NHL Picks for PrizePicks (Apr. 4)

Welcome to Monday’s edition of NHL Picks for PrizePicks, where we’ll be going through tonight’s slate to try to find some easily attainable props.  Thankfully, PrizePicks has blessed us with a free square tonight!

Let’s dig in and see if we can make some money.

NHL Picks

Brady Manek – .5 Points Over – Well Over

This isn’t an NHL pick, but it’s our free square of the night.  PrizePicks has lowered their points prop on Manek down to just a half-point tonight from the original 16.5 points.  There’s a $10 limit on it, but make sure you lock this in as your first pick tonight!

Elvis Merzlikins – 3.5 Goals Allowed – Over

This is the same matchup we had Saturday night, and although we missed the prop I’m going right back to it.  We got a little unlucky on Saturday as the Blue Jackets pulled Merzlikins with close to 3 minutes left.  The Bruins really didn’t wake up until the third period.  We should see a different story at the end of the night tonight.

Merzlikins is just not a good goalie, at least at the NHL level.  He’s given up 4 goals in 3 of his last 5 games and has a 3.41 GAA average on the year.  He’s prone to giving up multiple goals a game and tonight he’ll give up his 4.  I’m rocking the over on this number tonight with no second thoughts.

Victor Hedman – 2.5 Shots on Goal – Over

I’ve highlighted on here a few times that although the Maple Leafs have as high-powered offense as anyone in the league, they’re also one of the worst on defense too.  They’re almost always good to give up least 30 shots per game.  I plan on attacking that part of the game tonight with Victor Hedman.

Over his last 5 games, Hedman has amassed over 20 shots on goal.   Carry the 1, divide by 2, eh that’s an average of more than 4 shots on goal per game.  Against a team in the Leafs that likes to give up shots, I’m siding with the Over on the PrizePicks prop of 2.5.

Steven Stamkos – .5 Assists – Over

The Lightning should dominate in this one and a big reason why will be the play of their top line.  The Law Office of Stamkos, Point, and Kucherov has combined for 26 points over their last 5 games.  They are one of the hottest lines in the NHL right now and should be able to score a couple of goals vs. a Maple Leafs team that has given more than 3.5 goals per game over the last month.  Another positive for us is that Jack Campbell should be in the net tonight.  He’s bad and is someone we should always target with some offense.  I like the Over on the prop from PrizePicks.

Ryan O’Reilly – 2.5 Shots on Goal – Over

When I think of teams that give up a lot of shots, the Coyotes are one that is always on the top of the list.  Since the beginning of March, the Coyotes are giving up over 38 shots per game.  For context, the average over that same period of time for all teams in action tonight is 31.18.  That’s an extremely large gap.  O’Reilly has had 3 shots on goal 4 times in his last 7 games.  With a matchup vs. a team that gives up significantly more than other teams, I love the Over here.

Summary

Make sure you are locking in Manek’s over tonight as it’s a free square.  In terms of the slate tonight, it’s an ok slate for me, nothing great and nothing bad.  Personally, I’ll be playing on the lighter side as none of the projections, outside of Hedman, really scream out tonight.

Whether it’s for PrizePicks or DFS, make sure you’re reading all of our great NHL content.

Good luck and hope to see some green bars tonight!
