Saturday evening boasts a seven-game slate with some great spots. Let’s find some spots to attack and crush the weekend as we head into Sunday!
MLB DFS Aces
Tanner Bibee vs Detroit Tigers
Bibee has been an enormous addition to the Cleveland rotation, and is in a good spot here. Some of the Tigers bats have come alive recently (looking at you, Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson), but Bibee has been able to navigate some tough waters.
Bibee has been fantastic this season, posting a 2.90 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 106/35 K/BB over 108.2 innings of work.
He has allowed 3 ER or less in 15 of his last 16 outings, and has been the model of consistency. The Tigers have a few bats that can do some damage, but any lineup with Javy Baez in it is a target.
I’m banking on Bibee to continue his success against a lineup that is ranked near the bottom of the league in most categories in 2023.
Sonny Gray vs Pittsburgh Pirates
Gray has had a resurgence in 2023, and has quietly been one of the best pitchers in MLB. He owns a 3.04 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 140/47 K/BB over 136.1 innings of work.
The Pirates have crashed back down to earth after a hot start to 2023. Gray has been excellent overall, allowing just 7 ER over 25 innings across his last four starts.
The return of Ke’Bryan Hayes has given this lineup a boost, but aside from him and Bryan Reynolds, there really isn’t a hitter that concerns me here.
Gray and the Twins are listed as -175 favorites here, and for good reason.
Kodai Senga vs St. Louis Cardinals
Senga has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a disaster of a season for the Mets. He boasts a 3.30 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 149/59 K/BB over 122.2 strong innings in 2023.
He faced the Cardinals in June with mixed results, striking out 8 over 6.2 innings while allowing 4 ER.
This is a matchup of two teams who have b en major disappointments this season. Senga is making a name for himself, and I like the spot for him tonight.
MLB DFS Stacks
Chicago White Sox vs Kyle Freeland
Another team that has been nothing short of disappointing this year is the White Sox. Fortunately for them, they face off against Kyle Freeland in Coors Field. Freeland has his moments where he can work some magic and limit damage, but overall he is still a poor pitcher.
On the season, he has a 4.94 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and just a 77/36 K/BB in 124 innings. Even better for the Sox, he has served up six longballs over his last three starts.
Luis Robert is the clear top option here. With Eloy Jimenez on paternity leave for the series, the team called up Lenyn Sosa, and he should get work with another young prospect in Oscar Colas here. Andrew Vaughn and Yoan Moncada come into this spot with some upside as well.
San Fransisco Giants vs Yonny Chirinos
Yonny Chirinos has had his moments where he in an effective pitcher in the majors. That said, his time with Atlanta has been rocky. He has gotten clobbered in two straight starts, allowing 12 ER to the Mets and Pirates over just 9.2 innings of work.
He isn’t much of a strikeout pitcher, as he has just 49 punchouts in 81 innings of work while allowing 14 HR.
The Giants should be able to pounce on him early and often in this one.
A night after being held to just one hit over seven innings by Spencer Strider, the Giants should have no problem putting runs on the board here.
Michael Conforto, LaMonte Wade Jr., Joc Pederson, and Thairo Estrada are my main targets here. The Giants can be a source of value depending on how the lineup shakes out.
Colorado Rockies vs Jesse Scholtens
The Rockies are fresh off putting up a 9-spot off Michael Kopech and 14 runs overall. Scholtens has been a usable pitcher in many spots, but his propensity for pitching to contact likely won’t end well for him here.
Ezequiel Tovar and Ryan McMahon are swinging hot bats and are my priority targets here. Nolan Jones, Brendan Rodgers, and Elias Diaz are all in play for me here also.
