NHL DFS Hot Shot for DraftKings and FanDuel (Apr. 11)

It’s the final Tuesday Hot Shot for the 2022-2023 NHL regular season! It’s hard to believe that we are here already. The playoffs are just around the corner, and it’s been a pleasure getting these articles out all season. Tonight’s slate has 10 games. One more time, let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins: The Bruins host the Capitals tonight, and the Caps have a pretty poor looking lineup. Even if Ovechkin ends up suiting up, this is a good spot for Ullmark.

Connor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets: This is a solid spot for Hellebuyck tonight, as the Wild roll out their younger guys so they can rest their stars for the playoffs.

Thatcher Demko – Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks take on the Ducks tonight, and this is a solid matchup for Demko. He should see a decent amount of shots, and has a good chance at a win.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Alex Nedeljkovic – Detroit Red Wings: The Wings head to Carolina tonight to face the Hurricanes. This is a high upside, high risk pick. Needle’s numbers look pretty good recently, even though it’s a small sample. He should face a ton of shots, and if he can hold his own, he could see a save bonus.

Others to Consider: Antti Raanta (CAR), Carter Hart (PHI), Laurent Brossoit (VGK)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

New Jersey Devils 2 – Jack Hughes/Jesper Bratt/Ondrej Palat/Dougie Hamilton: This is a very, very nice spot for the second line for the Devils. They should see the second line for Buffalo tonight in a very plus matchup. You can consider a power play look, but the second line has a chance to be a top play tonight.

Pittsburgh Penguins 2 – Evgeni Malkin/Jason Zucker/Rickard Rakell: The second line for the Pens should see the top six for the Blackhawks in really nice matchup. The top line is in a good spot, but this one is the one we should key on. Feel free to roll a power play look here as well.

Philadelphia Flyers 1 – Morgan Frost/Travis Konecny/Joel Farabee: The Flyers are on a skid, but they get to play the lowly Blue Jackets tonight in Philly. This is a great spot for the top line, and there is a good chance that they get overlooked tonight since they don’t have anything to play for.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Vancouver Canucks Power Play – JT Miller/Elias Pettersson/Phil DiGiuseppe/Brock Boeser/Quinn Hughes: This is a nice spot for the power play unit tonight, as Anaheim boasts one of the worst penalty killing units in the league. They also take quite a few penalties, so there should be ample opportunity for this unit tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes 3 – Jordan Staal/Jordan Martinook/Jesper Fast: This line should see the top line for the Red Wings tonight in a nice matchup. They should hard match, so there should be plenty of chances for them to get on the board and make for a great value line. Carolina 1 is also in play if this is too risky for you.

Colorado Avalanche 1 – Nathan MacKinnon/Mikko Rantanen/Evan Rodrigues/Devon Toews: The top Colorado line is almost always in play, but tonight against Edmonton, we could see a very tight game. This should be a playoff style game that could be tightly contested with little scoring. To play COL1, you have to pay a lot of salary, so that makes them quite a risk to roll tonight.

Winnipeg Jets 1 – Pierre-Luc Dubois/Kyle Connor/Mark Scheifele/Josh Morrissey: Right back to the well with Winnipeg tonight, as they head to Minnesota, who is resting their main guys for the playoffs. This line should see some decent opportunities tonight.
