Hockey

Hockey betting is an exhilarating way to engage with one of the world’s fastest sports. As hockey fans watch their favorite teams clash on the ice, many also enjoy the thrill of placing bets on the outcomes of the games. Betting on hockey can add an extra layer of excitement to every hit, goal, and save, turning every game into a suspense-filled event.

The popularity of hockey betting has soared alongside the sport itself, particularly with the rise of online sports betting platforms. These platforms have made it easier than ever for fans to place bets from the comfort of their own homes or even on the go via mobile apps. This accessibility has helped hockey maintain its strong position in the competitive sports betting market, attracting both seasoned bettors and newcomers alike.

In the sportsbetting world, hockey offers unique opportunities due to its dynamic pace and the variety of betting options available. From predicting the winner of the game to guessing the total number of goals, the options are diverse and can cater to the preferences of different types of bettors. Moreover, the intensity and unpredictability of hockey make it particularly appealing for live betting, where odds update in real time as the game unfolds.

Understanding hockey betting is not just about knowing the rules of the game but also about appreciating how these rules translate into betting opportunities. This article aims to demystify the world of hockey betting, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, whether you’re a die-hard fan of the sport or a curious newcomer to sportsbetting.

Understanding Hockey Betting Terms

Moneyline Bets – Moneyline bets are the simplest form of hockey betting, where you simply choose which team you think will win the game. Unlike some other sports, where point spread is a major factor, hockey moneylines focus on the outright winner. The odds are presented with a favorite (typically shown with a minus sign) and an underdog (shown with a plus sign). For example, if the New York Rangers are listed at -150 and the Boston Bruins at +130, a bet of $150 on the Rangers would yield $100 if they win, while a $100 bet on the Bruins would pay out $130 if they come out on top.

Puck Line Bets – The puck line is hockey’s version of the point spread. The puck line typically gives 1.5 goals to the underdog, adding a layer of strategy to your betting. If you bet on the favorite, that team must win by more than 1.5 goals for you to win your bet. Conversely, if you bet on the underdog, they must either win outright or lose by no more than one goal. This bet type adjusts the payouts based on team performance expectations, often leading to more lucrative odds if you can correctly predict a close game or a comfortable win.

Over/Under (Totals) – Betting the “over/under” involves predicting whether the total number of goals scored by both teams will be over or under a specified amount. For example, if an over/under is set at 5.5, you would bet whether the teams will combine for more or fewer than 5.5 goals. This type of bet doesn’t depend on who wins the game, just the overall scoring, making it a popular choice for those who might be unsure of the winner but have a sense of the game’s pace and offensive capabilities.

Proposition Bets (Props) – Proposition bets, or “props,” offer more specific betting options beyond the game’s outcome. In hockey, these can range from which player will score the first goal to whether a player will have a hat trick (three goals in one game). Prop bets can be based on statistics and individual performances, making them an interesting option for those who follow players’ performances closely.

Futures – Futures bets involve long-term predictions about team performances over the season. Common futures bets in hockey include which team will win the Stanley Cup or which player will win the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP. These bets are typically placed before the season starts or early in the season, offering higher payouts due to the difficulty of accurately predicting outcomes over such an extended period.

How to Read Hockey Odds

Understanding how odds work is crucial for anyone getting into hockey betting. Odds not only indicate the likelihood of an event happening but also tell you how much money you can win if you place a bet on that event.

Formats of Hockey Odds

American Odds: American odds are commonly used in the United States and are sometimes called moneyline odds. They are typically shown with a plus or minus sign. For example, if the Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at -130, you need to bet $130 to win $100. Conversely, if the Detroit Red Wings are listed at +110, a $100 bet would win you $110. The minus sign indicates the favorite, while the plus sign points to the underdog.

Decimal Odds: Decimal odds are more common in Europe, Canada, and Australia. They are straightforward to understand as they show the total payout per dollar bet. For instance, if the Chicago Blackhawks have decimal odds of 2.50, and you bet $100, you would receive $250 if you win (your original $100 bet plus $150 in winnings). To calculate your winnings, simply multiply your stake by the decimal odds.

Fractional Odds: Often used in the UK, fractional odds tell you the profit relative to your stake. For example, if the odds are 5/1 (or five to one), you can win $5 for every $1 you bet, plus your original dollar back. So, a $10 bet at 5/1 odds would return $60 ($50 profit plus your $10 stake).

Significance of Understanding Odds

Understanding these different formats of odds is vital for making informed betting decisions. It allows you to:

  • Assess Probability: Odds give you a sense of how likely it is for a particular outcome to occur. Lower odds mean a higher probability of success but usually with lower returns. Higher odds offer higher payouts but are riskier.
  • Compare Value: By understanding odds, you can compare different bets and choose the one that offers the best value. This means considering the potential return against the risk of the bet.
  • Manage Your Bankroll: Knowing how to read odds helps you manage your betting funds more effectively. You can decide how much to bet based on the likelihood of winning and the potential return, ensuring you don’t risk more than you can afford to lose.
  • Shop for the Best Lines: Different sportsbooks may offer different odds for the same games. By understanding how to read and interpret these odds, you can shop around to find the best possible returns on your bets.

Basic Strategies for Hockey Betting

Success in hockey betting doesn’t just come from luck; it requires strategy, discipline, and ongoing learning. Here are some fundamental strategies to help you enhance your betting effectiveness.

Research

Before placing any bets, thorough research is crucial. Understanding recent team performance, head-to-head records, and player statistics can provide insights that are not immediately apparent from the odds alone. For instance, a team may have a strong overall record but struggle against teams with robust defenses. Similarly, individual player stats can reveal mismatches in games that could affect the outcome—like a top scorer facing a team with a weak goaltender. This type of research will help you make more informed decisions and spot value that others might overlook.

Bankroll Management

One of the most critical aspects of betting is managing your funds responsibly. Start by setting a budget for how much you’re willing to lose without it affecting your daily life. It’s wise to use a unit system where you bet an equal portion of your bankroll (for example, 1-2% per bet) on each game. This method helps spread the risk and extends your betting ability, preventing the loss of your entire bankroll from a few bad bets.

Shopping for Lines

Odds can vary significantly between different sportsbooks, and shopping around for the best line is a key strategy. This might involve having accounts at multiple sportsbooks to always ensure you’re getting the best value for your bets. Even small differences in the odds can significantly impact your potential returns over time, so always compare before placing your bets.

In-Game Betting

Live betting, or in-game betting, allows bettors to place bets after the game has started, with odds that update as the game progresses. This can be particularly advantageous in hockey, where the flow of the game can change rapidly. For example, if a key player is injured during the game, this might alter the likely outcome, and quick decisions can take advantage of such situations. Live betting requires a good understanding of the game and the ability, to sum up, the current situation quickly.

Common Mistakes to Avoid in Hockey Betting

The world of hockey betting can be as tricky as skating on thin ice. Here are some typical mistakes to steer clear of, which can help you maintain a solid footing in your betting journey.

Emotional Betting

It’s easy to let your heart rule your head, especially if you’re betting on your favorite team. However, successful betting relies on objective analysis, not personal bias. Always base your bets on current data and informed predictions rather than loyalty or feelings. Betting on a team because you support them or because they won spectacularly in their last game are common traps that can lead to losses.

Chasings Losses

After a loss, it’s tempting to try to win your money back quickly with bigger and riskier bets. This strategy, known as ‘chasing losses,’ often leads to even bigger losses. A smarter approach is to stick to your betting strategy and bankroll management rules, accepting that losses are part of the game. Remember, the goal is long-term profitability, not recovering losses immediately.

Ignoring Game Context

Every hockey game unfolds in a unique context, which can include factors like team fatigue, injuries, and even weather conditions if the game is outdoors (e.g., NHL Winter Classic). Ignoring these factors can skew your understanding of the game’s likely outcome. For instance, a top team might play poorly at the end of a long road trip or when key players are out with injuries. Always consider the context of the game before placing your bet.

Overlooking Line Movement

Odds in sports betting are dynamic; they change in response to betting trends, news about the teams, and other market factors. Failing to monitor these changes can result in missing out on better odds or betting at a disadvantage. Keep an eye on how the odds evolve and understand what causes shifts in the betting line to make well-informed decisions.

Not Shopping Around

Sticking to one sportsbook might seem convenient, but it can cost you money in the long run. Different sportsbooks offer different odds and lines, and by not comparing them, you might miss out on better returns on your bets. Make it a habit to shop around for the best odds for each bet you make.

Choosing the Right Sportsbook

Selecting the right sportsbook is as crucial as picking the right team to bet on. Here are some key factors to consider that can make your betting experience more enjoyable and potentially more profitable.

Competitive Odds

The most important aspect of any sportsbook is the odds they offer. Odds determine how much you can win, so you want a sportsbook that provides competitive odds. Even slight differences can add up over time, affecting your overall profitability. Before settling on a sportsbook, compare the odds for the same events across several platforms to ensure you’re getting the best value.

User Interface

A good sportsbook should be easy to navigate. You want to find games, place bets, and view your account balance without any hassle. An intuitive and well-designed user interface can significantly enhance your betting experience, especially when you need to make quick decisions for in-game betting. Try out a few platforms to see which one feels the most intuitive and responsive to your needs.

Bonus Offers and Promotions

Many sportsbooks offer bonuses and promotions to attract new customers and keep existing ones engaged. These can include sign-up bonuses, free bets, and loyalty programs. While such offers can provide great value, it’s important to read the terms and conditions. Ensure that the requirements to claim these bonuses are reasonable and within your betting budget and strategy.

Variety of Betting Options

Look for sportsbooks that offer a wide range of betting options. Besides standard bets like moneylines, puck lines, and totals, see if they provide a good selection of prop bets and futures. This diversity can not only make your betting more fun but also give you more opportunities to find bets that offer good value.

Payment Options and Security

Ensure the sportsbook offers secure and convenient payment options that suit your preferences, including deposits and withdrawals. Security is paramount, as you want to ensure that both your financial and personal data are protected. A reputable sportsbook should use encryption technology and have a good track record of protecting user information.

Customer Support

Effective customer support can be vital, especially if you encounter issues with your account or have questions about bets. The availability of responsive customer service through various channels such as live chat, email, or phone can be a major factor in choosing a sportsbook.

Reviews and Reputation

Finally, consider the sportsbook’s reputation within the betting community. Look for reviews and testimonials from other bettors to gauge their experiences. A sportsbook with a solid reputation for fairness, timely payouts, and reliable service is more likely to provide a positive betting experience.

Final Thoughts

In this article, we’ve covered the fundamentals of hockey betting, from understanding different types of bets and reading odds to strategizing for success and choosing the right sportsbook. Each section has aimed to provide you with a solid foundation to not only enjoy hockey betting but also increase your chances of winning.

We highlighted the importance of considering factors like odds, user interface, bonuses, and variety of betting options, payment security, customer support, and overall reputation.

As you venture into hockey betting, remember that it should always be a fun and responsible activity. The world of sportsbetting is continually evolving, and staying informed through continuous learning will help you make better decisions and keep your experience enjoyable.

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Carolina Hurricanes (-205) at Washington Capitals (+170) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (+164) at Dallas Stars (-198) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+295) at Colorado Avalanche (-375) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (-108) at Arizona Coyotes (-112) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

3/22 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Carolina Hurricanes -205

— Carolina has been unstoppable as of late, winning their last five games and winning eight of their last nine. They’ve climbed all the way to the top of the rankings and can tie the high-flying New York Rangers for 1st place in the Metro Division with a win here tonight. Their opponents tonight are the Washington Capitals who are coming off of a 7-3 beat down at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs two nights ago. The Capitals will be facing off without two of their top forwards tonight. Tom Wilson is out with a suspension, and TJ Oshie is still day-to-day with an Upper Body injury.

Carolina has been one of the best all-around teams in the league this season from a stats perspective. They score at a very high pace (3.39 goals per game on average, 8th best in the league) and also are very good at keeping the puck out of their own net (2.61 goals against allowed per game, 4th best in the league). The Capitals on the other hand are very mediocre if not bad across the board. They sit 28th in the league in goals per game, and 18th in the league in goals allowed per game.

Simply put, Carolina is better than Washington offensively and defensively. Further, with the personnel that Washington is missing, I can see them losing their structure on the ice and falling a step behind for most of the game. Even though the Hurricanes played last night, I love them in this spot.

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Carolina Hurricanes 1 (Jake Guentzel-Sebastian Aho-Seth Jarvis) [Lines may change if Teravainen is back in the lineup]

Honorable Mention(s): Colorado Avalanche (-375)

3/22 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Andre Burakovsky SEA (Over 1.5 Shots), Martin Necas CAR (Over 2.5 Shots)

3/22 NHL TOP SGP PICK

1. Carolina Hurricanes ML, Seth Jarvis CAR (Over 0.5 Points), Martin Necas CAR (Over 0.5 Points), Martin Necas CAR (Over 2.5 Shots)

2. Colorado Avalanche ML, Nathan MacKinnon COL (1+ Points), Mikko Rantanen COL (1+ Points), Nathan MacKinnon COL (4+ Shots on Goal)

3/22 NHL RISKY PROP PARLAY

Welcome to the latest edition of WinDaily’s Power Play Picks! We have four games for tonight’s Friday Night 3/15 NHL action. The first puck drop begins at 8:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to place your bets before then, and check the discord for any updates! Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Anaheim Ducks (+300) at Winnipeg Jets (-380) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (-270) at Chicago Blackhawks (+220) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

3/15 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Winnipeg Jets -380

— Despite the fact that a flu has been spreading through the Jets locker room, they are heavy favourites in this matchup for a reason. The Ducks have been BAD, VERY BAD; they’ve lost their last four games and sit as the third-worst team in the league this season, just ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks, who have been stringing things together already despite being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. With just a handful of weeks left in the season, the Ducks seem to have written off the rest of the year to focus on future seasons. It’s not the most inspiring strategy for fans, but it’s great for betting.

In this case, we have a rested team in a divisional playoff spot looking to hold on down the stretch against a team that played the night prior and has not looked eager to compete all season. I am very confident in the Jets tonight, even if Scheifele is still on the shelf with an illness. This game should not be close.

The odds and stats paint the exact same picture. In addition to being the clear favorite on the moneyline, the Jets also have the highest implied total of the slate. The Jets lead the Ducks in nearly every stat category, with the most significant disparity being on the defensive end, where the Jets sit near the top of the league in ‘Goals allowed’ and ‘Shots on goal allowed’ per game while the Ducks sit near the bottom of the league in both.

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Winnipeg Jets 2 (Alex Iafallo-Sean Monahan-Tyler Toffoli) [Lines may change if Scheifele is back in the lineup]

Honorable Mention(s): Los Angeles Kings (-270)

3/15 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Winnipeg Jets Over 2.5 Goals, LA Kings Over 2.5 Goals

3/15 NHL TOP SGP PICK

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Recent Performances (How have they been playing lately?), Vegas Favourites (How are the odds projecting this game to go?), Team vs Team Stat Comparison (How has this team’s opponents played all season. What are they weak at and where do they excel)

1. Kyle Connor (3+ Shots on Goal), Winnipeg Jets (Over 2.5 Goals), Winnipeg Jets ML, Ryan Strome (2+ Shots on Goal)

2. LA Kings ML, LA Kings (Over 2.5 Goals), Kevin Fiala LAK (3+ Shots on Goal), Adrian Kempe LAK (4+ Shots on Goal), Adrian Kempe LAK (Anytime Goalscorer), Chicago Blackhawks (Under 4.5 Goals)

3/15 NHL RISKY PROP PARLAY

Welcome to the latest edition of WinDaily’s Power Play Picks! We have four games for tonight’s Friday Night 3/8 NHL action. The first puck drop begins at 9:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to place your bets before then, and check the discord for any updates! Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Minnesota Wild (+170) at Colorado Avalanche (-205) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (-135) at Arizona Coyotes (+114) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (-305) at Anaheim Ducks (+245) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-125) at Seattle Kraken (+105) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

3/8 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Dallas Stars -305

— The Stars are finally out of their rut, and the fourth-best team in the NHL this season has strung together a three-game winning streak as they head into the Golden State for one of the latest games on the slate. The Ducks, on the other hand, have had a far less successful season and a shaky record as of late. The Ducks have also had a lot of trouble defending home ice this season, holding an abysmal 10-21-1 record in the Honda Centre this season.

With the emergence of young talents such as Wyatt Johnston or Logan Stankoven on the Dallas Stars, Dallas has found a clean transition away from relying too heavily on their older players to a more balanced lineup where they can still get strong performances from Jaime Benn and Joe Pavelski, but it’s not the only threat they present on the ice. Stankoven, in particular, has been on an impressive streak as of late, scoring five goals and three assists over his last five games. As a result, his linemates have benefitted greatly from peripheral point production. It’ll be hard to ignore the Dallas Stars as a solid parlay piece tonight, even at -305

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Dallas Stars 1 (Jaime Benn-Wyatt Johnston-Logan Stankoven)

Honorable Mention(s): Winnipeg Jets (-125)

3/8 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Detroit Red Wings vs Arizona Coyotes (Both Teams to Score Two), COL ML

3/8 NHL TOP SGP PICK

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Recent Performances (How have they been playing lately?), Vegas Favourites (How are the odds projecting this game to go?), Team vs Team Stat Comparison (How has this team’s opponents played all season. What are they weak at and where do they excel)

1. Dallas Stars ML, Logan Stankoven DAL (Anytime Goal), Wyatt Johnston DAL (+2.5 Shots)

2. Winnipeg Jets – Seattle Kraken (Both Teams to Score 2+), Kyle Connor WPG (+0.5 Points), Mark Schiefele WPG (+0.5 Points), Oliver Bjorkstrand SEA (+0.5 Points)

3/8 NHL RISKY PROP PARLAY

Nathan MacKinnon COL (Anytime Goalscorer), Logan Stankoven DAL (Anytime Goalscorer), Kyle Connor WPG (Anytime Goalscorer)

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Arizona Coyotes (+160) at Ottawa Senators (-192) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (-120) at Washington Capitals (+100) – 6 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-250) at Anaheim Ducks (+205) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

3/1 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. New Jersey Devils -250

— The Ducks have been dealing with some rough results as of late. Even with last night’s win over the San Jose Sharks (who are even worse than the Ducks), they have still lost three of their last four games. Their confidence is not high, and being on the second half of a back-to-back against a fresh Devils team is never a good combination.

The Devils currently sit one point out of a playoff spot, and despite their notable injuries (Dougie Hamilton and Vitek Vanecek), a lot of their struggles this season have been deeper-seeded issues. These issues are nearly all defensive issues. Offensively, this team is a juggernaut, with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt leading the offensive onslaught as of late. Luckily for the Devils the Ducks have been struggling on both ends of the ice, putting up similar numbers to the Devils defensively and drastically worse numbers offensively. There should be a lot of goals in this matchup, and I can see the Devils taking charge of the matchup early and easily hitting their Vegas-implied total of 4.1 (which is the highest on tonight’s slate). Look to Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt to get the offence started here tonight.

(NOTE: The Power Play numbers are very notable here, despite the Devils converting at a league average rate of 22%. The Ducks have the 5th worst penalty kill in the league, coughing up goals on 24.3% of their penalty kills. This is also coupled with the fact that they allow the most penalty minutes per game in the whole league at 14.3 compared to the 7.9 penalty minutes per game that the Devils incur.)

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: New Jersey Devils 1 (Timo Meier-Nico Hischier-Jesper Bratt)

Honorable Mention(s): Ottawa Senators (-192)

3/1 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Scott Laughton PHI +0.5 Points, Dylan Strome WSH +0.5 Points

3/1 NHL TOP SGP PICK

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Recent Performances (How have they been playing lately?), Vegas Favourites (How are the odds projecting this game to go?), Team vs Team Stat Comparison (How has this team’s opponents played all season. What are they weak at and where do they excel)

1. New Jersey Devils ML, Jack Hughes NJD (+4.5 Shots), Jesper Bratt NJD (+3 Shots)

2. Arizona – Ottawa (Both Teams to Score 2+), Claude Giroux OTT (+0.5 Points), Drake Batherson OTT (+0.5 Points)

3/1 NHL RISKY PROP PARLAY

Scott Laughton PHI (Over 0.5 Assists), Jack Hughes NJD (6+ Shots), Arizona vs Ottawa (Both Teams to Score 2+ Goals)

Welcome to the latest edition of WinDaily’s Power Play Picks! We have three games for tonight’s Friday Night 2/23 NHL action. The first puck drop begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to place your bets before then, and check the discord for any updates! Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Buffalo Sabres (-142) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-270) at Chicago Blackhawks (+220) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (+154) at Edmonton Oilers (-185) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

2/23 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Winnipeg Jets -270

— Winnipeg has had a shaky start to the new year but has truly found their rhythm heading into the final two months of the season. With four wins out of their last five games, the Jets have created some breathing room away from the Wild Card race and have seen scoring from up and down the lineup, including from players who were underperforming to start the year, such as Sean Monahan and Gabriel Vilardi. Vilardi, in particular, has returned to his top-line role with the Jets and has been insanely successful over his last three games with four goals and four assists. Coming into tonight against the Blackhawks, who are currently the worst team in the league, I recommend prioritizing the Jets for your parlays and single bets tonight. To say the Flames have been underperforming has been an understatement. Even by their own standards, they have been terrible. They only have four wins in 2024 and have lost 10 of their last 11 games. Statistically, they sit near the bottom (or dead last) in every statistical category (goals, shots, goals allowed, shots allowed, shooting percentage, power play percentage and faceoff percentage to name a few), and they have picked up serious injuries at the worst times (i.e. Connor Murphy, Taylor Hall, and Connor Bedard). Although Bedard is now back, the Blackhawks’ fortunes haven’t changed, and I’ll be relying heavily on the Jets tonight.

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Winnipeg Jets 1 (Gabriel Vilardi – Mark Schiefele – Kyle Connor)

Honorable Mention(s): Buffalo Sabres (-142)

2/23 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Kyle Connor WPG +0.5 Points, Mark Scheifele WPG +0.5 Points

2/23 NHL TOP SGP PICK

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Recent Performances (How have they been playing lately?), Vegas Favourites (How are the odds projecting this game to go?), Team vs Team Stat Comparison (How has this team’s opponents played all season. What are they weak at and where do they excel)

1. Buffalo Sabres ML, Johnny Gaudreau CBJ (+0.5 Points), Tage Thompson BUF (+3.5 Shots on Goal), Tage Thompson BUF (+0.5 Points)

2. Edmonton Oilers ML, Connor McDavid EDM (+0.5 Points), Zach Hyman EDM (+0.5 Points), Joel Eriksson Ek MIN (+3.5 Shots on Goal), Joel Eriksson Ek (+0.5 Points)

2/23 NHL RISKY PROP PARLAY

Nick Foligno CHI (Over 0.5 Points), Johnny Gaudreau CBJ (Over 0.5 Points), Matthew Boldy MIN (Over 0.5 Points)

— The Oilers are fresh from a 16-game win streak and continue on their western road trip against the league’s third-worst team, the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks have been decent as of late, with three wins over their last four games, but the competition they were facing is not at the level of the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers currently have the 7th best scorer in the league (Zach Hyman) and the 4th best point-getter in the league (Connor McDavid). Over the past month, these guys have simply been unstoppable, and they are coming up against a Ducks side that is defensively helpless. The Ducks sit 26th in the league on goals against (allowing 3.4 goals per game) and allow 32.7 shots on goal per game (28th best). Although their odds are similar to that of the New York Rangers over the Chicago Blackhawks, the implied goal total of the Oilers is far and away the best on the slate.

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Edmonton Oilers 1 (Zach Hyman- Connor McDavid- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins)

Honorable Mention(s): New York Rangers -305

2/9 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Connor McDavid FLA +0.5 Points, Zach Hyman +0.5 Points

2/9 NHL TOP SGP PICK

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Recent Performances (How have they been playing lately?), Vegas Favourites (How are the odds projecting this game to go?), Team vs Team Stat Comparison (How has this team’s opponents played all season. What are they weak at and where do they excel)

1. New York Rangers ML, Vincent Trocheck NYR (Over 0.5 Points, Alexis Lafreniere NYR (+2.5 Shots on Goal), Jacob Trouba NYR (+1.5 Shots on Goal)

2. Edmonton Oilers ML, Connor McDavid EDM (+0.5 Points), Evander Kane EDM (+2.5 Shots on Goal), Connor McDavid EDM (+4 Shots on Goal)

TONIGHT’S ODDS

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Vegas Golden Knights (+130) at New York Rangers (-155) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-122) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+102) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+120) at Colorado Avalanche (-142) – 6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+124) at Seattle Kraken (-148) – 6 Projected Goal Total

1/26 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Colorado Avalanche -142

— Colorado has been very impressive as of late. They have won their last two games and are 7-3-0 over their last ten games. Especially at home, where they have posted an insane 19-5-0 record at Ball Arena. The Kings, on the other hand, have blown their last two games, allowing five goals in each of those two contests. The Kings have also only won two games over their last 14 games, including a loss to the San Jose Sharks. On top of that, the Kings have a bit of a crisis between the pipes. For most of the year, they were able to rely on 36-year-old netminder Cam Talbot for consistently strong performances. But, at this point, Talbot has lost his last nine games in a row and has lost the trust of the Kings coaching staff. The Kings’ locker room is in disarray; regular performers have been inconsistent as of late, and they are up against a hot Avalanche team that has been quite formidable on home ice. To me, the Avalanche ML is the lock of the night!

TOP DAILY FANTASY LINE: Colorado Avalanche 1 (Jonathan Drouin – Nathan MacKinnon – Mikko Rantanen)

Honorable Mention(s): Florida Panthers -122

1/26 TOP PARLAY OF THE DAY

Honorable Mention(s): Sam Reinhart FLA +0.5 Points, Cale Makar +0.5 Points

Welcome to the first edition of WinDaily’s Power Play Picks! We have four games for tonight’s Friday Night 1/19 NHL action.

New York Islanders (-250) at Chicago Blackhawks (+205) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Detriot Red Wings (+170) at Carolina Hurricanes (-205) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-166) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+140) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (+160) at Florida Panthers (-192) – 6 Projected Goal Total

1/19 NHL GAME OF THE NIGHT

1. Florida Panthers -192

— Florida has been on absolute fire this season, with seven wins over their last 10 games. Their opponents, the Minnesota Wild have lost eight of their last ten games. The Wild have regularly given up four goals or more (sometimes even six or seven goals) in this recent skid and have struggled significantly in the pipes. They average 3.3 goals against per game (Ranked 22nd in the league), and the Vegas odds project them to give up an implied total of 3.8 goals against tonight against the Panthers. The Panthers’ offence has been led by all-star Sam Reinhart, who is currently on an eight-game goal streak and has an incredible 14 goals over his past ten games. The Panthers could also see the return of their top center, Aleksander Barkov, who sat out the last game with a lower-body injury and is a game-time decision for tonight’s matchup. A full-strength Florida Panthers lineup is a scary matchup for any team, but against a Minnesota Wild team who have been struggling defensively all season, this game has to be a lock for tonight’s GAME OF THE NIGHT.

Honorable Mention(s): Carolina Hurricanes –205

We’re back with another edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches. We have an exciting new style for todays article and we have a nice two-gamer for tonight’s Friday Night 1/12 NHL action. The first puck drop begins at 8:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

    1/12 NHL Stack Report

    1. Dallas Stars 1 (Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski)

    — With just two matchups on today’s slate there is not a lot of variety for Daily Fantasy lines. Dallas is far and away the biggest favorite on the slate and holds the highest implied total after coming off a 7-2 win against the Minnesota Wild. Tonight, Dallas will be looking to embark on a three-game winning streak and their top performers will need to keep up their current momentum to make it happen. Robertson has been leading Dallas’ successful offence as of late with goals in each of his last three games and nine points over his last seven games. His linemates, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski have been just as impressive as of late with both also scoring in the win over the Wild. Dallas’ whole top line presents a scoring threat to the Predators and they will eventually overcome Nashville’s underperforming defense that has allowed an average of 3.17 goals against per game.

    Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Miro Heiskanen

    Top Parlay of the Night

    Honorable Mention(s): Philadelphia Flyers 1 (Farabee-Couturier-Konecny)

    1. Scott Wedgewood (Jake Oettinger if he’s starting)
    2. Samuel Ersson
      Honorable Mention(s): Marc-Andre Fleury

    Worst (Goalies to Target)

    1. Juuse Saros
    Honorable Mention(s): N/A

1/12 NHL Risky Prop of the Night

Honorable Mention(s): Gustav Nyquist NSH (+0.5 Points)

    Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

    Winger Jason Robertson

Defenseman – Brock Faber (Jamie Drysdale also works as a value option)
