What is up everyone! Happy Monday. Check out the FanDuel MLB 4/12 breakdown below.
As usual, I will be going over 3 pitchers and 3 teams that we should be looking to stack in our FanDuel lineups. The main slate is packed with 12 games tonight and locks at 7:05 PM, so let’s get to it!
The Aces
A. To start, I am crossing off the Philly/NYM game due to the high likelihood that the game is postponed due to rain. That leaves us with an 11 game slate to choose our pitchers from. The first pitcher that I am interested in on FanDuel tonight is Tyler Glasnow ($10,700), who is only $300 cheaper than the top-priced pitcher tonight Gerrit Cole. While Cole is an excellent option, I will take the slight price and ownership discount with Glasnow, who is a massive -230 favorite. TG has gone 2/2 with the quality start bonus to start the season, and I expect him to make that 3/3 tonight against the Rangers.
B. My second ace of the night for Monday is Carlos Rodon ($8,300) who is significantly cheaper than the other aces up top, with five arms above him on the salary list. Rodon dominated the Mariners in his first start, and even though he only made it through five innings and thus did not receive the quality start bonus, I expect him to reach that mark tonight against Cleveland. While the 26.3% K rate is not necessarily elite, the 12.3% swinging strike rate and the 30.3% hard contact rate are both in that elite tier, which allows him to really limit the damage.
C. In order to save some money for expensive stacks, Wade Miley ($7,000) comes squarely into play for me tonight as well. Miley had an excellent first start where he earned the quality start bonus, and although it was against the weak Pittsburgh Pirates, he earns himself another weak opponent tonight in the San Francisco Giants. The Cincinnati Reds have been off to a historical start this season, so if that keeps up then Miley should also easily pick up the win tonight.
The Bases
A. With 11 games to look at, we have a plethora of gas cans on the mound that we can target with our stacks. The first stack we should look to tonight is the New York Yankees. Robbie Ray is not only coming off of the IL, he is also a notoriously erratic pitcher who can really implode in a hurry. Ray has the second highest SIERA on the day at 5.49, accompanied by an even worse ERA of 6.62. Ray may not go far into this game, but I expect that to be due to the Yanks teeing off on him early and often.
B. For my second stack of the night, I will be looking to load up on Oakland Athletics bats. Madison Bumgarner is taking the mound for the Diamondbacks tonight, and he has really been emphasizing the first three letters of his last name so far this season. Jokes aside, Mad Bum has looked horrible through two starts, allowing 11 runs, and until he shows that he can at least be an average version of his old self, I will be targeting him with batters up and down the opposing lineup.
C. Lastly, I will be looking to sprinkle in some Seattle Mariners bats on Monday night, as they take swings against Dean Kremer. While Kremer has a slightly above average strikeout rate, his walk rate is an astronomical 16%, and he does not do a very good job of inducing ground balls. In other words, he puts guys on base for free and then allows batters to elevate the baseball, which is a recipe for success for the opposing batters.
