NHL DFS Man Advantage for DraftKings and FanDuel (Feb. 1)

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for the 2021-22 season.

If you are new to my articles, NHL, or WinDaily Sports then I will tell you that my articles are not going to give you the chalk plays or the obvious plays. I try to dig in and find ways for you to build lineups for GPP contests. I will always point out those top plays to help you build cash but that is not the point of this article.

Another Massive Tuesday slate!

Unlike Monday where we had a nice manageable five-game slate, Tuesday has eleven games on the schedule. Five of the ten teams on Monday’s schedule are back at it on Tuesday including Toronto and New Jersey completing their home and home series. Florida, fresh off of putting 8 on the Blue Jackets head to MSG to take on the Rangers. Ottawa has to travel to Long Island to take on the Islanders and Vancouver is in Nashville for a Forsberg Tuesday!

One of the greatest rivalries in the NHL renews when Ovi and the Caps head to Pittsburgh to take on Sid the Kid and the Pens. Vegas returns home after a long east coast trip to find the lowly Sabres waiting for them but enough talking about games let’s give you some ways to navigate this huge slate.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Since it’s such a huge slate and there are so many goalies in good spots, I will give you my rankings like I normally do on huge slates.

  1. Andrei Vasilevskiy ( vs San Jose) – This is strictly a DK play because of the extremely low salary. Vasi is only $7.4K and I don’t know why but I want to take advantage of it. Vasilevskiy has won 14 of his last 18 starts and owns a .919 save % in that span.
  2. Ilya Sorokin/Semyon Varlamov ( vs Ottawa) – Ottawa is on the second leg of back-to-back and the Islanders are well rest after their game Sunday night. Unfortunately you will have to be paying attention close to the start of this game because the Islander NEVER announce their goalie early and they are on the front end of a back-to-back
  3. Robin Lehner ( vs Buffalo) – Lehner went 2-1 during the Knights easter road trip allowing just four goals and earning a shutout against the Capitals.
  4. Anton Forsberg ( @ NY Islanders) – Forsberg has actually been really good in his last ten starts posting a 6-3-1 record with a .926 sv%. The Islanders also don’t score much only averaging 2.7 goals per game in their last 10 and rank 30th on the season averaging 2.38 per game. Forsberg has only allowed more than 2 goals twice in those 10 game as well and held teams like Carolina, Tampa Bay (x2), and Florida to two goals or less.
  5. Juuse Saros ( vs Vancouver) – Saros is having a Vezina worthy season and gets the Canucks on the second night of a road back-to-back.
  6. Boston Bruins Starter (vs Seattle) – It could be one of three goalies starting for the Bruins on Tuesday, but whoever it is should have a good night against the Kraken

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Teams to build around:

Colorado is hosting the Coyotes on Tuesday and they will be the team everyone stacks, but on a slate this large we don’t need to worry about ownership. You all know that Colorado is the play, so I won’t bother you with why to play them. Colorado PP1 is where I would go, but there are so many ways to build with the Avs that you should just do what fits your build. I build multiple lineups so I will have some top-end Avs but also look to use their depth in other builds as well.

High End Stacks:

There are so many ways to go on this slate and I will try to guide you through this, first with the high-priced stacks (outside of Colorado) and then some value stacks as well.

  • Vegas Golden Knights L1: Pacioretty-Patrick-Stone – Patrick is a place filler for Chandler Stephenson who is on the COVID list. Patches has not scored in two games sinc returning from injury so I would say he’s due. Pacioretty is expensive on both sites, but both Patrick and Stone are affordable to make this stack work. Dmen to use: Pietrangleo, McNabb, Theodore
  • Calgary Flames/Dallas Stars game stack: This game could go either way, we have two teams who can put up big time goal totals but also keep the score low. Both teams top lines are on the short list of top plays for me, but you also have some depth lines here as well. Calgary L2 – Mangiapane/Backlund/Coleman have been playing like a top line of late and give you from salary relief to fit Colorado in. The same goes for Dallas, their top line is where the money is but their second line has been great form recently. Dallas L2 – Benn/Seguin/Gurianov Dmen to use: Lindell, Suter, Klingberg
  • Nashville Predators L1: Forsberg-Granlund-Duchene – It’s Tuesday so that means we play Forsberg and he comes in with three straight two point games. Duhene has four goals and an assist in the last three. Dmen to use: Josi, Benning, Ekholm
  • Florida Panthers L1 and L2 : The Panthers are coming off an eight goal outburst on Monday and it was line three who got it done. I still will have exposure to that line on this slate, but the top 6 get their pound of flesh on Tuesday.
  • New York Rangers L1 and L2: Similar to the Panthers, the top six for the Rangers should have a big night on Tuesday. If you have the salary, a PP1 stack is where I would go first, but both Alexis Lafreniere and Barclay Goodrow are good value pieces if you can’t afford the PP stack.
  • Tampa Bay Lightning L2: Killorn-Stamkos-Joseph Dmen to use: Hedman, Sergachev, Foote
  • Winnipeg Jets L2: Connor-Dubois-Perfetti – Dmen to use: Dillon, Schmidt
  • Boston Bruins L1: Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak – Dmen to use: McAvoy, Carlo, Reilly
Value Stacks:

Nashville Predators L3: Jeanott-Sissons-Trenin Dmen to use: Josi, Benning, Ekholm

Tampa Bay Lightning PP2: Colton/Cirelli/Perry – Dmen to use: Sergachev

Boston Bruins L2: Hall-Coyle-Smith – Dmen to use: McAvoy, Carlo, Reilly

Seattle Kraken L2: Jarnkrok-Gourde-Appleton – Dmen to use: Larsson, Fleury, Dunn

New Jersey Devils L3: Johnsson-Mercer-Tatar – Dmen to use: Severson, Graves

Arizona Coyotes L1: Keller-Boyd-Schmaltz – Dmen to use: Gostisbehere, Stralman

Penguins vs Capitals

This game is usually pretty crazy, and on a smaller slate I would be all over this one, but both teams have been struggling of late. Washington is averaging 2.4 goals per game in their last 5 and Pittsburgh is averaging just 2.8 goals per game. I don’t think I will have exposure to this game, but I get it if you want to.
