*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

3/21 NHL Bets

Detroit Red Wings ML (-112) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

Listing this bet really kills me, but you have to be objective and emotionless if you want to get ahead and make money in the betting game. The Islanders could not be any worse at the moment. They had won six straight games to put themselves into one of the final playoff spots before conceding all of that ground back after losing five straight games. It must be noted that only one of those five losses was even close. Otherwise, they were shut out by the Sabres and Kings 3-0 and 4-0 and smoked by the Rangers and Hurricanes 5-2, and 4-1. They’ve totaled only six goals in their last five games; rough.

Detroit hasn’t been all that much better recently as they are 2-8 over their last ten games. However, both of those wins have come in the last three games. They have also scored at least three goals in each of those three games. Furthermore, these are two teams with defined home and road splits. The Islanders are far worse on the road (14-15-1) than at home (15-19-10) so at a minimum can take games to overtime more frequently with the crowd support. Meanwhile, the Red Wings are 20-11-5 at home and 15-17-1 away.

These odds initially struck me as if this game was in New York. My expectation is that there will be more separation and Detroit odds will be much shorter by game time. On FanDuel, the Red Wings are already at -120. Particularly if Dylan Larkin makes his return. As an Islanders fan, I just have to keep it real.

Winnipeg Jets ML (-120) – FanDuel 1 Unit

This is a tale as old as time of two teams heading in opposite directions. The Jets are 7-3 over their last ten games and the Devils are the opposite at 3-7. While Winnipeg is trending up for the playoffs, it will be a letdown year for New Jersey after last year’s playoff appearance and the promise that displayed.

The Jets absolutely smashed the Devils both times they have met this season, dropping six goals against New Jersey in both of those games. Both teams have performed about the same record wise away and at home. Overall, they have won five of their last seven against New Jersey, flexing some dominance.

Winnipeg’s defense has been the best in the NHL this season and should be the difference here. The Devils have scored only one goal in three of their last five games. New Jersey has already sold off and should be the less motivated of these two teams.

At the moment, FanDuel is giving us the best odds on the Jets of any of the major sportsbooks by a slim margin.

3/14 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

3/14 NHL Bets

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. San Jose Sharks U 6.5 (-138) – FanDuel – 1 Unit

Pittsburgh comes in on an absolutely brutal four game losing streak. That stretch includes some real buttreamings such as a 5-0 loss to the Oilers, 6-0 loss to the Capitals and a 5-1 loss to the Bruins. They have scored only two goals in those four games and yes that’s no typo.

Nevertheless, tonight the Penguins are a heavy -278 favorite. You are only measured against your competition or at least they say. Tonight, that competition is the worst team in hockey, the San Jose Sharks. San Jose certainly hasn’t been high flying either scoring five total goals over their last three games. The Sharks are 1-7-2 over their last ten games and as sellers certainly don’t expect to improve post-trade deadline.

It takes a bit of sportsbook shopping, but we can still find this set to 6.5 on FanDuel as opposed to 6 on every other major book. Let’s lock that in before it moves.

Vegas ML (-135) – 0.5 Units, Vegas 60 Min ML (+115) – 0.25 Units, Vegas -1.5 – (+180) 0.25 Units – DraftKings

This seems like a good game to run a ladder of sorts. The Golden Knights look like they are starting to turn things around just in time for the playoffs. Vegas has scored five goals in consecutive games. Their issues have mainly been on the defensive end but that should not be a major issue tonight.

Fresh off getting smashed by Colorado, Calgary has dropped three straight games heading into this one. Across that span they have only scored five total goals. Now it is fair to say those games were against top level competition (Panthers, Avalanche, Hurricanes). However, they have been held to two goals or fewer in four of their last five. Furthermore, Flames goaltender Dan Vladar is coming off back-to-back games where he gave up at least six goals. So, it’s not like Calgary has been making up for things on the defensive end.

Don’t forget these are the defending champs and for their relatively short time as a franchise, they tend to do their best work this time of year. Calgary has been mediocre at home this season (16-15-1) and after tonight, will have a losing home record.

3/13 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

3/13 NHL Bets

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (-110) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

Edmonton let us down against the Blue Jackets last week but it’s back to the well here. This Washington team has done a tremendous job getting back into the playoff hunt seemingly out of nowhere. However, now they are on a west coast road trip that did not start very well in Winnipeg where they lost 3-0.

After a pair of disappointing losses against Columbus and Buffalo, the Oilers bounced back in a big way with a 4-0 win against Pittsburgh. Overall, they’ve won six out of their last eight games and face a team in the Capitals with poor underlying metrics. Washington ranks towards the bottom of NHL in several offensive categories and Edmonton has been stingy this year only allowing 2.84 goals per game.

The Capitals have very pronounced home/road splits as they are 17-10-5 at home and 13-14-4 away. Similarly, the Oilers are 20-8-2 at home and 19-13-1 away. Don’t let the record fool you, Washington has a -27 point differential on the season whereas Edmonton is +42. It was a nice run for the Capitals as of late to get back to relevancy but we’re going double or nothing on the Oilers covering the spread!

Colorado ML (-105) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

The Avalanche come in on the second night of a road back-to-back. For as good as the Avalanche have been in past seasons, the Canucks have been the better of the two teams this year. However, Colorado has turned it up as of late, winners of three straight and 7-2-1 over their last ten games. Two of their recent wins came against the Blackhawks and one was against the struggling Red Wings. However, you still have to admire the fact that they are pummeling some of these teams. As we speak, they’re smashing the Flames 6-2.

Vancouver comes in to this one in phenomenal form, winners of four straight including their latest victory 5-0 over Winnipeg. That’s the sort of win that sends a message. Their last three wins come against Winnipeg, Vegas, and the Kings, all potential Western Conference playoff foes. That said their underlying metrics suggest there has been a good deal of luck. Also, they have no doubt been beneficiaries of Thatcher Demko’s strong play in net.

There’s no way around the fact that losing Demko for an indefinite stretch of time will hurt. Casey DeSmith has been no slouch with a record of 8-4-5 to go along with a 2.85 GAA and .900 SV%. That said he has not been as good as of late and this is the sort of matchup that you need your goalie to bring their A game. Colorado has won the prior two games between these teams this season and should make it three straight wins over Vancouver.

3/7 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

3/7 NHL Bets

Edmonton -1.5 (-112) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

The Oilers have been on a torrid stretch as of late with a 7-2-1 record over their last ten games. This stretch includes five straight wins. The Blue Jackets meanwhile haven’t been at their absolute worst going 5-5 over their last ten games. Over the course of the season, they have not been any better at home than on the road.

It’s hard to imagine Columbus keeps up here. The Blue Jackets are allowing 3.66 goals per game this season and that’s not a good omen for facing Edmonton. This includes eight goals in the last two games as the defense continues to be atrocious. Meanwhile the Oilers average 3.53 goal per game and remain one of the highest scoring offenses in the league.

Young Jet Greaves is projected to start in net for Columbus. He has lost 2 of his 3 career starts but it looks like that is about to become 3 of 4. In a nutshell, this is a mismatch and Edmonton should increase their win streak to six and cover the puck line.

Florida 60 Min ML (-135) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

The Flyers have had a much better season than expected as Coach Torts has held bring in a system and some order. However, they have been crashing as of late. Philadelphia comes in 4-4-2 over their last ten games. Strangely, despite holding a playoff spot at the moment, they have been a seller at the trade deadline. Sean Walker was the most recent player to be dealt away.

Florida is headed in an entirely different direction. The Panthers are winners of six straight and 9-1 over their last ten games. The home crowd should be pumped to welcome new addition Vladimir Tarasenko.

Offense has been a problem even when the Flyers were winning games as they have averaged 2.95 goals per game. However replete with injuries and all, their typical defensive style won’t get the job done here. Expect Florida to get the job done in 60 minutes.

Vancouver ML (-105) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

Vegas is really struggling heading into this game, losers of three straight games. Over their last ten games, they are 2-7-1. The Golden Knights scored three goals in the last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but the defense gave up six goals and that led to the defeat. The Golden Knights are averaging 3.18 goals while their defense is giving up 2.95 goals per game.

This has been the Canuck’s best year in a quite awhile and they have kept things rolling. Vancouver has won two straight and have been strong on the road as well with a 20-11-4 record. Expect them to pick up a win in a tough place to play against a Vegas team that seems withdrawn after winning a championship.

3/6 NHL Bets

Buffalo (+160) – DraftKings – 0.66 Units

It’s a three-game slate so I am only going to throw out one bet tonight, let’s make it a good one. We can be boring and aim for a Maple Leafs puck line and call it a night. That would make for your usual piece of crap standard industry NHL betting article. However, I think especially on such a small slate we can be a little bit spicier, and I don’t think Toronto is the right play.

Buffalo has a strong recent history against Toronto, where they have won twice this season. Over the last 10 games between these teams, Buffalo is 7-3-0. The Sabres are also in very strong form at the moment as they have won five of their last seven games. That stretch involved some very strong competition as well, such as Winnipeg, Vegas, Florida, Tampa Bay, and Carolina.

Ironically, the Sabres have been better on the road this season (15-12-3) then at home (14-17-1). Toronto has also been much better away this season (18-6-6) than at home (17-12-2). There’s not much upside or point in taking Buffalo on the +1.5 puck line here at -155. The last time these teams faced off Buffalo smashed the Leafs 9-3 and perhaps they simply have their number. Let’s take a break from all of the Auston Matthews and Maple Leaf’s love and go with the upset.

2/29 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

2/29 NHL Bets

Auston Matthews to Score a Goal (-130) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

It’s an extremely large slate but there is no reason to overthink things here. Toronto is a heavy -250 favorite hosting the hapless Coyotes. Arizona will enter this one as losers of thirteen straight games which is the worst such streak in the NHL at the moment. That awful stretch includes a 6-3 beatdown from Toronto in the desert last week where our puck line bet cashed.

In the course of that aforementioned beatdown Auston Matthews scored twice. He has 52 goals in 57 games this season and this is a good spot to add to that tally. And of course, if there was anything else that needed to be added, there is the whole Arizona native narrative.

Carolina/Columbus – U 6.5 (-110) – Bet MGM – 1 Unit

Sometimes you’re just looking for things that seem inappropriately capped and this total should be set at six. We have Columbus coming in on the second night of a back-to-back after a disappointing loss to the Rangers. The Blue Jackets kept it close until late in the third period and will have to find some new energy.

Carolina of course is predicated on their defense. The Hurricanes are 32-26-1 on the under this season. Their last four game totals have gone under entering tonight.

Furthermore, the under has hit in four of their last six meetings against Columbus. The Blue Jackets have been able to improve their defense with only eight goals in their last three games combined prior to falling apart at the end of last’s night’s game. Due to their lack of offense their games have also gone under in four of their last five outings.

I think by the time gametime rolls around this total will be set at six on most of the major betting sites so let’s grab this now. Columbus has not been generating a lot of offense, Carolina has been limiting offense. Overall, this has all the makings of a very slow paced, low-scoring affair.

Anaheim Ducks ML (-120) – Bet MGM – 0.5 Units

You won’t see the Ducks listed too often. However, you’re only as good as your competition and tonight that’s San Jose. When compared to the Sharks -102 point differential on the season, the Ducks -56 doesn’t seem so bad. Both teams come into this game on losing streaks. It’s been three straight losses for the Ducks and four straight losses for the Sharks.

San Jose is dealing with a host of injuries at the moment such as Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Upper Body (Questionable), Matt Benning: Lower Body (Out), Tomas Hertl: Lower Body (Out), Mackenzie Blackwood: Undisclosed (Questionable), Logan Couture: Groin (Out). The list above includes many of their few good/decent players such as Hertl and Couture. It’s hard to be very competitive under these circumstances when your team is already really bad.

Anaheim has won seven of the last 10 meetings between these teams. They are also the more talented of these two teams. I will scale down from the other two bets for a half-unit here. That said with the odds this close, it is worth throwing a little something on this late-night hammer bet.

Welcome back to NHL Top Bets for a ten-game Thursday slate. Last night, we had a clean sweep on all four bets and didn’t even break a sweat, so let’s bring it back tonight. The people made it known they wanted expanded NHL betting content, Win Daily listened and we have you covered below.

2/22 NHL Bets

New York Rangers ML (+100) – FanDuel – 1 Unit

This pick makes me want to throw up giving what they did to the Islanders in the Winter Classic. However, I have to make my picks with my brain and not my feelings. There’s no question that the Rangers have been on fire as of late, winners of eight straight. They are one of the few teams vying to be the leader in the Eastern Conference. The turnaround of the defense this year has been the story and has elevated them to another level.

Meanwhile, the Devils seem to have taken a step back. They find themselves fighting for a wild card spot after such a strong season last year. Right now, they are in middling form, going 4-5-1 over their last ten games. Unlike the Rangers, they have not been very good defensively. Their 191 goals allowed is fourth worst in the Eastern Conference and keeping up that pace will not help their playoff push.

This game is pretty much even money as of the time of writing with the Rangers the slightest of road underdogs. I’m no Nostradamus but barring some sudden injuries or something I think this will shift by gametime and the Rangers will at least be dead even odds wise at -110 on most books, if not favored outright. Let’s grab this at the current odds.

Detroit Red Wings ML (+124)DraftKings – 0.5 Units

I was sort of struggling to find a second bet I liked tonight outside of the Rangers, despite the size of the slate. That said, the Avalanche haven’t been playing their best hockey as of late. While their 5-4-1 record over their last ten games seems respectable enough on the surface, almost all of the wins have come against subpar teams.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings are 6-3-1 over their last ten games and come in at plus money at home. They have had very defined home/road splits this season (15-8-5 at home) and (14-12-1 away). Unlike Colorado, they have been playing some of the best teams in the NHL as of late. In their last thirteen games the softest teams they have faced are the Senators, Flames “5-0 win”, and Kraken so not even anyone bottom barrel. Otherwise, during that span they have had to face the Canucks (2x), Oilers, Golden Knights, Flyers, Stars, Lightning, Hurricanes, Panthers, Toronto. What a murderer’s row.

You can see why I figure at the plus odds let’s roll with the Red Wings. There’s no value on the +1.5 puck line at -192 but we also don’t have to take a 60-minute line here either.

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

2/21 NHL Bets

Buffalo Sabres ML (-130) – DraftKings – 1 Unit

These two teams are tied in the standings with 52 points apiece. However, the point differentials illustrate a much different story. The Sabres stand at -9 this season whereas Montreal is at -41 “which is good for worst in the Eastern Conference”. While neither team has been tearing things up, it is clear one is better than the other.

The Canadiens come into this having already begun their selloff as Sean Monahan has departed for sunnier pastures in Winnipeg. This certainly hasn’t helped matters for Montreal and one would assume that the team morale is low. That said, the defense has long been struggling before any fire sale, with the Canadiens giving up 3.53 goals per game this season.

Buffalo has a winning record on the road this season (12-11-3). Funny enough that is better than the Canadiens record at home (11-15-3). Furthermore, the Sabres have won three of the last four games played between these teams in Montreal. While they are no world beaters by any measure, they can be considered a much better team in relation to their competition.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Under 6 (-120)Bet MGM – 1 Unit

This game looks like a slow, boring one. We have the Flyers who are having a turnaround season under Torts winning games with strong defense and limited offense. They haven’t had a total under six in their last three games but also have been placing with the pace up against teams like the Maple Leafs and Devils. That sort of matchup will not be the case tonight.

Philly is a heavy -198 road favorite against doormat Chicago. The Flyers rank 23rd or lower in goals scored per game, power play percentage and shooting percentage. With that said, expect them to try to win out in grind them out defensive fashion which should be doable given the Blackhawks limited offense.

Let’s move on the Blackhawks; there is not much to say about them when using them for an under. Conor Bedard is back but that eighteen-year-old boy cannot change such a high level of dysfunctionality by his lonesome. Chicago has scored just 23 goals over their past 16 games, and one or fewer goals in 12 of their past 21 games. This includes five or fewer total goals scored in 13 of those 21 games.

Toronto Maple Leafs 60 Min Line (-120)DraftKings – 0.5 Units

Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5 (+120) – DraftKings – 0.5 Units

I’m not going to go crazy over the stats as this is certainly a clear mismatch and I’m not sure that has to be established much. However, given the discount to -120 on the 60 Min Line as opposed to -218 on the primary money line for Toronto, I just want to be all over that. DraftKings is giving us all around better odds on the Maple Leafs 60 min line and puck line than any other big site.

Toronto is 8-2-0 over its last ten games. They will likely dole out a punishment tonight to the struggling Coyotes. Auston Matthews couldn’t be in better form at the moment, so it is a great time for his yearly homecoming. Arizona comes in losers of TEN STRAIGHT. Good lord, that is horrible. I generally hate puck lines, but I have to incorporate at least a partial one here as to split the unit.

Personal Betting Record/Tracker

2/15 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

2/15 NHL Bet

Jack Hughes 4+ SOG (-130) – FanDuel – 0.5 Units

Hughes has been rolling as of late. He has also hit this mark in four straight games (6, 7, 7, 4). Furthermore, Hughes has been particularly strong at home. Over his last ten games at home, he has averaged 4.1 shots on goal. When Hughes plays twenty plus minutes on the ice at home, he’s averaging 5.2 shots on goal. Tonight, the Devils are hosting the Kings in one of the 6.5 projected total games so the pace of the game should bode well for him.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Under 5.5 (100)FanDuel – 1 Unit

Last night our Panthers/Penguins under bets on the total were the only bets which fell short. However, that was not because of anything Pittsburgh did as they lost 7-2. This offense continues to struggle and tonight they are facing a team that is the anthesis of Florida in the form of the Blackhawks.

Not much needs to be said about Chicago here. They have lost seven straight games scoring a total of eight goals during that span. Prior to that other than a 4-3 win over the Islanders, in the five preceding games they had scored a total of four goals. This team was already really bad but ultimately the loss of Conor Bedard turned them into a royal mess.

As far as the Penguins go, prior to last night, seven of Pittsburgh’s last ten games had gone under six. They are also continuing to average under three goals and game and of course they’re a big home favorite (-205) in this one. However, they are on the second night of a back-to-back. Without offensive firepower on the other side, I simply see this as a pretty boring, low-scoring game with few highlights to speak of. If I had to speculate, Pittsburgh wins 2-1 or 3-2.

2/14 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

2/14 NHL Bet

Florida Panthers ML (-120) – Bet MGM – 0.5 Units

Florida Panthers/Pittsburgh Penguins Under 6.5 (-138) – FanDuel – 0.5 Units, Under 6 (-110) Bet MGM – 0.5 Units

These are two teams simply headed in opposite directions. Pittsburgh has lost seven of their last ten games, while the Panthers are 6-2-2 across that same span, with wins in six of their last seven. The Cats have been winning in low scoring fashion with the totals going under six in five of those seven games.

Florida’s fine defensive form does not bode well for Pittsburgh. The once vaunted Penguins offense has been struggling all season, but particularly of late. The Panthers only allow 2.50 goals per game and should limit the Penguins offense, which only averages 2.90 goals per game. Pittsburgh’s games have gone under a six total in a whopping eight of their last nine games.

The Penguins have lost three straight games against the Panthers. The Panthers have won nine of their last 10 games on the road. That streak includes eight consecutive road wins. So along with the under let’s throw a small “pizza bet” on the Panthers to come through visiting Pittsburgh. However, most of our money will go on the Under which you should be sure to shop around for on your local books.

Minnesota Wild ML (-118)FanDuel – 1 Unit

Speaking of teams headed in opposite directions, the Coyotes have been really sliding as of late. Arizona has dropped six straight games while the Wild come in winners of three straight. Minnesota has also won seven of their last ten games. These teams are fairly close in the standings due to hotter start to the year than expected for Arizona and a sluggish start to the season for the Wild. However, that is likely about to continue to change over the next few weeks.

It must be noted that the Coyotes have at least kept things close during their last three games/losses. We probably don’t want to try to mess with any spreads here. However, the -118 Minnesota money line at the moment is more than generous enough considering the talent disparity and difference in recent form between these two teams.

Connor Ingram is projected to start in goal for Arizona as of the time of writing. He has been absolutely terrible as of late with a 5.26 GAA and an .857 save across the Coyotes’ recent skid. This definitely doesn’t feel like a get right spot for him. Minnesota simply has too much skill and well they have been underwhelming for the most part, the gears are finally clicking for them. A few weeks ago, the Wild suffered an embarrassing 6-0 loss to Arizona. Expect them to get some revenge as they try to make a playoff push.
