NBA DFS Yahoo Cash Plays 2/3
We are back in action with another six games of NBA action tonight and it would be nice if we don’t lose a player 23 seconds into the game tonight. While it didn’t hurt you in cash games, seeing Isaiah Jackson from the Pacers go out immediately after tip last night was frustrating. Let’s dig into what this slate looks like and all bout our targets in the NBA DFS Yahoo Cash Plays 2/3!
The scoring is FanDuel-style so always be sure to look at the Projection Model. Ghost spends a TON of time on this, and it’s the most valuable tool for NBA DFS we have. While it’s not a one-to-one translation because of the salaries, it’s still a great place to start. Yahoo has eight positions to fill with a $200 budget, different than any other site. The goal here in this article will outline some of the most popular plays since cash is king, and then we set the cores in the Win Daily Discord.
Guard – Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors – $18
If you read the Gems article today, I expressed my hesitance for Klay over on DraftKings because the salary is a little high to hit 6x return on that site. That’s not the same over on Yahoo where Klay is under $20, not even 10% of the salary cap. Given the game environment with the Kings (both teams rank so high in pace) and the total of 225 points, you absolutely want exposure. The best part about Thompson as opposed to playing Steph Curry is the spread is 13.5 points but Thompson is still working his way back into top shape. Even in a big-time blowout, his minutes are more secure in that scenario and it’s hard to see him not play at least 24 minutes. That is plenty and Thompson is one of the chalkiest plays on the slate, justifiably so on Yahoo.
Honorable Mention – Russell Westbrook, One of Chris Paul/Devin Booker
Forward – Scottie Barnes, Toronto Raptors – $25
It appears that the field isn’t quite sure where to go at forward tonight because there isn’t one super chalky player at this juncture. Barnes is the closest and he’s averaging 1.9 steals/blocks per game, a nice bonus in the Yahoo scoring format. The 4.5-point spread is the second-closest on the slate and Barnes is averaging 36 minutes per night with a ceiling of 40 because that’s just what coach Nick Nurse is going to do. The usage rate is certainly not spectacular at just 18.8% but the salary is fine and there is no standout at the position, so we can just take the minutes and run.
Honorable Mention – Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, DeMar DeRozan
Center – Drew Eubanks, San Antonio Spurs – $10
The most popular player on the slate is Eubanks and we talked about this in Gems as well. Eubanks is going to have to play as much as he can handle against the Heat and Bam Adebayo since both Jakob Poeltl and Jock Landale are both out and that latter name is just as important. San Antonio doesn’t have much of a choice but to play Eubanks to combat the size of Adebayo and he’s the site minimum, in addition to generating 1.02 Yahoo points per minute when Poeltl and Landale are off the floor. I will almost certainly be deploying the double-center approach tonight with Anthony Davis, who was big chalk last night and I expect it again.
Honorable Mention – AD, Karl-Anthony Towns
