NHL DFS Man Advantage for DraftKings and FanDuel (Feb. 22)

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

Happy Twos-day!

Happy 2/22/22 Tuesday, and to stick with the two theme the NHL gave us..wait…six games? Oh well, would have been fun if it was two, but six is a better slate anyway.

This slate was made for me, we have a Forsberg Tuesday in the same game as the Panthers (Hello game stack!), coupled with John Gibson night as the Ducks host San Jose! Well, that’s the article, good luck tonight! No, I’m kidding obviously, I should at least give you one more team for value purposes. Three of the teams on this slate are on the second night of a back-to-back with both Toronto (@ CBJ) and Seattle (vs NYI) having to travel while Philadelphia stays home but welcomes St. Louis. The aforementioned Nashville at Florida game is the game of the night and we have Minnesota in Ottawa as well.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

  1. Kaapo Kahkonen/Cam Talbot (@ Ottawa): I have decided to just put both Minnesota games because it seems every week I write up a Wild goalie and they decide to start the opposite one. Both of these goalies have been great at some point this season for Minnesota, for me Kahkonen should be the guy but there is more money invested in Talbot, so yeah. Either way Ottawa is a pretty soft matchup for Minnesota and should result in a good fantasy day for whoever starts.
  2. John Gibson ( vs San Jose): Gibson is my favorite goalie, personally not just in fantasy, and there is a good chance he goes completely overlooked on this slate. San Jose has been putrid of late winnning just two of their last ten and scoring an average of 2.5 goals per game. I know Gibson is also in a bit of a rut, losing four of five, but he did win his last start and prior to that he won three of four allowing just 8 goals in that stretch.
  3. Ilya Sorokin (@ Seattle): We picked on them last night with Demko and he did well, so why not go back to the well again. Similar to Gibson, Sorokin is in a slump of late but this matchup with Seattle could be one to snap him out of it. Prior to losing four of his last five, Sorokin won seven of eight starts allowing just 16 goals and posting a .919 save %. There is a good goalie in there, he just needs to bring him out and tonight is the night for it.
  4. Ville Husso (@ Philadelphia): This is me trying to wish these into existence, because of the Blues start Binnington then I switch up and add some Philly stacks to my lineups. Husso is the clear better goalie in this tandem, but similar to Minnnesota there is more money tied up in Binner so they want to give him every chance to succeed. If it is Husso, he is unbeaten in regualtion in February (3-0-1) and has only allowed nine goals and put up a .913 save %. Philly did score three times on Monday and played overtime in that game so they could have some tired legs.

Other Options: Sergei Bobrovsky (vs Nsh), Jack Campbell (@ CBJ), James Reimer (@ Anh)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

Nashville/Florida Game Stack

This game has a 6.5 O/U and I don’t see the under hitting tonight. Both teams can score goals in bunches, especially Floriday at home. Looking at the home team first, their top line of Duclair – Barkov – Huberdeau is the top line on this entire slate, and for good reason. Duclair is the “weak” link on this line with just two goals and an assist in his last four games. As for Barkov and Huberdeau, they have been on fire seemingly all season. Huberdeau is riding a seven-game point streak during which he has one goal and eleven assists and as for Barkov, he has five goals and six assists during Huberdeau’s seven-game point streak himself. You can use both Sam Bennett and/or Aaron Ekblad with pieces of this line to make a PP1 stack as well.

Even though I wrote up a long paragraph on line one, it’s actually line three that is more interesting to me. Mason Marchment has been making a name for himself this season and has nine goals and seven assists since January 25th (eight games). Joining him on line three is Anton Lundell who himself has a goal and seven assists in the club’s last five and Sam Reinhart who has his own six-game point streak with five goals and five assists during his point streak. Outside of Ekblad on defense, you can use MacKenzie Weegar or for value, you can go with Brandon Montour who is on the second power-play unit with all three forwards from line three.

On to Nashville…

I am only interested in using the Predators’ top line because their depth scoring isn’t as fruitful as the Panthers are. Filip Forsberg is the centerpiece of any Nashville stack with five points and four shots on goal per game in his last five. Matt Duchene has six goals and three assists in his last eight games while Mikael Granlund has just one goal and three assists in his last seven. If you only want to run a two-man here then it should be Forsberg and Duchene. If you are going with the Panthers’ third line as a stack you can fit Roman Josi in on defense with Forsberg/Duchene. That is probably going to net you the rights point total. If you are looking to use value on defense, Dante Fabbro is the best option, you can also look at Alexandre Carrier.

More stacking options:

Minnesota L1: Kaprizov – Hartman – Zuccarello (I prefer using Eriksson Ek or Boldy over Hartman for a PP stack). Dmen to use: Brodin, Merrill, Kulikov, Spurgeon (PP1)

St. Louis L2: Buchnevich – Thomas – Tarasenko. Dmen to use: Parayko, Krug, Faulk

Columbus L1: Voracek – Jenner – Laine (I love this line for a low-owned stack or just pieces). Dmen to use: Werenski, Gavrikov, Peeke

Toronto L1: Marner – Matthews – Bunting (big let down last night, lowers ownership?) Dmen to use: Rielly, Brodie

Philadelphia L1: Lindblom – Giroux – Atkinson (less interested in Husso starts, but if it’s Binnington then all systems go!) Dmen to use: Sanheim, Ristolainen, Braun

New York Islanders L1: Lee – Barzal – Palmieri (not overly expensive on either site and could be a late-night hammer) Dmen to use: Dobson, Aho, Chara

Bargain Bin!

Toronto L3: Kase – Kampf – Mikheyev

Anaheim L1: Milano – Steel – Terry Dmen to use: Mahura, Shattenkirk, Drysdale

St. Louis L3: Barbashev – Schenn – Sundqvist

San Jose L2: Balcers – Couture – Nieto Dmen to use: Burns, Ferraro, Vlasic

Columbus L2: Nyquist – Sillinger – Bjorkstrand

New York Islanders L2: Beauvillier – Nelson – Bellows
