For the third straight night, we saw massive scores across the NBA DFS industry as the Stars And Scrubs path continued to drive profit with the undermanned Houston Rockets providing all the value we needed to go up and get the stars like Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, and Damontas Sabonis.

NBA DFS Picks and Pivots: Slate Breakdown
Opening up this 8 game NBA DFS slate on Friday, we may not have quite the same injury insanity we have had the last few slates but let’s not pretend like we are all clear either.
The Lakers duo of LeBron and AD are questionable (as they are every single game it seems) while Jaylen Brown and Eric Bledsoe are two of the biggest news items we need to watch for what could be a short-handed Boston and/or New Orleans squad tonight who already have ruled out Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum.
One of the points I talked about in our Discord yesterday was coaching people on the idea of “working backwards” – with the simple assumption that we will have multiple paths to value so rather than worry about WHICH value we play, to prioritize your studs and simply let the value fall into your build based on position and salary needs.
This slate is LOADED at the top and the very first thing that jumps out to me is that we get Luka versus Giannis!
If you do not remember the last time these teams met – allow me to refresh your memory.
The date was August 8th, 2020 – we were in the happiest place on Earth, living the bubble life as it were. This game between the games two biggest young stars went into overtime and left us with these lines:
Luka – 42 minutes, 36 points, 19 assists, 14 rebounds, and 89 DraftKings points.
Giannis – 34 minutes, 48 points, 14 rebounds and 76 DraftKings points.
Listen – you do not need me to tell you to play Luka Doncic ($11K) or Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10.8K) but if these last days have set the tone at all – it is that stars dictate the slate and tonight we get two of the games best on national TV who showed OUT against each other last time out. Seems like a solid place to start right?
Now before we get too far from the stars – one thing that intrigues me on DraftKings is the pricing on LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they are both under $10K and just $100 apart so you can easily lock one in as a placeholder and if one gets ruled out, you have the spot already for the late-night hammer.
If you are going to do this – use AD since he is $100 more expensive and slide him into the F spot on DK so you have an easy swap for LeBron if needed.
Oh you want value?
Imagine being able to lock in Luka, Giannis, and LeBron/AD on DraftKings and STILL having $3.7K per player for your build? Well, this is where we are tonight and if you are not realizing the power of Stars and Scrubs yet with all the injury news/COVID protocols – well, you are missing out.

The Pelicans will be without Lonzo again and if Eric Bledsoe is out – well DraftKings simply did not raise the price enough for Nickeil Alexander-Walker ($4.4K) and JJ Reddick ($3.8K).
NAW shot the ball 23 times, drops 52 DK points and his price only goes to $4.4K – cool, welcome to my lineup homey. Reddick played nearly 30 minutes, racking up 25 DK points despite only hitting 2 of 7 three’s and his price ticked up just $500.
The Timberwolves will be without Ricky Rubio, Juancho Hernangomez and Jake Layman tonight which could mean we get 3 sub $4K players in the T-Wolves starting line-up in Josh Okogie ($3.6K), Jarret Culver ($3.8K) and Jared Vanderbilt ($3.9K).
Oh and all of this is before we know what players will be able to suit up for Boston – which thankfully is the 7:30 EST game and first one to lock.
Listen – what it means – we can fit three stars – the three best players in the NBA arguably – and we have multiple value paths to get there BEFORE we even enter a full day of news. Easy peesy my friends.

You guys can over complicate it if you want and argue mid-level plays with no ceiling. You can try and be sneaky and play someone nobody is talking about.
