Welcome back, everyone, after a strong article last Friday, we’re back! As mentioned last week, I’ll be writing weekly every Friday for WinDaily NHL. You can also catch more of my content in the MMA tab for every UFC card! Without further ado, for tonight’s 10/21 NHL slate, we have a small three-gamer, and the slate begins at 7:30 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get right into it!
10/21 NHL Stack Report
1. Colorado Avalanche 1 (Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Rantanen)
— This line is fairly clear as the far-and-away favourite of the slate. Colorado’s top line has clearly been one of the best lines in hockey and although it is in full form when Landeskog (knee injury) is on the wing, they are still a strong force with Lehkonen, and it brings down the overall price of the line. Tonight the Avalanche are coming up against the Seattle Kraken, an expansion team who had an abysmal season last year and has started off cold to begin this season with a 1-2-2 record. The Kraken’s goaltending has been terrible as Grubauer has not improved from last season with a current GAA of 4.26 and a SV % of .851. This team has so many defensive holes and this game is simply a mismatch as one of the worst defensive teams (4 GA per game) is coming up against one of the best offensive teams in the NHL (4.25 GPG). Not to mention, this line remains in tact during the Aves Power Plays and each player averages around 20 minutes of ice time a game. This line is a must-play, especially in Cash Game formats.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Cale Makar (Devon Toews works as a salary saver)
2. Florida Panthers 2 (Tkachuk-Bennett-Balcers)
— This is an interesting matchup as the Battle of Florida now has two Stanley Cup contenders competing against each other. Both have solid goaltending, extremely powerful offence and middle-of-the-road defence. To be honest, it was hard to decide between favouring the Panthers or the Lightning in this matchup but the Panthers have simply had the stronger start to the season, coming into this one 3-1-0 compared to Tampa Bay who are 1-3-0. Although Florida’s top line is very strong, I think there’s more value in Florida’s second line. This line is more affordable than the top line, more consistent and have all contributed to Florida’s scoring with each player recording at least two points in Florida’s last two games. Not to mention, all three of them see power play time with Tkachuk and Bennett on the top Power Play line and Balcers on the second unit. Currently, both Tampa and Florida are tied for the highest implied goal total on the slate at 3.6 and Florida is slightly favoured to win the game. One thing is for sure, we can expect plenty of goals in this matchup and you will want to have some pieces of this game in your fantasy builds tonight, my favourite of the bunch being Florida’s second line.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Gustav Forsling (Radko Gudas works as a salary saver, consider Montour if he is back)
Honorable Mention(s): Detroit Red Wings 1 (Kubalik-Larkin-Raymond)

10/21 NHL Wild Card Targets
David Perron
– Life for Perron in Motown has been pretty successful thus far. Over the first three games of the season, Perron has registered four points (3 G, 1 A) including a three-point performance in his last game against the Los Angeles Kings. Tonight, Perron and the Wings are up against a Chicago side which was notoriously bad last season and have struggled to start this season with their only win coming against the 1-5-0 Sharks. Matchups between the Wings and Hawks always tend to be exciting especially since both teams were part of the NHLs Original Six and shared a division for a long period of time. Also, neither team has a solidified goalie situation, albeit Chicago is in a much riskier position, starting a goalie who was the Leafs backup last season and spent most of the year out with an injury. All this means is that you can expect a fair amount of goals out of this matchup and we can definitely be sure that Perron will partake in the scoring.
