As usual, I will be going over 3 pitchers and 3 teams that we should be looking to stack in our FanDuel lineups. There are nine games on the docket for tonight and lock is at 7:05. We also do need to keep an eye on the weather in Chicago which seems to be the case every night these days. With that said, let’s get into the picks!
The Aces
A. Kicking things off with my SP1 is Freddy Peralta ($9,500) who is facing off against the Chicago Cubs. Peralta boasts a 3.06 SIERA, a massive 36.8% strikeout rate, and a elevated 10.3% walk rate. This Cubs team strikes out with the best of them, so the upside for Freddy tonight is extremely high. We should not be surprised to see him hang a double digit strikeout number in this spot on Monday night.
B. The second pitcher that I am looking to tonight is Trevor Bauer ($11,000) who is a frequent visitor to this article. Whenever Bauer is on the slate I have interest, as he owns a very high strikeout rate and is able to limit runs at a truly elite level. That is a solid combination for fantasy production in any matchup, and while the Giants have surprised everyone with their performance this far through the season, they are not a team that will keep me off of Bauer, and I am not sure that such a team even exists.
C. The final pitcher that I will look to in GPP builds on FanDuel tonight is Kenta Maeda ($7,100), pending the weather. For some reason, the FanDuel pricing algorithm is really not a fan of Maeda, because he seems to be underpriced every single time he takes the mound. This price will give us some seriously flexibility with our salary cap and allow us to afford expensive stacks. Maeda owns a solid 27.2% strikeout rate and just has the pitching metrics of someone that should be priced $2,000 higher than this level. Sign me up!
The Bases
A. Another frequent favorite of mine in this article is the New York Mets. The Mets rarely have let me down this season when I write them up here, so I will be going back to that well as they draw a matchup against Jefry Rodriguez. Jefry is the biggest gas can on the entire slate on Monday, rocking a 6.78 SIERA that tells us that his 3.00 ERA is really just smoke and mirrors. When you are giving out free passes at a 17.4% rate that matches your strikeout rate, you are never going to sustain a 3.00 ERA and I expect we see that rise quite a bit tonight.
B. Another team drawing a dream matchup on Monday night is the Washington Nationals who will be taking swings against Jerad Eickhoff. Eickhoff is yet another pitcher who owns an ERA that is much lower than his SIERA. The regression monster is coming for Jerad and we should expect the Nationals to put up plenty of runs tonight. We have yet another example of a strikeout rate and walk rate at the same level, which just makes the team that is facing the arm in question an easy auto play for me.
C. Lastly, I will look to sprinkle in Cleveland Indians bats into my stacks as both one-offs and parts of mini stacks on FanDuel tonight. The Indians also draw an extremely favorable matchup against Matt Manning, who actually has been able to limit the free passes to 8.9%. However, that is where the good news ends for Matt, as he owns a 6.03 SIERA and an extremely low strikeout rate. This Indians lineup does have quite a few holes in it which makes me weary of a full stack, but I do love picking a few of their heavy hitters to round out my lineups on Monday night.
