Welcome to the NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for Friday night’s Truck Series race from Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In Friday’s race, we only have 164 laps so we won’t be hunting for dominator points in this race. Instead, we will be looking for place differential and finishing position points and any dominator points we get will be a bonus. There is one place differential play that stands out in the top tier of this race, and a few in the mid-tier that we will want to build around.
NASCAR DFS: Dominators
Austin Hill ($10,700)
Starting Position: 11th
Hill is probably the best upside play in the top tier on Friday and is a cash game lock if playing. Earlier this season Hill finished 3rd at Vegas after starting 6th. Hill had some bad luck last week at Bristol and finished 26th, but before that he had five straight top 10 finishes, including three top 5’s.
Zane Smith ($10,100)
Starting Position: 7th
Zane Smith hasn’t had great luck of late and has an average finish of 14.6 in his last three races. Before the three poor finishes, Smith had two wins and four top 10 finishes in his previous five races. In the first race at Las Vegas this season, Smith started 15th but ended up with a 6th place finish.
Other Options: Brett Moffitt ($11,100), Christian Eckes ($9,900)
NASCAR DFS: Mid Tier
Dylan Lupton ($9,300)
Starting Position: 34th
This will be Lupton’s first Truck series race this season, but he does have experience at this track. Last season, Lupton finished 10th in at DGR truck, which is what he will be in on Friday. Lupton will be in the #17 truck that we last saw being driven by David Ragan. I don’t love the price for Lupton, but when we can get upside like this, I am willing to roll the dice and pay up for Lupton.
Derek Kraus ($8,400)
Starting Position: 14th
Derek Kraus is my favorite GPP play in this tier starting 14th with top 10, and maybe even top 5, potential. In his last ten races Kraus has only finished lower than 13th three times, has four top 10’s and two top 5’s. Kraus is a perfect GPP play and game log watchers may be scared off when you see the price and his recent finishes.
Connor Daly ($7,600)
Starting Position: 27th
This will be the first race for Connor Daly in a Truck, and only his second race in a NASCAR event in his career. Daly is a primary Indy car driver but will be in pretty good equipment and offers some good upside. A lot of people tend to fade drivers with no stats, and we can hopefully take advantage of this on Friday.
Other Options: Johnny Sauter ($9,500), Todd Gilliland ($9,100), Matt Crafton ($8,700), Stewart Friesen ($8,100), Ryan Truex ($7,700 – GPP ONLY)
NASCAR DFS: Value Tier Rankings

- Spencer Davis – $7,200 – P32
- Danny Bohn – $6,900 – P20
- Spencer Boyd – $5,700 – P29
- Tate Fogelman – $5,800 – P18
- Austin Wayne Self – $6,700 – P26
