We’re back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! We had a strong performance after the breakdown in yesterday’s article! Tonight we have a small 4-gamer for tonight’s slate, with some great plays that jumped out right away!!! So, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 12/8 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

12/8 NHL Stack Report

  1. Boston Bruins 1
    Marchand – Bergeron – Pastrnak (FanDuel: $26,300 | DraftKings: $22,700)
Lets get the obvious out of the way first. Out of all the “top lines” (the others being COL1 and VGK1, in terms of the line’s high salaries) Boston’s top line is in the best spot for tonight’s slate. They are far and away Boston’s best line meaning that unlike Colorado and Vegas’ top line they will see a lionshare of the playing time as well as the power play opportunities. Unsuprisingly, they’ve been consistently good, for example Marchand has only been kept off the scoresheet in three games this season. He’s more than made up for those games with many multi-point game efforts. In tonight’s slate they’re up against a Vancouver side who has had a shaky go this season as they hold an embarrassing home record of 4-7-1 and are near the bottom of the league in defensive stats while also having a goalie who is extremley inconsistent and struggles against top talent. This line is very expensive so if you can only pick one player from this line, pick Marchand.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Charlie McAvoy (FD: $6,700 | DK: $6,000)
  2. New Jersey Devils 1
    Bratt – Hischier – Zacha (FanDuel: $14,500 | DraftKings: $14,300)
This line is a welcomed edition to tonight’s small slate as they are a top line that will get plenty of opportunities to run over the struggling Philadelphia Flyers who have now lost NINE straight and arguably made matters worse by hiring Mike Yeo who is most notable for getting fired by the Blues en route to the Blues miraculous cup run back in 2019. Over their last two games, the Flyers coughed up 14 goals!!!! Bottom line, the Flyers are struggling bad (lacklustre offence, and worse defense) and at these prices New Jersey can provide some top talent performances at value prices. On this line in particular I am particularly looking at Bratt and Hischier for my builds tonight as they have been consistently good as of late (especially Bratt).
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Dougie Hamilton (Ryan Graves works as salary relief) (FD: $7,300 | DK: $7,700)

    Honorable Mention(s): DAL1 (Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski), COL1 (Rantanen-MacKinnon-Landeskog), VGK2 (Smith-Karlsson-Marchessault), VGK1 (Stone-Stephenson-Pacioretty)

12/8 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Mackenzie Blackwood (FD: $7,100 | DK: $8,000)
  2. Jeremy Swayman (FD: $8,400 | DK: $8,200)

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Thatcher Demko (FD: $7,400 | DK: $7,200)

12/8 NHL Wild Card Targets

Devon Toews (FD: $5,600 | DK: $5,700)
Devon Toews has been a surprising success story for the Ave’s considering the time and effort they have spent into (successfully) developing Cale Makar. Regardless, Toews has been making the most of his opportunities as of late and has been putting together quite the run as of late. Like Marchand, he has only been kept off the scoresheet in three of his games this season and has strung together his fair share of multipoint games (including in his last two games). Stacking Toews will be difficult since his linemates are very expensive but he does work as a one-off option and can serve as a cheaper option to defenseman Dougie Hamilton as in this slate, in particular, smart salary plays are everything. It would be wise to get some exposure to the Colorado side of this matchup as they will be facing off against a Rangers side who played last night and who will most likely be starting a goalie who is taking on both sides of the back-to-back and has notoriously had some trouble stopping the puck this season despite the fact that his team’s offence has been able to bail him out. Toews plays alongside Makar on the Avalanche’s top defensive pairing and also sees time on Colorado’s second power-play unit.
Honorable Mention(s): Jason Robertson, Reilly Smith, Wade Allison, Nazem Kadri

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Nico Hischier

Winger Brad Marchand

Defence Dougie Hamilton (Devon Toews if you need the extra salary)

Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood

We’re back to a normal NBA slate before getting another three games tomorrow, so we’ll be taking full advantage of maximizing the potential of our player pool; not necessarily expanding it all that much, but getting the right plays will be key tonight with the Charlotte Hornets likely being the highest rostered players once again. It’s Wet Wednesday’s edition of the Gems – let’a ride.

One thing I want to clarify based on the questions I have received over the past few years is that I will never list a player under the $5,000 price tag simply because I use the projection model to identify all targets in this range and below. While there are often plenty of options that I like at $5,000 and less, since I often find myself with not only one – but multiple – in my NBA DFS lineups, you all have access to the very model I use to make my own selections, so when asking yourself: “Should I use player X or player Y?”, make sure to check the model because that is how I make all of my own decisions and I truly ride or die by it on a daily basis.

Before running to the DraftKings, FanDuel, or Yahoo lobby to construct your NBA DFS lineup after reading this article, please make sure to utilize the abundance of tools we have at Win Daily:

Before I dive into individual players at each respective position, please note that, for obvious reasons, the Charlotte Hornets are once again at the top of everyone’s priority list. With Ish Smith joining LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Mason Plumlee, and Jalen McDaniels in health and safety protocols, the Hornets are down to a 7-man rotation and will all be popular on tonight’s NBA slate once again.

Point Guards

Steph Curry ($11,400 DK / $10,700 FD)

Steph Curry needs 16 3-pointers to pass Ray Allen for the most 3PM all time in the NBA and I will be rostering him every night until then. Truth be told, with the way both Steve Kerr and Curry’s press conferences went the other night, it looks like he’s gunning for it in this game alone, which would also make him pass teammate Klay Thompson for the most 3PM in a single game. With the Blazers ranking dead last in defensive rating, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see Curry go bonkers tonight to set the record and break the NBA slate in the process.

Kyle Lowry ($7,200 DK / $6,500 FD)

With the Heat missing Jimmy Butler after leaving last game with an aggravated tailbone injury, in addition to Bam Adebayo being out for the next 4-6 weeks after surgery, both Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro are to be highly considered for tonight’s NBA slate. With the two franchise players off the court, Lowry sees an increase in FPPM from 0.96 to 1.03, including a 3.3% increase in usage rate.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Luka Doncic ($11,500 DK / $9,900 FD)
  • Dennis Schroder ($6,200 DK / $6,300 FD)

Shooting Guards

Brandon Ingram ($9,100 DK / $7,700 FD)

With Brandon Ingram sporting a 30.9% usage rate in his last four games, the former Duke Blue Devil has really turned it up for the Pelicans on the offensive side of the ball. Across 35.2 MPG, Ingram has posted 30 PPG on 54.2% shooting while taking over 20 FGA per night, while also chipping in over 5 RPG and 5 APG. With everyone prioritizing the Hornets and Joel Embiid, Ingram makes for an interesting pivot in NBA tournaments tonight.

Tyler Herro ($7,000 DK / $6,800 FD)

If I’m not rostering Kyle Lowry tomorrow, you can almost guarantee that I roster Tyler Herro. By now, you all should know how I feel about the third-year pro, and with both Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo sidelined, Herro will be tasked with logging a hefty number of minutes while also carrying the load on offense for the Heat versus the defending NBA champions. With both of his teammates off the court, Herro sees an increase in FPPM from 1.07 to 1.12, while also seeing his already astronomical usage rate of 29.3% off the bench rise to 31.5%.

Honorable Mentions

  • Zach Lavine ($10,500 DK / $9,100 FD)
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. ($7,500 DK / $6,800 FD)

Small Forwards

Anthony Edwards ($8,400 DK / $8,300 FD)

Edwards draws a tough matchup versus one of the NBA’s best defenses in the Utah Jazz, but with D’Angelo Russell doubtful to suit up tonight, his volume will take a notable uptick. Averaging 19 FGA per night, Edwards actually leads the Timberwolves in usage rate at 27.4%, most notably over Karl-Anthony Towns. With DLo sidelined, Edwards sees a whopping 5.5% increase in usage rate, while also seeing his 1.08 FPPM rise to 1.26 in over 365 minutes of action.

Cody Martin ($5,000 DK / $5,000 FD)

One of the few chalk Hornets on this NBA slate that intrigues me is none other than Cody Martin. While he does not offer the flashy upside of Miles Bridges, nor the scoring punch of Kelly Oubre Jr, Martin has logged over 37 MPG for the Hornets since the majority of his teammates landed on the healthy and safety protocol list, while chipping in a 16.5/6/4 scoring line on 50% shooting.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Miles Bridges ($8,200 DK / $8,400 FD)
  • Dillon Brooks ($6,100 DK / $5,900 FD)

Power Forwards

Domantas Sabonis ($10,300 DK / $8,800 FD)

With the New York Knicks making a notable change to their starting lineup with Nerlens Noel drawing the start for Mitch Robinson yesterday, Sabonis has an even easier matchup on the inside. On the second half of a back-to-back, it’s possible we see Tom Thibodeau make more changes tonight, but Sabonis remains a primary pay up spot for us regardless on this NBA slate; I wrote up him for a few games in a row now, where he has a 20.8% usage rate in his last four with a 20.5/15.3/5.8 scoring line on 66.7% shooting. The Knicks rank 22nd in defensive rating thus far, including being 17th against the roll man in a pick-and-roll offense.

Tobias Harris ($7,600 DK / $7,600 FD)

A pure tournament play for me on tonight’s NBA slate, Tobias Harris presents us with a situation where he can provide leverage to both Joel Embiid and Kelly Oubre Jr. While most will flock to Embiid after the last game, and rightfully so; I even wrote him up for that one; Harris can chip into his ceiling while also only being $100 more than Kelly Oubre Jr, the leverage is too much to pass up on. Sporting a 25.2% usage rate against these same Hornets on Monday, Harris dropped 21/11/4 on a mere 38.9% shooting, hitting only seven of eighteen shots on the night. Should Tyrese Maxey miss his second straight for the 76ers, Harris will be someone to keep an eye on leading up to lock.

Honorable Mentions:

  • PJ Washington ($6,800 DK / $7,200 FD)
  • Evan Mobley ($6,400 DK / $7,300 FD)

Centers

  • Nikola Jokic ($11,900 DK / $11,000 FD)
  • Joel Embiid ($11,700 DK / $10,400 FD)

Honorable Mentions:

  • Nikola Vucevic ($9,500 DK / $9,000 FD)
  • Rudy Gobert ($8,500 DK / $8,800 FD)

We’re back with a new Tuesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Happy to have you today! There has been a lot of success in the chat so let’s hope that continues today! We have a nice 10-gamer for tonight’s slate, lots of different plays to look at!!! So, let’s get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 12/7 NHL slate, the slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get into it!

12/7 NHL Stack Report

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs 1
    Bunting – Matthews – Simmonds (FanDuel: $19,200 | DraftKings: $15,300)
With the news that Marner is going to be out of the lineup for a couple more weeks, you’ll have continued access to a super affordable top line for Toronto. As of late, Toronto has been one of the hottest teams in hockey and is coming into tonight as one of the biggest favorites on the slate. Either of Toronto’s top two lines are playable tonight but with Matthews on a six-game scoring streak which included a hattrick against Colorado, I am leaning towards the all-star centre with super affordable wingers for tonight’s slate.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Morgan Rielly (FD: $6,200 | DK: $5,200)
  2. Anaheim Ducks 2
    Milano – Zegras – Rackell (FanDuel: $16,200 | DraftKings: $13,000)
There’s so much that can be said about this line, they’ve been playing extremely well as of late, with multi point games over their last three and have are up against arguably one of the worst goalies in the league this season, Aaron Dell, who wont be helped by the fact that Buffalo is one of the worst defensive teams in the league this season giving up 3.75 GA/G and allowing almost 34 shots against a game. On top of that, they’re riding into tonight on a four-game losing streak. Despite Anaheim’s recent losses, this line has been on fire and for their price, its hard to not play them tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Kevin Shattenkirk (FD: $4,800 | DK: $4,300)

    Honorable Mention(s): TBL1 (Palat-Stamkos-Joseph), NSH1 (Forsberg-Granlund-Duchene), SJS1 (Meier-Couture-Dahlen), FLA2 (Reinhart-Bennett-Huberdeau), EDM1 (Hyman-McDavid-Puljajarvi)

(lots of games, lots of viable stacks)

12/7 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Ilya Sorokin (FD: $8,200 | DK: $8,200)
  2. Jack Campbell (FD: $8,100 | DK: $8,500)
Honorable Mention(s): Juuse Saros, James Reimer

Worst (Goalies to Target)

  1. Aaron Dell (FD: $6,800 | DK: $7,500)
    Honorable Mention(s): Ville Husso

12/7 NHL Wild Card Targets

Mikael Granlund (FD: $5,100 | DK: $5,400)
Granlund has truly been impressing me as of late. Aided by his linemates Matt Duchene, Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi. Granlund has soared to the top of the list in Predators point scoring which has included multiple four point performances. At the moment, he is also tied for third in the league for assists and is the classic case of iron sharpening iron (playing better because of the talent around him). I mainly like him in a stack tonight with one of his linemates mentioned above. They’ll also be up against the Red Wings who have been extremley shaky defensively this season, giving up 3.12 GA/G and over 33 shots against per game.
Honorable Mention(s): Pierre-Luc Dubois-Andrew Copp, Brandon Hagel, Anthony Cirelli, Seth Jarvis

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Auston Matthews

Winger Rickard Rackell

Defence Adam Fox

Goalie Ilya Sorokin

NBA DFS: Gems with Ghost and Adam 12/07

Fortunately, the Hornets are not on the slate tonight so hopefully, we get a relatively normal slate. What does stand out is the number of big names on such a short slate but as of now, we have no value to jam them in. It should create an interesting dynamic so let’s answer some questions in NBA DFS: Gems with Ghost and Adam 12/07!

Question 1: “Which approach are you taking when building a single lineup? Stars & Scrubs, Balanced, Game stack, etc.?”

Ghost: Unless more value plays open it throughout the day when injury reports get released, I’ll be going with one stud.

Adam: It doesn’t look like there is going to be an overwhelming amount of value, so it will likely be mostly balanced with just one stud player despite the star power on the slate. Of course, this is the NBA and that can change very quickly.

Question 2: “Which stud is a lock for you on this slate?”

Ghost: I’ll let the field worry about which combination of Luka Doncic, James Harden, and Kevin Durant they want to play; give me Dejounte Murray against the Knicks on the second half of a back-to-back/

Adam: Lock is a difficult word on a slate that includes Luka Doncic, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, and LeBron James. However, with every dollar in salary being important as we stand, playing Dejounte Murray at $9,500 is very appealing. Just from the fantasy points per minute respect, Murray is at 1.33. Harden and KD are at 1.32 and 1.34 and the only other player that is higher than Murray is Luka at 1.46. That extra $1,400 on DraftKings could be very important. Murray has only played one back-to-back so far but he played almost 35 minutes so that is not a concern.

Question 3: “Which stud are you most likely to fade in a single-entry contest or be underweight on in 150-max?”

Ghost: Should both LeBron James and Anthony Davis play, there’s a 0% chance I roster Russell Westbrook tonight in any format.

Adam: Russell Westbrook. He’s the player that most “doesn’t belong” in the elite salary range as long as the big three for the Lakers is active. He hasn’t exceeded 47 DraftKings points in the past three games and I don’t believe any other player in this range has a floor of 28 DraftKings points in 36 minutes.

Question 4: “If you had to pick one star and one value play to be in the winning lineup, who would they be and why?”

Ghost: Dejounte Murray and Derrick Rose. With Tom Thibodeau reportedly looking to make changes to the Knicks lineup, I expect him to rely heavily on a player whom he had been with for six seasons in Chicago and now reunited in New York.

Adam: Malik Monk and Murray. For the Lakers, Carmelo Anthony is questionable which would help Monk a little bit as the Lakers would need that shooting even more. On a slate that is currently starved for value, Monk stands out a bit with 33 and 29 minutes in the past two games and Boston is ninth in the frequency of 3-point shots given up. Monk is shooting 36.8% but he’s been hot lately, 50% in the last four games.

Question 5: “Give us a hot take for tonight’s slate.”

Ghost: Dejounte Murray leads the NBA slate in scoring.

Adam: Doncic and Harden have dueling triple-doubles with the Mavericks pulling out a close win and Harden not hitting value on his salary again.

Multiple small NBA slates this week with both Tuesday and Thursday only featuring three games apiece, but with 20 teams in action tonight, we’ll be taking our first look before things get too dicey leading up to lock. It’s Mojito Monday’s edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Point Guards

Dejounte Murray ($10,200 DK / $9,900 FD)

It’s always a great day when we get to roster one of the best point guards in the NBA – I said what I said. Dejounte Murray has not only led the Spurs to victories in four straight, rather, he has been simply stuffing the stat sheet. Sporting a 28.9% usage rate in his last six contests, Murray has posted a 21.5/9.7/9.3 scoring line on 44.3% shooting, where he also has a near triple-double every night. Facing a Phoenix defense that has been stout thus far will surely be a good test, but Murray just faced the league’s best unit in the Warriors, where he posted a 23/12/7 line in 37 minutes.

Chris Paul ($8,000 DK / $8,400 FD)

With Devin Booker still sidelined for the Phoenix Suns, we can take the discount on CP3 and run. One of the best to ever do it, Paul is seemingly having one of the best seasons of his career, pacing the NBA in assists as the only player to average 10 or more per game, with 10.1 per contest. He has an increase in FPPM from 1.18 to 1.24 with Booker off the floor, and will be tasked with starting another winning streak after their 18-gamer came to a halt against the Warriors the other night.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Darius Garland ($7,900 DK / $7,400 FD)
  • Dennis Smith Jr. ($5,300 DK / $5,000 FD)

Shooting Guards

Bradley Beal ($8,800 DK / $8,500 FD)

With Spencer Dinwiddie likely resting for the Wizards tonight on the second half of a back-to-back, I’ll take the buy low spot on Brad Beal. Realistically, I can sit here and discuss his poor shooting and passive offensive play as of late, but the upside is huge for someone that should be priced well above his tag on tonight’s NBA slate. In 3 games with Dinwiddie out this season, Beal has led the charge on offense with a 30.6% usage rate and 27.7 PPG on nearly 20 FGA per night.

Kelly Oubre Jr. ($5,800 DK / $5,800 FD)

With the number of players on the Hornets that were recently placed in health and safety protocols, we’re looking at what is seemingly a 7-man rotation in Charlotte for the upcoming NBA slate. With Oubre and Bridges leading the charge on offense, their sheer volume will place them on our shortlist once again.

Honorable Mentions

  • Desmond Bane ($6,800 DK / $5,800 FD)
  • Seth Curry ($5,300 DK / $5,600 FD)

Small Forwards

Miles Bridges ($7,700 DK / $8,400 FD)

Similarly to Kelly Oubre Jr, Miles Bridges is simply not priced accordingly with the number of Hornets out for this game. Leading the charge in a surprising victory against the Hawks last night, Bridges not only led his team in scoring, but he was also a defensive force with three steals and a block, being able to guard every position on the floor. A matchup versus the 76ers is no easy feat for a player of his style considering Embiid is waiting for him at the rim, but Bridges’ athleticism gives him an edge in his matchup versus Tobias Harris and Georges Niang.

Franz Wagner ($6,000 DK / $6,400 FD)

On a serious tear for the Orlando Magic, gone are the days of Franz Wagner being underpriced on NBA slates. Sporting a 22.8% usage rate across his last six games, Wagner has posted a 17/5.7/4.5 scoring line on 46.5% shooting, while logging 33.5 MPG for the Magic. The Warriors still boast the league’s best defensive rating, but with Wendell Carter Jr. having the tough matchup of the two primary offensive weapons alongside Cole Anthony, Wagner should find himself in soft spots all night long to hit his jumpers.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Josh Giddey ($6,800 DK / $6,200 FD)
  • Dillon Brooks ($6,400 DK / $5,900 FD)

Power Forwards

Domantas Sabonis ($10,000 DK / $8,300 FD)

Indiana is back to running their starters into the ground and we are absolutely here for it when it comes to their roles in our success in NBA DFS. Logging 37.5 MPG in his last three, Sabonis has been efficient on both sides of the floor, posting a 17.3/17 double-double average in that same stretch. Facing a Wizards team that will not only be on their second night of a back-to-back, but also rank 25th in the league in points allowed in the paint per game, Sabonis will have a field day with the Gafford/Harrell duo.

John Collins ($7,100 DK / $7,600 FD)

With the Hawks being on the second half of a back-to-back and already without both Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Andre Hunter, Collins will be tasked with playing a heavy dose of minutes as the roll man to Trae Young’s pick-and-roll offense. With the Timberwolves allowing the 9th most points per possession to the roll man, Collins, who ranks 4th in the NBA with 1.59 points per possession as the roll man, will be able to feast on the inside.

Honorable Mentions:

  • DeMar DeRozan ($9,300 DK / $8,500 FD)
  • Evan Mobley ($6,600 DK / $7,600 FD)

Centers

  • Nikola Jokic ($12,000 DK / $10,900 FD)
  • Joel Embiid ($11,000 DK / $10,400 FD)

Honorable Mentions:

  • Deandre Ayton ($7,400 DK / $7,700 FD)
  • Dewayne Dedmon ($5,000 DK / $5,900 FD)

Sunday night showdown time ladies and gentlemen! I hope that as you are all reading this you are looking at green screens across the board. Be sure to hop in discord to get all of the updated information leading up to the kick and take a look at our custom projections model to see where we are going to look for our flex plays. So without further ado, here is your WDS Stoweby’s Showdown Week 13 Broncos at Chiefs 12.5.

If you were here with us last season you may remember this disclaimer. Do not waste half of your budget or double down on showdown because you had a bad main slate. Unless you get incredibly lucky your best-case scenario is a chopped pot with a ton of people. Just throw a few lineups in and have fun while you have a little sweat going. If you go all in on a showdown and tilt because it didn’t work out, it is on you.

Vegas Script: Total: 46.5 Chiefs -8.5

Vegas is making it pretty clear, the Broncos are supposed to struggle offesively to keep up and the Chiefs should be ahead quite early. While I am usually inclined to agree, I would not be surprised to see the Chiefs come out and have one of their random struggle Sundays. All else being equal though, I do believe that the Chiefs get out big in the begining and the Broncos play a much too concervative game plan when trying to catch up and never really get themselves within distance of catching up.

Captains:

Chalk: Tyreek Hill, $16,200 (16-17%)

Based on our oprimizer the chalk captain on the even is non other than the Cheetah, and after 4 straight weeks with no less than 10 targets, including 18 targets in one of those I do not blame you. The numbers have been “meh” for the amount of voume so he is (a) underpriced for his upside and (b) due for a massive game. When it comes to the Chiefs we all know what they bring to the table so play your favorite.

Pivot: Javonte Williams, $11,400 (11-12%)

Finally, after 12 weeks we get to see what Javonte can do with the full work load. We also get the added benefit of a Chiefs defense that is historically mediocre against the run. I want to heap all kinds of platitudes and tell you guys and gals to go all in here. But we need to be aware the Chiefs could run away from this one early and Javonte will not get the workload we hope. But if this game does stay close there is an outside chance that Williams is the top raw points scorer on the slate. Do not play him in all of you lineups at captain but you need to have him inseveral of your builds as a captian. I can’t wait to see what this guy can do.

Contrarian #1: Patrick Mahomes: $18,600 (15-16%)

As I mentioned above, we all know what KC brings to the table. Mahomes has been very inconsistent this season but we all know his upside and the Broncos defense does not concern me in the slightest tonight. Would anyone be shocked if he threw for 350 and 3 td’s? No, ok me either.

Contrarian #2: Travis Kelce, $15,000 (11-12%)

The big three of the Chiefs are largely interchangeable in showdown contests but I had to put Kelce as the bottom of the three simply because Denver has covered tight ends very well all season As a matter of fact they are the 4th best in terms of DVOA against guarding tight ends. Kelce is no normal tight end though, and he can easily end the night with 11 targets, 8 catches for 119 and 2 TD’s but paying for all three studs on the Chiefs is gonna be a tough task so for that reason Kelce is at the bottom of the list for KC tonight.

Contrarian #3: Jerry Jeudy, $10,800 (5-6%)

Outside of Javonte I am grasping at straws with this offense. Teddy simply does not put up big games so it may be in your best interest to pick a different Denver wide receiver in each lineup, It just so happens that I am opting to lean on the talent of Jeudy and hope that Teddy decides to lean on him this week. You could just as easily go with Sutton or even Fant in this same scenario for the same reason. The Broncos will likely be playing from behing so you can leverage the low ownership of any of those pass catchers and and pray that they throw for the entire second half.

WDS Stoweby’s Showdown Week 13 Broncos at Chiefs 12.5. Flex plays:

  1. Patrick Mahomes
  2. Tyreek Hill
  3. Travis Kelce
  4. Teddy Bridgewater
  5. Clyde Edwards-Helaire
  6. Javonte Williams
  7. Jerry Jeudy
  8. Courtland Sutton
  9. Tim Patrick
  10. Noah Fant
  11. Mecole Hardman
  12. Chiefs
  13. Harrison Butker
  14. Mike Boone
  15. Broncos
  16. Darrel Williams
  17. Byron Pringle
  18. Albert Okwuegbunam
  19. Demarcus Robinson
  20. Eric Saubert
  21. Brandon McManus
  22. Blake Bell
  23. Kendall Hinton
  24. Josh Gordon
  25. Marcus Kemp
  26. Michael Burton
  27. Noah Gray

Kickers and defenses:

I’m not really interested in either of these defenses tonight. Teddy really is not prone to turning the ball over and the Broncos play uber conservative football. Even If the Chiefs get ahead big I do not really see them taking too many risks. Both kickers in Butker and McManus are low priced options for me to get close to double digit points if you are looking to load up on all of the obvious big name guys.

It is time folks and I hope WDS Stoweby’s Showdown Week 13 Broncos at Chiefs 12.5. helps you towards your goals. It is time to start digging into DFS and make sure that we have our processes in place for a successful 2021 NFL campaign. Only three games on tap today in the NBA but it does not come short of being just as wild as any other slate. The Charlotte Hornets have many players in COVID protocols, in addition to the Houston Rockets losing a key offensive weapon for their tilt against the New Orleans Pelicans. It’s a Seltzer Sunday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Question 1: “Which approach are you taking when building a single lineup? Stars & Scrubs, Balanced, Game stack, etc.?”

Ghost: There’s a handful of players available to us over the 9K range, while only one is over 10K; a balanced lineup is likely.

Adam: It may turn into a balanced night by default. With the Charlotte Hornets having Covid issues and Trae Young being listed as questionable, there may not be a player over $10,000 on DraftKings available to play. Furthermore, the $9,000 range is debatable if they are worth that salary.

Question 2: “Which stud is a lock for you on this slate?”

Ghost: Miles Bridges doesn’t necessarily qualify as a stud from a price perspective, but he’s my primary target at the top of the pricing grid right now. With LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Mason Plumlee, and Jalen McDaniels all placed in COVID protocols, Bridges will be counted on to play a heavy dose of minutes while leading the offense; with all these players off the court, despite the small sample size, Bridges sees an increase in FPPM from 1.06 to 1.19.

Adam: Spending in the $9,000 range may not be my favorite. The lone exception could be Christian Wood, since the Rockets are without Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green. In that scenario, he has a 31.7% usage rate and 1.53 fantasy points per minute. Given the Rockets playing at the fastest pace in the league and Wood playing 34 minutes last game, he’s likely going to be a focus.

Also don’t forget Miles Bridges. The Hornets are without LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, and Mason Plumlee so Bridges is going to have a bigger share in the offense. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to play three Hornets on such a short slate.

Question 3: “Which stud are you most likely to fade in a single-entry contest or be underweight on in 150-max?”

Ghost: Echoing Adam on this one, and it gives me tremendous pain to say that my boy Bradley Beal will not be in consideration for me tonight. Simply put, he just can’t seem to hit a shot over the last two weeks, and is notably shooting a horrendous 26.2% from behind the arc on the season.

Adam: Bradley Beal, and it makes me sad. He’s just not looking for his shot as much this season and while 20 shots per night is good, 23 per night from last season was better. It’s not that he’s suddenly a bad player but he’s not shown the same ceiling scoring under 23 points per night.

Question 4: “If you had to pick one star and one value play to be in the winning lineup, who would they be and why?”

Ghost: Miles Bridges and Armoni Brooks. You can see above for my Bridges reasoning, while Armoni Brooks will get the bulk of the duty as the Rockets’ primary ball handler with both Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green on the sidelines.

Adam: Ish Smith and Wood. We’ve outlined why Wood is such a strong play but Smith is going to take the place of Ball in the starting lineup. While DraftKings did price him up to $4,800, that’s not high enough. He leads in minutes while Ball is off the court and has a 24.5% usage rate. The fantasy points per minute are only 0.79 but his true shooting rate is also just 37.8%.

Question 5: “Give us a hot take for tonight’s slate.”

Ghost: Armoni Brooks goes for 10x value on this slate while having his best offensive performance of the season.

Adam: Clint Capela goes for the Barbara Walter Special (a 20/20 game) and scores virtually the same fantasy points as Wood for a cheaper salary.

NBA DFS: Gems with Ghost and Adam 12/4

There are just six games tonight and lock is not until 8 PM, so be sure to note that when building your lineups. There are also a lot of teams on back-to-backs so it’s a really great idea to be around close to lock. That is always the case but it’s even more important tonight. Let’s get into the plays that look great as we stand in the NBA DFS: Gems with Ghost and Adam 12/4 and find green screens!

NOTE – We’ll discuss the Bucks without Giannis in the power forward slot instead of talking about them in each position.

Point Guards

Luka Doncic ($11,500 DK/$10,500 FD)

The high end of point guard tonight has some seriously strong options but Doncic may be the best one. He’s coming from facing the 30th ranked defensive rating in the Pelicans last night to 29th tonight against the Grizzlies. Even if Kristaps Porzingis is back in action tonight (questionable), Luka is still sporting a 36.2% usage rate and 1.48 fantasy points per minute. The play-type data is excellent for Luka as well because he’s second in scoring as the ball handler in the pick-and-roll, while Memphis is bottom 10 in points allowed and points per possession defending the ball handler. Doncic is in another smash spot tonight.

Jordan Poole ($6,400 DK/$6,700 FD)

This is not to say that Steph Curry is likely to get shut down, but Dejounte Murray will draw the bulk of the defensive assignment. That could push a little more towards Poole tonight and he already has a 26% usage rate and 1.01 fantasy points per minute. Both Poole and Curry are in the top four in points scored off screens and shoot over 41.5%. San Antonio allows teams to shoot just under 40% and these players are both talented scorers. You can only play Poole in GPP and if your script includes Curry having a quiet game, but he could be a slate winner if he goes for 45-50 DraftKings points.

Honorable Mention

De’Aaron Fox

Value Spot

Shooting Guard

C.J. McCollum ($9,000 DK/$8,200 FD)

We already know that Anfernee Simons is out for the Trail Blazers, as is Damian Lillard. McCollum will need to do legitimately everything for the Blazers and in the 43-minute sample size this season, he has a 35.9% usage and 1.07 fantasy points per minute. That sounds very pedestrian but that’s with a 39.8% true shooting rate. I don’t need to tell you that McCollum is far more talented a shooter than that and even at $9,000, the usage is massive. Boston does not have the best perimeter defense and played last night, so McCollum could wind up being lower-rostered with Bucks chalk on the way.

Tyler Herro ($7,400 DK/$7,300 FD)

This is what Ghost wrote about Herro just yesterday –

With Jimmy Butler out for a few more games and Bam Adebayo out 4-6 weeks with a thumb injury, welcome to the Tyler Herro season. If you’ve been with us since he entered the NBA, you know how much I love his game, in addition to having a ton of preseason futures on him to win both Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player, which, I must say, are looking pretty good right now. Sporting a 29.6% usage rate on the season thus far, Herro sees that number increase to 32.6% with both Butler and Adebayo off the court, including a rise in FPPM from 1.07 to 1.18.

The Heat face the Bucks this evening and no team allows more 3-point attempts than Milwaukee (although the Heat are close). Herro will need to continue to carry the offense in this one and in GPP, Duncan Robinson will have a ton of chances to get hot from deep. Just understand that the floor is under 10 DraftKings points.

Honorable Mention

Value Spot (Not likely moving from McCollum, Herro, or Middleton)

Small Forward

Jayson Tatum ($9,800 DK/$9,700 FD)

The expectation would be that Jaylen Brown makes his return to the Celtics lineup tonight but even if he does, he hasn’t been playing that well. Tatum is still carrying the C’s as much as he can and he has a 32.4% usage rate and 1.21 fantasy points per minute. His true shooting is down a bit as well at just 50.2% but Portland can help that. They are in the bottom three in defensive rating and Tatum is fourth in points scored in isolation. Portland has defended that play type well so far but opponents have shot just 38.5%. That’s likely to go up and Tatum is under $10,000, which is a green light for me.

Dillon Brooks ($6,900 DK/$6,000 FD)

Is it finally the night we get Brooks right? He’s been on the end of two blowouts so far but hopefully, the Mavericks are up to the task. He will likely be asked to try and stick with Luka to the best of his ability and let’s not forget his usage rate is over 32% when Ja Morant is off the floor. Brooks is going to have a game where he scores 25+ real points and doesn’t leave the floor very often. This game checks the boxes of him needing to mirror Luka’s minute and try to score along with him, and I’m very interested.

Honorable Mention

Paul George (especially FD)

Value Spot

Power Forward

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Heat have no Jimmy Butler and no Bam Adebayo, which greatly reduces their defensive capabilities. Giannis rested in the least game so he should be ready to roll tonight and he’s averaging 1.70 fantasy points per minute. Miami is only 17th in rebounding as it is, which won’t get better tonight. Giannis has 18.4 rebounding chances per night and there’s going to be nobody to stop him inside. The Heat are in the bottom five in defending the isolation play type and Giannis has scored the fourth-most points. On top of that, Giannis is shooting about 5% lower this year than last year, which means he still has room to improve.

Well, that changed. Giannis is doubtful tonight and that means the trio of Bobby Portis, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday can be the focal point of our lineups. The defense of the Heat is still vulnerable and they all have a usage rate of at least 24.6% (Middleton is at 36.7%) and the fantasy points per minute are at 1.25 for the latter two while Portis has 10.7 on the season. None of them are priced up to where they should be in this scenario and I will have at least two, possibly all three together. We’ll refer to the model to see which secondary player(s) get the biggest bump but Grayson Allen has my attention with the Heat allowing a 48.5% 3-point frequency.

With the Bucks needing to be a priority and the other options that we can shuffle into this spot, Portis is likely going to be my guy here and either a value or a multi-position eligible player will be the main options.

Honorable Mention

Jaren Jackson Jr.

Value Spot

Center

Nikola Vucevic ($9,400 DK/$9,200 FD)

Unless the Bulls roll into this contest short a player, my plan is not to pay up for Vuc on this slate. With 2-3 Bucks, it doesn’t appear to be the best spend because all of Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine hover around 1.15 fantasy points per minute and bite into the ceilings. Still, the Nets are on a back-to-back and they’re going to have a tough time defending him. Vucevic has almost six touches in the paint this year and he can go out to the 3-point line. Brooklyn has been better guarding the paint at seventh in points in the paint allowed, but they are 20th in paint rebounds. I won’t be surprised if he’s around 45 DraftKings points, but not much higher.

Richaun Holmes ($6,000 DK/$6,800 FD)

The Kings could be without Harrison Barnes and Marvin Bagley tonight but even if they play, Holmes could be very sneaky tonight. Holmes averages 17.8 rebound chances per night and the Clippers are just 16th in rebounding total and 18th in rebounds allowed in the paint. He’s also ninth in paint touches and can keep up if the Clippers elect to go small. Holmes has an 18.6% usage and 1.13 fantasy points per minute so 30-32 minutes should pay off the price tag here.

Honorable Mention

Jusuf Nurkic

This article will focus on NHL Daily Fantasy picks for both FanDuel and DraftKings. Using advanced hockey metrics, slate analysis, and line by line evaluation, this article will point you towards what we think are the best plays for the night! Good luck!

Friday 12/3 NHL Breakdown

Happy Friday and happy December! We have a very nice little 5 game slate tonight that starts at our normal 7pm Eastern time. This one looks pretty straightforward, so let’s get right into it.

Goalies

Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets: The Jets and Hellebuyck get a home matchup with the Devils, who in their last five road games, have only been scoring 2.6 goals per game. Hellebuyck is much better at home, as are the Jets in general, giving up under 2 goals per game in their last five home games. The Devils can be a little feisty, but tonight, the Jets should be able to handle them.

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers: The Rangers have a very nice matchup at home against the Sharks tonight, and while the Sharks have been playing well, Igor has been a solid goalie for the Rangers. At home, he has posted a 1.8 GAA over his last five home games.

Bonus GPP Goalie Pick – John Gibson – Anaheim Ducks: John Gibson at home is always a solid play, especially because they never change his price. He usually comes in on the lower end of salary, and as long as that continues to happen, he should be a goalie to play in GPP. The Flames come into town tonight after a win against LA last night, and are on the back end of a traveling back-to-back. Gibson should see shot volume, and has a real shot for a win tonight.

Lines to Build Around

These lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Edmonton Oilers Power Play – Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins/Zach Hyman/Tyson Barrie: It’s no secret that most nights that Edmonton is on a slate, you play them. Tonight is that and then some, as the Oilers take on the Kraken in Seattle. This unit gets to face a Kraken team that is giving up almost four goals per game on the season. Even at home, the Kraken have given up 3.6 goals against over their last five home games. This unit is high powered, and they should be dominant tonight. McDavid/Draisaitl/Barrie are the core pieces, and you can use RNH and Hyman for value if needed.

Winnipeg Jets 1 – Mark Scheifele/Kyle Connor/Blake Wheeler/Neal Pionk: The Jets have been in a little bit of a slump recently, but they have a chance to right the ship tonight as the New Jersey Devils come to town. They look to be facing Jonathan Bernier in net tonight, and while he has not been playing poorly, he has not been great either. The Jets are a much better home team than they are on the road, so tonight is a good spot for them.

Vegas Golden Knights 2 – Nicolas Roy/Jonathan Marchessault/Reilly Smith/Alex Pietrangelo: The Knights have a nice little matchup tonight, and while the top line is in a good spot, this second line looks to be in a better spot. The second line should see mostly the Arizona top line tonight, which is a very nice plus matchup. Most people will flock to Edmonton and the Vegas top line, and this line should help get some leverage in tournaments.

High Risk Lines

These are plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Arizona Coyotes 2 – Barrett Hayton/Christian Fischer/Lawson Crouse/Shayne Gostisbehere: The Coyotes are an interesting GPP play tonight against the Golden Knights. They have been playing a little better of late, but have gotten fantastic goaltending. The Knights have been giving up 4 goals against over their last five road games, and Lehner has been less than average, with a 3.99 GAA over his last five games. Arizona is a very sneaky play tonight, and with all of the eyes on Vegas and Edmonton, this could be the leverage you need. The even strength matchup tonight looks very good for this second line, as they get the Vegas top line.

New York Rangers 1 – Mika Zibanejad/Chris Kreider/Kaapo Kakko/Adam Fox: The addition of Kakko to this line makes it a little more appealing, but the focus on this line is Zibanejad/Fox. Another really good way to stack the Rangers is to add Artemi Panarin in, creating a three-man stack with Zibanejad/Panarin/Fox. They are high risk because San Jose has been pretty good on the road this season. The Rangers are scoring 3.25 goals per game on home ice this season, making them a solid play.
