Due to a rainout between the Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals, which will be a doubleheader today, we had a 10-game slate on Monday July 22. All points and price values are based off DraftKings. The Yankees certainly disappointed DFS players.
Winners
Ivan Nova ($4,800)
Ivan Nova dominated the Miami Marlins last night, pitching a complete game while only giving up a run on four hits with five strikeouts. He only made one mistake, a solo home run by Jorge Alfaro in the second inning. He was able to lower his ERA to 5.49 after this outing.
Nova’s Outlook
Ivan Nova has been pitching better lately, as he has 4.04 ERA in his last seven starts. This was Nova’s best performance in a month. His next scheduled start is Saturday against the Minnesota Twins. Fade Nova since the Twins have the ability to capitalize on some mistakes that the Marlins’ hitters weren’t able to.
Aledmys Diaz ($3,800)
Aledmys Diaz only had one hit against the Oakland Athletics, but he made it count. He went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a pair of runs. He now has six HRs and 25 RBI with a .325 OBP on the season. He seems to be on one of the best streaks in his career so continue to ride the high and have him in your lineup.
Diaz’s Outlook
Diaz is hitting everything that is thrown his way as of late. In his last 15 games, he is hitting .354 with a 1.060 OPS. That type of hitter at the bottom of the lineup is huge for an Astros team with their sights on November. The Astros continue their series against the Oakland Athletics today and face Mike Fiers, who has been one of the best pitchers since May. Look for Diaz to live up to the battle.
Losers
CC Sabathia ($8,600)
CC Sabathia struggled against the Minnesota Twins last night. He went four innings and allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The issue was mainly trying to keep the baseball in the park as he allowed four home runs. His ERA rose to 4.50 for the season. Fade Sabathia in his next start, as it comes against another power lineup.
Sabathia’s Outlook
CC’s start in Minnesota didn’t go as planned for the southpaw. The 22 home runs given up so far in 2019 is tied for the third-most he has given up in a single season. The Twins hit the long ball better than any other team in the sport, so their approach didn’t come as a surprise. Sabathia will be on the mound on Saturday afternoon in Boston against the Red Sox. Boston has been hitting well the entire season so look for another pitcher on that slate.
Aaron Hicks ($4,600)
Aaron Hicks struggled against the Minnesota Twins last night, going hitless in five at-bats with three strikeouts and he left four runners on base. His role is to have a high OBP and play solid defense for the Yankees. His OBP was lowered to .332. Look for Aaron Hicks to shake off this game today.
Hicks’ Outlook
Hicks has been one of the best Yankees hitters in the past few weeks. In the last 15 games, he has posted a .988 OPS. The Yankees continue their series with the Minnesota Twins tonight and face Kyle Gibson, who struggled in his performance against the Yankees earlier this season. Look for Hicks to take advantage of his former team.
Injury Update
Shawn Kelley of the Texas Rangers was placed on the 10-day IL with bicep soreness. Jose LeClerc should be Texas’ primary closer while Kelley is out.
Danny Salazar and David Peralta of the Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks, respectively were sent out on rehab assignments.
