Another Monster NHL Tuesday slate

It’s Tuesday so that means another gigantic slate of games in the NHL tonight. We have eleven games on the schedule so there’s no time for me to ramble on, let’s just get into it!

NHL DFS: Goalies

Cash game/Single Entry
  1. Darcy Kuemper/Pavel Francouz (@ LA): Whoever starts for the Av’s on Tuesday is my top play in net. Los Angeles does have some firepower, but they are not an offensive juggernaught. Since the start of February, LA has averaged 3.1 goals per game (15 games), but they are averaging 34.6 shots on goal during that same stretch. I like the odds of a 35+ save performance and win for the Av’s goalies on Tuesday.
  2. Igor Shesterkin (vs Anh): Anaheim has been just brutal during their four game road trip, losing all four games. During this losing streak, Anaheim has scored just eight goals and has allowed an average of 32 saves per game.
  3. Sergei Bobrovsky (@ SJ): Another expensive goalie in another great spot. San Jose is pathetic offensively, averaging just 2.3 goals per game in their last 13 games. The only worrisome thing about the Sharks is that they also don’t shoot much so the save opportunities are limited for Bob in this game.

Other Options: Linus Ullmark (Bos), Thatcher Demko (Van), Mikko Koskinen (Edm)

GPP Plays
  1. Ilya Sorokin (@ Was): In his last nine starts Sorokin is 6-1-2 with just 16 goals allowed for a 1.77 GAA. During that same nine game stretch, Sorokin is also averaging just under 30 saves per game (29.4). I know Washington can be a dangerous team offensively, but with how good Sorokin is I am willing to take that chance on Tuesday.
  2. Connor Hellebuyck (vs VGK): Vegas has been reeling of late, losing seven of their last ten games. During this horrid stretch of games, the Golden Knight have averaged just 2.3 goals per game while allowing 34.9 saves per game. Hellebuyck has had a rough season, but this is a matchup that I just can’t ignore.

Other Options: Sam Montembault (Mtl), Tristan Jarry (Pit), Jake Oettinger (Dal)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

When it comes to a slate like this, there is no need to be cute or worry about ownership. We have 11 games, 22 teams, and about 198 forwards in play on this slate. Ownership will not be an issue. You can go ahead and build lineups with the top lines that we love to play, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Florida, and Edmonton. You can also stack the Dallas and Toronto game because we know how porous the Leafs D has been. All those teams’ top lines are in play and will be in my lineups most likely. The issue will be how do you fit them into your lineups together. A couple of those teams have some decent value plays to stack, mainly Florida, but outside of the Panthers, I don’t want much of the value from those teams. My goal today will be to point out a few of the best value stacks to go with the lines we love to play.

Boston Bruins Line 3 vs Chicago:

Trent Frederic/Charlie Coyle/Craig Smith

Of course, the Bruins’ top two lines are in play tonight, but those lines have not been nearly as productive as this line and I would prefer to stack the top lines mentioned above over them. Boston’s third line has been on a roll lately and I don’t see the Blackhawks slowing them down. Craig Smith has eight points in his last five games, seven of which have been goals. Both Coyle and Frederic have six pints during the same five games and all three are averaging over 13 minutes of ice time per game. This stack is still cheap, especially on DK where they will only cost you $8.9K in salary combined. I like playing all three of these guys, or even just as a two-man salary saver stack. You can add a defenseman to a two-man as well, both Connor Clifton and Mike Reilly are cheap and have been productive with shots on goal and blocked shot points of late.

***Please remember, when I say add a defenseman this does NOT mean play this as a four-man stack. There are 11 games on this slate, there is no reason to play more than three players from one team***

Monreal Canadiens Line 1 vs Arizona:

Mike Hoffman/Nick Suzuki/Brendan Gallagher

The Coyotes played last night with Scott Wedgewood tending the goal, which means Montreal should see Vejmelka in net so it is all systems go for the Habs tonight. Montreal’s top line doesn’t really fit the value category for me, but they are cheap enough, especially the wings, that you can make this work. Both Gallagher and Hoffman are in the low $3K salary range on DK. Hoffman has been the more productive of the two with six points in the last five games while Gallagher has been peppering goalies with 3.1 shots on goal per game in his last nine games and he has either hit the 5+ bonus or missed by 1 shot in five of those nine games. Meanwhile, Nick Suzuki is the expensive piece of this stack, but he has nine points (five goals) in his last five games and averaging 3.2 SOG. Similar to the Boston stack, you can use just two pieces here with a defenseman, I recommend either Jeff Petry or Chris Wideman. Both are cheap (on DK) and have been putting of fantasy points. Ben Chariot is the best play, but he is pricey on DK, but he is actually cheaper than Petry on FD so he is the better play there.

Other top stacks:

Chicago L1: DeBrincat – Strome – Kane. Dmen to use: Seth Jone, de Haad, McCabe

Winnipeg L1: Stastny – Scheifele – Wheeler. Dmen to use: Pionk, Dillon, Demelo

Nashville L1: Forsberg – Granlund – Duchene. Dmen to use: Josi, Fabbro, Ekholm

Vancouver L1: Pearson – Miller – Boeser. Dmen to use: Hamonic, Hughes, Ekman-Larsson

New Jersey L1: Sharangovich – Hughes – Bratt. Dmen to use: Severson, Hamilton, Subban

Some more value…

New York Rangers L2: Panarin – Strome – Hunt. Dmen to use: Trouba, Fox, Miller

Arizona L2: Crouse – Galchenyuk – Kessel. Dmen to use: Mayo, Gostisbehere, Stralman

Dallas L2: Benn – Seguin – Gurianov. Dmen to use: Klingberg, Lindell, Suter

New York Islanders L3: Bailey – Pageau – Palmieri. Dmen to use: Dobson, Pulock, Pelech

Showdown in the Canadian capital

Monday night is a one-game slate between the Coyotes and Senators. This is an interesting game because it features two of the league’s bottom feeders that have actually been two of our favorite DFS teams this season. These two teams met fairly recently in Arizona with the home team winning 8-5. This will be a tough game to gauge because it depends on the goalie starting for Arizona.

Karel Vejmelka has been awful since the end of January. In eleven games since January 22nd, Vejmelka has allowed 41 goals which is an average of 3.72 goals per game. Scott Wedgewood is 5-4 in nine starts (10 appearances) since January 21st and has allowed just 2.7 goals per game in that stretch. Wedgewood did allow five goals to Ottawa in that game back on March 5th but did get the win. If Vejmelka starts, then I want to load up on Ottawa in my builds, but if it’s Wedgewood, then I could see a path to play him or go with a more balanced approach by stacking both teams.

NHL Bets:

I don’t have any bets for this game.

NHL DFS: Showdown

Ottawa Senators:

When I look at both teams, I think it makes more sense to pay up for the Senators and use the value that Arizona has to build. Ottawa’s top line is my favorite line in this game, especially Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris. Over their last five games, both have been on fire for Ottawa. Norris has four goals in the last five with three coming on the power-play and Tkachuk has added three goals of his own with one on the power-play.

You’ve probably figured out where I’m going with this, a Senators pwer-play stack is where I think we should be looking. Arizona has allowed 16 power-play goals in their last 23 games, while Ottawa has scored eight power-play goals in their last 13 games. Tim Stutzle has one goal and six assists in his last five with four points coming on the power-play. Thomas Chabot is the point man on the power-play and while he only has two points on the PP in his last 5 he does have 16 shots on goal in his last five games. Colin White is the one value piece on this power-play unit. Connor Brown plays on the second unit and on the top line with Tkachuk and Norris. Ottawa’s second power-play unit is much cheaper but not as effective as the top unit but if you’re building multiple lineups you can go there.

Arizona Coyotes:

Arizona has some great value on this slate, now of course if you want to pay up for the Yotes you most definitely can. Their top line of Keller/Boyd/Schmaltz is on a hot streak right now and will be in a few of my builds. If you’re building one lineup I think the strategy of paying up for Ottawa and using the Yotes value is the way to go.

Matias Maccelli is one place to start for Arizona as the center for line 4. The 21 year old Finn has only played five games but has one goal and four assists in those games. Maccelli also sees over 14 minutes per game and time on the Coyotes second power-play unit. Oh, I buried the lead, he’s min price on DK. Lawson Crouse skates with Maccelli on line three and is another good value piece to use as a two man. Crouse can also be used as a cheap piece on a PP1 stack with the top line. Dysin Mayo has been on a roll recently for the Yotes and is a cheap dman to use. Jakob Chychrun has flown back to Arizona with an apparent back injury. It will be interesting to see if we can an update for the second power-play unit on Monday. Nick Ritchie and Loui Eriksson are both on the fourth line, min price, and have put up good numbers of late. Ritchie also sees time with Maccelli on the second power-play.

It’s an all Canada affair…well, almost.

Welcome to the NHL Man Advantage for a Wednesday night! Tonight we have just two games on the schedule with the first being the Capitals on the second night of a back-to-back in Edmonton. In the late game, Montreal heads west to take on the Vancouver Canucks.

Since this is just a two-game slate, I will dissect both games individually and give you the top plays from each.

NHL DFS: Game by Game

Washington @ Edmonton

Goalies:

With Vanecek starting Tuesday’s game in Calgary, it should be Ilya Samsonov’s net on Wednesday night. Let’s not sugar coat it Samsonov has been horribly bad of late. In his last nine games (7 starts), Samsonov has allowed 2.56 goals per game and has a .886 save % while just winning three games. If we go all the way back to the start of 2022, Samsonov has won just four games in 14 appearances and his goals-against goes up to 2.79 per game. I am not playing Samsonov on Wednesday and I suggest that you don’t either

As for Edmonton, hopefully, we get Koskinen in net because he has been playing well lately. In Koskinen’s last eleven appearances he has a .920 save % and has won seven games. With a team coming in on a traveling back-to-back Koskinen would be a top play on this small slate. On the other hand, if Mike Smith starts then we are game stacking this game and only play goalies from the late game. Smith is bad, almost as bad as Samsonov has been and if it’s him in net then we attack.

Washington Capitals

Like I said when discussing the goalies, we need to see who starts to make a decision on how to build. If it’s Koskinen and you prefer going with a goalie from the other game I would suggest using the Washington depth scoring. Washington’s second line would be my favorite stack for value. They are inexpensive and work perfectly with an Edmonton first-line stack. Both TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom play on the first power-play unit so if we get Mike Smith pairing them with John Carlson or Alex Ovechkin would be a way to get exposure to Washington’s top players but in a different way than just stacking their top line. Conor Sheary can be used with Anthony Mantha and either Justin Schultz or Dimitry Orlov for a cheap PP2 stack as well.

Edmonton Oilers

As I mentioned above, I like the Oilers’ top line of Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, and Kailer Yamamoto. I did say that Koskinen could be the top goalie on this slate, I will have a lot of Demko in my builds so I do like the game stack in this game. Using Draisaitl and Kane with an Oilers defenseman and Capitals full second line stack is one of my favorite ways to build on this slate. Obviously, you can go with Connor McDavid and/or Zach Hyman with either or both of Kane and Draisaitl for a PP1 stack. Using McDavid will be popular, so fading him and hoping he stays off the scoreboard is ideal. Cody Ceci is the value dman of choice for me, and Darnell Nurse is the pay-up play.

Montreal @ Vancouver

Goalies:

Thatcher Demko is my favorite goalie on this slate. In his last 11 appearances (nine starts), Demko is 8-1 with a .919 save %. Now, Montreal has won seven of their last eight games but they are on the last game of a five-game road trip through Canada and could be tired and road-weary. I am not aware of who will be in net for the Canadiens at the time of writing, but whoever it is will be in play behind Demko and Koskinen.

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver is not an easy team to stack because a lot of their top players don’t see 5v5 ice time together. The Canucks top line of Pearson, Miller, and Boeser is the only one I would stack together. Luckily for us, Montreal has an atrocious penalty kill and they also take a lot of penalties. They recently allowed four power-play goals in a game against Winnipeg. Both Boeser and Miller play on the top power-play unit for Vancouver and are joined there by Elias Pettersson, Bo Horvat, and Quinn Hughes. Outside of the skaters I mentioned there isn’t much else I want to use from Vancouver.

Montreal Canadiens

Similar to Vancouver, the Canadiens’ top line is the best option. Nick Suzuki has been a tear of late with four goals and six assists in his last five games. Josh Anderson has three goals in his last five, and Cole Caufield has two goals and four assists in the Habs’ last five as well. Both Artrruri Lehkonen and Mike Hoffman are two top value plays and play together on PP2 with Ben Chiarot on defense. Brett Kulak and Jeff Petry are two other viable plays on defense.

Battle of Alberta!

Welcome to the NHL Man Advantage for a Monday night! Tonight we have five games on the schedule with the most prominent one being the battle of Alberta. Edmonton heads into Calgary to take on their fiercest rivals in the Flames. As for the remaining four games on this slate, they all appear to be pretty lopsided, the most of which being the Panthers heading to Buffalo who are on the second night of a back-to-back.

Toronto which has been on a roller coaster lately is in Columbus in what should be a win for them, Colorado is on Long Island, and Boston hosts Los Angeles who themselves are on the second night of a back-to-back as they end their four-game road trip.

NHL Bets:

Florida Panthers Over 4.5 goals: +155

Boston Bruins PL -1.5: +135

(I typically do not bet NHL and therefore may not place a bet on any or all of the above bets. Use caution when betting)

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Jacob Markstrom (vs Edm): Markstrom has been money pretty much all season for Calgary, but especially in his last ten starts. During that time, Markstrom is 8-1-1 with a .930 sv % (that is insane!) and one shutout. Edmonton has done well against Markstrom this season beating him both times they’ve played this season. We all know that Edmonton’s offense is potent, but they have lost five of their last seven and have been outscored 26-19.
  2. Sergei Bobrovsky (@ Buf): Buffalo as shutout by Petersen and the Kings Sunday afternoon, and although it’s unlikely to happen again Monday, it should be an easy win for the Panthers. My only concern with this play is that Buffalo does not shoot much so giving up a couple of goals could sin Bob. There is also another concern here, Florida plays in Pittsburgh on Tuesday so there is a chance Bobrovsky doesn’t play. If that is the case, we are off Florida goalies all together and then turn to Buffalo as a value play.
  3. Ilya Sorokin (vs Col): This is your risky play on the night, but there is some potential here. Sorokin just played this team six days ago, and while he did allow 4 goals, he made 38 saves earning the 35+ save bonus and 15.6 DK points. If you’re playing cash games or even single-entry maybe stay away, but if you are doing multiple lineups and want to stack the battle of Alberta (especially if Vladar starts over Markstrom) then Sorokin would be your best goaltenind option salary wise and upside wise.

Other Options: Francouz/Kuemper (@ NYI), Swayman (vs LAK)

Teams to build around:

I am going to tell you something you already know here, Florida is the top play on this slate and this is the team we are going to build around. Pretty much every time they are on the slate you have to focus on the Panthers. Today we also have the Avalanche on the slate with them so their ownership could actually be lower than usual because of this. All nine forwards in the top three lines for Florida are in play as is Patric Hornqvist because of his involvement on the second power-play unit. On defense for the Panthers, Ekblad, Montour, or Weegar can be used with stacks.

Looking at Colorado, they are entirely similar to the Panthers. The difference is though, for Colorado I only want to look at their top two lines. Colorado’s depth isn’t as deep as Florida’s is, so the value isn’t as deep either. I do think you can pair either of the Av’s top two lines with the Panthers’ 3rd line and get exposure to both teams.

*** Reminder *** When I say stack that does NOT mean you need to stack the FULL forward line, you can but you don’t need to. You can either stack TWO forwards w/a defenseman, all three forwards, or just do a mini two-man stack.

Who else can we play?

We know we want exposure to Florida and Colorado, but you can’t only play those two teams, so we need some other spots that we can use with them.

The first place I want to look is Calgary. You could legitimately put the Flames as a team you want to build around with Florida and Colorado, so why not run a stack with those teams. It is actually pretty easy to do so because the Calgary depth is cheap (on DK). You can easily run a Col1, Fla3, Cgy2 lineup with Markstrom if you so desire. All three of Coleman, Mangiapane, and Backlund are underpriced on DK and easily fit with any combination of the aforementioned Colorado and Florida lines.

Boston is another team that works well with the others mentioned in this article. Any of their first three lines are good options on Monday. The obvious play is their top line, especially the value play of Jake DeBrusk. If you need some real value, a two-man stack of Trent Frederic and Craig Smith from L3 allows you the savings needs to pay up elsewhere. Boston also has some cheap defensemen in Mike Reilly and Brandon Carlo

If you’re not playing Markstrom in net, then you can also use Edmonton as a secondary stack or for a game stack with Calgary. Of course, Connor McDavid is always in play, but I actually prefer to go with line 2 from the Oilers as a stack. Both Evander Kane and Leon Draisaitl have been playing well with three goals each in their last five. Kailer Yamamoto has been good for his price as well picking up shots on goal and blocked shots.

Other Stacks:

Toronto L1: Bunting – Matthews – Marner

Columbus L1: Laine – Jenner – Nyquist

Los Angeles L2: Arvidsson – Danault – Moore (make sure to check for an update on Arvidsson as he left Sunday’s game)

New York L1: Bellows – Pageau – Palmieri (Value stack)

If Johansson starts for Florida, both Buffalo L1 and L2 are in play.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

…and down the stretch they come!

We have made it to March and the home stretch of the NHL season. There are now less than two months left in the NHL season and only three weeks until the trade deadline.

Tonight we have nine games on the schedule after just three games on Monday. I love the NHL but their schedules are just so strange. Both Boston and New Jersey put up seven goals on Monday and are back at it tonight in matchups that are just as juicy for them. Both teams will be high on my list of stacking options and it’s the same lines as last night. If you weren’t here yesterday take a look back at my article to see what I am talking about with New Jersey.

As for the other seven games on the schedule tonight outside of Calgary at Minnesota, no other matchup features two current playoff teams so this appears to be a very lopsided slate. My goal is to give you some of the best options to focus your builds around on Tuesday in brief breakdowns, unlike yesterday when I spent time focusing on one game essentially.

NHL Bets:

Edmonton goals scored O3.5: +105

Cole Caufield Over 0.5 points: -120

Boston Bruins Puckline -1.5: +125

(I typically do not bet and therefore may not place a bet on any or all of the above bets. Use caution when betting)

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Top Ranked (SE/Cash) Goalies:
  1. Frederick Andersen (@ Det): After an up and down start to February, Andersen has righted the ship and has reeled off three excellent starts. We saw Detroit put up 7 on Toronto Saturday night, but that was against Jack Campbell and the Leafs and while Andersen used to play there, he is much better than Campbell right now. In those previous three starts, Andersen has allowed just four goals and averaging 28.7 saves per game, including 1 shutout. I know he is more expesive then I prefer to pay for a goalie, but Andersen has what I see as the best matchup on the slate.
  2. Francouz/Kuemper (vs NYI): I don’t care who starts for Colorado on Tuesday, they will be in one of my lineups. Contrary to their last game, the Islanders offense is putrid. They rank 27th in the league in goals scored and Colorado has been outstanding at home this season (17-7-2). I would prefer if Francouz got the start since he has been playing better than Kuemper, but either goalie is a good start tonight.
  3. Linus Ullmark (@ Anh): The Ducks are in a tailspin and Boston should have another easy go of it, similar to Monday night. Ullmark has not been spectacular of late for the Bruins, but he projects as one of the top plays on the slate. Anaheim is allowing over 30 saves per game to goalies in their last 10 and Ullmark is in my preferred $8K and under price range.
Value/GPP Goalies:
  1. J.F. Berube (vs NJD): I know I mentioned the Devils in the open, but Berube is a goalie with immense upside even if he gives up a few goals. Columbus has allowed 42.5 shots per game in his four starts and he is averaging 39.3 saves per game. This is a risky, GPP only, type of play but to get that elusive takedown, sometimes you gotta take that risk.
  2. Matt Murray (@ TB): This is another high risk, high reward type of play. Murray has had a coupe of shaky starts after having five great starts in his previous six games. Tampa is a high powered, potent offense that will put a few past Murray on Tuesday, but the shots will be there to make value. Tampa Bay is averaging 31.9 SOG P/G in their last five and in Murray’s last five starts the Senators have allowed 35.2.

Other Options: Connor Hellebuyck (vs Mtl), James Reimer (@ VGK)

Teams to build around:

There are so many ways to go on this slate and with 18 teams on the schedule tonight, one thing I will tell you is DO NOT worry about ownership. Of course, there will be a few teams that may be a little higher owned than the rest, but nothing that drastic that you should fade a team in GPP’s.

These are three lines that just pop off the screen to me as the top lines to build around on this slate.

Colorado L1: Burakovsky – MacKinnon – Rantanen (This MAY change after the morning skate, check the lines in the afternoon before building lineups.) Dmen to use: Makar, Toews, Girard

Carolina L1: Teravainen – Aho – Svechnikov. Dmen to use: Pesce, Skjei, Slavin, Cole (value)

Boston L1: DeBrusk – Bergeron – Marchand – This line TORE the King apart on Monday including a hat-trick from DeBrusk. I am going right back to them tonight. Dmen to use: Reilly, Carlo, McAvoy

**NOTE**: On a slate this large stick to no more than THREE-MAN stacks. You want to try and get exposure to as many teams as possible so going with a three-man stack, two two-man stacks, and a one-off play is something I do recommend tonight when I typically don’t. Of course, you can build however you like, but this is just something I have noticed working in the past for slates this large.

Roster construction:

Now, after you pick 1-2 teams to build around in your lineups, you will need to fill in the rest of your lineups. My preference would be to use Boston/Carolina as your two main stacks to build around because there is more value there and you can work in a good two-man stack and one-off play. You won’t need to dig too deep in the value bin to make that work.

One thing I will recommend is, and this goes back to the “note” above, don’t one-off your defenseman. I see a lot of lineups in discord with a one-off cheap defenseman. While that does work sometimes, typically forwards have more upside, especially centers. Try to correlate your defenseman with a forward and do not worry about what line a defenseman is listed on. They will spend time on the ice with all four forward lines, but you should look at the power-play lines and see if they play together there first. If you need some salary savings it is perfectly ok to pick a value dman, say someone like Ian Cole (Car) tonight. He is min price on DK and will see time with the top line throughout the night. This lowers your correlation but gives you the salary bump needed to get a better one-off forward.

Other top stacks:
  • Minnesota L1: Zuccarello – Eriksson Ek – Kaprizov. Dmen to use: Spurgeon (PP1), Merrill
  • Tampa Bay L1: Kucherov – Point – Palat. Dmen to use: Hedman (PP1), Sergachev, McDonagh
  • Columbus L1: Nyquist – Jenner – Laine. Dmen to use: Kukan, PEeke, Gavrikov (all three are pretty cheap)

You can use any of those three lines as full stacks, or as one forward – one defenseman stacks as well. They can also be used as your main stacks to build around, especially the Wild stack IF Vladar starts for Calgary.

It’s value time!

With the value stacks, I am going to give you some of my favorite two-man combos that can be used to fill out your lineups.

Top Priced Stacks:

  • McDavid/Draisaitl (Edm)
  • Blake Wheeler/Kyle Connor (Wpg) – PP1 stack
  • Timo Meier/Brent Burns – Dman (SJ) – PP1 stack
  • Matthew Tkachuk/Johnny Gaudreau (Cgy)
  • Dylan Larkin/Moritz Seider -Dman (Det) – PP1 stack
  • Jack Eichel/Shea Theodore -Dman – (VGK) – PP1 stack

Value Priced Stacks:

  • Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier/Jesper Bratt (NJ) – PP1 stack
  • Blake Coleman/Christopher Tanev – Dman or Mikael Backlund (Cgy)
  • Jonathan Marchessault/Brayden McNabb – Dman (VGK)
  • Jake Evans/Artturi Lehkonen (Mtl)
  • Zach Parise/Ryan Pulock – Dman (NYI) – PP2 stack
  • Matthew Tkachuk/Tyler Toffoli (Cgy) – PP1 Stack
  • Oskar Lindblom/Scott Laughton (Phi)

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

It’s a Mini-Monday slate

Tonight we have just three games on the slate that locks 30 minutes late than usual. In the early games, Vancouver is on a back-to-back in New Jersey one night after throttling the Rangers. Toronto, fresh off dropping 10 on the Red Wings, heads to D.C., and in the late game, Boston is in Hollywood.

NHL Bets:

Bruins puckline (-1.5): +185

Auston Matthews over 1.5: +170

Jack Hughes over .5: -200

(I typically do not bet and therefore may not place a bet on any or all of the above bets. Use caution when betting)

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Jeremy Swayman (@ Los Angeles)

Swayman has won three straight starts and four of five and I fully expect the Bruins to win again on Monday as they continue their West Coast trip. What worries me is how stingy the B’s are defensively. Swayman has only had one game this season where he surpassed the 35 save plateau (bonus on DK). Looking on the bright side, Los Angeles is a team that shoots the puck a lot. If he was going to have a second 35 save performance, tonight could be the game for it. I know it doesn’t seem like much to love about this play, but on a slate this small, there isn’t much to choose from.

*** If Linus Ullmark gets the start, he is still the top goalie on the slate as well. ***

Other Options: Jaroslav Halak (@ NJ), Petersen/Quick ( vs Boston), Mrazek/Campbell ( @ Washington)

Teams to build around:

As I have mentioned already, this is a small slate with not a lot to really pick from with only three games on it. I believe that the Leafs/Caps game will garner most of the DFS attention and probably be the popular game to attack. That is not necessarily a bad idea after what we saw Toronto do on Saturday and what we saw them allow to Detroit. Since that will potentially be the popular way to go, let’s break down another path that could be successful.

Vancouver Canucks @ New Jersey Devils: Game stack

New Jersey themselves gave up eight in their last game after dropping six on the Penguins the night before so they have recently shown they can put up goals in bunches and allow them as such. In their eight-goal drubbing in Chicago, the Devils did score five of their own. So, eleven goals for and nine against in their last two games, that sounds like a team I both want to stack and attack.

Jack Hughes has been on fire since returning to the lineup. In his four games since coming back, he has three goals and six assists, and points in all four. Hughes also has hit the shoots on goal bonus on DK twice and has put up over 20 DKFP in all four games. Playing with Hughes on the top line is Yegor Sharangovich who himself is on a six-game point streak and three-game goal streak. Sharangovich has four goals and five assists during his current streaks. Rounding out the top line is Dawson Mercer with just two goals and two assists for the Devils in his last three games.

New Jersey is unique in that there are so many ways to stack them. Only Hughes plays on the top power-play unit from this line. He joins Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt from the second line (also a GREAT stack tonight with Pavel Zacha), and Nathan Bastian from the fourth line. On defense on that unit is Damon Severson. As for Sharangovich and Mercer, they are on the second unit with the aforementioned Zacha, Tomas Tatar, and Dougie Hamilton. If you are looking to find some value on defense, and I know you are, Jonas Siegenthaler is near min price on DK and is coming off a three-point performance in the Devils’ last game.

…”and now do Vancouver”

As for the Devils’ opponents tonight, the Canucks are fresh off a five-goal performance last night at MSG. Now, we usually don’t use a team’s fourth lines but every night I tend to see the Canucks fourth line pop up as a potential stack but I never go there. It’s a fourth line, what kind of value can they have? Well last night you would’ve been wise to do so, Juho Lammiko netted his 6th goal of the season, and Matthew Highmore also scored a goal and added an assist. They are joined by Tyler Motte on this line who adds the ancillary points (blocked shots, SOG). This is by no means the only way I want to attack the Canucks tonight, but instead, I just wanted to show some love to a line that can be useful tonight in the expensive Leafs/Caps game stacks.

Vancouver’s top 2 lines have pieces that are good, but as a whole, they have not been productive lately. Elias Pettersen is killing it now with eleven points in his last four games but his linemates on the second line have not chipped in. Both Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser have three points in their last five, but only one goal from linemate Podkolzin. As two-man or one-off plays, they are fine, but I am not looking to stack their lines or the power-play from Vancouver (NJ ranks 8th in PK% and is one of the least penalized teams in the league).

It’s the Canucks third line that I have interest in on Monday. They are the most expensive stack from Vancouver but they are the best stack and it starts with JT Miller. During his current six-game point streak, Miller has four goals and nine assists, including two last night. Tanner Pearson is on his own four-game point streak with three goals and two assists during this streak. Lastly, Conor Garland is not on a point streak, but he has three goals and an assist in his last 5. All three of these guys are top plays on this slate for me and my preference is to stack Pearson and Miller with Travis Hamonic on defense. Hamonic hasn’t scored much, but he has hit the shots blocked bonus three times in the last five games.

Other top stacks:

Boston L1 and L2: You can use either of these lines as a three-man unit or take two forwards to pair with a defenseman. Dmen to use: Reilly, Carlo, McAvoy

Toronto L1: Bunting – Matthew – Marner. Dmen to use: Rielly, Liljegren, Brodie

Los Angeles L1 or L2: Similar to Boston, if you want to run these as full lines that is fine or you can use them with a defenseman in a two or three-man stack. Dmen to use: Doughty, Roy, Durzi

Washington L2: Snively – Backstrom – Wilson. Dmen to use: van Riemsdyk, Orlov, Carlson.

Obviously, any line Ovechkin is on can be in play, but he has not been productive like his typical self lately and I don’t know if I am comfortable paying that salary on a small slate with so many other great options.

It’s value time!

There is not a lot of value on this slate, but these are a few lines along with Vancouver L4 you can use.

Toronto L3: Kerfoot – Kampf – Mikheyev

Washington L4: Hathaway – Dowd – Hagelin

Los Angeles L4: Kaliyev – Lizotte – Lemieux

New Jersey L3: Tatar – Boqvist – Johnsson

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

Happy Twos-day!

Happy 2/22/22 Tuesday, and to stick with the two theme the NHL gave us..wait…six games? Oh well, would have been fun if it was two, but six is a better slate anyway.

This slate was made for me, we have a Forsberg Tuesday in the same game as the Panthers (Hello game stack!), coupled with John Gibson night as the Ducks host San Jose! Well, that’s the article, good luck tonight! No, I’m kidding obviously, I should at least give you one more team for value purposes. Three of the teams on this slate are on the second night of a back-to-back with both Toronto (@ CBJ) and Seattle (vs NYI) having to travel while Philadelphia stays home but welcomes St. Louis. The aforementioned Nashville at Florida game is the game of the night and we have Minnesota in Ottawa as well.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Kaapo Kahkonen/Cam Talbot (@ Ottawa): I have decided to just put both Minnesota games because it seems every week I write up a Wild goalie and they decide to start the opposite one. Both of these goalies have been great at some point this season for Minnesota, for me Kahkonen should be the guy but there is more money invested in Talbot, so yeah. Either way Ottawa is a pretty soft matchup for Minnesota and should result in a good fantasy day for whoever starts.
  2. John Gibson ( vs San Jose): Gibson is my favorite goalie, personally not just in fantasy, and there is a good chance he goes completely overlooked on this slate. San Jose has been putrid of late winnning just two of their last ten and scoring an average of 2.5 goals per game. I know Gibson is also in a bit of a rut, losing four of five, but he did win his last start and prior to that he won three of four allowing just 8 goals in that stretch.
  3. Ilya Sorokin (@ Seattle): We picked on them last night with Demko and he did well, so why not go back to the well again. Similar to Gibson, Sorokin is in a slump of late but this matchup with Seattle could be one to snap him out of it. Prior to losing four of his last five, Sorokin won seven of eight starts allowing just 16 goals and posting a .919 save %. There is a good goalie in there, he just needs to bring him out and tonight is the night for it.
  4. Ville Husso (@ Philadelphia): This is me trying to wish these into existence, because of the Blues start Binnington then I switch up and add some Philly stacks to my lineups. Husso is the clear better goalie in this tandem, but similar to Minnnesota there is more money tied up in Binner so they want to give him every chance to succeed. If it is Husso, he is unbeaten in regualtion in February (3-0-1) and has only allowed nine goals and put up a .913 save %. Philly did score three times on Monday and played overtime in that game so they could have some tired legs.

Other Options: Sergei Bobrovsky (vs Nsh), Jack Campbell (@ CBJ), James Reimer (@ Anh)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

Nashville/Florida Game Stack

This game has a 6.5 O/U and I don’t see the under hitting tonight. Both teams can score goals in bunches, especially Floriday at home. Looking at the home team first, their top line of Duclair – Barkov – Huberdeau is the top line on this entire slate, and for good reason. Duclair is the “weak” link on this line with just two goals and an assist in his last four games. As for Barkov and Huberdeau, they have been on fire seemingly all season. Huberdeau is riding a seven-game point streak during which he has one goal and eleven assists and as for Barkov, he has five goals and six assists during Huberdeau’s seven-game point streak himself. You can use both Sam Bennett and/or Aaron Ekblad with pieces of this line to make a PP1 stack as well.

Even though I wrote up a long paragraph on line one, it’s actually line three that is more interesting to me. Mason Marchment has been making a name for himself this season and has nine goals and seven assists since January 25th (eight games). Joining him on line three is Anton Lundell who himself has a goal and seven assists in the club’s last five and Sam Reinhart who has his own six-game point streak with five goals and five assists during his point streak. Outside of Ekblad on defense, you can use MacKenzie Weegar or for value, you can go with Brandon Montour who is on the second power-play unit with all three forwards from line three.

On to Nashville…

I am only interested in using the Predators’ top line because their depth scoring isn’t as fruitful as the Panthers are. Filip Forsberg is the centerpiece of any Nashville stack with five points and four shots on goal per game in his last five. Matt Duchene has six goals and three assists in his last eight games while Mikael Granlund has just one goal and three assists in his last seven. If you only want to run a two-man here then it should be Forsberg and Duchene. If you are going with the Panthers’ third line as a stack you can fit Roman Josi in on defense with Forsberg/Duchene. That is probably going to net you the rights point total. If you are looking to use value on defense, Dante Fabbro is the best option, you can also look at Alexandre Carrier.

More stacking options:

Minnesota L1: Kaprizov – Hartman – Zuccarello (I prefer using Eriksson Ek or Boldy over Hartman for a PP stack). Dmen to use: Brodin, Merrill, Kulikov, Spurgeon (PP1)

St. Louis L2: Buchnevich – Thomas – Tarasenko. Dmen to use: Parayko, Krug, Faulk

Columbus L1: Voracek – Jenner – Laine (I love this line for a low-owned stack or just pieces). Dmen to use: Werenski, Gavrikov, Peeke

Toronto L1: Marner – Matthews – Bunting (big let down last night, lowers ownership?) Dmen to use: Rielly, Brodie

Philadelphia L1: Lindblom – Giroux – Atkinson (less interested in Husso starts, but if it’s Binnington then all systems go!) Dmen to use: Sanheim, Ristolainen, Braun

New York Islanders L1: Lee – Barzal – Palmieri (not overly expensive on either site and could be a late-night hammer) Dmen to use: Dobson, Aho, Chara

Bargain Bin!

Toronto L3: Kase – Kampf – Mikheyev

Anaheim L1: Milano – Steel – Terry Dmen to use: Mahura, Shattenkirk, Drysdale

St. Louis L3: Barbashev – Schenn – Sundqvist

San Jose L2: Balcers – Couture – Nieto Dmen to use: Burns, Ferraro, Vlasic

Columbus L2: Nyquist – Sillinger – Bjorkstrand

New York Islanders L2: Beauvillier – Nelson – Bellows

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

Holiday hockey (for those of us states side)!

It’s a holiday here in the states so that means daytime hockey! This is actually one of the strangest slates I’ve ever seen with five games all starting at five distinct times. This also may be the longest slate we’ve ever had with the first game starting at 1 pm eastern (Colorado @ Boston) and the last game dropping the puck at 10 pm eastern (Seattle @ Vancouver)

There is one team that is going to be the chalk or all chalk on today’s slate, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto is a great play on the road in Montreal who is coming home after a road win on Long Island on Sunday. For me, the Leafs’ top line (Marner – Matthews – Bunting) is one of the top plays on this slate. I expect them to be some of the highest owned players on the slate along with defenseman Morgan Rielly but I do think there is one line that I prefer to stack on this slate and they will be much lower owned.

*** As a reminder, this article will be based around the 5 game slate on DraftKings. FanDuel has separated the schedule into two slates and has the three early games as their main slate***

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Jacob Markstrom ($8,400) : Markstrom is not only the best goalie on the slate, he is the best play at home versus WInnipeg. If there is a downside to Markstrom today, it’s that the Flames have been solid defensively recently and are not allowing shots (Markstrom has just 25.6 saves per game in his last 8 games). Winnipeg is averaging nearly 32 shots on goal per game in eight February games so that is a positive.
  2. Thatcher Demko ($7,900): Even though I ranked Markstrom higher, Demko is my favorite goalie on this slate. Demko has had a couple of bad starts back-to-back, he is due for some positive regression. Seattle is only scoring 2.3 goals per game in their last 10 games, and Demko is allowing 2.3 in his last nine appearances. During that same 9 game stretch, Demko has a .923 save %. I see this as a bounce back game for the Canucks netminder that will also be an extremely low owned play as the last game on the slate.
  3. Frederick Andersen ($8,200): I love the price and the matchup for Andersen on Monday. Even though the Canes played in Pittsburgh on Sunday and are in Philly today I still think they win on Monday. Andersen has been stellar all season but is probably having his “roughest” patch currently losing three (two in OT) of his last 11 games. I do expect Andersen to carry some owenrship based on this matchup, but not as much as the next goalie on the list.
  4. Petr Mrazek ($8,500): This play is here because of his recent performances. After a slow start to the season, Mrazek has won four of five and has the perceived easiest matchup. If I am being honest, I may not have any exposure to Mrazek (depending on how many lineups I make) on Monday because I expect him to be the chalk play. If you know anything about me when it comes to goalies, you know I don’t like paying high salaries for my goalie also.

Other Options: Darcy Kuemper ($8,300), Jeremy Swayman ($8,000)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

I have previously mentioned the Maple Leafs as a top play and the overall chalk of the slate, so you won’t see them here, but know they are a great option tonight and will be in my lineups.

Calgary Flames: Tkachuk – Lindholm – Gaudreau

Calgary has a home matchup with the Jets on Monday as mentioned in the goalie section, and I am expecting their top line to have a great day. All three of these guys are on fire over the team’s last five, well over the entire season. My favorite play of this stack is actually Elias Lindholm ($7.5K). I know, I am shocked too, but Lindholm has six goals over the Flames last five to go with four assists and averaging 3 shots on goal per game. This stack s expensive ($22.4K – $300 less than the Leafs’ first line) but there is a ton of value on this slate that makes it easy to use.

If you want to pay up elsewhere (plenty of options for that as well) the Flames second (Mangiapane – Backlund – Coleman) and third lines (Toffoli – Monahan – Lucic) are good value stacks. On defense, Rasmus Andersson is the PP1 captain and the pay-up spot, but I much prefer the value of Christopher Tanev and Erik Gudbranson.

Vanouver Canucks: Garland – Pettersson – Pearson

Not only do I want to use Demko, but I definitely want plenty of exposure to the Canucks skaters as well tonight. Vancouver’s second line projects as one of the top value lines on this slate and again will probably be low owned. Both Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson have been on fire of late with Pettersson having eight points in the Canucks last five and Garland a point per game player in that same stretch. I think the ideal way to use this stack is to pair up the two Canucks I just mentioned with Travis Hamonic on defense. While he has not picked up a point in his three games since returning from injury he has hit the shots blocked bonus is back to back games and is averaging 10.7 DKFP per game since his return.

If you care to spend up on the Canucks, their top line (Miller – Horvat – Boeser) is a more expensive, but equally as good play. As for the dmen, both Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Quinn Hughes are in play but again more expensive.

Other top stacks:

Colorado L1: Landeskog – MacKinnon – Rantanen Dmen to use: Makar, Toews, Erik Johnson

Carolina L1: Svechnikov – Aho – Teravainen Dmen to use: DeAngelo, Skjei, Slavin

Boston L1: Hall – Bergeron – Pastrnak Dmen to use: Reilly, Carlo, Grzelcyk

Colorado L2: Nichushkin – Kadri – Burakovsky (can be used as value with a cheap dman in place of Kadri)

Winnipeg L1: Wheeler – Scheifele – Stastny Dmen to use: Morrissey, Stanley, Dillon

Bargain bin!

Toronto L3 (ok, so Toronto does show up here): Mikheyev – Kampf – Kase Dmen to use: Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie

Montreal L1: Caufield – Suzuki – Anderson Dmen to use: Petry, Romanov, Kulak

Carolina L3: Niederreiter – Staal – Fast

Philadelphia L2: van Riemsdyk – Laughton – Konecny Dmen to use: Provorov, Sanheim, Braun

Seattle L3: Donskoi – McCann – Donato Dmen to use: Giordano, Dunn, Fleury

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

Happy Forsberg Tuesday!

Welcome back to another Filip Forsberg Day! Tonight Nashville hosts the Capitals, the team that drafted Forsberg. That matchup is one of the premier games on the slate. We also have Boston at MSG to take on the Rangers and the Stars traveling to Colorado. As for the remaining six games on the slate, they don’t seem as big but are still good games for us to target in DFS.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Igor Shesterkin ( vs Boston): Boston is a one-line team essentially and with 2/3 of that one line out the lineup they don’t pose much of a threat. Shesterkin is having a great season for the Rangers as well and this matchup just screams big night for the Russian.
  2. Juuse Saros ( vs Washington): You all know I love Saros and while he has burned me a few times this season, more often than not he is one of the top goalies on every slate. Since the start of the new year, Saros is 9-4-2 while averaging 34.3 save per game. Saros is not expensive on either site tonight and once again has the potential to be the top goalie on the slate
  3. Jacob Markstrom ( vs Columbus): Markstrom is actually cheaper on FanDuel today, so he might be the better play over there tonight. Either way, Markstrom is one of the top goalies in the NHL this season and leads the league in shutouts (8), doubling up the goalie with the next most. Markstrom has a home matchup with Columbus tonight so a 9th shutout is not out of the realm of possibilities.
  4. Matt Murray ( vs St. Louis): This is your super risky, high reward play of the night. Murray has been absolutely stellar since returning from injury on January 1st. Murray is averaging just 2.2 goals per game and making 33 saves per game in his 10 games since January 1st. If you remove the 6 goals he allowed on 1/1 to Toronto his goals-against goes down to 1.7. This is risky like I said but Murray has held his own against teams like Pittsburgh, Edmonton, Carolina, and Washington lately so why not tonight against the Blues.

Other Options: Pavel Francouz, Tristan Jarry, Andrei Vasilevskiy

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

Colorado Avalanche

I know this may upset some people, ok one person (sorry GravMatt) but Colorado is one of the top teams on the slate. There are teams with “easier” matchups than Colorado but Dallas has been porous defensively in recent games. In their last 6 games, Dallas has allowed four goals or more in five of them, including four to Colorado on Sunday.

If you know anything about hockey, then you know the Av’s top line is one of the top lines in all of the NHL, but also one of the most expensive ones to stack in DFS. They are the best play on this slate but since they are so obvious I want to look for some value as well to get you exposure to Colorado in other ways especially for those playing on FD. For value, I will look to line 2 from Colorado. Both Valeri Nichushkin and Andre Burakovsky are affordable and have been playing well for the Avs. Nichushkin has four points and is averaging 4 shots on goal in the Av’s last five games and Burakovsky has three assists in that same span. Nazim Kadri has seven points in the last five for the Av’s, but he is only a play on DK because FanDuel does not know what they are doing and has him priced at $10K (second-highest on the slate).

Other Value: Both JT Compher and Logan O’Connor play on the third line and kill penalties for Colorado. They are both min price on DK and in the $4K range on FD. If you need some cheap plays to fill out a lineup they are viable.

Defensemen: Cale Makar is the top dman for the Av’s but his production has not been matching his price lately. Devon Toews has been more productive from a DFS aspect and is much cheaper (on DK) so he is my preferred play. Erik Johnson and Samuel Girard offer up some decent value.

Buffalo Sabres

I know what you’re thinking, but Buffalo has been better offensively in the last ten games. They are not the sexiest team and I am probably taking a big risk suggesting them tonight but with so many top teams on this slate, they will go overlooked and could give you a shot at a takedown. Jeff Skinner is coming off a four-goal game on Sunday and both Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch have been equally as hot. Since Tuch debuted for the Sabres on 12/29 it has turned this team in the right direction. Tuch himself has 17 points in his 15 games with the Sabres including five multi-point games. Buffalo’s problem isn’t scoring, it’s stopping teams from scoring so this is a game stack consideration as well.

Sabres Dmen: Rasmus Dahlin (PP1), Casey Fitzgerald (cheap and productive)

If you want to stack the Isles with Buffalo tonight, I would suggest their third line. This line has been as productive as the top two lines in the team’s last five games and comes at a much lower price. If you are just looking at a two-man stack, then Zach Parise (PP2) and Oliver Wahlstrom (PP1) would be my suggestion. On Defense, Noah Dobson (PP1) is the Isles’ top fantasy defenseman, but Ryan Pulock (PP2) is right behind Dobson production-wise and much cheaper.

Top Stacks

Pittsburgh L1: Guentzel – Crosby – Rust (all 3 on PP1), Dmen to use: Letang (PP1), Matheson, Dumoulin

Nashville L1: Forsberg – Granlund – Duchene (All 3 on PP1), Dmen to use: Josi (PP1), Ekholm (PP2), Carrier

Dallas L1: Robertson – Hintz – Pavelski (All 3 on PP1), Dmen to use: Lindell, Heiskanen

Calgary L1: Gaudreau – Lindholm – Tkachuk (All 3 on PP1) – You can use Monahan as a PP1 value piece over one of the forwards. Dmen to use: Tanev, Hanifin (PP2), Andersson (PP1)

Tampa Bay L1: Kucherov (PP1)- Point (PP1) – Palat (PP2). Dmen to use: Hedman (PP1), Sergachev (PP2), Ruuta

Value Stacks:

Calgary L2: Mangiapane (PP2) – Backlund (PP2)- Coleman – This stack may change if Toffoli is active on Tuesday. Watch for updates on the Flames lines on Twitter or in discord.

Los Angeles L2: Moore – Danault (PP2) – Arvidsson(PP2) Dmen to use: Doughty(PP1), Moverare, Durzi

Ottawa L2 (Especially if Binnington plays): Formenton (PP1) – Paul (PP2) – Connor Brown. Dmen to use: Zaitsev, Holden, Chabot (PP1)

New Jersey L1: Sharangovich (PP2) – Hughes (PP1) – Zacha (PP1). Dmen to use: Graves, Severson (PP1), Smith PP2)

New York Rangers L2: Panarin(PP1) – Strome(PP1) – Goodrow(PP2). Dmen to use: Fox (PP1), Lindgren, Trouba

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s Valentine’s Day so why don’t you put down the phone and go spend time with your significant others… oh, no, you’d rather spend it playing NHL dfs? Ok, whatever you want.

Tonight is a four-game slate that has a later than usual start time of 8 pm eastern. This slate features a couple of potential lopsided matchups in the first two games on the slate and two matchups of teams still trying to figure out who they are in the late games.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Cam Talbot (vs Detroit): Talbot is the top goalie on this slate for me and honestly, it isn’t even really close. In his four starts since returning from injury Talbot is unbeaten, has allowed only five goals, and shut out the Blackhawks. Detroit is no offensive juggernaught and even though they put up four on Philly on Saturday I am not worried.
  2. Jack Campbell ( @ Seattle): On the opposite end of the spectrum from Talbot is Jack Campbell. In his last six games Campbell has not been good, except for his win over New Jersey on Feb 1st. Campbell is still a good play and has the perceived best matchup on the slate with Seattle. Petr Mrazek has been playing much better than Campbell lately and may get the start, if so you can safely roll with him too.
  3. Connor Hellebuyck (vs Chicago): Hellebuyck is similar to Campbell, solid goalie who has had a rough patch of late. In January, Hellebuyck was bad, but since February 1st he has been much improved. In four starts, Hellebuyck is 2-2 with eight goals allowed and a shutout. Hellebuyck has also stopped 31 shots or more in three of those four starts. It looks like Helly is starting to heat up along with the Jets and I will definetly have some shares of him tonight.
  4. James Reimer (vs Edmonton): Both the Sharks and Reimer shoud be will rested as this is their first game in 13 days. I don’t love this play, but he is a good upside GPP play at home against the Oilers. We all know Edmonton has been struggling to score with only eleven goals in their last five games.

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

Toronto Maple Leafs:

Toronto’s offense has been stymied some in their last two games, but those were against two top goalies in Markstrom and Demko, tonight is not one of those goalies. In their four games prior, Toronto scored 24 goals, including seven goals twice. Toronto should pick apart the Seattle D tonight and have a monster game offensively.

One positive about the Leafs is, outside of Auston Matthews, they aren’t overly expensive on either site. You could also make a case for stacking any of the top three lines and you could also use pieces from their fourth line as well.

Toronto L1: Bunting (PP2) – Matthews (PP1) – Marner (PP1)

Toronto L2: Kerfoot – Tavares (PP1) – Nylander (PP1)

Other options: Mikheyev (PP2), Kase (PP2), Spezza (PP2)

Defensemen to use: Morgan Rielly (PP1), Rasmus Sandin (PP2), Justin Holl

Minnesota Wild:

Minnesota is similar to Toronto where they haven’t been their best offensively, but a home matchup with the Red Wings should be able to turn things around. The Wild have only scored three times in their last two, but in the previous eight, they scored three or more goals in all eight. After Toronto’s top line, the first line for the Wild is next as far as projected points rank, but they are a more expensive stack. You can replace Ryan Hartman (PP2) with either Joel Eriksson Ek or Matt Boldy to save some salary for a PP1 stack with Kaprizov and Zuccarello. Both Eriksson Ek and Boldy is cheaper than Hartman, significantly so on DraftKings.

Minnesota’s second line has been more productive of late, featuring the aforementioned Boldy. Both Kevin Fiala and Frederick Gaudreau are point per game players in the team’s last five games with Fiala also seeing time with Hartman on the second PP unit.

Defensemen to use: Jon Merrill (Value), Jonas Brodin (PP2), Jared Spurgeon (PP1)

Other stacking options:

Edmonton L2: Kane (PP1) – Draisaitl (PP1) – Yamamoto. Dmen to use: Ceci, Nurse (PP2), Barrie (PP2)

Winnipeg L1 and L2: L1: Stastny (PP2) – Scheifele (PP1) – Wheeler (PP1), L2: Connor (PP1) – Copp – Perfetti (PP2). Also, you can use Pierre-Luc Dubois with the guys from PP1. He has been hot with 5 points in his last five but is centering line three

Dmen to use: Dillon, Schmidt (PP2), Heinola (value).

Detroit L1: Raymond (PP1) – Larkin (PP1) – Zadina (PP2). Dmen to use: Seider (PP1), Oesterle, Staal (value)

Value Stacks:

San Jose L2: Balcers – Couture (PP1) – Dahlen (PP2). Dmen to use: Burns (PP1), Meloche

Seattle 2: Jarnkrok (PP1) – Gourde (PP2) – Appleton (PP2). Dmen to use: Dunn (PP2), Fleury, Giordano (PP1)

Chicago L1: Kubalik (PP2) – Strome (PP1) – Kane (PP1). Dmen to use: de Haan, McCabe, Seth Jones (PP1)
