Mitch’s 2/28 NBA position Breakdown

In this article, I will break down each position with my top stud, middle tier, and value plays for this NBA DFS slate. I will be referring to DraftKings on pricing. Most picks are for GPP/Tournaments, some would also be viable for cash games.

We have a ten-game NBA slate tonight, and it’s setting up to be a busy one as two of the top three priced players are listed Questionable. Serge Ibaka will be another status we will want to watch throughout the day. It looks like we are going to have a crazy afternoon with injury news, so you’re going to want to make sure you tune into the Discord chat rooms with myself and the rest of the WinDaily staff as we evaluate the injury news that comes in and further breakdown our favorite plays.

Point Guard

TraeYoung – Stud – ($10,500)

Trae played through the illness last game against Orlando so I think that he will play here unless it got worse. He doesn’t have a terrible matchup against Brooklyn who has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to point guards this NBA season and rank tenth fastest in pace. Trae has played the Nets twice this season and is averaging 64 fantasy points in those two games. Atlanta is at home tonight and Young is averaging nearly seven more fantasy points at home this season.

Dennis Schroder – Mid-tier – ($5,600)

I really like this spot for Schroder, a huge pace up spot against Milwaukee the fastest team in the NBA this season. He has had this matchup once earlier this season and scores 45.5 fantasy points in that game. The price on him is still too cheap for me I will roll him out again as he has a high floor, and this should be a game he can get to his ceiling.

Patrick Beverley– Value – ($4,100)

Still working back from his injury, Beverley was still on a minute’s limit last game but reached nearly 25 minutes. This is a big tilt against Denver, and I think Beverley should be able to shake his minute’s restriction here. He scored 21 fantasy points in those 24 minutes that he played. Denver is the second slowest team in the NBA this season, in one prior matchup this season however Beverley scored 29 fantasy points.

Shooting Guard

Jrue Holiday – Stud – ($8,200)

This is about as good of a matchup as Holiday can get facing the Cavaliers who have allowed the most fantasy points to point guards and shooting guards throughout this season. Cleveland is also the second-worst defensive team in the NBA this season. Holiday has seen 37 minutes or more in three out of his last four games as well. I also like some Devin Booker at shooting guard with Kelly Oubre still out.

Terrence Ross – Mid-tier – ($5,400)

I’ve been attacking players that play Minnesota recently and I will continue to do so. The Wolves in the last six games are the fastest team in the NBA and rank second-worst in team defensive efficiency. The Wolves have also given up the second most total fantasy point over the past month.

De’Anthony Melton – Value – ($4,400)

If Melton starts again which I think he will I like him again at this price. He only played 24 minutes last game against Houston due to a massive blowout. This game should be close as they are playing Sacramento on the second leg of a back to back. If he starts and this game stays close, he should see close to 30 or more minutes with a usage rate of 20 percent he should be able to pay off this salary. Lots of injury news on tonight’s NBA slate so if Luka gets ruled out Delon Wright would take this spot.

Small Forward

Caris Levert – Stud – ($8,300)

He gets a fantastic matchup against the Hawks who lead the NBA in fantasy points given up to small forwards. The Hawks are the seventh-fastest team and rank third-worst in team defensive efficiency. Levert leads the nets in usage percentage over the past month with a usage of 30.6 percent. Great matchup for a player that has taken 20 or more shots in four out of his last five games.

Buddy Hield – Mid tier – ($6,000)

I like Buddy more here if Fox is out, but I have an interest in him either way. If Fox is out again Hield leads Sacramento in usage with a usage rate of 29 percent. Memphis is the sixth fastest team in the NBA while giving up the second-most fantasy points to shooting guards and the fourth-most fantasy points to small forwards on the season.

Royce O’Neal – Value – ($4,000)

It has been said that O’neale will be a starter moving forward and with his last start, he saw 28 minutes. If O’neale is going to start and play around 30 minutes I love him in this spot against Washington to shoot threes and collect a couple steals. Washington is the fourth fastest team in the NBA, and they are the worst team in defensive efficiency. A starter against the Wizards at only 4k will get my attention every time.

Power Forward

Aaron Gordon – Stud – ($8,200)

Orlando is fighting for a playoff spot and Aaron Gordon has been on a tear lately playing more than 40 minutes and scoring more than 50 fantasy points in three out of his last four games. He couldn’t ask for a better matchup right now facing the Wolves who over their last six games have been the fastest team in the NBA and are the second-worst team in defensive efficiency. I will also say that Vucevic is in play as well, but I don’t want to list three magic players on this big NBA slate.

Larry Nance Jr. – Mid-tier – ($5,900)

Andre Drummond has already been ruled out so that keeps frontcourt minutes open for Cleveland. Nance faces New Orleans who is the third-fastest team in the NBA this season. Nance has been seeing around 30 minutes per game recently and this is a prime pace up spot for him. Nance has already seen this matchup and scored 47 fantasy points in only 25 minutes.

Chris Boucher – Value – ($3,400)

This is a play that you will have to watch some injury news on if Ibaka does get ruled out then Boucher and Rhonda Hollis-Jefferson would both be great plays. The matchup is great as Charlotte has surrendered the second-most fantasy points to centers in the NBA this season. I think Ibaka will sit in the game since Toronto shouldn’t have any issues against Charlotte without him.

Center

Deandre Ayton – Stud – ($8,100)

Ayton has seen 35 or more minutes in four out of his last five games, reaching over 50 fantasy points in three of those five. He matched up against this Detroit team under a month ago going for 55.5 fantasy points. With Oubre off the floor, this season Ayton has the second-highest usage rate on the team at 26.3 percent. Playing big minutes and no Oubre I don’t see why Ayton can’t reach 50 fantasy points for a second consecutive game. If Luka gets ruled out you can’t forget about Porzingis in this spot. On this given NBA slate I will have two centers in most of my lineup builds,

Jarrett Allen – Mid-tier – ($5,100)

I like both Brooklyn centers here in this spot against Atlanta, as the Hawks may only end up having one health center in this matchup. Over the last month, the Hawks lead the NBA in fantasy points given up to centers, giving up 63.6 fantasy points per game to opposing big men. It shows in Allen’s three games against Atlanta, as he is averaging 35 fantasy points in those three games. Atlanta ranks the seventh-fastest team in pace, and third-worst team in terms of defensive efficiency.

Bruno Fernando – Value – ($3,400)

There is a chance that Fernando will be the Hawks only active center for this game as Damian Jones is questionable with an illness. If Jones doesn’t play, I like Fernando even more as he would be the only healthy center and he has played 20 minutes in two straight games. Brooklyn has also given up the fourth-most fantasy points to centers throughout the NBA season. Mostly a minutes play here as he could be the only center active.

Tonight’s ten-game NBA slate is setting up to be a wild one, with two of the three highest-priced players being listed as questionable. I do also like Rudy Gobert at center facing Washington. A couple of games I will be targeting are Minnesota at Orlando (mostly Orlando players), Brooklyn at Atlanta, Washington at Utah (mostly Utah players). With the significant injury news that we will be waiting on, you’re going to want to check out the Discord chat rooms, as I and the rest of the WinDaily staff will evaluate injury news as it comes in and further breakdown our favorite plays. Thank you for reading my article and good luck!
