This weekend the Nascar Cup Series descends upon Talladega, Alabama for Sunday’s Geico 500. The 2.66 mile track is the one of 2 notorious for the big wrecks that eliminate numerous competitors in one fell swoop. Follow the picks below to dominate in the Nascar Cup Series Geico 500.
Drafting allows just about any team in the race an opportunity to win and opens up the door for so many possibilities in roster construction for DFS. This is one of the races where I really do not eliminate any of the lowered salary drivers while completely avoiding the majority of the high priced drivers. My biggest successes at these restrictor plate tracks have been with a construction of no more that 2 studs and majority of deep punts with a whole lot of salary left over.
TOP TIER
Brad Keselowski ($9,600) 5 wins at this track plants Brad firmly in the top spot of these rankings. 6 of the last 8 races here have been won by a Penske driver and Brad is in a solid position to add to that total.
Chase Elliott ($10,400) Chase showed some dominance out front last season at Talladega and has shown that he can be one of the few that can stay out front for a while.
Denny Hamlin ($9,200) Denny is another excellent racer at restrictor plate tracks and he has shown an ability to be around at the end with a chance to win on multiple occasions.
Joey Logano ($10,200) He has strung together some really solid finishes the last couple years and Penske has some really strong cars for these tracks.
Also consider: Bowyer, Bell, Blaney, Harvick, Ky Busch
MID TIER
Ricky Stenhouse Jr ($8,400) Ricky is a multiple plate race winner and a driver who is not afraid to aggravate every other driver to get to the front and stay there.
Matt Kenseth ($8,700) Kenseth is another one who has multiple wins at plate tracks. Look for the veteran to be in the mix.
Brendan Gaughan ($7,600) Brendan only runs the plate tracks in the series and he always finds himself running near the front towards the end.
Ty Dillon ($7,100) Ty has been very fortunate to be running at the checkered flag the last few times out. That is all you are looking for in this race format.
Also consider: Wallace, Dibenedetto, Busch, Byron, Jones.
