FanDuel MLB 9/29 Aces and Bases with A Through Z

What is up everyone, happy Wednesday! Check out the FanDuel MLB 9/29 breakdown below.

As usual, I will be going over 3 pitchers and 3 teams that we should be looking to stack in our FanDuel lineups. We have a solid 13 game slate to attack before week 4 of the NFL kicks off tomorrow. There are not any games with a PPD risk from a weather standpoint, so that is always a nice way to kick things off. With that said, let’s get into the picks!

The Aces

A. If you have not been reading my NFL DFS article covering QBs and stacks every Wednesday, I highly recommend it!

We have Max Scherzer pitching on this slate, but he is facing off against the San Diego Padres and while the Dodgers are still fighting for positioning, I am always hesitant to target veteran aces at this point in the season. The managers are definitely looking to keep these guys fresh for when the games really matter. For that reason, I will be swerving over to Carlos Rodon ($10,300) in this spot against the Cincinnati Reds. Rodon owns a 2.88 SIERA that is only 0.05 points behind Scherzer, along with a 35.1% strikeout rate that is actually higher than Mad Max’s mark. I would take the massive salary savings with Rodon without a question tonight.

B. Another ace that finds himself in a tough matchup this evening is Gerrit Cole, and I will be avoiding him as well on FanDuel tonight. Instead, we can look to Luis Garcia ($8,400) who is facing the Tampa Bay Rays, which has been a recipe for success this season if you are able to get the strikeouts. Garcia owns a 3.33 SIERA, 25% strikeout rate, and a 5.5% walk rate and he is a great option for us in the mid range tonight. Garcia has the solid Houston offense behind him and is listed as a favorite in this spot, so we have a decent chance at picking up the win bonus with him.

C. The final pitcher that I will recommend on FanDuel this evening is Nathan Eovaldi ($8,800) as he will be throwing against the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox continue to disappoint, as they managed to lose a virtual must-win game against the Orioles to kick off this series despite having their ace Chris Sale on the mound. Even if this team limps into the playoffs, they clearly stand absolutely no chance. Regardless, Eovaldi does stand a strong chance tonight in this matchup, as the Orioles struggle offensively as a whole and the Red Sox will be treating this as a near playoff game. While I would slightly prefer the cheaper Garcia, Eovaldi has motivation on his side in a must-win game for my hapless Red Sox.

The Bases

A. Motivation is a major theme this week since it is the final week of the regular season in the MLB, but I will be taking a turn from that and looking to the Texas Rangers on FanDuel for Wednesday night. The Rangers have not had any motivation for quite some time, but we can still expect them to score runs in a matchup against Janson Junk. What an absolutely brutal last name, and the pitching metrics support it as he sports a 5.65 SIERA, 9.8% strikeout rate, and a 3.9% walk rate. His only saving grace is that he does not give out free passes, but this Rangers team should be able to hit a few homers and get into this Angels bullpen early this evening.

B. Another team that I have interest in this evening is the Cleveland Indians, who are facing off against Daniel Lynch. Lynch is only slightly better than Junk (get it?), as he owns a 5.14 SIERA, 18% strikeout rate, and 9.9% walk rate on the season. Cleveland is only listed as a slight favorite tonight, but I expect them to win this matchup pretty easily. They are affordable across the DFS industry and draw the second worst pitcher on the entire 13 game main slate, so we should definitely try to get as much exposure as possible.

C. The final team that I will look to mix into lineups tonight is the St. Louis Cardinals. Unless you have been living under a rock over the last few weeks, the Cardinals are on an insane run right now and while that does result in huge hikes to their pricing on DFS sites, we have a great midrange option at pitcher that will allow us to still get some of these bats into our lineups. The Cardinals will be taking swings against Adrian Houser, and let’s just say that they have made much better pitchers look bad over this recent run that they are on. Ride the hot hand with STL and hopefully they keep the train rolling tonight.

That will do it for me today! Please also check out our projection model by clicking here, and if you have any questions, I will be in our expert chat in Discord leading up to lock.
