NBA DFS Yahoo Cash Plays 1/19
There is a monster slate awaiting us tonight so I can’t emphasize enough that you need to be in the Discord leading up to lock and be around afterward to keep tabs on any late-breaking news. We’re already seeing the field lean certain ways tonight so let’s get to work in the NBA DFS Yahoo Cash Plays 1/19!
The scoring is FanDuel-style so always be sure to look at the Projection Model. Ghost spends a TON of time on this, and it’s the most valuable tool for NBA DFS we have. While it’s not a one-to-one translation because of the salaries, it’s still a great place to start. Yahoo has eight positions to fill with a $200 budget, different than any other site. The goal here in this article will outline some of the most popular plays since cash is king, and then we set the cores in the Win Daily Discord.
Guard – Jordan Clarkson, Utah Jazz – $17
Some nights the guard position is just gift-wrapped for you and you start your builds with a player, and Clarkson is that guy tonight. Donovan Mitchell is out for the Utah Jazz tonight when they face the Houston Rockets and Clarkson bumps up to a 31.2% usage and 1.07 points per minute when he’s off the court. That leads the squad in usage and only Rudy Gobert has a higher point per minute, not to mention the Rockets are first in pace and last in defensive rating. That doesn’t get any better and even as a heavy favorite, Clarkson should see his normal minutes as the sixth man on the team. There is no question where the guard position starts tonight.
Honorable Mention – De’Anthony Melton, Kyrie Irving
Forward – Terrance Davis, Sacramento Kings – $13
The small forward position is generally a pain on most sites but Davis is an amazing fit towards the bottom end of the salary structure. He took the starting spot of Tyrese Haliburton, who remains out in the health and safety protocols. Not only did Davis start, but he played 38 minutes and went for 42.7 Yahoo points. I wouldn’t expect that tonight because four steals is not exactly sustainable but at $13, you don’t need him to score close to 40 to pay off. He could allow you to play Jimmy Butler at the F spot for a combined cost of $54, barely 25% of the salary cap. The Kings face the Pistons (who played last night and got destroyed by the Warriors) and rank 23rd in defensive rating. Both teams are in the top 11 in pace so this is a potential shootout, even though both teams are not that good.
Honorable Mention – Jimmy Butler, Jazz F (Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neal)
Center – Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz – $39
With multiple values along the way, Gobert looks to be the most popular center as things stand. Houston is primed to get destroyed in the paint as they rank dead last in points allowed and 24th in rebounds allowed, perfect for Gobert. I’m not typically excited to play him but his usage does go up 1.8% and the matchup is so enticing, I’m willing to go along with the field tonight. Gobert is second in points scored in the paint this year and 12.4 and leads in both rebounding chances and rebounds overall. Once you factor in he scores nine Yahoo points on average with his blocks and steals per game, it’s easier to get behind him at the salary tonight.
Honorable Mention – Onyeka Okongwu, Nikola Jokic (it is possible to fit Gobert+Jokic with values, but that will likely be more GPP tonight)
