North Carolina sports betting is now fully legal!
HB 347 was finally approved during the 2023 legislation session.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed House Bill 347 into law last June. Initially, the State Lottery Commission made January 8, 2024, the target date for taking sports betting live. But logistical hurdles pushed the start date back to March 11—the day before the ACC men’s basketball tournament began.
North Carolina online sports betting officially went live on March 11th, 2024. Residents can legally engage in online sports betting activities through various licensed operators.
This is perfect timing since North Carolina is college basketball country with both UNC and Duke in play as usual for the NCAA Tournament. Most of the state’s neighbors have already legalized sports betting so now people in North Carolina won’t be forced to travel.
