Welcome back MLB DFS fans! Tonight, we have another solid slate on DraftKings with big prizes pools to take down so let’s get started with our top MLB DFS picks for today’s slate!
For those of you new to Picks and Pivots, the goal of this MLB DFS article each and every day is to provide you a “First Look” overview of the slate where we use DraftKings pricing as a baseline to help us get started. Rather than simply write out the “top plays,” this article will focus on slate strategy and roster construction with a GPP mindset to help you get started on your initial builds. Without further ado, let’s dive into today’s slate!
MLB DFS Picks and Pivots: Starting Pitchers
After a big time night of MLB DFS for the Win Daily team (yeah, we see those take downs in Discord) – we are back for a big Wednesday slate which starts at 6:05PM EST and includes 14 games.
We have a ton of elite arms on this slate and I think you need to have at least one in your lineups tonight. My dude Adam broke down the arms in great detail in Starting Rotation today so I won’t simply regurgitate what he outlined.
We have a ton of high K arms but it is hard to argue that any single arm has a better floor/ceiling spot tonight than Kenta Maeda ($9.2K) as he takes on the highest K spot in baseball against the Detroit Tigers.
Over the last two weeks, five arms have delivered 30+ DK point games against the Tigers – some obvious names like Shane Bieber, but some not so obvious ones like Brady Singer who struck out 8 Tigers back on the 16th.
Maeda has a path to a ceiling any time he can go against a righty heavy team, as his 37% K rate against RHB is 10% more than lefties and this Tigers projected lineup has five right-handed bats in the projected starting nine today. Giddy up.
There is a high dollar offense that I want to go all in on tonight – which means going cheap at SP2 and the play that jumps out to me is Dean Kremer ($6.7K) against the Red Sox.
MLB DFS Picks and Pivots: Bats and Stacks
As much as a top dollar SP1 is a key today – so too is a five man high dollar stack that will be at the core of my builds today – and that is the New York Yankees against LHP Robbie Ray.
Ray has been simply awful against RHB this season, with a .320 ISO mark and a walk rate that is just 6% away from catching his K rate (not great Bob). All this command issues around a 50% plus hard contact and fly ball rate and well this could be some serious HR derby tonight for the Bombers.
The top five bats in this Yankee line-up – DJ, Judge, Stanton, Voit and Torres – all have .240+ ISO marks against LHP since 2019 and you can move down to the bottom of the order and get similar .200+ marks from guys like Urshela/Sanchez and Frazier.
Honestly – there are so many ways to stack the Yankees here tonight – top/bottom/wrap-around – and the beauty of this is after Ray you get a Blue Jays bullpen that has given up the most runs in all of baseball the last 30 days.
I cannot stress this enough – stack the Yankees.
Now going with a pricey SP1 and the Yankees bats means finding a cheap secondary stack and that is where Arizona catches me eye against LHP Wes Benjamin and the Rangers. The D Backs are CHEAP – like way too cheap – as you can get someone like Ketel Marte ($2.9K) who has a .275 ISO against LHP the last two seasons or Tim Locastro ($2.8K) as a lead-off and form a nice 1-2 mini-stack at the top of the lineup.
MLB DFS Picks and Pivots: Wrap up
Again – this slate at first glance is crystal clear to me – get one top SP1 and 5 Yankees – then it becomes the path you like the most. The key for me today is finding the cheap bats/SP2 that make this all work – and that is where Discord comes in – it is how we landed on Brault yesterday and that dialogue all day will lead us to a big night once again!
