Insight Sheet: WGC Mexico Championship

The Insight Sheet gets you ready before lock for the WGC Mexico Championship. Inside is my personal player selection. Make sure to be on Discord tonight to get final questions asked and for help with lineup building. As always, the sheet uses DraftKings pricing but the model is set up for overall play. Players can be used on all sites.

**In a no-cut WGC event, the fields are stacked with top-end talent and all the top-priced guys have a great chance to win. Below I’m gonna list the top end guys I like MORE, but player selection really comes in after you get through the 9K range.**

Players priced between $12,000 and $10,000

Rory McIlroy $11,500
Jon Rahm $10,600
Hideki Matsuyama $10,000

Players priced between $9,900 and $9,000

Webb Simpson $9,800
Xander Schauffele $9,400
Bryson DeChambeau $9,000

Players priced between $8,900 and $8,300

Louis Oosthuizen $8,900 – Oos has five top 25 in his last five events including 3 top-fives. He also has gotten better every year at the WGC Mexico Championship with a T25 last year.

Collin Morikawa $8,500 – I’ll keep this short, he’s awesome with his irons and has yet to fall below T26 in his last seven starts. Datagolf has him as the 16th best player in the world.

Gary Woodland $8,300 – Seems to play better in tougher fields. T15 or better in the last TOC, Tour Championship, US Open (1st) and the PGA Championship with a T8. Coming in way under the radar, especially with a T17 here last year.

Players priced between $8,200 and $8,000

Bubba Watson $8,200 – He burned so many people last week, that alone almost makes me want to go back. Throw in his great tournament history and recent form and you have the prime candidate for a bounce-back week.

Marc Leishman $8,100 – His tournament history at the WGC Mexico isn’t the greatest but his stats are eye-popping. His ownership has been ballooning since the start of the week, so make sure you check on where it lands before locking him in.

Matthew Fitzpatrick $8,000 – Three top 30’s here in his last three attempts. Before the Omega on the European tour, Fitzpatrick had three top 10s. Good form and course history are all I need for $8,000 Fitz.

Players priced between $7,900 and $7,200

Brandt Snedeker – $7,700 – Snedeker is not coming in with great form and while he has a T7 at the WGC Mexico Championship, it was back in 2017. His style should fit the course and will flirt with sub 10% ownership.

Victor Perez $7,600 – No tournament history but Perez like Oosthuizen, has been dominating on the European tour. Six of his last seven tournaments, he’s finished T20 or better. Originally thought to be coming in around 5% ownership, his stock has risen. Still, I’ll have plenty of shares and perhaps even a core piece moving forward this week.

Kevin Kisner $7,200 – Five percent ownership for a guy who has finished T30 or better of the last five years at the WGC Mexico tournament.

Robert Macintyre $7,200 – Coming off an MC at the Saudi International, no tournament form and no recent form on stateside, Macintyre should have close to no ownership. What he does have is a GREAT form on the Euro Tour where he tops 30 nine out of his last ten tournaments. Datagolf has him as the 31st ranked player in the world.

Players priced $7,100 and below

Scottie Scheffler $7,100 – I wrote up him up last week as a rebound spot for Scheffler and he came through with a T30. Im going right back to him this week as the WGC Mexico Championship is a no-cut event. Four rounds to allow the 10th ranked golfer in BOB has his way.

Charles Howell III $7,100 – A nice pivot off of Scheffler, who has been gaining steam. T14 last year and who rides inside the top 10 in my rankings.

Erik Van Rooyen $6,600 – Burned me last week as he was a big staple in my lineups, but I’m coming right back. Sub 10% ownership his Ball Striking is rather worldly. It’s his short game that needs help. Like Scheffler though, four days of his irons should rack up several points.
