It’s Tuesday, so that means we have another giant NHL slate! After a nice night last night on a small one, we get 12 games to sift through tonight. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!
Goalies
Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: This should be the safe pick on the night, with limited upside. The Bruins head to Chicago, where the Blackhawks have been struggling. This is a matter of one team being in a class well, well above the other.
Frederik Andersen – Carolina Hurricanes: This is a decent matchup for Andersen, and he should see a decent amount of shot volume tonight. Carolina has been limiting chances, and should be able to keep Winnipeg’s offense limited.
Joonas Korpisalo – Los Angeles Kings: Korpi has been pretty good to start his LAK career, and his numbers look very solid coming into tonight. He gets a date in NY against the Islanders, who have been struggling on offense of late.
Sam Montembault – Montreal Canadiens: This is a risky pick, as the Pens are a solid team, and Montreal gives up tons of chances. However, Monty has been decent recently and will have a lot of shot volume fired his way.
High Risk Goalie Pick – Thatcher Demko – Vancouver Canucks: This one is a very risky play, but with Dallas playing on the road in Seattle last night, there is an angle here. The thought is that people will chase the Stars after last night, and we hope they come out flat in the second leg of a back to back.
Others to Consider: Juuse Saros (NSH), Ilya Sorokin (NYI), Vitek Vanecek (NJD), Jonathan Quick (VGK)
Lines to Build Around
These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
Boston Bruins 2 – David Krejci/David Pastrnak/Pavel Zacha: As mentioned above, the Bruins are heavily favored tonight, so they will be popular. Most will flock to the top line now that Bertuzzi moved up, and it totally makes sense. This line has a slightly better matchup, so the leverage is there, which makes them that much more interesting. Ownership doesn’t matter that much on a giant 12 game slate, but this line is a way to be just a bit different.
Edmonton Oilers 1 – Connor McDavid/Zach Hyman/Evander Kane/Evan Bouchard: Tonight feels very much like an Edmonton night. They should be popular, but they have a fantastic matchup at home against Ottawa. You can always pair McDavid and Draisaitl, as they are always out there together, even if they don’t officially play on a line together. The power play for the Oilers is always in play.
Vegas Golden Knights 2 – William Karlsson/Pavel Dorofeyev/Reilly Smith: This (pretty new) line has been playing well, and they get a really nice matchup tonight against the Philly top line. They should see tons of chances and should be able to capitalize on them.
High Risk Lines
These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).
San Jose Sharks 3 – Nico Sturm/Noah Gregor/Evgeny Svechnikov: This line has a very, very juicy matchup tonight with the third line for the Blue Jackets. On home ice, the top line matches the second, the second to the top, and then this one hard matches the third. They should have a ton of opportunities, are a late night hammer, and will carry zero ownership.
Calgary Flames 2 – Nazem Kadri/Jonathan Huberdeau/Dillon Dube: This second line should see the depth lines for Arizona tonight, setting them up for a very juicy matchup. Arizona, while winning, has been giving up tons of chances, and Calgary should be able to take advantage.
Columbus Blue Jackets 2 – Jack Roslovic/Kirill Marchenko/Patrik Laine: The Sharks/Jackets game should see plenty of scoring chances tonight, as both teams are bad defensively. This line has a good matchup against the top line for the Sharks.
Dallas Stars 1 – Roope Hintz/Jason Robertson/Joe Pavelski/Miro Heiskanen: Last night, the Stars’ second line did the damage. Tonight, the top line has a great matchup and should see a ton of chances. They are high risk because of the back to back, and because Demko has been decent lately. Don’t stack these guys against Demko.
