Welcome back to another exciting season of CFB Bowl Season! Thank you to those who have followed my articles over the course of the regular season. But now it is time for my favorite time in CFB and that’s the bowl games.

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

The Captains

Michael Penix Jr, UW (DK 17.4K/ FD 16K)

Penix finished second in the Heisman voting this season for a reason. He has outplayed every superstar QB placed in front of him, like former Heisman winner Caleb Williams and Oregon’s Bo Nix. For his first CFP game, he will have to do it one more time as he leads the Huskies against the Ewers and the Longhorns. I don’t think Penix could have asked for a better matchup, as he led Washington to 1st in passing yards per game this season, and he will take on the 93rd-ranked pass defense. The Texas pass defense has given up over 250 passing yards in more than half their games this season and has given up over 300 in five games. Unless Texas finds ways to improve their defense over the past month, this should be a great spot for Penix.

Quinn Ewers, UT (DK 16.5K/ FD 15K)

We talked about the Huskies QB, but it was time to turn to the Longhorns QB. Just like his counterpart, Ewers couldn’t have asked for a better opponent to make his CFP debut. The Huskies had the 12th worst pass defense this season, giving up 263.2 yards per game and allowing 22 passing touchdowns. Ewers has the weapons to punish the Huskies secondary, especially with Worthy being able to return from his injury suffered in the Big 12 title game. He will need him, as this game with two explosive passing offenses should make for a high-scoring affair.

Rome Odunze, UW (DK 15.6K/ FD 14.5K)

The best WR in this game and probably the best in CFB not named Marvin Harrison Jr. Odunze elevated his game to new heights this season and was one of the main reasons that his QB came close to winning the Heisman. Odunze finished second in CFB with 1428 receiving yards and sixth in receiving touchdowns with 13. Like I mentioned with Penix, Texas has a bad pass defense, so expect Odunze to be able to find room to work with during the Sugar Bowl.

Value Cpt Options: Ja’Tavion Sanders, UT. CJ Baxter, UT. Jack Westover, UW.

The Flex Plays

Xavier Worthy, UT

Ja’Tavion Sanders, UT

CJ Baxter, UT

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

The Captains

Blake Corum, Mich (DK 16.8K/ FD 15.5K)

Starting with the best player on the slate. Corum had a bit of a letdown year this season as he just went over the 1K mark on 218 carries. But the fourth-year RB came back to Michigan this season on a mission. Last season, a knee injury during the regular season prevented him from playing in Michigan’s playoff loss to TCU. This year, he is healthy and looking to prove a point that he would have given Michigan a win last year. In front of him in the Rose Bowl is Alabama, a rush defense that ended the year ranked 31st in yards allowed per game on the ground. Alabama’s tough rush defense on paper may look to cause an issue for Corum, but Corum this season has taken on five teams that finished better than Alabama. In those five games, Corum ran for 432 yards and eight touchdowns on 90 carries. For Michigan to have a chance to take out Alabama and reach the CFP National Title game, Corum will have to serve as the leader of the offense.

Jalen Milroe, BAMA (DK 17.4K/ FD 16.5K)

Milroe would have been a Heisman finalist if the voters only took games after November 1st, as the Alabama QB became one of the best QBs the last month and a half of the season. On DraftKings, Milroe had three 30+ fantasy point games in his last five, while over on FanDuel, he just missed his third 30+ by.96. This matchup is going to be extremely difficult for both Michigan and Alabama, as the Michigan defense ranks in the top five in both passing and rushing defenses. But I trust a veteran HC like Nick Saban to have Milroe ready to go off against Michigan.

Roman Wilson, MICH (DK 13.5K/ FD 11K)

Wilson has been Michigan’s best WR this season, and I don’t expect that to change in the playoffs. Wilson finished as the team leader in yards (662) and touchdowns (11) as well as being second in receptions (41). He should be able to find space in the Alabama secondary, as Alabama should look to try and stop Corum early, which will give McCarthy and Wilson some room to work with, especially in the early parts of the game.

Value Cpt Options: Colston Loveland, MICH.

The Flex Plays

JJ McCarthy, MICH

Jermaine Burton, BAMA

Isaiah Bond, BAMA

Jase McClellan, BAMA

Donovan Edwards, MICH

Colston Loveland, MICH

Will Reichard, BAMA

Drago’s Best Bets:

  • Alabama ML
  • JJ McCarthy O13.5 Rushing Yards
  • Colston Loveland O33.5 Receiving Yards
  • Isaiah Bond O52.5 Receiving Yards
  • Jase McClellan Any Time Touchdown

CORE 4 Plays:

There is a clear route that I want to take in most of my lineups on Saturday’s slate. That route is focusing on Georgia who is taking on an unrecognizable FSU side and pairing them with players from the other games.

  • Carson Beck, QB
  • Daijun Edwards/Kendall Milton, RB
  • Jeshaun Jones, WR
  • Jacquez Stuart, RB

After FSU was somehow kept out of the CFP by a bunch of people in a room, most of their players decided to skip out on the Orange Bowl. So that means that the defending two-time champions will have to take on a team full of backups. One of the areas where FSU is going to be hurting the most is in their front seven. FSU will have to find ways to stop two good Georgia running backs without five players who have played a combined 2K snap this season. Either Edwards or Milton should be in every lineup, as both will see a lot of work during this game. To pair with them, I like the Maryland passing game even with the younger Tagovailoa opting out, as their opponents Auburn will be without two of their better DBs for this game.

Drago’s Best Bets:

  • Penn State -4.5
  • Maryland +6.5
  • Not touching the Georgia Game
  • Toledo vs Wyoming O44.5

DK/FD Price
CORE 4 Plays:

There are two routes I want to take in my core. The first one is using Memphis with an Iowa State runback.

  • Seth Henigan, QB
  • Roc Taylor, WR
  • Silas Bolden, WR
  • Jayden Higgins, WR

The other route that I want to take for my core is the opposite using Iowa State with a Memphis runback.

  • Rocco Becht, QB
  • Jaylin Noel, WR
  • Abu Sama lll, RB
  • Roc Taylor, WR

Both of my possible core fours are based around the Liberty Bowl. The Iowa State versus Memphis game has the highest game total at 57. This game should see a lot of points as on one side you have a Memphis offense that ranks 13th in passing yards against a weaker Iowa State pass defense. During the regular season Iowa State was the 54th best pass defense which puts them in the top half but they will be without key players in their secondary. DBs Verdon and Nikkel have both missed the end of Iowa State’s season and are doubtful for their bowl game. Meanwhile CB TJ Tampa who has been one of ISU’s best defenders has opted out. The Henigan to Taylor connection should find a lot of space to operate.

With the other core Iowa State’s offense has been a lot better since Sama became their lead back. The freshman finished the season has their leading rusher with 610 yards on 72 carries. His explosive rushing ability should open up space for QB Becht to work on picking apart a Memphis pass defense that is bottom 20 in CFB.

Drago’s Best Bets:

  • Clemson -4
  • Notre Dame ML
  • Iowa State vs Memphis Over 57
  • Missouri vs Ohio State O49

Welcome back to another exciting season of CFB Bowl Season! Thank you to those who have followed my articles over the course of the regular season. But now it is time for my favorite time in CFB and that’s the bowl games.

The purpose of this article is to break down the college football main slates both on the DFS and betting sites. The article includes my favorite plays at every position as well as honorable mentions. You can also find my favorite bets under my Dragos Best Bets section.

The QBs

Noah Fifita, ARIZ (DK 7.4K/FD 11.2K)

The freshman QB has been one of the biggest surprises this CFB season. He took over the starting role after the original starter, Jayden de Laura, was hurt early in the season and has led Arizona to one of their best seasons in recent memory. Fifita gets the 97th-ranked pass defense in his first bowl game start. This season, against pass defenses that are ranked in the bottom 50, like Oklahoma, Fifita is averaging 315.5 passing yards and three touchdown throws in six games. Despite being the highest-priced QB on DraftKings, he is still relatively cheap, so I am locking him in as my core QB for the slate.

Who to pair him with: Tetairoa McMillan. Jacob Cowing. Tanner McLachlan (value pair)

Jackson Arnold, OU (DK 7.3K/ FD 9.8K)

With Oklahoma’s starting QB, Dillon Gabriel, transferring to Oregon, it is time for the Arnold era to start in Norman. Arnold was a 5-star recruit out of Guyer High School in Texas and was ranked the 4th best QB of his class, only behind Arch Manning, Nico Iamaleava, and Dante Moore, who are the future QBs of Texas, Tennessee, and Oregon, respectively. Arnold didn’t see much time, even in relief, this season, as he only attempted 24 passes all year. He gets a decent matchup for his first start, as Arizona is ranked 72nd against the pass and gives up 229.6 yards per game. In his lone season as a high school starter, Arnold threw for 3383 yards and had an 11-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio (33:3).

Who to pair him with: Drake Stoops. Nic Anderson.

Honorable Mentions: Brennan Armstrong, NCST. Jacurri Brown, MIA

The RBs

DJ Giddens, KSU (DK 6.7K/ FD 10.4K)

The slate is full of good rush defenses, as the worst of the six teams is Oklahoma’s 58th-ranked defense. But since we need at least two RBs, I want to focus less on targeting bad defenses and instead on guys who will have a huge workload. 44.2% of KSU’s total rushing attempts have entered the transfer portal, so Giddens, who led the team with 195 attempts, should see an uptick in his already heavy workload. NC State’s rush defense has been great all year, but they have struggled against good running teams.

Mark Fletcher Jr., MIA (DK 5.5K/ FD 7.3K)

Rutgers has the third-worst rush defense on the slate, giving up 137.8 rushing yards per game. Meanwhile, Miami comes in as the 41st-ranked rushing offense. The leader in carries for the Canes is Fletcher, who finished with 25.2% of their total attempts while racking up 24.1% of their total rushing yards. Miami’s second-leading rushing attempt leader, Chaney, has left Miami for the transfer portal, so while Parrish, who is Miami’s third RB, will see more work, Fletcher should be the biggest beneficiary of the 29% of attempts lost by Chaney and starting QB Van Dyke leaving the team. If you need $400 on DraftKings, then Parrish is a solid pivot.

Honorable Mentions: Michael Wiley, ARIZ. Kyle Monangai, RUT.

The WRs

Xavier Restrepo, MIA (DK 6.6K/ FD 8.3K)

Like I mentioned with Fletcher, Miami will be without a large part of their offense, and that includes their starting QB. To add to their missing firepower in the run game, Miami has also lost 20% of their receptions from the season, with players like Colbie Young transferring out of Miami. But a bright spot for Miami is that Restrepo is available, and he should be the main focus for inexperienced QB Jacurri Brown. His 74 receptions and 993 yards put the Canes in both categories.

Christian Dremel, RUT (DK 4.3K/ FD 6.2K)

A value play at WR, Dremel was Rutgers best WR this season. I will say Dremel is a risky play, but I think Rutgers will need more than just RB Monangai to be able to compete with the Canes. The Hurricanes give up over 220 passing yards a game, and while the Rutgers are the seventh worst passing team in CFB, when they throw, Dremel is the guy. He accounts for 25.8% of the team’s total receiving yards and 25.1% of their receptions. A big plus for Dremel is the absence of Miami’s leading tackler, James Williams, who is their starting safety.

Kevin Concepcion, NCST (DK 7K/ FD 9.6K)

He is one of the best WRs in CFB, and I don’t think he gets enough credit for what he has done this season. The freshman ranks 74th in receiving yards despite being on a team that struggles to throw the ball. Concepcion has also found success helping NCST’s run game, as he has 297 rushing yards to go along with his 767 receiving yards. His 1064 all-purpose yards were the fifth most by a freshman this season. I love his matchup against Kansas State’s 70th-ranked pass defense, especially with their safety Kobe Savage missing the game as he is KSU’s best-tackling DB.

Honorable Mentions: Jayce Brown, KSU. Will Swanson, KSU. Trent Pennix, NCST.

Drago’s Best Bets:

  • Miami ML
  • KSU -2
  • Arizona -2.5
