What is up everyone, happy Wednesday! Check out the FanDuel MLB 5/12 breakdown below.
As usual, I will be going over 3 pitchers and 3 teams that we should be looking to stack in our FanDuel lineups. We have a pretty large 10 gamer that locks at 7:05 and we do have a few early games sprinkled in today. With that said, let’s get into the picks!
The Aces
A. I am running low on time today so I will keep the article short and stick to the plays! My favorite pitcher for FanDuel tonight is one that is due for some serious positive regression. Collin McHugh ($5,800) has the craziest combination of stats that I have ever seen. He owns the worst ERA (7.36) on the day, but the lowest SIERA (2.52). This means that he has been very unlucky to have an ERA that high and his price is one of the biggest discounts you will ever find against a Yankees team that strikes out at will.
B. The reason that McHugh is listed as such a large underdog today is because he will be facing off against my SP2, Gerrit Cole ($12,000). This will be an interesting game to watch as it should be a pitcher duel between two high strikeout arms that can limit runs easily in the large Tropicana Field. If you find some cheap stacks that you like on FanDuel then go to Cole, but if you want to stack some expensive bats then McHugh is your man.
C. My SP3 for Wednesday night is going to be Brandon Woodruff ($10,600) who is pitching against the St. Louis Cardinals offense. Woodruff owns the third highest strikeout rate on the main slate of 31.6%, and he is a great way to swerve off of the Cole salary and ownership. While the Cardinals are not an offense to scoff at, Woodruff does not really have a weakness in his game as he is able to limit damage whenever he takes the mound.
The Bases
A. While my first stack of the night will be chalky, I am hoping that my SP1 will help differentiate my lineup enough, as it is very tough to avoid getting heavy exposure to the LA Dodgers offense. The Dodgers are not only one of the top offenses in baseball, but they are also getting the worst pitcher of the entire day in Justin Dunn. Dunn owns a nearly 16% walk rate and 6 SIERA that the Dodgers should be able to feast on early and often.
B. For my secondary stack on this FanDuel MLB slate, I will be going back to the well on the Philadelphia Phillies. Jon Lester is a pitcher that is a household name, but that is also due to previous performances and not recent ones. Recently, Lester owns a 5+ SIERA, an extremely low 15.7% strikeout rate, and a 4.82 ERA. The Phillies are listed as slight favorites but they should be able to knock Lester around before they get to this Nationals bullpen.
C. To close things out for Wednesday, I will be stacking and mixing in one-off plays from the LA Angels. The Angels will be taking swings against Jose Urquidy and the Astros bullpen. Urquidy is not exactly a gas can with his 3.18 ERA, but if we dig a bit deeper we can find some concerning areas of his game. Jose sports a 5.02 SIERA and a measly 16.4% strikeout rate, while also allowing a good amount of fly balls. I am mainly looking to Mike Trout here, but I expect an Angels stack to be very low owned as well.
