After a solid six game slate, the NHL gives us a decent 10 gamer. There should be plenty of decent spots to look tonight. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!
Goalies
Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: The Bruins host the Predators tonight, who basically have a minor league lineup. With that being said, Ullmark is a safer play on a large slate.
Joonas Korpisalo – Los Angeles Kings: The Kings are in a good spot tonight against the Flames, and this is a nice upside spot. While the Flames have been bad defensively, they are still firing a bunch of shots at the net.
Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers: The Rangers host the Blue Jackets tonight, and this is your cash goalie play on the night. If you have the salary in GPP and want to play him, you totally can, but don’t force him into your GPPs.
High Risk Goalie Pick – Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning: It’s weird to have Vas here as a high risk pick, since he is usually a staple in our lineups. However, he has been kind of struggling recently, and his numbers of late are mediocre for his caliber of talent. He gets a matchup tonight with Carolina, so the upside is there. If he can get back to his normal play, this is a good play tonight.
Others to Consider: Frederik Andersen (CAR), Carter Hart (PHI), Connor Hellebuyck (WPG), Thatcher Demko (VAN)
Lines to Build Around
These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
New York Rangers 1 – Mika Zibanejad/Chris Kreider/Vladimir Tarasenko/Adam Fox: Play all the Rangers tonight. This top line is in about the best spot you can ask for, and they should be able to dominate the Blue Jackets tonight. The second line is in a good spot as well, so a power play look is not out of the question here.
Los Angeles Kings 2 – Phillip Danault/Kevin Fiala/Viktor Arvidsson: The second Kings line is in a great spot tonight against the Flames. Calgary has been leaky defensively and giving up a ton of shots, chances, and goals. This line should be able to take advantage of that and light the lamp tonight.
Dallas Stars 1 – Roope Hintz/Joe Pavelski/Jason Robertson/Miro Heiskanen: The Stars have a really nice matchup tonight against the Blackhawks. This line should see a bunch of the Entwistle line in a juicy matchup. The second line here is also in a good spot, so replacing Pavelski with Jamie Benn is a solid approach.
Vegas Golden Knights 2 – William Karlsson/Pavel Dorofeyev/Mike Amadio: This second line should see a lot of the second line for Edmonton in a fantastic matchup. There is a ton of upside in this play tonight, and there should be minimal ownership. You can also opt for a power play look here, as Edmonton is not good on the penalty kill, and they take the 4th most penalties in the league.
High Risk Lines
These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
Boston Bruins 3 – Charlie Coyle/Tyler Bertuzzi/Trent Frederic: The third line for the Bruins should get a decent matchup with the depth of the Predators tonight, which sets them up nicely. They are a higher risk play, and it hinges on the health of Bergeron and Marchand. With the Bruins locked into a playoff spot, expect them to ease off the gas a little bit to end the year and stay healthy. If Bergeron and Marchand play, BOS1 is squarely in play tonight as well.
New York Rangers 3 – Filip Chytil/Alexis Lafreniere/Kaapo Kakko: Yeah…every line for the Rangers is in play tonight. This line should help with the top line tonight, which puts them in a great spot. If you want to pay up elsewhere, this is a good way to be a little different.
Vancouver Canucks 3 – Sheldon Dries/Aidan McDonough/Conor Garland: This line has a great matchup against the depth of the Blues tonight. They are very risky, but they should see plenty of chances, even though they may see limited ice time.
Carolina Hurricanes 3 – Jordan Staal/Jesper Fast/Jordan Martinook: The Canes’ third line is finally back in play! They get the Lightning tonight at home, and this line should be matched up against the top line for the Bolts. This sets them up nicely to see some quality chances.
Pittsburgh Penguins 1 – Sidney Crosby/Jake Guentzel/Bryan Rust/Kris Letang: While the Pens have been struggling to win games, they are generating a ton of chances. This top line has a fantastic spot tonight, and they will very likely be overlooked.
