Welcome to the NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for Saturday afternoon’s Cup Series Drydene 311 from Dover International Speedway. This is the first of two races this weekend for the Cup Series. We have dominator points available this week, and a lot of the. This is a race featuring 311 laps, meaning we get 233.25 dominator points available. Since we have so many points available I am going to recommend at least 2 dominators in your lineups along with some place differential plays for value.
Looking back over the last 2 years of races at Dover we will see that 1-2 drivers tend to dominate the entire race as passing here is not easy. In the 4 races at Dover between 2018-19 we saw two drivers in 3 of the 4 races lead over 100 laps, and in the fall of 2018 only Denny Hamlin ($10,200) led more then 100 laps (286 laps led).
NASCAR DFS: Dominators
Kevin Harvick ($11,400 )
Starting Position: 10th
Kevin Harvick will most likely be chalky even at this high price. People love playing Harvick, and with him having place differential upside like he does on Saturday, it makes sense. Is he expensive, yes, but he has fared well at Dover in his career. In his last four races here at Dover, Harvick has earned at least 113 DKFP in each of those races.
Chase Elliott ($10,000)
Starting Position: 1st
Chase Elliott has the best chance to dominate this race early on, and he is my pick to lead the most laps. Elliott has been nothing short of excellent in his career at Dover. In 8 races at Dover, Elliott has six top 5 finishes, including a win in the fall race of 2018. I definitely believe that Elliott can win this race and lead 200 laps from the pole.
Harvick and Elliott are my two favorites in this group, but every driver above $9,500 is in play for me, with maybe the exception of Ryan Blaney ($11,800). I don’t want to pay that kind of price for someone who has not had any real success here. Blaney has an average finish of 21.2 in eight races at Dover.
NASCAR DFS: Mid Tier
Because we are looking to load up on potential dominators on Saturday, we will most likely need to look more towards the lower priced mid tier drivers. Both Erik Jones ($9,200 – P13) and Austin Dillon ($8,700 – P32) are the best plays of higher priced drivers in this tier. Jones has dominator potential, and Dillon has tremendous place differential.
Christopher Bell ($7,600)
Starting Position: 18th
Christopher Bell is finally priced appropriately for where he starts and for his upside on Saturday. Bell also is at a price point we are looking for to add into our dominator stacks. In four races in the Xfinity Series at Dover, Bell has two wins, and three top 5’s, and even though it’s the Xfinity Series, it at least shows us that Bell knows how to run at Dover and could have a great day on Saturday.
Other Options: Aric Almirola ($8,900), Jimmie Johnson ($8,000)
