MLB DFS Winners and Losers: Sweet Beede-tory

We had 11 games on Monday June 17th’s slate due to a postponed game between Philadelphia and Washington. All points and values are based off DraftKings.

Winners

Lance Lynn ($9,500)

Lance Lynn had arguably his best start of the season last night against the Cleveland Indians. He went seven innings and gave up one run on six hits and struck out nine Indians without allowing a walk. His one mistake was a solo home run to Francisco Lindor in the fifth inning. Lynn has been pitching relatively well recently, so keep him on your radar.

Lynn’s Outlook

Lance Lynn is giving you exactly what you need out of a starting pitcher. This was his eighth consecutive quality start, ranging back to May 10. He was able to keep a bottom-of-the league hitting team off the bases for the most part. Cleveland ranks only ahead of Detroit, San Francisco and Toronto in terms of team batting average. Lynn’s next start is scheduled for Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox rank 23rd in OBP so this should be another typical recent Lance Lynn start this weekend.

Cavan Biggio ($3,200)

Cavan Biggio had one of his best statistical games last night against the Los Angeles Angels. He went 2-for-2 with both hits leaving the yard, three RBI and a pair of walks. He upped his average to .233 in a limited sample of 60 at-bats. Biggio has been heating up as of late and should be added to your DFS lineups.

Biggio’s Outlook

Cavan Biggio has been swinging well during his six-game hitting streak, going 8-for-21 during that stretch. Biggio’s season average is low due to having one hit in the eight games before the hitting streak began. Biggio and the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series against the Angels and will face Tyler Skaggs. Biggio should be able to continue his hitting streak and get on base multiple times.

Tyler Beede ($5,400)

Tyler Beede provided a solid game against the Los Angeles Dodgers last night. He threw six innings and gave up one run on three hits. The only issue was his command, as he gave up five walks and had seven strikeouts. The only run given up by Beede was a solo home run off the bat of Max Muncy in the second inning. Beede is all over the spectrum in terms of results, so avoid investing in him in his next start.

Beede’s Outlook

Tyler Beede delivered his second quality start in his four starting appearances. His ERA lowered to 6.67 after yesterday’s performance. This was the first career victory for Beede and came against the best National League team in terms of OPS. His next scheduled start is Saturday on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks, until he can prove this wasn’t a one-time thing, fade Beede.

Losers

Rafael Devers ($4,400)

Rafael Devers did not record a hit in four at-bats with a strikeout and he left two runners on base against the Minnesota Twins. He had an off night, but is expected to continue his hot streak that he was currently on. Continue to lock Devers into your lineups.

Devers’ Outlook

Rafael Devers has been one of the best hitters in the past week, going 11-for-his-last-31 (.355) with two home runs and five RBI and only four strikeouts. The Boston Red Sox continue their series in Minnesota against the Twins and will face Michael Pineda. He has been very hittable this season with a 5.04 ERA, so continue to plug Devers in.

Mike Clevinger ($8,700)

Mike Clevinger lasted 4.2 innings and gave up five runs on three hits against Texas. He also had three walks and seven punchouts. The Rangers were able to get Clevinger’s pitch count up early and forced manager Terry Francona to head to the bullpen earlier than expected.

Clevinger’s Outlook

Mike Clevinger struggled against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. This was his first start since April 7 so the rust was to be expected. No matter how many minor league hitters a pitcher faces on a rehab assignment, he cannot emulate Major League hitters. His next start is on Saturday against the divisional-rival Detroit Tigers. Now that he has a start under his belt after returning from injury and a weak opposing lineup to face, Clevinger should be ready to provide a solid outing.

Injury Update

The Texas Rangers placed Hunter Pence on the 10-day Injured List with a groin injury prior to yesterday’s game.

Scooter Gennett started his rehab assignment from a groin injury that occurred during Spring Training and has sidelined him the entire season thus far. The plan is to have him play five games at Single-A Daytona and move up to Triple-A Louisville until he feels ready to join the Reds.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed starter Jerad Eickhoff on the 10-day Injured List with a bicep injury.
