With the AFC and NFC Championships on the line today, the schedule is not friendly, as only two games are on the slate. However, the Sunday NBA DFS Positional Breakdown will make do with what’s available.
Oh: Titans 32, Chiefs 28. 49ers 23, Packers 14.
IMPORTANT: NBA DFS is completely different than any other sport. Players get ruled out five minutes before games and you HAVE TO BE READY to pivot. I will update this article as close to lineup lock as possible with any big news, but play it safe and stay on top of the news yourself.
I refer to FanDuel pricing today.
1/19 NBA DFS Point Guard
- Malcolm Brogdon ($6800): He’s averaged 36.9 FDP in his three games since returning from an injury that cost him eight games and most of a ninth. The Nuggets are 10th in Fantasy points per game allowed to opposing PGs, but Brogdon will be close to recent average going against a banged-up Denver backcourt.
- Kendrick Nunn ($5000): Give Nunn the slight edge over teammate Goran Dragic in a juicy matchup against the Spurs’ 23rd-ranked defense.
- Monte Morris ($4000): He should get the bulk of the minutes at point for Denver, but he’s more of a punt play tonight.
- Dejounte Murray ($5500): Dealing with an illness that makes him a GTD. Like the rest of the Win Daily NBA team, there’s a sense of queasiness that comes with suggesting a Spurs PG.
1/19 NBA DFS Shooting Guard
- Jimmy Butler ($9100): Butler should be DFS gold if the lead-paced Heat (27th in pace) plays more to the level of the Spurs, who are ranked 12th (100.7).
- DeMar DeRozan ($8700): His DFS numbers have been blistering hot, as DeRozan has averaged 52.1 FDS in his last four. DeRozan is carrying the Spurs right now and should still keep the good times rolling even against Butler.
- Malik Beasley ($4500): Beasley will be a solid bargain play as the Pacers will likely be hellbent on making anyone on the wounded Nuggets roster outside of Nikola Jokic beat them.
- Jeremy Lamb ($4700): Hip injury makes Lamb a GTD. If he’s in street clothes, pivot toward Justin Holiday, who will have SG/SF eligibility at FanDuel.
1/19 NBA DFS Small Forward
- T.J. Warren ($5700): Warren is going to score the ball at a consistent basis, but what puts him here is that he’s capable of contributing when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands. The Nuggets are the type of team that will force Warren to do more than score.
- Will Barton ($6600): The ownership on Barton will be high, especially on such a thin schedule. The 50.5 FDP performance he put up at the Warriors on Thursday is asking too much for a repeat.
- Derrick Jones ($4500): I’ve got a hunch on Jones today. Don’t ask why, but you’re welcome if you add him into the lineup.
- Justin Holiday ($4000): If Jeremy Lamb is out, then aim in the direction of Holiday, especially if you’re only playing the late game. I’d avoid both if going with the two-game slate.
1/19 NBA DFS Power Forward
- Bam Adebayo ($8800): Has played solidly in his two previous games this week, erasing the 24.7 FDP slip he had last Sunday against the Knicks.
- Domantas Sabonis ($9400): Adebayo gets a paper-thin Spurs defense, whereas Sabonis has to put in work against the Nuggets’ 9th-ranked defense. There’s your explanation.
- LaMarcus Aldridge ($7500): Recent trend with Aldridge is that he’s a beast against poor defenses and struggles against high-end defenses. The Heat rank 13th in D-rating, so lean more toward Aldridge being more of a letdown.
- Michael Porter ($5200): Consecutive games of 39.1 and 46.5 FDP has Porter on the brink of being NBA DFS reliable. He’s got value here tonight, but Sabonis is a huge reason why Indiana is second in fewest Fantasy points per game allowed to opposing PFs.
1/19 NBA DFS Center
- Nikola Jokic ($10000), Anchor: You’re playing him today. Don’t even pretend to think you’re not.
- Myles Turner ($6000): Scarcity, folks. Scarcity. Turner should be a consistent 35-37 FDP per game player, but his Michigan J. Frog-like tendencies frustrate the hell of out us all.
- Jakob Poeltl ($3900): Limited by minutes, so it’s best to avoid him.
- Meyers Leonard ($3500): Scarcity, folks. Scarcity.
