruled out about 20 minutes before the game. Like I said be wary of this last week of the season. The dogs might be barking tonight.

We have 9 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Senators Money Line (+133) over the Canadiens
  • Senators/Canadiens Under (5.5, +102)
  • Predators Money Line (-180) and Puck Line (-1.5, 148) over the Blue Jackets
  • Capitals Money Line (-139) over the Rangers
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -220) over the Capitals
  • Lightning Money Line (-152) over the Stars
  • Wild Puck Line (+1.5, -265) over the Golden Knights
  • Wild/Golden Knights Over (5.5, -124)
  • Blues Money Line (-245) over the Ducks
  • Ducks Puck Line (+1.5, -124) over the Blues
  • Avalanche Money Line (-275) over the Sharks
  • Jets Money Line (+114) over the Flames

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. The Rangers/Capitals game will be electric after the antics of Tom Wilson on Monday. That is going to be a must watch game. The Wild/Golden Knights game will also be must watch as 2 of the best teams in the West and coming off a 6-5 game on Monday as well. Let’s see if we can find some value on those games.

My Picks

Jets ML (+108): The Jets have been trending a little down lately, especially with the injury to Ehlers. They are on a 7 game losing streak and are in a battle with Montreal for 3rd/4th place where the 4th place team will get the Leafs. The Flames are all but eliminated and don’t have much left to play for. I see Winnipeg coming out strong tonight to try and build some momentum for a playoff run. At plus money this provides some value and Winnipeg has a good ML edge this year over Calgary.

Golden Knights ML (-115): Minnesota has had Vegas’s number this year for whatever reason. Vegas was coming off a 10-game win streak but have gone 1-2 in their last 3. Minnesota has beat Vegas in 5 of 7 matchups this season. It looks like Fluery will be in net for Vegas who is playing better than Lehner right now. Vegas is also decent on the road this year with elite offense and goaltending. This price is a slight discount considering Minnesota is also good at home and had Vegas’s number, but we like a regression to the mean and a Vegas win tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 5/4

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 5/4. The Model had a rough go of it last night going 1-3. We are officially at that time of the year when it is nearly impossible to evaluate teams with about a week and a half left until playoffs. Some teams have thrown in the towel, some teams are resting players for playoffs, and other teams are still grinding trying to earn a spot for next season. I think the strategy is to temper expectations and not go crazy until playoffs. With that being said there will still be 1-2 picks per day, but nothing I would throw the hammer on unless otherwise stated.

We have 5 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Penguins Money Line (-175) over the Flyers
  • Flyers/Penguins Over (6.5, -103)
  • Bruins Money Line (-240) over the Devils
  • Islanders Money Line (-275) and Puck Line (-1.5, +100) over the Sabres
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-240) over the Blackhawks
  • Oilers Puck Line (-1.5, +130) and Money Line (-195) over the Canucks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Islanders -1.5 (+120): Just 1 play today. The Islanders are actually pretty bad at covering the -1.5 this season, and they did just lose 4-2 to the Sabres last night. The good news? They are pretty good at covering against those same Sabres. They have covered the -1.5 in 13 games this season out of 36 games where they were favored. The Sabres consisted of 7 of those games and the Islanders covered in 5 of them. I like them to bounce back tonight and cover.

NHL Betting Picks Monday 5/3

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 5/3. The Model took a break yesterday as there was only 1 game played with the Lightning beating the Red Wings 2-1. No value considering the Lightning were around a -300 favorite after losing to the Red Wings on Friday. The good news in the NHL blessed us with a monster Monday slate of games.

We have 14 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Capitals Money Line (-115) over the Rangers
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -250) over the Capitals
  • Maple Leafs Money Line (-159) over the Canadiens
  • Predators Money Line (-182) over the Blue Jackets
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-240) over the Blackhawks
  • Penguins Money Line (-175) over the Flyers
  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +106) and Money Line (-245) over the Sabres
  • Bruins Money Line (-240) over the Devils
  • Panthers Money Line (-129) over the Stars
  • Ducks Puck Line (+1.5, -121) over the Blues
  • Golden Knights/Wild Over (5.5, -112)
  • Oilers Puck Line (-1.5, +123) over the Canucks
  • Oilers/Canucks Under (5.5, +104)
  • Avalanches Money Line (-265) over the Sharks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Senators/Jets Over 5.5 (-130): These two teams both have pretty sub-par defenses. The Sens give up 3.47 goals/game while the Jets allow 2.86. The good news is we are getting the Jets backup goalie Brossoit tonight, which is huge considering Hellebuyck is one of the best goalies in the league. The over is 4-3 in 7 matchups this season and both teams slightly rested with below averages goaltenders in net makes me love this over.

Kings/Coyotes Over 5.5 (+115): We are back on the plus money over. This one on the surface might seem like a stretch but the underlying numbers are there for us. Both teams are over 50% in their over win percentage this season. The Coyotes average 5.5 goals/game and the Kings are slightly below them at 5.65. They are 3-3 on the over this season in 6 matchups so seems like a coin flip, maybe even a little favorable for the over. So the plus money is what puts this play in range today.

Oilers -1.5 (+128): The Canucks looked like they had some life after coming off COVID and winning 2 straight against the Maple Leafs. They have gone 1-5 since and have not looked particularly good. The Oilers are 5-2 in their last 7 games and have been a very good -1.5 team this season (47% top 5 in the NHL). The Canucks are below average on +1.5 and with McDavid and Draisaitl rolling we like this play with the plus money tonight.

Penguins -1 (-112): The Flyers season is over and Carter Hart is done for the year, not that he has been good. The Penguins are fighting to get that top spot in the East and have been playing well even without Malkin. Since we have a monster slate I felt a need to find a 4th play and this one seems like a very solid play for good value. Teams trending in the opposite directions, look for Pittsburgh to run over their state rival.

NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/1

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Saturday 5/1. The Model went 0-2 last night. It happens, there were only 4 games on the slate. The Jets were up 2-0 and 3-1 before ultimately losing 5-3. They had the game and just collapsed down the stretch. The over in the Knights/Yotes never stood a chance with Vegas getting shutout by Arizona. Quite a surprise for one of the best scoring teams in the league. But that is hockey sometimes, the good value doesn’t always play out. On to Saturday and the biggest slate of the year.

We have 15 (!!) games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Bruins Puck Line (-1.5, -136) and Money Line (-335) over the Sabres
  • Senators Money Line (+160) over the Canadiens
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -225) over the Islanders
  • Rangers/Islanders Under (5.5, -134)
  • Flyers/Devils Over (6.5, +102)
  • Hurricanes Puck Line (-1.5, -125) and Money Line (-335) over the Blue Jackets
  • Avalanche Money Line (-295) over the Sharks
  • Panthers Money Line (-157) over the Blackhawks
  • Predators Money Line (-115) over the Stars
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +180) over the Blues
  • Oilers Money Line (-124) over the Flames
  • Oilers/Flames Under (6, -114)
  • Kings Money Line (-129) over the Ducks
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-200) over the Coyotes

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Senators ML (+160): The Senators have had the Canadiens number this season for whatever reason winning 5 of 8 meetings. The Canadiens played last night against Winnipeg (bad rest spot) and might look to Primeau in net tonight. The Habs are also likely without Shea Weber. The Sens are also profitable on the ML this season (+1.4u) and the Canadiens are not profitable (-9.6u). This is a good value play on a big slate tonight where there isn’t too much value.

Wild -1.5 (+180): The Wild are due to beat the Blues on the puck line. They haven’t their last two meetings which means third time is a charm. We are getting better value each game (+160 first game, +170 last game). I didn’t take it the second game but now that it didn’t hit then I love it even more. Same logic as the previous article, with even more value. They played well in both games just got themselves in a hole early. If they avoid that they should roll tonight.

Golden Knights -1.5 (+132): Vegas finally lost a game with Arizona snapping their 11 game winning streak last night. All good things must come to an end. The good news is the market has over-adjusted too much for that and I see some good value on Vegas puck line tonight. Vegas is one of the best -1.5 teams in the league and the Yotes are one of the worst +1.5 teams in the league. At plus money we are riding this one tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/30

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 4/30. The Model went 1-1 last night. An easy over cover in the Penguins/Flyers game, I still can’t believe it was only 5.5. Should have hammered that one. Then the Wild looked terrible to start going down 3-0, had a great comeback and tied it 4-4 to push the game to OT, but then the Blues sniped the dagger. St. Louis is on a little bit of a roll right now, will be interesting to see them ride this into the playoffs. On to Friday’s games.

We have 4 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Jets Money Line (+108) over the Canadiens
  • Sharks Puck Line (+1.5, +104) over the Avalanche
  • Avalanche Money Line (-305) over the Sharks
  • Kings Money Line (-126) over the Ducks
  • Golden Knights Puck Line (-1.5, +123) and Money Line (-205) over the Coyotes
  • Golden Knights/Coyotes Over (5.5, +100)

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. It looks as if Philip Grubauer will be making his return after being on the COVID list, which is great news for the Avs. Always need to watch out for rust if a goalie spends more than a couple weeks out of action, but he has been great all season so far.

My Picks

Jets ML (+108): This is a crucial game for both teams involved in terms of seeding for the playoffs. Both teams are coming off a loss. The Jets are one of the best teams on the road this year while the Canadiens are one of the worst at home. It feels like a true toss-up, maybe even slight lean in Winnipeg’s favor. Since we can get plus money on them this seems like a no brainer.

Golden Knights/Coyotes Over 5.5 (+100): These are two of the best teams on the over this year, with both being over 50%. In their 6 matchups this year over 5.5 would be 4-2. Both teams average more than 5.5 goals/game. The only concerning part is their 2 losses on the over were 1-0 games, but the Yotes have been at least getting a couple goals lately which is all we need from them. Vegas has one of the best offenses in the league and we will be riding them to the promised land.

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 4/29

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 4/29. The Model had another positive night going 2-1. The only loss was the Wild -1.5 which was our calculated risk play at +172. They held 2-0 and 3-1 leads before ultimately losing 4-3. They run it back again tonight, will I take it again? The Golden Knights looked great against the Avs and then the Sharks/Coyotes played a 4-2 game which hit our over of 5.5. Although, it was 3-1 at the end of 1 so they made us sweat it only getting to 6 goals. We take our 2-1 night and move on to Thursday.

We have 10 games on the NHL slate tonight. Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

Dashboard 1

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Lightning Money Line (-162) over the Stars
  • Rangers Puck Line (-1.5, +220) over the Islanders
  • Bruins Money Line (-400) over the Sabres
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-400) over the Red Wings
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +170) and Money Line (-148) over the Blues
  • Panthers Money Line (-162) over the Blackhawks
  • Oilers Puck Line (-1.5, +175) and Money Line (-141) over the Flames

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Penguins/Capitals Over 5.5 (-115): Honestly shocked this over/under was 5.5, could be attributed to Ovechkin or their recent forms. However the Pens came off games against the Bruins (stingy defense) and the Caps with the Isles (also stingy defense). There are other overs at 5.5 with more juice and I like this one the most of them all. The Caps are 2nd in the league on overs and average 6.43 total goals/game. The Pens are no slouches either averaging 6.16 total goals/game. Both teams over win % increases in their current environment tonight, so we are riding this one.

Wild ML (-135): Same logic as yesterday, but a little more conservative just rolling with the money line tonight. I’ve seen this line as high as -158 so I really like the value I am getting here at -135. The Wild were the better team yesterday and gave up a couple stupid goals. Dead even in Corsi and Fenwick in their game yesterday, the Wild had a 61% Scoring Chance percentage and led in Expected Goals 2.53 – 1.58. I like them to win this back-to-back, would be even better if we got Husso in net for STL, although with the Blues in a playoff push I assume they will ride Bing again tonight.
