MLB GPP Picks 8/2
In this article I will be breaking down MLB GPP Picks 8/2 seven game slate. I will hit a player from each position. If I am interested in a player on only one site, I will be site specific. I will be using DraftKings pricing for this article.
We have a full Sunday full of sports and my basketball article is already written. Here I will be diving into my MLB GPP Picks 8/2 with a smaller seven game main slate. Pitching again is very ugly on this slate as Aaron Civale is the highest priced pitcher squaring off against the Twins. Pitching will be tough to get correct on this slate, as not many of these pitchers have real strikeout upside. Join myself and the rest of the WinDaily staff in the Discord chat as we confirm our selections and strategies as team lineups trickle in.
Pitcher
DylanCease – ($8,400)
As amentioned already pitching is going to be tough to figure out, but if Civale isgoing to be the highest priced pitcher like he is expected to be I will fadethat. I will role out Cease as he faces the Royals and he has a K rate of 24%.The Royals have six high strikeout hitters, and two of the hitters that aren’t highstrikeout players beat the ball into the ground at a near 50% rate.
Catcher
YasmaniGrandal – ($4,200)
I picked plentyof White Sox hitters last night and that paid off and I’m going right back tothe well as they face off against Jakob Junis who has yet to pitch this season andhad an ERA above five last season. Junis has lefties hit an exit velocity above95MPH nearly 44% of the time last season. Getting a switch-hitting catcherbatting cleanup is a bargain majority of the time.
1stBase
Jose Martinez– ($4,500)
Martinez isanother good Tampa Bay right hand hitter that hits lefties extremely well as heholds a .293 ISO and a .416 wOBA. Jose Martinez is extremely impressive againstlefties though as he only makes soft contact 9% of the time leaving his battedballs against lefties at 91% medium or hard contact.
2ndbase
JuricksonProfar – ($4,900)
Carryingonly a 14% strikeout rate and a near 80% contact rate against right handedpitching stands out. It stands out even further facing a pitcher that fails tomiss bats as Senzatela only has a 7% swinging strike rate, and an unimpressive13% K rate. I like Padres because of this in general but Profar should havezero issues putting the ball in play today with this matchup.
3rdbase
Rio Ruiz –($3,300)
Baltimorehas been surprisingly not as terrible as everyone thought they would thisseason in large due Ruiz as he is hitting above .318 and already has threehomeruns. I’m not sure how he is still priced this low, but he is facinganother right handed pitcher in Baltimore. On this slate it will be tough tofind a guy with this upside an production for the price,
Shortstop
FransiscoLindor – ($4,700)
Facing the Twinsand Devin Smeltzer today, Lindor should be a in for a good day. Smeltzerstruggles against right-handed hitters as he allows just 7.7% soft contact, buthe also is giving up nearly 45% hard hit rate against righties as well. AnIndians stack is definitely in play here as they have a very favorable matchup.
Outfielders
HunterRenfroe – ($4,300)
Let’s startoff with Renfroe smashes left handed pitching, he has a .317 ISO againstlefties. His fly ball rate is one we drool over at 52.4%, that correlates withhis air distance of 334.7 feet. Lastly, when squaring off against leftiesRenfroe has an exit velocity above 95MPH nearly 40% of the time! Looking at howRenfroe hits lefties and knowing Tommy Milone is far from a quality left handedpitcher, Renfroe should be in for a good day.
AdamDuvall – ($4,400)
The total forthis game is at 11 runs, which is the second highest total on the slate only behindthe Rockies game. Duvall smashes left handed pitching, he proves that with hismassive ISO of .396 against lefties. His fly ball rate and hard hit rate shouldbe a recipe for success as his fly ball rate is an absurd 64%, pair that withhis hard hit rate of 50% against lefties.
Thank you for reading my content MLB GPP Picks 8/2 seven game slate. Even though it is a smaller Sunday Matinee slate we should have plenty of offense due to the lack of pitching today. For my main stacks today, it will be the Padres, Rays, Cubs, Indians and White Sox. If you get those pitchers right today you should have a very profitable afternoon. Enjoy your Sunday full of sports as we have MLB, NBA, NHL, and Nascar on this wonderful day with sports back in full swing. Best of luck with all your DFS lineups on this action-packed day!
