He struck out eight.Vargas racked up 41.65 fantasy points. Vargas now has a 3.57 ERA and a WHIP of1.35. The strikeout numbers were good and raised his K/9 to 7.35 on the year.

Vargas will get his next chance tostart on Monday, June 10th against the New York Yankees. The Yankees have a Top10 offense this year and average 5.3 runs per game. They also have a teambatting average of .258, which ranks eighth in the league. I will be fadingVargas in this one as it will be played at Yankee Stadium.
BrianAnderson ($3,700)
Anderson and the Marlins once againtook it to the Brewers and a lot of the damage came early. Anderson went3-for-4 with a home run while batting in the three spot. He added a double andalso took a walk. Anderson scored two times and added four RBI. He scored 37fantasy points. Anderson’s batting average is now .240 and he has an OPS ofonly .690. He has played better lately and has a batting average of .357 inJune.

Anderson and the Marlins have onemore game against the Brewers Thursday. They will face Brandon Woodruff, who haspitched pretty well this year. He has an ERA under four and a WHIP of 1.20. TheMarlins offense has been good the first two games of the series but expect someregression in this game. I will be fading Anderson Thursday.
ChrisSale ($10,600)
Sale and the Red Sox were bigfavorites against the Royals on Wednesday and dominated the game, winning 8-0.Sale was impressive and pitched a complete game three hitter. He racked up 12strikeouts and scored 51.45 fantasy points, tops on the night. Sale improved to2-7 on the year. He now has an ERA of 3.84 and an impressive WHIP of exactly 1.00.His K/9 is also looking great at 12.81.

Sale’s next projected start is onMonday, June 10th at home against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers offense hasbeen very good this year and averages 5.76 runs per game. They have a very goodteam batting average of .257. One good thing in this matchup is that theRangers have the sixth most strikeouts in the league. Sale’s ERA is not greatso far, but his strikeout numbers will keep him as an elite fantasy pitcher forthe remainder of the year.
Losers
JakeArrieta ($8,000)
Arrieta and the Phillies played thePadres in San Diego and won 7-5. The win did not get credited to Arrieta as hestruggled badly in this one. He was only able to get through 4.2 innings andgave up five earned runs on seven hits and five walks. Arrieta gave up two homeruns to the Padres. He was also only able to strike out three. Arrieta now hasa 4.29 ERA to go with a WHIP of 1.43. His K/9 is also low this year at 7.35.This was Arrieta’s second straight game giving up five earned and three homeruns.

Arrieta’s next projected start willcome against the Diamondbacks at home on June 11th. The Diamondbacks have agood offense this year and average over five runs per game with a team battingaverage of .257. Both of these stats are in the Top 10 in the league. Arrietahas scuffled recently and I do not see this as a spot for him to bounce back.Hold off for another start and revisit him in his next outing.
HowieKendrick ($5,800)
Kendrick and the Washington Nationalshosted the White Sox on Wednesday. They were able to get the win 6-4, but noneof the offense was because of Kendrick. He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout andscored zero fantasy points. Kendrick is having a really good year and has abatting average of .322 with an OPS of .953. He has hit 10 home runs to go withnine doubles and 35 RBI.

The Washington Nationals now head toSan Diego for a four game series against the Padres. The Padres have the 10thranked team ERA in the Majors at 4.16. They allow a team batting average of.241, which also ranks 10th in the league. The Padres have struggled lately andhave a team ERA of 5.94 over their last six games. Kendrick has been very solidthis year and this looks to have been an outlier game Wednesday. RosterKendrick moving forward as he should get back to putting together a good season.
