NFL Preseason Week 3 DFS used to be known as the “dress-rehearsal”” week for the first stringers. In today’s age, that is not always the case. With numerous coaches opting to rest their starters for the majority of the preseason, tonight’s six-game slate is going to offer DFSers a wide variety of players to roster.
Personally, I would not recommend DFS players to invest a significant amount of their bankroll into the Preseason, but for those of you that are looking to play, here are my top players at each position for tonight’s NFL Preseason DFS slate.

Quarterbacks
Gardner Minshew, Jaguars: It doesn’t appear that Nick Foles and the first string will be on the field for any longer than a quarter. Minshew looked very solid in his Week 2 reps and was able to throw for over 200 yards. This is purely a volume play for me, as he is one of the few quarterbacks that I am confident will throw the ball 20+ times.
If Minshew can find the end zone, he will be a top play.
Dwayne Haskins, Redskins: Everything that I can find on the Redskins’ beat reports seem to say that Haskins will get the majority of the playing time tonight against the AFalcons. The Redskins know what they have in Colt McCoy and Case Keenum (not much). Let’s assume the Redskins want to get Haskins as comfortable as possible with NFL action in hopes he can take over the starting job midway through the year.
Haskins looked solid in his last appearance in Week 2 and should be able to build off of that tonight. If he gets a lot of snaps against the Falcons’ reserves, he should be able to carve them up and pay off for DFS players.
Mike Glennon, Raiders: Like Minshew, Glennon can be a high volume passer. Glennon had 25 pass attempts that accounted for 200 yards passing in Week 2. There’s nothing special here, as he should have a similar box score in tonight’s matchup against the Packers with a touchdown or two, making for a banner night for the NFL Preseason Week 3 DFS players who use him.
Running Backs
Justice Hill, Ravens: I can go on for days about how impressed I’ve been with Hill. He has certainly solidified himself as Baltimore’s RB2. Hill has shown that he has an elite prowess in making defenders miss and that will show again tonight against the Eagles. He probably won’t get any more than 10-12 touches, but he will make the most of them.
Thomas Rawls, Jaguars: Rawls appears to be playing for his career right now. Ryquell Armstead is certainly going to make the team and be the main handcuff to Leonard Fournette, so unless the Jaguars plan on keeping four running backs, Rawls and Alfred Blue are battling for the last spot.
Blue has never been anything worth writing home about, and Rawls seems to fit that 3-down, hard-nosed style of running back the Jaguars like to feature. Rawls looked solid in Week 2 and should be the safe bet to get 12+ touches tonight against the Falcons. He is my favorite bet at running back to score a touchdown.
Jordan Ellis, Bengals: Ellis has carried the ball 15 times and also caught six passes. Cincinnati seems to like Ellis’ upside and want to continue getting him acclimated. He should be heavily involved in both the passing and running attack for the Bengals against the Giants.

Wide Receivers
Preston Williams, Dolphins: the 6’4″ monster receiver is my favorite bet to score a touchdown in the Thursday slate. The Miami wide receiving corps is rather beat up right now, so there is no doubt in my mind we’ll be seeing a lot of Williams tonight. I’ve seen a lot of hype heading towards Kenny Stills, but Williams will be my guy. He can be a matchup nightmare and a prime target in the red zone.
Marcell Ateman, Raiders: similar to Williams, Ateman is another big receiver who will be on the field for a majority of his team’s offensive snaps tonight. I like Mike Glennon at QB tonight and I will be mini-stacking him with Ateman.
Jake Kumerow, Packers: Kumerow looked explosive last week against the Ravens with three catches for 52 yards and will be looking to build on that again tonight. Kumerow is trying to prove that at 27, he is just now entering his prime. Injuries and lack of playing time have always stacked up against him, but he is healthy now and looking to make an impact in what should be an explosive Green Bay offense.
If anyone is going to catch a 50+ yard touchdown tonight, Kumerow is the guy.
Tight Ends
Rob Tonyan, Packers: Tonyan certainly looks like he belongs in the league. He has impressed me with his route running ability and consistent pass catching. The Packers seem to want to continue to get Tonyan the ball and get him up to speed with their offense as he may become a viable threat in their passing attack as soon as Week 1. He is my favorite Tight End play on the board tonight.
Will Tye, Eagles: I’ve always been a big fan of the talent the undersized, Rutgers’ alumn has possessed throughout his NFL career. It doesn’t look like Dallas Goedert will suit up tonight, so Tye should get plenty of looks in a TE-focused passing game. He is a nice volume play on this Week 3 Preseason DFS slate.

Defense/Special Teams
I’m not going to write up much about the defenses tonight, I’m just going to pick on those offenses who have had trouble moving the ball thus far in the preseason. Let defense ride in the NFL Preseason Week 3 DFS.
New England Patriots
Jacksonville Jaguars
