Welcome to the NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for the NASCAR Cup Series. Below you will find my rankings for the drivers in this race.
A Group: Drivers I will have the most exposure to and are high-priority
B Group: This group is drivers I feel have a high upside and are great filler pieces to pair with the A Group
C Group: The drivers in this tier are risky but could still be optimal. This group should be used in GPP’s
F Group: These drivers are on my do not play list
(Starting position in parenthesis)
Drivers highlighted in yellow are potential dominators

Notes:
- Another road course means another week of not chasing dominator points. Like last week at Indy, we are looking for a driver with PD upside and high finishing potential.
- Two of the drivers who have high finishing potential and PD upside are Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. Both are two of the top road course drivers on the series and both start in the teens on Sunday. The difference is Elliott needs to win to make the playoffs while Truex could settle for a top 5 and be sitting pretty heading into the playoffs.
- Michael McDowell dominated last week at Indy and should be in contention again after what I saw his car do in practice on Saturday. McDowell has four top 10s in the last six road course races as well as having the best avg running position in that span (7.6).
- Denny Hamlin has finished top 5 in three of the last five Watkins Glen races. Nobody was able to touch his time in qualifying yesterday and as long as nothing happens to his car, he should be the heavy favorite to win on Sunday.
