THE SLATE
NASCAR Cup Series is back today with the Supermarket Heroes 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. The green flag is set to drop at approximately 3:30 p.m ET.
This race is 266.5-miles, or 500-laps on this 0.533-mile race track.
It takes approximately fifteen seconds to complete a lap at this track, at a speed between 120 and 130 miles per hour.
Seven drivers finished on the lead lap, last time out at Bristol.
The optimal lineup last time out at Bristol included Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Matt DiBenedetto, and Daniel Hemric. The salary range for these drivers was $6,500 to $13,000, the total score was 476.7 points, and the remaining salary was $1,000.
Be sure to include the race winner in your lineup, drivers that finish on the lead lap, drivers with positive place differential, and capture laps led points, if necessary.
FRONTRUNNERS
CHASE ELLIOTT ($13,000, +475) – The favorite to win this race, after Kyle Busch, Elliott will be starting from the sixth position today. Elliott is coming off a Cup Series and Truck Series win this week at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and is ranked third in the driver standings.
Pivots: KEVIN HARVICK ($12,200, +750; starts 8th)
DENNY HAMLIN ($12,000, +750) – Denny has two victories this season, and is coming off a second-place finish in Charlotte. Hamlin will be starting from the tenth position and offers some salary relief from his more expensive Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.
Pivots: KYLE BUSCH ($14,000, +450; starts 7th); MARTIN TRUEX JR. ($12,500, +1100; starts 5th)
JOEY LOGANO ($11,700, +800) – Logano is second in the driver standings and will be starting third today. Starting third increases Logano’s risk of negative place differential, but positions him to have the opportunity to take the lead early in this race and capture laps led points. Logano’s price offers some salary relief from the other studs on this slate.
Pivots: BRAD KESELOWSKI ($12,300, +1000; starts 1st), ALEX BOWMAN ($11,400, +1800; starts 11th)
CAPTURE THE UPSIDE
JIMMIE JOHNSON ($10,000, +2200)- Johnson is starting twenty-fourth today, and offers positive place differential upside. Johnson has the capability and car to finish the top fifteen today.

CLINT BOWYER ($9,000, +2500) – Bowyer is starting twenty-third today, and offers positive place differential upside as well. Bowyer recorded two top-tens at Bristol in 2019, and also has the capability to climb to a top fifteen finish.
Pivots: MATT KENSETH ($8,000, +3500, starts 14th), TYLER REDDICK ($7,300, +6600; starts 21st), AUSTIN DILLON ($7,000, +15000; starts 20th)
DANIEL SUAREZ ($4,000, +30000) – Suarez is starting thirty-seventh today, and offers positive place differential upside at a minimal price.
Pivots: BUBBA WALLACE JR. ($5,000, +35000; starts 36th), CHRISTOPHER BELL ($6,000, +15000; starts 35th), RICKY STENHOUSE JR. ($6,200, +4500; starts 16th)
STARTING A LITTLE TOO HIGH
NOTE: Avoid rostering drivers that will finish lower then they started.
Keselowski, Truex, and Blaney all face an increased risk of negative place differential due to their high starting positions.
Stenhouse faces an increased risk of negative place differential due to inconsistency in performance.
Additional drivers that were not listed due to the increased risk of negative place differential include William Byron, Matt DiBenedetto, Aric Almirola, Ryan Newman, Chris Buescher, Cole Custer, John Hunter Nemechek, and Michael McDowell.
NON-LEAD LAPPERS
NOTE: Avoid rostering drivers that will not finish on the lead lap.
The following drivers have not finished on the lead lap of a 2020 Cup Series race: Timmy Hill, Garrett Smithley, B.J. McLeod, Gray Gaulding, Joey Gase, Brennan Poole (exception for Daytona 500), Quin Houff, J.J. Yeley (exception for Fan Shield 500), and Bayley Currey.
Ryan Preece has finished on the lead lap in 2 of 8 Cup Series races in 2020.
