Mitch’s 2/21 NBA position Breakdown

In this article, I will break down each position with my top stud, middle tier, and value plays for this NBA DFS slate. I will be referring to DraftKings on pricing. Most picks are for GPP/Tournaments, some would also be viable for cash games.

This nine-game NBA DFS slate is filled with injury news, including two of the highest-priced players in Towns and Lillard.  The two worst Defensive rated teams in the league face off this evening should result in a high scoring game. There are several other injuries on this slate so be sure to check out the Discord chat room with the WinDaily staff as we further breakdown our picks and injury news.

Point Guard

Luka Doncic – Stud – ($10,600)

I get it this matchup isn’t one that we all drool over, but it’s Luka at $10,600 on DraftKings! This is probably the lowest price that we’ve seen Doncic at for the rest of the NBA season. Minutes shouldn’t be a worry as Doncic did play 31 minutes in his return from injury before the All-star break. If Luka is going to be low owned it’s hard to avoid him at this price.

Dennis Schroeder – Mid-tier – ($5,600)

Here we have another play that is just simply too cheap for tonight’s NBA slate. Scoring 30 fantasy points in eight out of his last 10 games that’s hard to pass on. In his previous matchup with Denver, Schroder scored 35 fantasy points. The spread of this game is -1 in favor of Oklahoma City. Schroder should see 30+ minutes here.

Anfernee Simons – Value – ($3,500)

With the Trail Blazers players that are out Simons moves into second on the team in usage percentage at 21.3%. His fantasy points per 36 minutes check out extremely well with 34.4 fantasy points per 36. He is in the game with the second-highest total on this NBA slate facing the 3rd fastest team in the league.

Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal – Stud – ($9,400)

Cleveland has the second-worst defensive rating and has given up the most fantasy points to shooting guards throughout the NBA season. This game has the highest total on the slate at 236. Washington is trying to make a playoff push right now, resulting in Beal logging 34 or more minutes in 9 straight games. Beal is seeing a usage rate of 37.6% over the previous 10 games hard not to like Beal in this amazing matchup.

Cj McCollum – Mid-tier ($6,600)

Lillard is out tonight so this pick should come as no surprise. McCollum sees a usage rate of 39.5% taking Lillard off the floor this season. Portland likes to play their starters big minutes as McCollum is seeing 39 or more minutes in three out of Portland’s last four games. Drawing a fantastic matchup as this game with currently the second-largest total on the NBA slate at 235 points and the Pelicans are the third-fastest teams in the league.

Malik Beasley – Value – ($5,400)

I know this isn’t exactly the value, but It’s unlikely that I go any lower than 5k at shooting guard on this NBA slate. In the three games with the Timberwolves Beasley has seen the most minutes on the team, a usage percentage of 26.7%, and two games with more than 40 fantasy points. In the previous game without Towns, Beasley shot over 20 times. Towns is out again tonight.

  Small Forward

Jayson Tatum – Stud – ($7,800)

Kemba Walker has already been ruled out for tonight’s game, meaning Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward are also good plays but I won’t list them all out. Tatum sees the most usage on the team at 32.4%, with Walker off the floor this NBA season. Finding an excellent matchup against the Wolves who have the third-fastest pace in the past three games with their newly acquired pieces.

Demar DeRozan – Mid-tier – ($6,800)

Missing the two games before the All-star break must be the reason for his price drop. DraftKings has dropped DeRozan’s salary $1,300 since his last appearance which is absurd for a guy that was priced at $8,700 just 18 days ago subtract 7 of those days for the NBA All-star break. When he plays his minutes are safe as he has 15 straight games with 30 minutes or more. He doesn’t draw the best matchup, but he has played Utah this season and went off for 51.25 fantasy points in that game. Keep in mind Aldridge missed the prior matchup against Utah.

Kevin Porter Jr. – Value – ($4,700)

Cleveland finally seems to be letting Porter loose, as he has seen 30 or more minutes in two out of his last three games. Cedi Osman and Porter are currently the only two small forwards available for the Cavaliers currently, so I expect around 30 minutes again. He sees a fantastic match against the Wizards who rank last in team defensive efficiency, they hold the fourth-fastest pace in the NBA and have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to small forwards this season.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis – Stud – ($9,900)

Davis has played Memphis twice this season and Memphis hasn’t been able to stop him. In those two games, Davis is averaging 32 points, 12 rebounds, and over 60 fantasy points. In two of his last four games, he has seen 40 or more minutes, which tells me he’s healthy. He sees a plus match against the fifth-fastest team in the NBA as well.

Brandon Ingram – Mid-tier – ($6,800)

Let’s start with this match is amazing as Portland holds the 4th worst defensive efficiency and has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to power forwards over the course of this NBA season. In the two previous matchups facing Portland, Ingram has averaged 44 fantasy points. This is the cheapest we’ve seen him since the beginning of the season, and I want pieces of this game as it is currently the second-highest total on the slate.

Cedi Osman – Value – ($3,900)

At this price, I would be shocked if Osman didn’t hit value with the match against the Wizards. In two matchups with Washington Osman is averaging 25 fantasy points. As mentioned previously the Wizards rank dead last in the NBA defensively and have the 4th fastest pace in the league. Osman has a pretty safe floor. He usually ends up around 20 fantasy points, facing the Wizards. I don’t see why he can’t reach 30 points tonight.

Center

Andre Drummond – Stud – ($9,100)

I will start off by saying this is strictly a tournament play as Drummond has yet to see the 30-minute mark with his new team. He faces Washington though the team that has given up the third-most fantasy points to centers this season. This game is also lining up to be a track meet with the over/under set at 236. I couldn’t find a stud center that I really could focus on for tonight’s NBA slate, so I picked a guy with a high upside. Drummond can smash in this spot if he is given the opportunity under the new head coach.

Serge Ibaka – Mid-tier – ($6,500)

Gasol and Powell are already ruled out for Toronto, with them off the floor this season Ibaka holds the second-highest usage percentage on the team at 25.4%. He has earned at least 40 fantasy points in three of his last four games, two of which were against a stout Indiana team. Phoenix is the ninth fastest team in the NBA and they rank around the middle of the NBA in most other categories, such as Defensive efficiency, and total fantasy points were given up.

  Enes Kanter – Value – ($3,700)

If we throw out the one outlier game that Kanter has against the Rockets small ball lineup this looks like a great play. Throwing out that Rockets game Kanter hasn’t been bad, seeing roughly 20 minutes per game and his lowest fantasy output is 16 fantasy points over the span of 14 games. Kanter should have an amazing match, with the Timberwolves star center already ruled out. The Timberwolves are the 3rd fastest team in the NBA since their busy trade deadline.

I had a tough time finding reliable value on this nine-game NBA DFS slate, meaning I will probably be going more towards a balanced lineup. Be sure that you get yourself some exposure to Cleveland at Washington and New Orleans at Portland. We do have some injuries that we need to keep an eye on so don’t forget to check out the Discord chat rooms, where we breakdown key news and further discuss our picks for the slate. Thank you for taking the time to read my article and Goodluck!
