Los Angeles Lakers

After numerous NBA teams kicked off their season yesterday, we have a mere four squads in action tonight. However, the stars are plentiful and two marquee matchups await us. Two perennial MVP candidates face off in a battle of two Eastern Conference powerhouses, while the battle of LA closes out the slate. It’s a Thirsty Thursday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

As previously mentioned in articles and in Discord, the rate at which news breaks in the NBA is unlike any other sport. This not only makes every slate different, but it emphasizes how crucial it is to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups. Be sure to join the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need to win NBA DFS tournaments.

Milwaukee Bucks @ Philadelphia 76ers (-4)

Milwaukee Bucks (+4)

With Khris Middleton (wrist) ruled out for the first few weeks of the NBA season, Giannis Antetokounmpo will have to carry this Bucks offense. In addition, not only is Donte DiVincenzo now in Golden State, but Pat Connaughton (calf) is also missing for the opening month of action. The Bucks are suddenly thin on offense, and it will be up to Giannis and Jrue Holiday to carry the load. The former ended last season with a 29.9/11.6/5.8 scoring line on 55.3% shooting while leading his team with a 34.6% usage rate. Tonight, at the top of the pricing grid, he is far and away the premier option.

Philadelphia 76ers (-4)

Despite James Harden stealing the show in a season opening loss for the 76ers, it was Joel Embiid who saw the most action on offense, as he did for the majority of last year’s NBA season. Pacing his squad with a 33% usage rate, Embiid failed to take advantage of early foul trouble for Al Horford and Noah Vonleh, but still led the team in field goal attempts and rebounds, while also getting to the charity stripe nine times.

Debating between the two Philadelphia stars tonight is an issue given their individual matchups. Embiid has to deal with Giannis and Lopez in the paint, while Harden sees a far more elite defender in Holiday than he did on opening night in Marcus Smart. Thus, I’ll be going back to the well with Tyrese Maxey. Despite a slow start, Maxey scored 21 points on 50% shooting, where 15 of his 21 points came in the second and fourth quarters. Not only did he play every second of those frames, but he was the go-to option on offense. Lining up against the likes of Wes Matthews and Grayson Allen, Maxey is one of the best Point/$ options on tonight’s NBA slate, let alone this Philadelphia offense.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Los Angeles Lakers (+5.5)

LA Clippers (-5.5)

The return of Kawhi Leonard is one of the best storylines this NBA season has to offer. After missing all of last year, Leonard looks to form a formidable duo with Paul George in the quest for a championship. Despite 2016-2017 being the last time he played over 70 games, Kawhi remains a top 10 talent in this league. In over 100 games played, Leonard sports a 30.8% usage rate during his Clippers tenure, averaging a 26/6/5.8 scoring line. Unless he is on a hard minutes limit, both he and George make for excellent tournament plays.

LA Lakers (+5.5)

We can talk about Russell Westbrook and the Lakers’ shooting woes all we want, but truthfully, that isn’t where the issue lies. Yes, the Lakers shot an abysmal 10-for-40 from behind the arc on opening night, but it was Anthony Davis’ lack of aggressiveness in the paint the caught my eye. Despite playing against much weaker and smaller big men in the paint, Davis grabbed a mere six rebounds, while LeBron took down fifteen. Finishing second on the Lakers with 22 field goal attempts, in addition to nine free throws, Davis has the ceiling to be an elite target on any NBA slate, but remains to regain true form.

Firstly, the trio of Laker guards is a question mark tonight, as is what to do with LeBron James. You simply cannot fit James while playing one of George or Leonard alongside Giannis, so a decision has to be made. The public can say what they want about Westbrook, but he was efficient on opening night, dropping 19/11/3 on only twelve shots. He was pushing the pace and attacking the glass for rebounds. Kendrick Nunn remains an x-factor on offense in a supporting role off the bench, but his shot needs to drop for him to produce in NBA DFS. Lastly, Patrick Beverley will always be a wild card given his tenacity, but a game environment like this screams decent production. The usage will be modest throughout the season, but if he can stay out of foul trouble, the assists and rebounds will be there.

It’s finally time – the NBA season has arrived. After an offseason filled with player movement, intriguing storylines, and turmoil amongst some of the league’s best teams, the quest for an NBA championship begins tonight. Opening Day in the NBA is one of the biggest nights of the season, and tonight’s marquee matchups certainly aren’t short of storylines.

If it is your first NBA season with us, you’re in for a lot of content. Including both written and video, articles will be posted daily Monday through Friday, while shows will be aired across all platforms. The daily articles will provide an insight into the slate; identifying the right game environments are imperative to success, along with individual players and matchups. Our analysis is unlike any other, and you are given all the information you need. Amongst that is our list of tools available. Our infamous proprietary NBA projections, a cheat sheet, and content in both written and video formats are key to success. You will not only hear myself talk about the projections a ton, but the members as well. I firmly believe we have the best NBA projections across the industry, and now, so do you.

Tonight, LeBron and AD take on the defending Champions on their ring night, while Joel Embiid and the 76ers take on Jayson Tatum and the Celtics. We have to get creative to get to the top of the leaderboards on any two-game NBA slate, and that is exactly what we will do. For the first time this season: it’s a Taco Tuesday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Boston Celtics (-3.5)

Despite having two of the best rosters in the Eastern Conference last season, both the 76ers and Celtics still had overhauls to their respective rotations. These two teams have some of the best stars in the NBA, but their benches needed reinforcements. The Celtics brought in Danilo Gallinari, only to likely lose him for the season to a torn ACL. Later, Boston replaced Gallinari’s spot in the rotation by signing Blake Griffin. However, the most notable addition came in the form of a true ball handler: Malcolm Brogdon. The former Virginia standout will not only alleviate pressure off of Tatum, Brown, and Smart, but also provide the Celtics with a formidable backcourt defense in closeout minutes.

On the flipside, Philadelphia made moves of their own. In are P.J. Tucker, De’Anthony Melton, and Montrezl Harrell, while Danny Green has been traded to the Grizzlies. Harrell will remain a defensive liability, but provides offensive upside to a bench unit operating without Embiid. Moreover, Tucker brings grit and defensive stability, alleviating pressure on Tobias Harris. Lastly, Melton gives the 76ers another ball handler to lead the bench unit, giving more freedom to Harden and Maxey in the starting 5.

Boston Celtics (-3.5)

Pacing the Celtics once again this NBA season is none other than Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The formidable duo led the team in scoring at 26.9 and 23.6 PPG, respectively. They were also the lone players to register usage rates over 23%, leading the team at 32% and 30.4%, respectively. While Tatum has done well in this matchup in the past, the addition of P.J. Tucker complicates things on an NBA slate where DFS studs are plentiful. If you are looking to get three studs in your lineups, Brown would likely be the third, but I personally cannot get there with comfort.

Thus, I’ll be turning to the Celtics bench for exposure to this offense. I already discussed Malcolm Brogdon in the section above, and he’s certainly in play on this opening NBA slate. In the absence of Robert Williams III, expect Boston to go smaller to avoid burning out veterans Blake Griffin and Al Horford. With an anticipated closing lineup of Brogdon, Smart, Brown, Tatum, and Horford, Brogdon has opportunity right away with the potential for a 20/5/5 game. As I alluded to above, Robert Williams III is out for the next 6-8 weeks. As a result, Grant Williams and Al Horford will see an increase in minutes in the frontcourt. However, smaller lineups will benefit Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White.

Philadelphia 76ers (+3.5)

The core of the 76ers is back and they have the reinforcements to make a serious run at an NBA championship this season. MVP candidate Joel Embiid is fresh off a scoring title, where he posted 30.6 PPG on a 50/37/81 split. Not only did he lead the league in scoring, but Embiid also paced his peers in usage rate. Eclipsing 37% last season, right ahead of Luka Doncic, Embiid is primed for another stellar campaign. Tonight, in a matchup where NBA All-Defensive counterpart Robert Williams III is absent, my NBA lineups start with The Process.

A glaring misprice on this NBA slate, Tyrese Maxey will be one of the most rostered players in the field. Entering his third year in the league, Maxey has quickly become a fan favorite in the City of Brotherly Love. In his sophomore season, Maxey saw his minutes increase by 20 per night, logging over 35 minutes per contest. Acting as a secondary ball handler to James Harden, the upside is there for him to capitalize on offense while his backcourt teammate draws coverage from reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Marcus Smart. By locking in Joel Embiid and needing his DFS ceiling, my 76ers exposure ends with these two, but can’t fault you for looking at Harden, Harris, and Melton.

LA Lakers @ Golden State Warriors (-6.5)

LeBron James versus Steph Curry on Opening Day is exactly what NBA fans are excited about. This game certainly won’t be short on star power, and we are in for a treat after the Warriors dynasty celebrates yet another ring ceremony. However, once the game tips off, all eyes will be on the new-look Lakers. Patrick Beverley was acquired from the Utah Jazz after being trading from the Timberwolves, who acquired Rudy Gobert. Kendrick Nunn is healthy, and Anthony Davis looks to regain his former All-NBA form. The news surrounding Russell Westbrook will be ongoing throughout the season, but the real question mark surrounding this team is on the wing. LA brought in Lonnie Walker IV and Juan Toscano-Anderson to support Austin Reaves, but is it enough? They still lack perimeter shooting, but never count LeBron James and Anthony Davis out of a championship run.

The Warriors roster largely remains intact, at least on paper. Drama surrounding Draymond Green and Jordan Poole stole the headlines, but the Warriors look poised to make another deep playoff run. The core of Curry, Thompson, Green, Poole, and Wiggins are all returning, while key rotation player Kevon Looney was resigned. A healthy James Wiseman could be an x-factor for Golden State, and the players they lost this offseason were quickly replaced. Gone are Gary Payton II and Otto Porter Jr., ceding their roster spots to Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green. While the growth of both Moody and Kuminga are at the forefront of the Warriors future, this roster remains elite.

LA Lakers (+6.5)

The first question surrounding our Lakers exposure on tonight’s NBA slate is what to do with Anthony Davis. Assuming most flock to LeBron James for a mere increase in salary, AD could provide serious leverage over the field. At a mere $8,500 on DraftKings, Davis has the ceiling to be able to be an x-factor. While there is always injury concern, the upside is huge and he must be considered. LeBron James is chasing history this season, being 1,325 points away from the all-time scoring record. If that wasn’t enough motivation on Opening Day, how about having to watch Curry get his fourth ring in his home arena? The narratives are fun to follow, but truthfully, James is fresh off a season where he scored over 30 PPG on a 32.3% usage rate, playing over 37 minutes per night, making him an elite DFS play on a nightly basis.

The Lakers backcourt will presumably be a spot of value on this NBA slate. With Dennis Schroder now being out for the next 3-4 weeks, both Kendrick Nunn and Patrick Beverley will garner interest, especially with the former being minimum price on DraftKings. In his last full season in 2020-2021, Nunn averaged 14.6/3.2/2.6 for the Heat and has been flashing upside throughout preseason hoops. Beverley brings a tenacity to the Lakers perimeter defense and will certainly shadow Curry as much as possible, but the offensive upside remains capped while sharing the floor with James and Davis.

Golden State Warriors (-6.5)

It’s the first NBA slate of the season and we already have injury news. Coach Steve Kerr has reportedly expressed concern over the starting unit’s conditioning. Thus, they are likely to remain capped at 30 minutes, if they hit that mark at all. This rotation will be spread around in the early stages of the season, especially considering how short their offseasons have been.

Klay Thompson remains cautious with his rehab from multiple knee injuries, while Draymond Green and Steph Curry have been notorious for slow starts on Opening Day. Moreover, look for Kerr to get the youngsters involved early on. Kuminga, Moody, and Wiseman figure to be in his plans, while veterans fill out the rotation. Thus, I will likely be turning to the newly signed duo of Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins. The former was a 6th Man of the Year candidate last year, enjoying a breakout campaign. Poole sported a whopping 26% usage rate off the bench, putting up 18.5 PPG on 14 shots per night. Meanwhile, Wiggins thrived in the NBA Playoffs, but remains a modest option on offense. If you’re looking for upside, he may not be your best target, but he does provide a safe floor to round our your lineups.

NBA DFS Picks and Pivots: Slate Breakdown

On three game NBA DFS slates like we have tonight, you know I am a big believer in taking a stand and building around games versus specific players. As a GPP player, these are the kind of nights where you plant your flag – go all in on the game you like and in parallel, root hard against the games you faded!

When you look at this slate at a macro level, the two games that stand out are the Raptors/Bucks and Nets/Lakers and my guess is Miami/Sacramento becomes the boring one-off value game to fill out rosters.

Rather than simply list out plays, what I want to do today is a walk through a game stack focused GPP build on these types of games and how you can think through attacking it.

As Adam mentioned in his Core 4 today – ownership will be interesting to watch today and frankly, could be a key determining factor on where you plant your flag. The Nets/Lakers game has the star power that could draw ownership but I do think if Kyle Lowry ends up ruled out, it pushes more ownership towards a Raptors/Bucks stack that now becomes more balanced and easier to stack.

Nets and Lakers Game Stack

Let’s not pretend like Picks and Pivots was going to start anywhere else. In fact, during our slate preview discussions with Adam and Ghost, they joked – well we know what 2Lock is going to write so let’s try and write up something different. They know me – they get me.

UPDATE – Normally I do not come back and update these articles because news is so fluid in NBA but as of 3PM EST – I noticed something I thought was worth pointing out.

The Nets/Lakers total has dropped 7 POINTS today which is a massive in day movement without any public news.

Guys – be super careful with this game. If we do not have news before lock, understand your only pivots will be to the Kings and Heat and hence, everyone will pivot the same place at the same time (assuming we even get it before those games start). Just keep this in mind.

https://twitter.com/2lockSports/status/1362488172521926658

There is no secret here – we know the Nets play at a breakneck pace and they do so with defense being a total afterthought. There is a reason this game has the highest total on the slate and with the injury news the way it has fallen – stacking this became a matter of when versus how.

No Anthony Davis and no Kevin Durant make the path super simple – LeBron James ($10.2K) ran back with James Harden ($10.6K) and Kyrie Irving ($8.9K).

That is it – that’s the lineup. You want this game stack, you just locked in about 50% of the shot attempts in this game from this trio and if this game goes off, well you just found the guys who are going to be the reason.

The pricing is soft enough, primarily Kyrie’s price, that you can stack all 3 and you still have $4K per player for the rest of your build. So the question then becomes where else do you go?

On the Nets side of this game, as weird as it sounds, the status of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot is huge because it will really open up those fringe minutes for Brooklyn, which is where most of the value is. Bruce Brown ($4.1K) is likely going to draw the LeBron assignment and I think for that reason, he has the clear path to minutes at a cheap price point for Brooklyn.

The other Brooklyn player I think has some sneaky ceiling here is Jeff Green ($5.2K) – another player I can see getting significant run in a game that plays small at times and will be key in defending his old pal LeBron.

When Green was on the Celtics, he was routinely tasked with the LeBron Miami Heat assignments and while that is pushing a decade ago – we even saw 2 years ago in Washington where Green got the same assignment against an AD-less Lakers team.

The Lakers are a solid defensive team but they do struggle recently defending the three, ranking in the bottom 10 in 3P% and with so much focus on Kyrie/Harden – guys like Brown/Green can spot up and know down uncontested three balls.

Much of the decision here comes down to price – I like both plays in a game stack but that $1K savings on Brown over Green may be a deciding factor when all is said and done on a slate where every dollar counts!

The Lakers side of this game is where I think you really anchor to the value with AD sidelined. The starting unit here has a ton of value – specifically with Marc Gasol ($4K) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($3.3K).

The Lakers played a really condensed rotation last game with AD out, running Gasol and KCP 30+ minutes. As simple as it sounds – if you play 30 minutes against the Nets matador defense, you best believe you are in the player pool.

For Gasol, if you are a Center, playing 30 minutes against Brooklyn? Well, you are about to find your ceiling game and a DFS price increase. Did you guys NOT see what Hassan Whiteside just did to this Nets interior? Gasol at 4K and 30 minutes is just silly value and an ideal stacking piece or even a one-off value if you need it.

If you are KCP – this is the kind of game he thrives in as Brooklyn is one of the most turnover-prone teams in the NBA, giving up over 8 steals per game to opponents over the last 10 games. KCP played 30 minutes last game without AD, put up double-digit shot attempts, and remains $300 over the minimum on DK – and oh yeah, it is his birthday today. So, hello narrative season!

The one “spend-up” I want alongside LeBron today is Dennis Schroder ($5.2K). Schroder is going to be the primary secondary scorer now and if you look at the game flow against OKC what you notice is his staggered run with LeBron.

LeBron would come out, leaving Schroder to run the offense and then sub back in for Schroder and then sub back in mid first and second half to serve as the “point guard” when Schroder got his breather. I love this staggered approach from a correlation perspective as both players have a path then to ceiling with you always having at least one on the court to attack this Nets back court.

So what does this look like?

Step 1 is to lock in the 3 stars in LeBron, Kyrie and Harden. The stars and their raw points are what is going to dictate your cash position on a slate this size. If they have ceiling games, you are likely in a strong cash position – if they do not, well you move on to Friday – so is the life of a GPP game stack.

Step 2 is to lock in the obvious value and I think for me that starts with Marc Gasol and KCP. To get two players with 30+ minutes at $4K or lower in this kind of game environment is just too good to pass on and they complement well with a star like LeBron due to their ability to rack up peripheral/non-scoring stats.

Step 3 (A) is really where you make a decision on the “pay up” – whether you go for someone like Schroder or you push for a third Nets piece.

Step 3 (B): You take your one off value from the other game.

I lumped these two together because I think the punt you choose from the other games is going to decide which “mid-range” plays you can afford. If you can find a true punt in these other games that you like, it gives you FAR more ability to pay up for a Schroder or Jeff Green type, but if you cannot get comfortable, then living down in Bruce Brown land is where you likely end up.

Picks and Pivots – The Wrap Up

The small slates are always about taking a stand with your NBA DFS builds and this slate is no different. We have massive star power with Giannis in the early game and the Lakers/Nets late-night hammer – the issue with fading them is that you cannot fade the PLAYERS themselves, you need to fade the games.

If the Raptors/Bucks game stays close – Giannis has a 70+ DK point path as he showed in the previous meeting against them. So rather than just “fade him” – I think you fade that game and hope it is one-sided. To me there is no reason to play a Siakam/FVV if you aren’t running it back with Giannis.

This means thinking through game scripts and trying to predict game flows versus specific players.

On this short slate, no game has the mix of star power and value that the Nets and Lakers has, and the fact the pricing is soft enough where we can stack LeBron, Kyrie and Harden together and still feel good about our build – I say, we take the clearest path and simply enjoy the show.

Jacob’s Above Average Plays has had a phenomenal week and plans on continuing that today. Three more plays one NHL, one NBA, and an NFL playoff pick, that are going to break the books.

Take Baltimore -9.5 versus Tennessee (8:15 pm EST, Saturday 11 January 2020)

Well, we’ve made it to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs and, man, it’s been a crazy year and I do not think any other teams had a crazier run than these two. I think this will be a really good game but Baltimore is the better team. I see them not only advancing to the next round but covering this game.

Tennessee won last week versus the defending world champion, Patriots, but they didn’t look great and the Patriots played terribly. That is actually not a good thing as teams who beat the defending champions have gone just 1-13 next week. In last week’s game, quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, completed just eight of his fifteen pass attempts. That won’t be enough to beat or even stay close to the Ravens number one scoring offense in the league and number one in yards per game. While Tennessee has been putting up points, they face off against the number 7 all-time defense in DVOA and  I think this is their year. While Derrick Henry repeatedly had above-average games including last week rushing for 180 yards versus the Patriots, that wasn’t the same New England defense that started the year. So, I really think it was a misrepresentation of the Tennessee offense.

Baltimore, on the other hand, has not just been above average but stellar all year. They have the number one scoring offense, number two overall offense, the 7th best defense per DVOA of all time, and their defense holds teams to an average of 93.4 rush yards per game. In the last ten games, they won eight by double digits and they held five playoff teams this year under 20 points.

I really think Baltimore can name the score in this one. Baltimore, in my opinion, is the most complete team in the NFL and Tennessee’s performance, or lack of performance, was the deciding factor in this one. Take Baltimore minus the points.

Take Tampa Bay vs Philadelphia OVER 1.5 Goals First Period -167 ( 7:00 pm EST, Saturday, 11 January 2020)

Two of the NHL’s best scoring offenses face off tonight in what I think will be the highest-scoring game of the night. Tampa Bay plays hard and fast and Philly loves to pour in goals early and often.

This game will see goals early. Philly scored in the first ten minutes of their games in 32 out of the 44 games played which are obviously way above average when compared to the rest of the NHL. The Lightning did it in 25 of the 43 games that they have played. When it comes to the total going over one and a half goals in the first period, it gets even better. In the last ten games, Philly went over the total in seven and in five of ten for Tampa Bay. Overall in the first period, the total went over one and a half in just about 57% of the time and in about half of Tampa Bay’s games.

This game will go over in the first period. In six of the last seven matchups between these two teams, with Tampa Bay as the road team, the game total went over. Tampa Bay is the number one offense in the NHL and Philly is ranked 12th, scoring an above-average 3.18 goals per game. At home, Philly is ranked fourth in offense, scoring an above-average 3.75 goals per game.

This is going to be an exciting game. There will be goals on top of goals in a fast-paced, competitive game between two tough teams. I really like the over in this game, as I think we see more than seven goals. Take over 1.5 goals in the first period -167.

Take Oklahoma City -1 versus LA Lakers ( 8:00 pm EST, Saturday 11 January 2020)

Oklahoma City is the best cover team in the NBA and they are playing way above average from what they were. Usually, I wouldn’t go against the Lakers but they are not at full strength as Anthony Davis is out and Lebron probably isn’t playing. Because of their absences, I am all over the Thunder.

I nailed OKC as a dog the other night as the blew out Houston winning 113-92. They average 108.93 ppg and they rank ninth in field goal percentage (at home they rank first). They have an above-average defense, allowing 106.95 ppg, and, with the Lakers missing the majority of their playmakers, I really think LA will struggle tonight. Oklahoma has a great home record, winning 13 of their 19 home games, covering in 12 of them. The Thunder covered seven of the last ten games versus the Lakers.

The Lakers are going to struggle tonight without Lebron and Davis. I can’t put too much into their stats with their stars missing from this game. I think that they can step up defensively in this game. They rank eighth in road defense and a lot of their defense comes from roll players like Kyle Kuzma and Rajon Rondo. I think that the Lakers can at least keep this a low scoring game but they’re going to struggle on offense.

OKC is playing above-average basketball at home. They are 12-2 as a favorite and, in the last ten games versus the Lakers, they averaged 113 points. Going 11-2 against the spread versus the Lakers, in the last 13 games, is no small feat. With OKC winning eight of the last eight games and covering in seven of them, I see them taking it to the Lakers! Teams don’t get many opportunities to give the Lakers a loss and I see the Thunder handing them one tonight. Take Oklahoma -1.

(If Davis or James plays, this is a NO PLAY)

Over/Under Scoring

Damian Lillard: Third in the league in scoring, Lillard is averaging 30 points per game on 48% shooting from the field.

Kyrie Irving: He sits right about Lillard, averaging 31.7 points per game, second only to Houston’s James Harden, who is averaging 36.5 points per game.

Verdict: Lillard goes under, finishing with around 20-22 points. Irving could clear the over by halftime, as he remains the only reliable scoring option the Nets have.

Tuesday offers another six-game slate, so Vote Early and dig into the 11/5 NBA DFS Game Previews & Prop Bets

Indiana at Charlotte, 7:00 PM Eastern

Pacers at a Glance — 21st in scoring (105.2), 7th in scoring (103.8), 21st in offensive rating (104.3), 11th in defensive rating (103), 22nd in pace (100.8).

PF/C Domantas Sabonis ($8300/DK) is questionable, but with the Pacers playing back-to-backs, chances are Sabonis sits tonight and plays against the Wizards on Wednesday. With PF/C Myles Turner also out out, PF/C Goga Bitadze ($4000/DK) will likely see extended minutes tonight and could be worth a flier. PG/SG Malcolm Brogdon ($8200/DK) is a must-consider on a nightly basis, while SG/SF Jeremy Lamb ($6100/DK) is seeing a spike in his DKP per game totals.

Stud — Brogdon. Dud — SF/PF T.J. Warren ($6100). Sleeper — Bitadze.

Hornets at a Glance — 20th in scoring (105.5), 22nd in scoring defense (112.5), 20th in offensive rating (104.7), 27th in defensive rating (111.7), 24th in pace (100.7).

C Cody Zeller ($6500/DK) offers strong sleeper potential, especially if the Pacers choose to sit Sabonis. He should be a lock for a double-double. PG Terry Rozier ($6900/DK) has become more of a scoring threat in his last four games. Considering the lack of options in Charlotte, I think this is more than just a brief trend. Like Zeller, PF/C P.J. Washington ($6100/DK) has upside tonight.

Stud — Zeller. Dud — SF/PF Miles Bridges ($5400/DK). Sleeper — Washington.

Boston at Cleveland, 7:00 PM Eastern

Celtics at a Glance — 17th in scoring (108.6), 5th in scoring (103), 14th in offensive rating (107), 8th in defensive rating (101.4), 16th in pace (101.5).

After a down opener, PG Kemba Walker ($9100/FD) has averaged at least 42.2 FDP in his last four games. PF Jayson Tatum ($8300/FD) is more steady than spectacular. Nothing wrong with that, but I’d choose Walker if you had to build around a Celtics player tonight. SG Jaylen Brown ($6300/FD) is out tonight (illness), so look for more minutes for SG Marcus Smart ($5600/FD), who has been a surprise source of DFS production. PF Daniel Theis ($4200/FD) is a curious play. SF Gordon Hayward ($6900/FD) continues as a good value since the Boston bench is pretty thin.

Stud — Walker. Dud — Smart. Sleeper — Hayward.

Cavaliers at a Glance — 23rd in scoring (105), 19th in scoring defense (111), 23rd in offensive rating (103.8), 22nd in defensive rating (109.8), 20th in pace (101.1).

As long as he is healthy, PF Kevin Love ($9400/FD) is a must-consider. Tonight, he might be more of a must-start. C Tristan Thompson ($8400/FD) isn’t a fluke. The offense is now optimal for him to be more of an option rather than an observer. The blocked shots, however, is a fluke. PG Collin Sexton ($5200/FD) is averaging two assists per game. Uh, I’d like more from my PG, please. Stay far away from PG Darius Garland ($4000/FD) and SF Cedi Osman ($4400/FD).

Stud — Love. Dud — Garland. Sleeper — SF Larry Nance ($5000/FD).

San Antonio at Atlanta, 7:30 PM Eastern

Spurs at a Glance — 14th in scoring (112.8), 15th in scoring defense (109.8), 12th in offensive rating (108.6), 15th in defensive rating (105.8), 11th in pace (103.9).

Any time you have a PG averaging 8.6 rebounds per game to go along with 2.2 steals per contest, you have to pay attention, which is why Dejounte Murray ($6700/DK) is a strong option tonight. SG/SF DeMar DeRozan ($7500/DK) is adding rebounds and assists to his usual solid scoring totals. Run with him while that lasts. Facing Alex Len will be a challenge for PF/C LaMarcus Aldridge ($6800/DK), but must better than what he faced on Sunday contending with Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard. SF/PF Rudy Gay ($5200/DK) isn’t shooting well from long range but is doing enough stat-stuffing to merit consideration.

Stud — Murray. Dud — Gay. Sleeper C Jakob Poeltl ($3100/DK).

Hawks at a Glance — 26th in scoring (103.4), 8th in scoring defense (104.4), 25th in offensive rating (102.9), 12th in defensive rating (103.8), 25th in pace (100.5).

PF/C John Collins ($8000/DK) was suspended 25 games on Tuesday, taking away 36.9 DKP and huge presence inside for the Hawks. That dampens the news of PG Trae Young ($9200/DK) returning to the lineup. Expect Young to have a larger Usage rate. The value of PG/SG Deandre’ Bembry ($5300/DK) is hurt as well. With Collins out, rookie C Bruno Fernando ($3200) will likely see a considerable jump in minutes. Keep an eye on how much Len ($4100/DK) to get time, but he is dealing with a rib injury. However, he will play tonight.

Stud– Young. Dud– Bembry. Sleeper– Fernando

Orlando at Oklahoma City, 8:00 PM Eastern

Magic at a Glance — 30th in scoring (93.5), 2nd in defense (98.2), 30th in offensive rating (93.5), fifth in defensive rating (100.3), 29th in pace (97.9).

The best play is C Nikola Vucevic ($6800/FD), who’s settling in for his usual 34-36 FDP form. Keep an eye on SF Jonathan Isaac ($6600/FD), who continues to offer blocked shots but can’t be completely trusted due to his inconsistent scoring. I’m still not warm on PF Aaron Gordon ($6400/FD), nor am I feeling good about SG Evan Fournier ($5000/FD).

Stud — Vucevic. Dud — Fournier. Sleeper — Isaac.

Thunder at a Glance — 24th in scoring (104.2), 4th in scoring defense (104.8), 26th in offensive rating (101.5), 4th in defensive rating (99.1), 25th in pace (100.5).

SG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($8300/FD) is a more confident shooter than he was as a rookie last season. He’s playing well enough defensively to where Gilgeous-Alexander has become a lynchpin behind the Thunder’s top-end defensive effort thus far. PG Chris Paul ($7500/FD) has been more scorer than distributor. As usual, if Danilo Gallinari ($6200/FD) isn’t scoring the ball, he doesn’t offer much in DFS, especially in a game where neither team is a lock to score at least 100 points.

Stud — Gilgeous-Alexander. Dud — Gallinari. Sleeper — SF Hamidou Diallo ($4700/DK).

LA Lakers at Chicago, 8:30 PM Eastern

Lakers at a Glance — 16th in scoring (109.8), 3rd in scoring defense (99.3), 16th in offensive rating (106.7), 1st in defensive rating (96.5), 17th in pace (101.2).

You don’t need me to tell you have to expect from PF/C Anthony Davis ($10,000/DK) and PG/SF LeBron James ($9600/DK). The two combine for 112 DKP, so good luck if you can add both of them. C Dwight Howard ($5100/DK) has been revived in a backup role that allows him to be a defensive monster. SF/PF Kyle Kuzma ($5100/DK) is still getting his legs back under him, so I would stay away for now.

Stud — Davis. Dud — SG/SF Danny Green ($3900/DK). Sleeper — Howard.

Bulls at a Glance — 22nd in scoring (105), 18th in scoring defense (110.3), 22nd in offensive rating (103.8), 18th in defensive rating (109), 18th in pace (101.2).

This probably isn’t the game you want to run with the Bulls, as the Lakers match up well defensively against the young and error-prone Chicago offense. The best option would be PG/SG Zach LaVine ($7300/DK). PF/C Wendell Carter Jr. ($6100/DK) is still battling a thumb injury, while PF/C Lauri Markkanen ($6300/DK) is fighting an injury to his side. I love the upside of all three, but I’d avoid them tonight.

Stud — LaVine. Dud — Markkanen. Sleeper — Carter Jr.

Miami at Denver, 10:00 PM Eastern

Heat at a Glance — 5th in scoring (117.8), 9th in defensive scoring (106.2), 9th in offensive rating (109.2), 3rd in defensive rating (98.4), 7th in pace (106.1).

SG Jimmy Butler ($9400/FD) has not taken long to establish himself as a dominant presence in Miami, averaging better than 48 DKP per game. PF Bam Adebayo ($8400/FD) is living up the preseason promises and is establishing a dangerous outside-inside combo with himself and Butler. PG Kendrick Nunn ($5600/FD) is starting to slip a bit now that Butler is taken the bulk of the usage rate, while PG Goran Dragic ($5600/FD) is cooled off after a strong start. SF Justice Winslow ($6400/FD) is a game time decision.

Stud — Butler. Dud — Winslow. Sleeper — Nunn.

Nuggets at a Glance — 25th in scoring (103.5), 6th in scoring defense (103.2), 19th in offensive rating (104.8), 13th in defensive rating (104.4), 30th in pace (97.1).

The Nuggets are so boring that they make the Jazz look like the Showtime Lakers of the 80s. C Nikola Jokic ($9200/FD) is in an early slump that continues to burn DFS users. PG Jamaal Murray ($6500/FD) will see lots of Butler tonight, so I’m not sure I’d invest in him.

Stud — Jokic. Dud — SG Gary Harris ($5200/FD). Sleeper — PF Paul Millsap ($5400/FD)

Over/Under

Take Anthony Davis over his 27.5 points per game average. He will live on the free throw line tonight. Take the under on Zach LaVine. He may see more of LeBron James defensively than he may have wanted.

The 11/3 NBA DFS schedule tips off at 5:00 PM Eastern with five games on the main slate. Our game previews and Prop Bets will get you up and running to success.

Houston at Miami, 6:00 PM Eastern

Rockets at a Glance: 1st in scoring (125.6), 30th in scoring defense (126.6), 1st in offensive rating (115.5), 29th in defensive rating (116.4), 1st in pace (108.8).

Stud: PG Russell Westbrook ($10,300 FD) averages 55.5 FDP and has a pair of triple doubles and two other starts where he narrowly missed a TD.

Dud: SG Eric Gordon ($3900 FD) is shooting under 27 percent from 3-point range. His offense is his game, and if he’s not shooting…

Sleeper: There’s a breakout waiting to happen from SF Danuel House ($5000 FD), who is averaging 25.1 FDP. He’s capable of putting up 30-35 tonight and should be considered for those running with multiple lineups.

Heat at a Glance: 8th in scoring (115.6), 13th in scoring (107.4), 15th in offensive rating (107.4), 5th in defensive rating (99.8), 8th in pace (105.4).

Stud: With SF Jimmy Butler ($9300 FD) a gametime decision with a foot injury. PF Bam Adebayo ($8300 FD) will be the best DFS option, averaging 41 FDP.

Dud: PG Goran Dragic ($5900 FD) had a season-low 8.7 FDP against the Hawks on Thursday and is starting to lose momentum after opening with impressive numbers in his new role off the bench.

Sleeper: It might be time to stop waiting for rookie PG Kendrick Nunn ($6200 FD) to regress. He scored 28 points in Thursday’s win over the Hawks and will see a huge jolt of usage if Butler is either sitting out or has

his minutes limited.

Sacramento at New York, 6:00 PM

Kings at a Glance: 29th in scoring (99.2), 23rd in scoring (113.2), 28th in offensive rating (99), 26th in defensive rating (113), 26th in pace (100.1)

Stud: After a slow start, PG De’Aaron Fox ($8000 DK) has averaged 40.25 DKP over the past three games and will be in an entertaining matchup with rookie PG/SG RJ Barrett ($6500 DK).

Dud: After a pair of solid outings, PF/C Richaun Holmes ($5100 DK) reverted back to Richaun Holmes, putting up 15.5 DKP in a foul-plagued 20 minutes against the Jazz on Friday.

Sleeper: SF/PF Harrison Barnes ($4800 DK) has scored at least 30 DKP in his last two games and is averaging seven boards over his last three games.

Knicks at a Glance: 28th in scoring (100.8), 14th in defense (108), 27th in offensive rating (101.2), 19th in defensive rating (108.4), 27th in pace (99.2)

Stud: Barrett floated a 14.75 DKP dud against the Magic on Wednesday but rebounded with a solid 34.75 DKP against the Celtics on Friday. I’d strongly consider him in the lineup against a poor Kings defense.

Dud: In real life, C Mitchell Robinson ($5100 DK) is a bad-ass who is playing through ankle and thumb injuries. In NBA DFS, though, he’s killing lineups with a modest 24.9 DKP. Better options await in the middle.

Sleeper: SF/PF Marcus Morris had a season-best 50.75 DKP in Friday’s loss to the Celtics. He’s a streak shooter who gets a great matchup against a thin Kings frontcourt, and should be under advisement at $4900 DK.

LA Lakers at San Antonio, 7:00 PM Eastern

Lakers at a Glance: 15th in scoring (111.2), 3rd in scoring defense (100.1), 11th in offensive rating (108.3), 2nd in defensive rating (97.4), 23rd in pace (100.5)

Stud: Any questions about SF LeBron James ($10,900 FD) slipping a bit in DFS were answered with a loud 88.4 DFS in Friday’s steel cage match against the Mavericks. He should be good for about 55-60 FDP tonight.

Dud: For now, PF Kyle Kuzma ($4700 FD) should not be on NBA DFS lineups. He played just 19 minutes in his debut on Friday and will deal with ankle soreness for a extended period.

Sleeper: C Dwight Howard ($4900 FD) is a value play when looking for blocked shots. D12 looks like vintage Howard, averaging 2.5 blocks per game.

Spurs at a Glance: 7th in scoring (116.2), 18th in scoring defense (111.2), 3rd in offensive rating (112), 16th in defensive rating (107.2), 12th in pace (103.8)

Stud: PG Dejounte Murray ($6900 FD) missed Friday’s game against the Warriors but will return to the starting lineup. He’s becoming the best rebounding PG not named Russell Westbrook, averaging eight boards a game.

Dud: Don’t get giddy about PG Patty Mills ($4500 FD) and his 40.9 FDP performance against the Warriors on Friday. With Murray back in the lineup, he will fall back behind Derrick White and Bryn Forbes in the rotation.

Sleeper: White ($5600 FD) has put up two games of at least 31 FDP and will have intriguing value if looking to fill the end of your NBA DFS lineup, especially in a Showdown mode.

Dallas at Cleveland, 7:30 PM Eastern

Mavericks at a Glance: 13th in scoring (113.8), 21st in scoring defense (112.4), 6th in offensive rating (110), 20th in defensive rating (108.7), 20th in pace (101.3)

Stud: PG/SG Luka Doncic ($9200 DK) is listed as questionable after getting stitches in his head on Friday. Doncic is averaging 56 DKP and gets to carve up the Cavs’ backcourt.

Dud: PG/SG Delon Wright ($4900 DK) has crashed to earth with a pair of 18 DKP in his last three games.

Sleeper: C Dwight Powell ($3500 DK) is working his way back into the lineup. Increased minutes will mean increased production for the banger, who has only played in two games this season.

Cavaliers at a Glance: 24th in scoring (103.8), 12th in scoring defense (112.7), 24th in offensive rating (102.4), 15th in defensive rating (105.6), 19th in pace (101.3)

Stud: PF/C Kevin Love ($9000 DK) is averaging 16.8 rebounds and will be up to the challenge of hitting the glass against a Mavs team that ranks in the top half of the league in rebounding.

Dud: SF/PF Cedi Osman ($4900 DK) has been a bust across the board, with his flashes of offense the only thing going for him.

Sleeper: PG/SG Collin Sexton ($5900 DK) is scoring 18.2 points per game and could have a productive night if Doncic isn’t in the lineup.

LA Clippers at Utah, 9:00 PM Eastern

Clippers at a Glance: 11th in scoring (114.2), 16th (109.5), 2nd in offensive rating (112.5), 17th in defensive rating (107.9), 17th in pace (101.5)

Stud: SF Kawhi Leonard ($10,600 FD) has averaged at least 60 FD points in each of his last three starts. He’s a sure-fire stat stuffer.

Dud: PF JaMychal Green ($3900 FD) offers little beyond a flash or two of scoring.

Sleeper: C Ivica Zubac ($4400 FD) is an interesting Showdown option whose numbers would greater if he didn’t have to share minutes with Montrezl Harrell ($6600 FD).

Jazz at a Glance: 27th in scoring (101), 1st in scoring defense (94), 25th in offensive rating (102.2), 1st in defensive rating (95.2), 28th in pace (98.8)

Stud: With C Rudy Gobert ($8200 FD) playing below expectations, the play of SG Donovan Mitchell ($8400 FD) is perhaps the lone reliable option on the Utah roster. Mitchell is averaging two steals per night while maintaining a solid turnover rate.

Dud: Gobert hasn’t played up to his salary, but did put up 40.2 FDP on Friday. He has to string some vintage Gobert games before gaining the trust of NBA DFS users.

Sleeper: SF Bojan Bogdanovic ($5500 FD) has emerged as the second scoring option behind Mitchell. The points will be there, but it’s his defense that is pushing to strong sleeper status.

Monkey Knife Fight Picks of The Night – Play These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Over/Under Scoring

Julius Randle — Randle is averaging 14.3 points and is shooting 43.6% from the field. His 60.7% free throwing shooting will hamper his potential.

Buddy Hield — Hield is averaging 38.9% from the field but his 56% shooting in Friday’s win over the Jazz is encouraging.

Verdict — I got a feeling about Buddy Ball hitting MSG, so take Hield.
