Fight Night Bets & DFS for UFC Fight Night 248

YAN V FIGUEIREDO

We’ll have an early start for us UFC fans this weekend as today’s action takes us across the globe to Macau, where some of China’s top talents will be squaring off in an action-packed event! We have 13 fights lined up on tonight’s card, with the main event featuring two former champions looking to rise through the ranks of the Bantamweight division! There are great matchups all throughout the night, so be sure to check out the top picks and plays below! Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get right into the action!

SLATE STARTS AT 3:00 AM ET

Exposure to the main event is highly recommended. DFS production in these fights is usually high as they are five-round fights. I do not recommend branching away from the Main Event. These fighters are usually both active, and they can rack up a lot of points. There will be four top plays followed by best bets. Now, let’s get ready to make some money!

Tonight, I’m here to give you my top four favorite DFS and Sports betting picks for UFC Fight Night 248 Yan vs Figueiredo.

MY UFC VALUE TARGET (CASH & GPP):

Nyamjargal Tumendemberel vs Carlos Hernandez

Tumendemberel’s nickname is “Art of the Knockout,” coincidentally enough, he’s been much more proficient in the ground game and finding submissions, as we saw in his first-round finish of Peter Danesoe last year. Tumendemberel is an extremely technical fighter who will capitalize on any mistakes made by his opponents, no matter how early they happen.

His opponent, Carlos Hernandez, makes way too many mistakes for this kind of matchup. His striking is sloppy, his takedowns are weak, and he hasn’t shown a good account of himself in the octagon for a while, going 1-3 over his last four fights.

One fight that I specifically want to highlight is Hernandez’s loss to Tatsuro Taira, a grappler who was able to knock out Hernandez early in the second round, with Hernandez landing two strikes throughout the whole fight.

Tumendemberel will be facing his strongest challenge to date; however, it is one that he should be able to handle.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Jnyamjargal Tumendemberel by SECOND-ROUND SUBMISSION (possible SECOND-ROUND KO).

MY UFC LOCKED-IN TARGET (CASH):

Cong Wang vs Gabriella Fernandes

Wang looked incredible in her first UFC fight earlier this year as she knocked out her opponent, Victoria Leonardo, in just over a minute.

Wang is now going up against an opponent in Gabriella Fernandes, who is 1-2 over her last three fights, with her last win coming by split decision against a fighter who had only four fights under her belt (Fernandes was also outstruck 169-119).

Throughout Fernandes’ 3-fight UFC career, she’s put up a -1.83 strike differential, given up nearly 25 minutes of control time and has not secured a convincing win. Over just one UFC fight, Wang was able to produce a better account of herself than Fernandes. Now, in this matchup, Wang has all the momentum, all the confidence and all the talent to finish this fight.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Cong Wang by FIRST-ROUND KO (possible UNANIMOUS DECISION)

MY UFC TOP SCORING TARGET (GPP):

Lone’er Kavanagh vs Jose Ochoa

Kavanagh is an incredible talent; he has impressive submissions, crazy striking and sneaky power. After an impressive 4-0 run on Cage Warriors, Kavanagh took his shot on the Contender Series, only coming into the fight as a slight favorite. Nearly halfway through the first round, Kavanagh put his opponent away with a mean left hook.

His opponent, Ochoa, has the same record but has fought far less convincing opponents, with five of his seven wins coming from the Peruvian regional scene. Despite looking good in his limited sample size, his technique is not at Kavanagh’s level, and he will look a step behind for the entire fight.

Look for Kavanagh to establish his jab early, mix in kicks and deliver a powerful KO early in the fight.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Lone’er Kavanagh by FIRST-ROUND KO (possible SECOND-ROUND KO)

MY MAIN EVENT PREDICTION (CASH & GPP):

Petr Yan vs Deiveson Figueiredo

This is a close one. Both fighters are coming off of big wins and are looking to make a statement tonight.

Figgy easily handled Chito Vera en route to a unanimous decision victory, while Yan got the best of Song Yadong in their 15-minute meeting. In that fight, Yan landed 129 strikes and two takedown attempts.

Ultimately, I see this fight coming down to the striking, and Yan strikes at a significantly higher output than Figueiredo (5.14 Strikes Landed per Minute vs 3.01 Strikes Landed per Minute). Yan is also one of the best Muy Thai fighters in the bantamweight division and can mix in his kicks to lower Figueiredo’s mobility and pre-occupy him defensively. When looking at the fight from a statistical perspective, Yan has a decisive advantage on the feet.

When it comes to grappling, their takedowns landed per 15 are very similar, but Yan also boasts an impressive 85% takedown defence rate compared to Figueiredo’s 58%.

With Yan holding an edge over Figueiredo in every facet of this fight, I have to take him to get the win here. It’ll be hard to see either fighter getting the finish, but at the end of the night (or morning), I see Yan walking away with the judge’s scorecards.

MY UFC DFS PICK: Petr Yan by UNANIMOUS DECISION

SUMMARY:

On Saturday’s ten-bout MMA UFC DFS slate, I will play the Parlay of the Day. Remember, to take down a GPP; you have to be different and take risks. Scared money doesn’t make money in tournaments.
