Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Stack City, where I’ll be going through the top MLB DFS Stacks on DraftKings and Fanduel.
Once again, we have a large afternoon slate of 10 games that serves as the featured slot for the largest MLB DFS contests on both sites starting at 12:10 PM EST and concluding with the SEA-CLE game at 2:40 PM. Since the pitching options today include just one ace over $10K on DraftKings and a few weather-sensitive games, we could be looking at a busy few minutes right up until lock.
Now it’s time to get to the stacks and build that bankroll!
MLB DFS Hitter Stacks – 12:10 PM EST
New York Mets vs. Erick Fedde
The Mets’ bats went uncharacteristically quiet last night in a prime spot vs. Patrick Corbin. But Corbin pitched extremely well in what was probably his best second-best performance of 2022. That’s two starts in a row for Corbin, so we’ll have to make a mental note to dig deep before his next start before making any assumptions and just going right to attack mode.
Today, however, the Mets face a very hittable Erick Fedde, and the five batters I’m most interested in are a collective 23-for-54 against him in their careers. Normally I don’t worry too much about BvP, but Fedde has given up eight HRs over his last seven games, and I’m targeting players with XBH against him, including Pete Alonso, Starling Marte, Mark Canha, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil. There’s only one LHB in that group, but Fedde has more trouble with RHB (.364 wOBA this season), and McNeil is actually the weakest link from a OPS (in the BvP data) perspective at .937, with the switch-hitting Lindor next at .946 (5-14, HR, BB). Canha’s perfect at 3-for-3 and Marte is only other Met who’s homered against the veteran hurler.
Game Stack: Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox
Both teams looked like their offenses could get going yesterday before settling into a relatively humdrum 5-3 win for Boston, but this has all the makings of a higher-scoring game with more heat and humidity helping some balls over the Green Monster in Fenway’s left field. My favorite Texas Rangers options against Josh Winckowski are Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Jonah Heim, Adolis Garcia and Nate Lowe, but I’m a sucker for finding room for value and Ezekiel Duran and Kole Calhoun both fit the bill if they start.
On the Boston side, Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts are heating up a little more and make sense alongside the left-handed bat of Alex Verdugo. Tommy Pham seems to have a lock on the leadoff spot these days, and Triston Casas (at the DK minimum $2K) could get the nod as he’s being called up from Triple-A Worcester as Bobby Dalbec is send down to the minors again.
Since my SP strategy today is finding value in the $6.5-9K range, there’s no issue fitting the aforementioned Red Sox hitters with two or three Rangers bats.
GPP Value Stack: Baltimore Orioles vs. Adrian Martinez
Ryan Mountcastle homered twice last night and leads off my favorite Orioles stack of the day, and after Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander I can make some decisions about spending up for Adley Rutschman. There’s a lot to be interested in when it coms to Gunnar Henderson, but perhaps the most interesting thing is that he’s a SS/3B who just SS-eligible earlier and now has just 2B eligibility on DK. On a day without mazing 2B options that works fine for me.
The O’s have rally come alive at the plate as they try to squeeze themslves into the playoffs, but I’d cation against a fukllstack on a day with the TEX-BOS game and Mets stack such affordable options.
GPP Value Stack 2: Chicago White Sox vs. Dylan Bundy
We can begin with Elvis Andrus, who went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in yesterday’s 13-0 win over the Twins. In his last seven games, the veteran infielder has gone 11-for-29 (.379) with two homers, seven RBI, five runs and a double, excelling from the leadoff spot in the White Sox order.
Andrus has actually struggled vs. Bundy in his career (2-for-18), but Bundy is not the type of pitcher I worry about keeping that type of dominance up. Gavin Sheets, Andrew Vaughn, Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez and value options A.J. Pollock, Josh Harrison and Romy Gonzalez make the most sense for the remainder of the player pool.
Pollock is just $3,500 and offers plenty of upside at that price.
Also consider:
Not-so-sneaky GPP Stack – New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays (Bullpen game): Aaron Judge, D.J. LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, Josh Donaldson and Oswaldo Cabrera stand out as the best NYY options.
Sneaky GPP Stack – Detroit Tigers vs. Max Castillo (KCR): Riley Greene, Victor Reyes Harold Castro and Kerry Carpenter are all pretty cheap and match up well against the Royals’ Castillo. If you’re badly in need of value, they could help out.
Good luck today, and please remember to use the projections and show us those green screens in Discord!
