This article focuses on NHL DFS Picks for 3/10 on DraftKings and FanDuel. Both sites have fairly different scoring formats, particularly with the recent changes on DraftKings. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large. BE SURE to double-check both regular and power play lines at both morning skate and before lock as they can drastically change from the time of publication.

Favorite DraftKings Line
Carolina One – Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen, Andrei Svechnikov
It is a rare occurrence that the NHL worst in virtually every category Detroit Red Wings are on a slate and the team facing them doesn’t get at least an honorable mention. Carolina comes in a slate high -240 road favorite and it is nice that the team’s core talent is all on one line that also shares full powerplay correlation. The Hurricanes are in sweat for one of the two wild-card spots and this is a must-win game for them. This line has seven full line goals over their last ten games, good for a four-way tie with Toronto, L.A., and Montreal’s top lines for seventh in the NHL across that span. Their 113 SATF during that period is good for eighth in the NHL, suggesting further room for upside. As they are all slightly cheaper on DraftKings by about $1,000-$1,200 they make much more sense there, if playing both sites. However, it is not as big a difference in pricing on them between the two sites as we have seen in the past.
Favorite FanDuel Line
Pittsburgh Two – Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Add-On: Patrick Marleau
At -180, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the second largest favorite on tonight’s slate. Nevertheless, you might not know that from the FanDuel price on Bryan Rust, who remains only $5,500. Despite a top-six role and power play time, perhaps father time is catching up with Patrick Marleau. Given that he has not been producing, I think it makes more sense to just run the two-man here of Rust and Evgeni Malkin. The $1,100 discount on Rust from DraftKings makes them a very palatable two-man and a great way to grab a piece of Pittsburgh’s total.
