NBA DFS Core
Moe Wagner (6,000)
Charlotte’s biggest struggle this season is guarding opposing bigs. Without Thomas Bryant tonight and Wagner priced at only 6k, there’s a ton of room for value here. Centers have scored an average of 39 fantasy points per game against Charlotte for the season. I don’t have much interest in the Wizards outside of Wagner.
Miles Bridges (5,100)
Across the court from Charlotte, is the Washington Wizards and their make-believe defense. Bridges should see about 30 minutes against one of the fastest teams in the league with a 3 point spread. I look for him to be one of the more under-owned players as far as this Charlotte team goes.
Julius Randle (6,400)
Playing the Knicks is always a bad idea, especially if they’re chalky. Yet, here Randle is in the Core sections instead of the fades. Portland has been terrible on defense over the last few games and that doesn’t change today. On a 4 game slate, the Knicks starters are more appealing and provide much-needed value.
Damian Lilliard (8,800)
Lilliard has had 40 plus points in 3 straight games and seems to be getting hot again. He’s also shown a 70 point ceiling and given his price is a good pivot from Jimmy Butler. The Blazers are in a pace down spot but have the third-highest implied a total of the slate.
NBA DFS Fades (Draftkings)
Ish Smith (5,200)
Smith was excellent value for the last few days at an almost near minimum price. Tonight he’s jumped almost 2,000 dollars and is priced at his ceiling. While he has shown a 30 point upside on the season, there are better players to spend this much salary on.
Kendrick Nunn (5,400)
Nunn had an insanely hot start to his career with 3 straight 30 plus point games. All 3 of those came without Jimmy Butler in the lineup. With Butler in the lineup, Nunn carries a much lower ceiling and won’t often get to a GPP winning score at this price point. While the matchup and pace are nice, there are other players that I prefer to spend 5k on.
Slate Thoughts
The popular strategy tonight seems to be to stack the Wizards and Hornets while fitting in Butler and Bam. While I’m okay with most of that, tonight I’m fading Washington outside of Wagner. Charlotte has a better than average defense away from the rim and plays at a significantly slower pace than the Wizards. I’ll focus more on Charlotte this game with Washington, Bridges, and Graham. My main focus on Miami is Bam, which should lead to a contrarian roster construction. Kevin Huerter is my favorite value option on the slate for Fanduel and De’Andre Hunter for Draftkings.
